Hey everyone! I'm gunnarolla with Tourism Calgary
here at TELUS Spark for the Starfleet Academy Experience
There are tons of cool things to see and do here
and the best part is, you don't have to be a huge Star Trek fan to enjoy it
(although I obviously am)
So let's check it out!
One to beam up!
[action music]
Jamie, so you're the first person people will see when they come to the Starfleet Academy Experience
Can you tell me what these wristbands are for?
-These wristbands, everyone who comes through gets one
As you're going through the Academy, you'll scan them on the kiosks
We'll have different activities like phaser shooting, medical tricorder
At the exit, you'll scan them on the results kiosks
and those will give you your Academy file, tell you where you placed
-Cool, so it's pretty interactive, maybe a little competition
-It's very interactive
-All right, I'm here with - what's your name?
-Aiden
-Aiden. And what are we going to do today?
-We're going to use this phaser training
-So what do you have to do here?
-You're supposed to shoot the targets
-Aiden is getting all of them, right in the center
Did you have a lot of practice before you did this?
-Only twice
-Only twice? Okay.
-We made it to the communications section of the Starfleet Academy Experience
Here, we can actually learn how to speak Klingon
["Hab sosli Quch" is heard in the backround]
What did you just say about my mother?
We are about to enter the bridge
of the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-D
This is all of my Trek dreams come true right now
This is where tactical would go
This is where all the science stuff happens
This is like a computer
Do you think you could show me how to use this?
-Okay. So press every button, then see what happens
I mean, that's how I use a computer. So.
Captain Kirk, right over here
Captain Picard?
Captain Tony
How's it going, Captain Tony?
-I'm just great
I think it's safe to say, you are a Star Trek fan
-Oh, sure
How did you hear about this exhibition?
-Through the Internet, actually
I'm from Edmonton
-Cool, so you made the 3 hour drive down
-Yeah, sure did last night
-How are you enjoying it so far?
-It's pretty interesting. Looking to buy a few things on my way out
How does it feel to be on the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-D?
-It's definitely very cool. I like it
-For the people watching at home, what kinds of things do you think they could look forward to?
-It's definitely interactive, challenging, you don't have to be a Star Trek fan but it does help
-Is this just for Trek fans or do you think it has a wider appeal?
I think it has a wider appeal. I think there's an educational element that would be fun for kids
But I'd also say: dive in, dress up, have fun
Go into the future, let's go positive and see we can accomplish and what science can accomplish
I'd say everybody's welcome
-That's it for me! Starfleet Academy runs until June 4 at TELUS Spark
Get your tickets now!
Beam me up!
[orchestral fanfare]
Thanks for watching!

Easy and Elegant Roasted Fruit Salad and Rosemary Vinaigrette - Duration: 5:51.
Hi, I'm Marc Sievers and this is From My Kitchen to Yours, Table for Two edition!
I'm so excited to show you my Roasted Fruit Salad with Rosemary Vinaigrette.
It's earthy, it's elegant, and it's vegetarian!
So, I hope you have fun following along!
Let's get started!
So the first step in getting the Roasted Fruit Salad with Rosemary Vinaigrette started is
the Rosemary Vinaigrette!
Turns out, I love infusing things with different aromatic herbs and other spices.
So, I took regular honey and then infused it with fresh rosemary and black peppercorns.
You can certainly find flavored honeys in grocery stores, but they're kind of far and
few in between, and they can be really expensive.
Doing it my way, you can make exactly the quantity that you need and you can also play
around with other flavors that you love.
So first I'm going to put in some honey, to a small pan set over high heat.
Some extra virgin olive oil.
Sprig of fresh rosemary.
Nestle it inside.
And, some whole black pepper corns.
I'm going to give this a little whisk, and let it come to a boil.
Perfect, that's come to a boil and I'm going to turn off the heat, set it aside and cover
it for exactly 20 minutes, and this is the perfect time to get the fruit ready.
So I'm going to drizzle it with a little bit of olive oil and some salt.
A little bit of freshly cracked black pepper.
Get all of the fruit even coated and in a single layer.
Keep the grapes on the sheet pan.
I'm going to roast this at 450 degrees F for about 10 - 12 minutes, and then during the
last 3 minutes roasting time I'm going to add 3-quarters of a cup of whole pecan halves,
so they get a little toasted and bring out their nutty flavor.
So for this salad I decided to use feta cheese, but not just any feta, I really love French
feta.
I think the flavor is a little more delicate, a little bit more well-rounded.
It's still tangy, but not as tangy as regular feta.
And I find the texture is actually much more creamy, so it's perfect when it hits the heat
of the warm fruit out of the oven.
So I just put the pecans to toast for an additional 3 minutes, and now is the perfect time to
get the vinaigrette finished.
So, this is the olive oil and honey that's been sitting for 20 minutes to get it nicely
infused, and I'm just going to strain it, and this is going to reserve the fresh rosemary
and also the peppercorns.
Nobody wants whole peppercorns in their vinaigrette.
And just kind of make sure you get all of that liquid out of those little corns there.
