The Most Powerful Creatures on Earth

In 2011 it was estimated that there were over 8.7 million different species on planet earth, ranging from the smallest of insects to the largest of mammals.

The human race has always had a deep fascination with nature and is often mesmerised by the beautiful, and often brutal, circle of life.

One aspect of the animal kingdom that has always shocked and intrigued humans in equal measure is the sheer power of certain creatures.

Whether it be the grace and strength of a lion or the speed and power of a Great White, humans have always had a special fascination with powerful creatures.

However, it is not always the biggest animals that possess the greatest strength. Here is a list of some of the most powerful creatures on the planet. Some of the candidates might just surprise you.

An Impressive Weight Lifter: The Rhinoceros Beetle

When you think of powerful creatures, a beetle might not be the first thing that pops into your head but the Rhinoceros Beetle is an incredibly strong insect.

There are over 300 different types of rhinoceros beetle, with the Hercules Beetle at the top of the pile when it comes to strength.

Measuring around 6 inches in length, some hercules beetles have been known to lift up to 850 times their own body weight; that's the equivalent of a human lifting a 65 ton object!.

The Strongest of Birds: The Eagle

An eagle in full flight is one of the most impressive sights in nature. The bird of prey is a supreme hunter and uses its incredible speed and sharp eyesight in order to catch its victim.

As well as having incredibly sharp claws, the eagle also possesses impressive power in its wings in order to carry it in flight.

Eagles have been known to carry prey weighing 4 times their own weight, making them the most powerful birds on the planet.

A Tight Squeeze: The Anaconda

South America is home to one of the largest snakes in the world, the anaconda. While many snakes get their fearsome reputations due to their poisonous venom, the anaconda is a little different.

The reptile is actually non-venomous and kills its prey by wrapping its large body around them and literally squeezing them to death.

The anaconda can kill prey weighing up to its own impressive 250kg body weight and their diet consists of wild pigs, birds, deer, turtles and even jaguars.

Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that, due to their jaws being attached by stretchy ligaments, anacondas can swallow their prey whole, no matter what the size.

A Speed Demon: The Cheetah

Power might not be the first word that comes to mind when looking at a cheetah, especially when compared in size to other 'big cats' such as lions and tigers.

What the cheetah loses out by in the weight department though, it more than makes up for in speed.

The cheetah's powerful legs allow it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3 seconds, that's faster than most sports cars! The cheetah is not only the fastest land mammal on earth but its quick reflexes and svelte body allow it to make sharp and sudden turns when.

Crushing Impact: The Great White Shark

The great white shark is the ultimate predator of the sea and is often at the top of a lot of people's 'most feared creatures' list.

Although the reputation of the great white as a mindless killing machine is very unfair, it is easy to see why the creature commands so much respect.

Great whites usually grow up to around 4.5m in length but there have been giants as big as 6m in length and 2,200kg in weight spotted.

Great whites are also armed with an incredible sense of smell and jaws that are lined with rows of up to 300 triangular serrated teeth. They often attack their prey from below and can reach speeds of up to 15mph.

The size, speed and weight of a great white shark means that their prey has almost no hope of surviving an impact attack.

Jaws of Steel: The Hippopotamus

The hippo is a very deceptive creature and can often look docile and friendly while bathing in water (which it manages for up to 16 hours per day). If a hippo feels threatened though, things can quickly change.

Hippos often charge for water if they become uneasy on land and, when you consider the average hippo weighs around 3,000kg, anything in their way is totally flattened.

More humans are actually killed by charging hippos than shark attacks each year. Hippos also possess the most powerful jaws of all mammals and can crush any potential predator that gets too close.

The Death Roll: The Crocodile

The crocodile is one of nature's most feared creatures and it is easy to see why. With armour-like skin and razor sharp teeth, few prey are able to escape death once they are in the vice-like grip of a crocodile's jaw.

Crocodiles usually finish their prey off by pulling them into deep water and performing a 'death roll,' which often tears the prey apart.

