Today I'm going to talk about Hypertension & its dietary modification.
Hypertension is known as abnormally high blood pressure.
Although there are so many reasons behind hypertension i.e sedentary lifestyle, Obesity.
Smoking, Sodium rich diet, excess intake of saturated fat
Or cholesterol rich diet, emotional stress
So these are the reason but there is no fixed reason behind hypertension.
Symptoms of hypertension are giddiness, headache & tiredness.
If they are continuous for longer period that means you can suffer from hypertension.
So you should consult some physician regarding that.
Dietary modification in hypertension is as equal as it for diabetes.
Either you mild hypertensive, moderate or severe
At every stage you need dietary modification.
In moderate and severe cases medical consultation is must.
In mild case its also required but to an extent your dietary is controllable through modifications.
As per researches if you are taking fat restricted diet
Also if you are taking sodium restricted diet which is the main reason as in it influence directly to increase BP
So if you restrict both of them then to an extent mild an moderate cases are controllable.
I have spoken a lot in my many videos about fat restricted diet.
So today I'll talk about mainly about sodium restricted diet.
In main source of sodium the first on is Common Salt which is used in our cooking.
We should have minimum intake of salt in all the cases of BP.
Baking soda/baking powder is the another source of sodium.
Even milk, white egg,meat, poultry items, fish
Some vegetables like, Spinach, Fenugreek, Radish, carrot, Beetroot, Lotus stem, cauliflower.
So these are vegetable including some pulses and spices like Cumin Seeds and Omam
So if you'll start taking all these food items in restricted manner
Then your sodium intake will become restricted
As we don't know that how much of common salt in required & how will we control it.
In India common salt is minimum taken from 3-4 gm to 10-12 gm
Which should be somewhere around 2 to 2.5 gm.
So how to control common salt, let me tell you
you must use minimum of salt while cooking
Never add salt from the top of any dish.
Avoid Salt preservative items like ketchup.pickle. papadum.
Avoid food items with salt intake like dry snacks (namkeen), salted butter, salted peanuts
Also make a note,if you are suffering from BP problem & you are taking some another medicine too.
Then you should always tell your dr that you are suffering from BP.
So that you'll be prescribed such medicine which doesn't contain sodium
Also gather some information about the sodium & salt content in any food item that you buy from market.
If such items are high in sodium and salt content then you should avoid such food items.
Use minimum salt, so this way with minimum usage of sodium you'll be able to control your BP.