And then I'm going to add 1 tablespoon of good thick balsamic vinegar.
And whisk this up.
See that makes a nice thick rick emulsion.
Perfect vinaigrette!
So I've got a platter ready.
Some nice spring greens, and we're going to very gently put all of this warm fruit over
the greens.
It will kind of wilt them a little bit and make even those a little bit tender.
And kind of the whole salad becomes one at that point because of the hot fruit.
So, now it's time get the feta!
So this is nicely crumbled.
I didn't do it too finely.
You don't want to have little bits of cheese throughout your salad.
I like kind of larger more substantial bites.
And this you can kind of nestle it in between some of the fruit to get it a little bit soft
and it becomes even more delicious.
And then to finish off the salad we need our really fabulous Rosemary Vinaigrette.
So this is really thickened and it's just delicious.
I like to put it on with a little spoon so you don't over-saturate everything.
So I like to dress my salad not using all of the vinaigrette but maybe about half and
then once I serve it we can kind of adjust how much more vinaigrette we need to add,
if any.
And then to finish it off, you don't have to, but I love to add a little bit of French
fleur des sel.
It gives a little salty crunch, great texture on top of the fruit.
And, here it is!
My Roasted Fruit Salad with Rosemary Vinaigrette.
It's earthy, it's elegant, and it's vegetarian!

Weekly Planetary Astrology Forecast May 8 14, 2017 - Duration: 6:04.
Weekly Planetary Astrology Forecast May 8-14, 2017
The Moon is full in potent Scorpio.
Let the healing begin!
Scorpio knows if you dont identify the cause of the problem things will fester.
Watch for a sudden increase in emotional intelligence.
What you release makes space for the new to begin.
What you feel you can heal.
Growth through understanding.
Also this week, on Tuesday PST the moons Nodes are changing signs.
The nodes link us to our karma, our past and our present.
The last time the nodes were in Leo/Aquarius was in 1999-2000.
What pivotal events occurred during this time in your life?
For the next two years opportunities in similar areas will surface.
Leo is about unique you and Aquarius how we all fit into a greater whole.
Individual and community.
If you come from your heart (Leo) you can offer up your contribution for the greater
good (Aquarius).
The world needs you and you need the world.
This is a deep and powerful week of transformation.
The Scorpio full moon is exact at 2:42 pm PST.
The full moon is always opposite the current sun.
We have a Taurus sun and a Scorpio full moon.
These two are difficult opposites.
With opposites we are aiming for integration.
Balance.
Yin/Yang.
With fixed signs finding that balance is tricky to say the least.
Both are stubborn, both think, my way or the highway. There is an extreme off with
your head kind of energy with both Taurus and Scorpio.
This is the energy of estrangement.
The cast off, the abandoned.
Betrayal, madness and all that is taboo and hard to look at rises up during this Lunar
pull.
The aspects to this full moon are positive though.
So even if things seem intense in some way there is deep inner work being completed here.
Lifetimes of karma up for clearing.
Dues are always paid in full, karmically speaking.
We reap or we sow.
Youll know which when the time arrives.
This Full moon energy is followed by a stressful square between fiery Mars in curious Gemini
and Neptune in idealistic Pisces.
Squares create results.
They push us to make some kind of change.
We cant rest until we figure something out.
Pisces, often has its head in the clouds.
It swims about in the cosmic soup.
Intuitively knows there is so much more to know.
Gemini likes to keep moving but on the surface, just skimming along, keeping it interesting.
How can you use your ability to juggle new concepts to create the ideal reality that
is coming in and out of focus now?
Mental Mercury is trining Saturn which will give us all a very level head with a twist
of know-it-all magical thinking.
A fiery grand trine of energy to launch ourselves in prosperous new directions.
Self assertion is key.
Figuring out what to do and doing it.
Saturn is a taskmaster that gets things done.
Mercury gives you the mental dexterity to think yourself outside the box.
And the with the Leo North node we are now feeling a push to be ourselves; truly, totally,
us.
Friday luck will arrive.
Generous Jupiter trines lets-do-this Mars.
They say luck is what happens when preperations meets opportunity.
But you also have to be willing to jump, just take a deep breath close your eyes and do
it.
Reach out and grab the opportunities presenting.
To get the most out of this week make healing your first priority.
What can need healing in the areas of power, money, betrayal, abandonment, sex, death or
birth?
We all have Scorpio in our charts somewhere and Scorpio instinctively knows how to heal.
Use this energy to intend to heal these areas of your life in all directions of time.
Breath deeply into the feelings that come up.
Feel where they are in your body.
Breath light into this area.
Swirling, shimmering, sparkling light will transform any dark youve been carrying.
Now it is so.
So so simple- Many blessings brave light worker!
Thank you for your contribution.

MISSION: ONE for 22 — Ep. 3 | Revant Optics X Warfighter Made - Duration: 6:28.
(spray paint)
- Our biggest challenges so far,
getting the Flyer 22 ready for the Mexican 1000,
has been time.
Time hasn't been on our side and we're supposed
to leave tomorrow morning for Mexico.
- It's all going great at first,
it started right up and everyone was happy,
everyone's spirits were high.
