Today let's see the 5 important tips in lightroom.
This photograph opened in lightroom develop module.
If you look at the exposure it has not been adjusted and its 0-0.
If you look at the histogram, there is a lot of space in the right side of the histogram.
Let us push the exposure slider towards right.
I stopped at 1.1.
And still I can see some darkness in the bamboo leaves. Let us push further.
Push it till 2 and we will see how it is.
Now it looks better.
The histogram also is pushed towards the maximum I guess.
There is no more space available in the right side.
I have enabled the warning signs in the histogram.
I have pressed J in the keyboard.
It will enable the warning signs.
If there are highlights, blown outs, spaces anything it will be notified.
Look at this photograph.
It is a wide angle photograph.
It is directly opened in lightroom develop module.
If you look at the lens corrections panel there are checkboxes which says enable profile
correction and remove chromatic aberrations.
Just go and enable these corrections.
You can see realtime Difference.
The lens is automatically picked up by lightroom, the data has been applied from RAW file.
If you enable chromatic aberration you may not see much difference but in detail there
are some corrections which are applied and it is helpful.
This picture opened in develop module and by default sharpening sliders look like this
in lightroom.
The first one is amount, it can be somewhere from 60 to 100.
I generally keep it between 80 to 95.
For this photograph 85 is enough.
Press and hold alt key to check how much of amount is applied.
Radius; I generally keep it untouched.
This slider means one pixel radius.
You can keep it at 0.8 or 0.9 or you can go to 1.2 or 1.3 for certain photographs.
This one, generally you don't have to make any adjustments.
Detail - Because of applying sharpening some details will go off.
In order to bring it back we can push the details slider towards right.
This helps to bring in some details.
Masking which is the most important slider out of these 4.
Just press alt and hold.
Now move the masking slider and you will slowly start seeing things on your photograph,.
The edges start appearing.
What does this mean?
This means the entire photograph will get the sharpening.
As you push towards the right only the edges which you choose, will get sharpening.
For this photograph giving masking 100 makes sense.
Leave it that way and check out the output.
You will see the difference.
This photograph opened in develop module and the tone curve looks like this.
No corrections have been applied.
There is a preset here, if you look down, below the tone curve.
Linear, medium and strong contrast.
Just picking from linear to medium contrast.
The tone curve is automatically applied by lightroom and picture looks much better.
Let us look back.
This is linear and this is medium contrast.
You may go ahead and choose strong contrast as well if you feel good.
For this photograph strong is little strong actually.
I feel medium is enough here.
This photograph opened in develop module.
If you look at the colours here the green is not that green.
The white balance sliders are not adjusted and straight from the camera as shot.
Let us fix this by pushing the temperature slider towards the right from 4650 to around 4850.
now this looks better but not perfect.
lets adjust the tint slider also to get the green perfectly.
tint is now at +18.
now bring the tint slider towards the left, from +18 to +2 or 3.
now the greens look much better.
