Surgery for Breast Asymmetric-Dr.Cortes-YouTube - Duration: 7:07.

Hi, this is Dr. Hourglass, and welcome to another video in our channel Wonder Breasts.

Today we are going to discuss: Surgery for breast asymmetrie.

In this channel we discuss everything related to breast surgery.

Welcome back!

Absolute symmetry of the breasts is extremely rare in women.

In most cases, there is a difference between the two breasts that the patient may even be unaware of.

If the differences are minimal, the patient usually does not see it, and it is the plastic surgeon's responsibility

to discuss this during the preliminary consultations.

For some, the differences can be extreme with one breast visibly larger than the other.

In some cases, the asymmetries in the breasts are due to the lack of chest muscles on one side of the breast.

Also, there are many cases in which, one or both breasts have nipple areolas at different heights

or different positions such as veering to the sides or too in the middle.

Asymmetries are also possible at the inframammary fold, with one breast positioned higher and one lower.

In the case of very small breasts, the inframammary fold might be nonexistent, and the plastic surgeon

will have to create it during the breast augmentation surgery.

Sometimes, there is such a big difference between the two breasts that they look like

they belong to different persons.

As previously discussed, not all breast asymmetries can be easily corrected with the help of plastic surgery.

The plastic surgeon should properly evaluate the asymmetries and recommend the best possible

corrective procedures for your consideration.

If the breasts have different sizes, silicone implants with different volumes can be used to rebalance,

but note that the difference in volume between the two breasts will be difficult to conceal.

If implants of the same volume will be introduced on breasts that are already monumentally asymmetric,

then the unaesthetic asymmetry will simply be all the more visible.

This is why the experience of the plastic surgeon is essential and critical.

I prefer to combine the breast implants of different volumes to match the volume of the breasts.

When the asymmetry is concentrated on the inframammary fold, the corrections are easier

to perform, and the results are almost always satisfactory.

If the asymmetry is in size and shape of the nipples, it can be easily corrected with a periareolar incision.

After the surgery, the areolas will look similar, but the healing process can influence their dimensions

so they might get back to their initial shape even after the surgical correction.

More often than not, correcting breast asymmetries will need a combination of more than one interventions

to achieve a result closer to the expectations of the patient.

In this video, we discussed Surgery for breast asymmetries.

Next week we will discuss: Precautions before breast surgery.