The Nile crocodile is the world's largest crocodilian, with some creatures reaching 6 metres in length and weighing up to 730kg. It is estimated that Nile crocs are responsible for around 200 human deaths each year.

The Powerful Vegetarian: The Gorilla

The gorilla might be on the endangered species list but it is still one of the most powerful creatures on the planet.

While their diet consists mostly of plants and fruit, the gorilla still has huge upper body strength and is capable of lifting 10 times its body weight.

Male gorillas, known as silverbacks, can grow as tall as 6ft in height and weigh over 230kg.

Gorillas are mostly known as shy and gentle creatures but when dominant males challenge each other, the result is usually a fight to the death.

Brute Force: The Elephant

The elephant is the largest land animal on earth and can reach over 4 metres in height and over 6,000kg in weight.

Although elephants are usually non-violent, if they feel threatened they will often stampede in a herd and, due to their immense size and weight, can cause huge damage to whatever gets in their path.

Elephants have been known to stampede through villages, destroying houses and killing humans. In terms of brute strength, the African elephant is the strongest mammal on earth and is capable of carrying up to.

The Most Powerful Creature on Earth: The Dung Beetle

It may not have the weight of an elephant or the speed of a cheetah but in terms of strength to body weight, the dung beetle is actually the most powerful creature on the planet.

It is capable of pulling 1,141 times its own body weight; that is equivalent to a human pulling 80 tons! It may be one of the smallest creatures on this list but that doesn't stop it from being the most powerful.

10 Mysteries Which Have Shaken the Globe

It's been said that man spends his life in search of answers ot the mysteries of the universe. To some extent, we know this to be true.

The earliest cave paintings depict the animals around us. The next ones are paintings of what man thought to be gods.

Mankind has always tried to find its place in the universe, and some of these questions have been asked by every person in every culture in every era.

What Else Is Out There?

When you sit and stare at the stars, do you see only their beauty, or do you see the vast empty space? People have always wondered whether they were alone in the universe, and while there have been many claims to the contrary, no definitive proof exists.

Where Did Language Come from?

At what point did language shift from grunts over the campfire while running from a brontosaurus to Shakespeare? Did visitors from another planet bestow this gift to us, or does the Biblical story of the Tower of Babel offer a better explanation? While linguists have traced language as it's evolved through the ages, the ultimate point of origin for language is unclear.

Why Do We Laugh?

What came first: the joke or the cackle? Language, while not fully understood, serves a clear purpose. However, laughter does not.

From a scientific and evolutionary perspective, laughter doesn't make much sense. It causes the release of endorphins that release stress, but the concept of humor is one that isn't shared by other animals.

Do We Have Souls?

The relation between the mind and the body has long been the point of discussion. Some cultures believed the soul was carried on the breath; it's likely that this idea first originated due to them seeing their breath on cold days.

However, as even modern science doesn't understand the complex nature of consciousness, there's no way to answer this question.

Do We Have Free Will?

When you get out of bed in the morning, do you go to pour a cup of coffee, or are you programmed to do so? Does anything you do in your life have a direct result, or is everything predetermined? The thoughts that flick through your head during the day may feel like your own, but many people don't believe that to be true.

There are some schools of thought that think the ultimate result of life is out of our control.

What Is the Meaning of Life?

Of the roughly seventy years you have on earth, what sort of legacy do you leave behind? The meaning of life is something man have tried to discover for the entire span of his time on this planet, but it still escapes us.

However, many people have chosen to give their lives their own meaning, whether that is caring for family, making the world a better place, or collecting every Power Rangers action figure in existence.

Is There a God?

Countless wars have been fought and lives lost in the endless debate on whether a god, or gods, exist. Man has sought a higher power for explanations of existence, or for comfort in times of trouble.

When faced with trials and tribulations that go beyond our control, it's natural to seek out assistance from a power greater than yourself, which makes this mystery one that people will always pursue.

Is There Anything after Death?

The fear of death is the most primal of fears; not only because the manner in which death occurs can, in itself, be terrifying, but also because of the unknown.

