Editing Old Photos is Getting Easier - Duration: 4:00.

Hi everybody. I want to share with you

some of my experiences recently with

editing old photos. We're living in an

amazing time. I mean, the likes of

Photoshop have been around for over 20

years and until recently Photoshop or

other similarly complex graphics

software were the only real options for

doing serious photo editing. Although

I've touched and messed around with

Photoshop a bit over the years, I just,

it's not something I wanted to invest

the time in, so I've always called upon

professionals when I needed that level

of expertise in photo editing. You

can get this done pretty quickly and

cheaply on sites like Fiverr, so when I

do come across something which is beyond

my capabilities, I'll hire somebody sometimes.

It costs as little as $5, sometimes

as much as $25, but it beats

having to pay for the software and teach

myself how to use it. What I do is I use

very simple image editing apps on my

phone and also on my desktop. There's

a great a web-based app called BeFunky.com.

It's positioned somewhere in between,

you know, a very simple one-click

type filter app and Photoshop. It's

kind of in between so it has enough

tools and sophistication that you can

actually do quite a lot with it. Probably

somebody who is expert in Photoshop and

who doesn't mind paying the cost of

Photoshop would be disappointed in

it. They would find it lacking and

frustrating, so it's not going to take

away a market share from Adobe. It

wouldn't be of interest to those people.

But, there are people like myself who

just want very simple photo editing

capabilities. An interesting thing

has been happening with

artificial intelligence in filters.

You've seen the likes of Prisma, Vinci,

and apps like those. This

intelligence is seeping into photo

editing as well. BeFunky recently

released a bunch of filters which allow

you to really add some great life into

old photos. If you have a photo which

is grainy, poorly lit, and so on, a bit

small, you can; there is quite a lot you can

do to breathe some new life into it. But,

it can't make up for lack of detail yet.

Google has recently come up with an

algorithm and some artificial

intelligence system where they can add

detail to photos. You know in all

those movies where you have the spy

scene where they have some grainy still

from a video surveillance camera and

they zoom in and it adds detail, and so

on - that actually is not possible right

now. But it may be quite soon through

artificial intelligence and feeding it

lots of big data so that it can learn

and add details. So, I'm very excited to

see what will be possible 5, 10, 20

years from now where with one click you

can maybe take a horrible, grainy,

terribly lit, old, small photo and turn it

into something quite spectacular.

Seriously, I think this is what's coming.

So, let me know your thoughts. What are

you doing with image editing? And, what

tools you use? Anyway, thanks for

watching. Cheers.

Book Presentation: "Immigrant Star" at Modern Graphics in Berlin [CC] ENGLISH + [CC] DEUTSCH - Duration: 5:17.

Dear friends,

today we go to a book presentation

it's a comic book "Immigrant Star"

presented at the "Modern Graphix" store

in Berlin

It's a book about an artist

Who escaped from earth

After which earth exploded

because there were no more jobs for anyone

So he looks for a job on 11 different planets

And this doesn't work out well

He even found a planet

populated with artists only

But even there something went wrong

and there's no work for the artists

they all must go home

I brought some frineds

And they asked

"How can someone present a comic book?"

In Germany in a book presentation

the author reads from his book

But how do you read from a comic?

Here we go:

By the way: the unicorn is the publisher

Founder of the wonderful JaJa Publishing House

Over 1 million cast ballot on first morning of early voting for Korea's presidential election - Duration: 2:55.

Korea's presidential election is set to take place next Tuesday, but people are already

casting their votes in a round of early voting today and tomorrow.

In fact, well over one million votes have been cast this morning alone.

Let's connect with our Kwon Jang-ho, who's at an early voting station set up at Korea's

main gateway, Incheon International Airport.

The polling stations seem busy, how is it over there for you, Jang-ho?

Good afternoon, Mark.

It has been very busy here.

Already 3-thousand people have come through the early voting station set up here, this

morning alone.