Yes, we're gonna make this race
and we go ahead and try to put it in gear
and nothing really happened.
The tires weren't spinning.
We tried a million and one things
but the only fix is to replace the whole transmission.
- This is just a small test
that we're gonna pass with flying colors.
- Overall, people would fathom
why we would bring a vintage military vehicle down here
that was already broke.
- We have a warrior ecos
in the American military.
We never leave somebody behind.
And the fact that 22 was damaged,
we had an opportunity to pull the plug
and just send half the team home with a broken vehicle
or we could press on and we decided to press on.
We had to take a look at how we could do it safely.
We looked at the rule books to find
how we can do it legally.
- And I guess, if somebody was watching this at home
that was not a veteran, they might be scratching their head.
But I bet every veteran would be like, "Hell yeah,
"I get it."
- The whole message for One for 22
is to not quit in the face of adversity
so we made a decision to bring it down here
and push it across the starting line
and push it across the finish line.
Regardless to send a message to everyone
that you can't quit just because things
don't go your way.
- It's not the ideal situation but we're not quitting
so we're not gonna lose.
- The recreational aspect, the team aspect,
and the shit thing happens, that goes wrong.
You have to come together and that really will
make or break a team.
So, definitely the therapy is real
and it's kept me off the trigger.
- I think one of the most profound things
about our One for 22 fight down here for the Mexican 1000
is that what happened to us was just like what a lot
of vets that are contemplating suicide go through.
You've got to get through to the next day
and that's what we did.
- It's pretty cool to see ...
I was in front of 22, we had the strap on,
we pulled up to the line, I got my green flag.
I rolled forward and Mr. Perlman kinda looked at me
kinda really quizzical then looked back,
saw that I was strapped to 22 and then
the biggest smile came across his face.
He realized what we were trying to accomplish.
Flyer 1 wasn't gonna leave Flyer 22 behind on the line.
Any race team can come out here and run
and race or wreck or crash or not complete it.
Not every team was willing to carry another vehicle across.
Not drag, but to carry.
- We are already, out of 250 entries,
we are not in last place because so many people
have broken on Day One, put their vehicle on the trailer,
and left, went back home.
- Pulling into the pit, it was a great moment
seeing the team there gave me the biggest smile on my face.
Brought me back to that time of getting back from patrol
on base and having your squads come up and like,
"Yeah man, you good, you good. Need water?"
So that kinda brought me back to a happy moment
of that team aspect.
- I really, really, really enjoy racing.
Being able to get to do it with men and women
that have the same background as me
from the military is even better.
We're on the same page, we have similar backgrounds
and we can talk the lingo
and we can accomplish crazy missions that are thrown at us.
Sometimes life seems a little bit less stressful
if you have focus and a goal.
- Races like this are definitely my therapy.
Hand in hand, I'm a big rock climber too.
So between the rock climbing and the racing,
I'm alive today.
- Flyer 1, give me a status on the vehicle.
Status.
- Alright, I got you status on your vehicle.
The vehicle's doing awesome.
- World Fighter Meet is amazing
'cause they have a great shop where people can come together
and they can connect and grow and learn from each other.
Come here, and just expand that.
And then they're able to grow
with those connections through challenges.
- I think the numbers speak for themselves
about what we accomplished.
As a team of wounded warriors and disabled vets
and civilian supporters, Flyer 22 finished
as the last official finisher.
1 in 3 do not finish this race.
We brought down two vehicles
and got them both across the finish line.
We were able to take two 25-year-old vintage
last right vehicles, restore them,
and get them across the finish line
in 68th position and 135th position.
I think that's extraordinary.

JUSTICE IS SERVED!
Top Democrat ARRESTED For TREASON Charges, You'll Be Speechless
Republican Georgia Sen. David Perdue dropped a bombshell on Thursday when he uncovered
on the Senate floor that 30 Democratic legislators met with the Russian minister in 2015 to pitch
President Obama's nuclear Iran deal, all while transparently supporting Democratic
presidential applicants.
The Daily Caller announced that Perdue did this to attempt and guard Attorney General
Jeff Sessions against allegations that he deceived Congress about his interchanges to
a Russian minister amid Donald Trump's presidential crusade.
He slammed his Democrat associates for "slandering" a previous individual from the upper chamber.
"We have literally reached a point where members of this body are slandering former
colleagues for having and taking the same opportunities afforded to them," Perdue
said.
"This morning my colleague, the senior senator from Missouri [Claire McCaskill], tweeted
that she had never, ever, met with or taken a call from the Russian Ambassador.
But her own Twitter account proved that she has at least twice in the last four years."
A while ago when he was a congressperson, Sessions served on the Senate Armed Services
Committee with Perdue and Democratic Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, who wound up putting
forth clashing expression about her contacts with the Russian minister.
"Thirty members, as a matter of fact, of this body met with the Russian Ambassador
and ambassadors from other nations in 2015 for a sales pitch on President Obama's deal
with Iran.
Many of them — including the senior senator from Missouri — were open supporters at
that time of candidates in the presidential race," he said.