Since no one knows whether there is anything after death, the idea is frightening. The thought of an endless nothing is something the mind cannot comprehend, so the idea of an afterlife brings comfort to many people.

Is There Such a Thing as Good?

The battle between good and evil has been put forth in countless religious texts, but the question of whether good and evil even exists has been the fodder of countless philosophers.

Morality may very well be a social construct, but if that's the case, then human rights are built on a shaky foundation.

Where Does Everything Come from?

Life, the Earth, even reality itself, where does it all come from? Is our life the result of a cosmic explosion, or is there a higher power out there creating everything? This question is perhaps the most asked of all.

From the moment a person becomes old enough to realize their own existence, they begin to wonder where everything is originated from. While theories abound, there is no definitive anwer.

Making Requests & Asking for Permission - Easy English Vocabulary - Duration: 6:10.

Asking people to do things for us, or asking if we are allowed to do something is often

quite difficult.

Perhaps you're just a shy person, and you don't feel comfortable asking other people

to do things for you.

Maybe you're a very independent person, and you like to take care of yourself.

Sometimes, we just don't feel like we know the other person well enough.

Another big issue is language.

What is the best way in English to ask someone to do something for you?

Stay tuned, as I make requests and asking permission, easy.

Hi everyone, how are you?

I'm Edward from English Made Easy.

Humans are social animals.

The reason we've been so successful as a species is because we have an unmatched ability to

communicate with each other.

If I need something, I can ask somebody to do it for me.

I'm sure many of you mostly YouTube for information, or to gain knowledge.

Humans are fantastic at sharing knowledge, however, when it comes to asking somebody

face-to-face to teach you, or to explain something, it can sometimes be difficult.

Imagine this situation: you go to lunch with somebody you don't know very well, and the

bill comes.

You check to see if you can find your wallet and you've forgotten it.

Do you feel comfortable asking this person to pay for you?

Knowing how to ask these questions is really important, but also knowing which is the right

question depending on who we're speaking to is equally important.

In English, we call this formal language.

Let's start by learning how to make requests.

A request is when we ask somebody else to do something for us.

We'll start with the informal options, and we'll move to the more formal options.

If asking friends or family, there are two great options: "can you?", or "could you?".

Both of these are always followed by verb 1.

For example, "Can you make me a cup of tea?", "Can you drive me to the mall?", "Could you

take the dog for a walk?", "Could you buy me a coke?".

'Can you' and 'could you' are the two most common ways of making requests, that's because

we use these with friends, with family and also people we know really well, like our

close colleagues.

However, if we want to make a request from somebody we don't know very well, or perhaps

somebody who we consider to be senior to us, we have to change and use some more formal

requests.

Two great formal options are: 'Would you mind' or 'could you possibly'.

However, it's important to note that there's a difference in grammar here.

'Would you mind' is followed by 'verb-ing', while 'could you possibly' is followed by

'verb 1'.

Let's check out some examples.

"Would you mind forwarding these documents to the team in Germany, please?", "Would you

mind lending me $20 for lunch?", "Could you possibly tell me the time?", "Could you possibly

show me where the nearest bus station is?".

To summarize, there are four great options for making requests: 'Can you', 'could you',

'would you mind', or 'could you possibly'.

Let's move away now from asking people if they could do something for you, and instead

look at asking if you are allowed to do something.

This is known as asking for permission.

'Permission' means that you are allowed to do something.

It isn't talking about if something is legal, or illegal, it's talking about consent or

authorization to do something.

Clearly, it's really important to understand how to ask for permission, but it's also important

to know which is the best way to ask for permission, depending on who I'm speaking to.

I'll now show you 7 different ways how to ask for permission.

In order of formality, from the least formal, to the most formal.

The least formal is 'can I' plus 'verb 1'.

For example, "Can I go to the bathroom?".

Next is 'could I' plus 'verb 1'.

For instance, "Could I use your phone?".

We can also use 'is it OK if I' plus 'verb 1'.

"Is it OK if I submit my assignment next week?".

Another option is 'may I' plus 'verb 1'.

such as with the sentence "May I borrow $20?".