If you compare that to the parliamentary election last year, where only 7-thousand-7-hundred

votes were made over two days, we are set to see a much, much bigger turnout.

That trend is being seen all over the country.

There are 35-hundred stations in various locations, and at the last count at 11AM, over 1-point-5

million people had cast early votes.

That means turnout is currently more than double what it was during the same period

last year.

But also to note is that this is the first time early voting has been allowed for a presidential

election.

Yes, and especially with the current political situation in Korea, it seems the public are

taking the vote more seriously than ever before.

There's also an issue with the timing of these elections that is affecting early voter turnout.

Can you tell us about that?

Yes as mentioned, turnout is very high here at Incheon Airport.

The wait time is still half an hour, even though the polling station is two times bigger

than it was for the last election.

Now, one of the reasons for the expansion is because tomorrow is Children's Day,...

a national holiday here in Korea,... and there are many people who are taking advantage of

the long weekend and going away on vacation -- and they might not be back in time for

election day on Tuesday.

But even if that's not the case, people might have other reasons for early voting.

And it's the convenience as well.

People have two days to vote, and they can vote at any location -- people are not limited

to their own districts like they will be next week.

I've spoken to a few people here to see how they felt about the process.

"We're on our way overseas, so it's really fortunate that early voting has been set up.

The line is long and we've waited a long time, but I am so happy and proud that it brings

a tear to my eye."

"I've thought about my choice a lot, but I was always planning to vote early, so I'm

happy with my choice and I don't think I will regret it."

The early voting stations are open between, 6AM to 6PM, today and tomorrow.

But on the official election day itself next Tuesday, voting will be from 6AM to 8PM.

The early votes cast will only be counted then as well.

Back to you Mark.

Turkmenistan fully prepared to host the AIMAG 2017 - Duration: 2:51.

The 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games is set to take place in the Central Asian

country of Turkmenistan in September.

Our Kim Hyesung reports on how the preparation work is going, and what holding the sports

event means to its people.

The countdown to Ashgabat 2017 has begun, and Turkmenistan is ready.

Thirty multi-sport venues and a main Olympic stadium that can seat 45-thousand people are

all connected by a monorail.

"More than 55-hundred athletes from 62 countries will compete at the fifth Asian Indoor and

Martial Arts Games this September.

This is the first major global sports event ever to be hosted by Turkmenistan, whose buildings

showcase both tradition and modernity."

The main stadium is in the shape of a horse, showing Turkmenistan's love for its native

breed and national treasure -- the Akhalteke, the mascot of the games symbolizing speed,

power and unity.

This former Soviet republic, which achieved independence in 1991, has invested over 5

billion U.S. dollars in the facility.

It's 145-thousand square meters in size, and a testament to Turkmenistan's success, it

represents the biggest sports complex in Central Asia and in the history of the games.

"It's a very big boost for the nation itself, to deliver such a large scale event where

we expect more than 300 thousand spectators as well as we are going to have large amount

of workforce and volunteers, so overall I think it will be a positive emotion for lots

of people."

A positive emotion that Turkmen youngsters can't seem to hide even during the test games

held in the last week of April.

"We saw so many foreigners here, it's really interesting and cool.

We are glad we can also participate in the games."

"I'm so excited for the games.

Go, go Turkmenistan "

Delivering a perfect experience will require not just world-class facilities but also friendly

service.

They're training more than ten thousand volunteers, some of them in Korea, the most recent host

of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

"In 2014, young Turkmen volunteers received training at the Incheon Asian Games in Korea.

And there are Korean organizers helping with the planning and execution of Ashgabat 2017.

Cooperation in the field of sports can boost people-to-people ties and mutual understanding.

It's a great move for the two countries, which mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relationship

this year."

Under the themes of health, friendship and inspiration, Ashgabat 2017 will host 21 events

including Taekwondo, kickboxing, chess and equestrian jumping -- from September 17th

to the 27th.