How about 'could I possibly' plus 'verb 1'?

"Could I possibly leave early?

I'm not feeling well.".

We can also use 'would it be OK if I' plus ' verb 2'.

"Would it be OK if I contacted them tomorrow?".

And the last options: 'would you mind if I' plus 'verb 2'.

"Would you mind if I asked Mr. Jones to join the meeting?".

There are plenty of different ways we can ask somebody to do something for you, or to

ask permission, but one thing is true for all of them: you are asking somebody a question,

therefore it's CRUCIAL that we are polite.

One way to guarantee that you are speaking politely, is to use the word please.

Just put the word please at the beginning, or at the end of the sentence.

For example, "Could you take me to the airport, please?", or "Please, could you take me

to the airport?".

Why is Stretching Important - Mr2ndopinion.com - 0109 - Duration: 7:01.

Oh so you think stretching is for sissies huh...

We will see about that.

Stay tuned for my opinion on why stretchin is hella imporant

and why you folks get something good out of it!

Flexibility is your most important component in fitness ladies and gentlemen.

Strength or how much you push or pull is not so important as one thinks.

More important is that you use prepared warmed up muscle tissue throughout the entire

exercise while you put strain on them.

This delivers you a well-trained body.

If you don't stretch you'll need a patch a chiropractor or even worse surgery!

Stay flexible at all times and before every lift give yourself 5 min time to stretch.

In my opinion, since I started streching I've been doing way better and have endured

less pains afterbirths.

You may think it's not necessary for you but your wrong.

Everyone can get benefits out of stretching.

Decreased muscle stiffness and increase range of motion.

Who doesn't want that.

Streching will improve your motion which may also slow

down any degeneration of your joints and reduce risk of injury.

A flexible muscle is prepared for 'the blow' and is less likely injured from extensive

movements.

By increasing your range through streching your less likely to pull a muscle with out

time as a result.

Because of the stretch you will likely feel less resistance during the activities.

Even after I hit a warm shower it helps relieve aches or pains.

A hard workout can get the best of your bones, muscles, joints but streching makes

those pains less!

It keeps the muscles loose and less 'short' and tight, this allows me to feel

less pains post-workout.

It also improved my posture a whoe lot and the way my body looks.

I got much tighter than before I streched.

For the ladies stretchin can be a holy grail!

The lower back, shoulders and chest will also love you.

throughout the rest of your day because of your improvement of your posture.

Streching in my opinion is also great to reduce stress.

No only before a workout but during the day I also do some streches and it reduces my

stress.

Stress if it heaps up falls on your body because stress tenses the muscles and stiffens them

up to fight or flight.

Handeling yourself with a good stretch can feel really great.

Almost sexual, so give in to yourself for yourselfs sake.

Feel less stressed and more blessed, subscribe to mr2ndopinion.

Stretching will continue throughout the day as your muscles feel more relaxed.

I promise you, your body will feel more suiting when you stretch than tense

It's like a self-given massage.

It allows your muscles to relax and sit back.

Tense muscles get cut off from blood circulation and that results in lack of oxygen and other nutrients.

Toxicity can build up.

Can't reach a spot or need a back rub ladies?

I'm willing to share my love!

Gimme a call. I'll work that toxicity out of your body. Gentlemen give ya lady a back rub

Overall it's simple to say it improves your mechanical efficiency and functionality.

Reaching for things will be less of a worry and easier for you.

Even your dancing can improve from it.

Since you become more flexable and it requires less energy

for you to move through a wide range of motion.

the flexible body is a healthy body, it's more energy-efficient and has better access

to blood, oxygen and nutrients.

Prepares the body for the stress of exercise or be stretched out.

Don't be strechted out!

Stretching is a priority before everything else.

It's a safety belt for your body, a natural belt!

Oh and by the way... did I tell you it tightens your abdominals like a motherfcker!

X-cuze my slanguage.

Hope you picked up the lesson!

If there is animo for it I will do a video where I show you stretch exercises!

Seth Carnett from mr2ndopinion, go fetch a stretch!
