At least a little bit of English?
Do people really need convincing, need a reason to learn to speak the only true global language?
I guess they do, and since you've clicked on this video I guess you do too
Today I will be sharing my reasons for learning English with the hope that they will motive you too
do people really need a reason learn to speak English
I can understand the doubts people have about learning other languages
learning a third language
You speak your native language and English but should you learn Chinese or French
as you next foreign language
Or perhaps Japanese or why not Spanish?
400 million people speak Spanish
Well I cannot help you make that decision
Chinese seems like a good 3rd choice but Spanish is not that bad either
However this is not what this video is about.
This video is about reasons for learning English.
here are my top 3 reasons for learning English
First reason is that English is the language of international travel
Traveling is arguably the best hobby a person can have.
I've been places and there has never been a country
I wasn't able to get around with a bit of English
Everybody is talking how hard it could be to travel around France because
the French would not speak English
I had no problems whatsoever in France with my English
actually the first book I sold outside of Japan was in France
My second reason is that English is the true global language of business
There is no need for me to prove this point so I will just move on to my third and
most important reason for studying English
My third reason is that most good quality information on the Internet is in English
You are looking for information on stomach pain for you child
most of the good stuff on the Internet is in English
You want to learn how to speak Japanese
most of the good learning materials and dictionaries on the Internet are in English
You would like to learn to how to draw most of the good YouTube videos are in English
Useful information about your health, about your child's education, about your hobby and
I'm not even going talk about the amount of helpful information about your business.
The best motivation for learning English is not to think of it as learning English but
learning good quality information
through English
Your main motivation should be to learn valuable information.
Learning the language is just an added bonus
Why is most good quality information in English?
Because English is the official language of science.
"By 2000, among journals recognized by Journal Citation Reports, 96% were in English."
Plus English is the language of Wikipedia.
English dominates the Internet.
Focus on the information first, and on the language second.
And I have one more reason for learning English, a bonus one which is less universal
Movies
I love Hollywood movies, and they are so much more fun when you watch them in original
without subtitles
So much better
But I didn't learn English in order to watch movies nor do I watch movies in order to learn English
I watch movies because I like movies and I just happened to learn English along the way

is it valuable for me to have a Facebook presence

There are over 15 million users who visit Facebook
on a daily basis, even if they're not in business mode,
they're still a potential customer
that can see your business and be appealed
or connected to it in some way.
It's almost like when you're on holiday
and you're reading a magazine, and you see an article
that relates to your business world,
by the time you get back to work, you have a memory of that
and it sparks some sort of relationship
or some sort of knowing about that particular brand.
The second thing is, is what does organic posting mean?
Now that means, basically, that you're loading content
directly to your Facebook page yourself, for free.
It's very difficult to get cut through on Facebook
in terms of organic, in that if you post something,
not all of your friends and followers are likely to see it,
in fact, it's down to about 2%.
However, having a Facebook page is a credibility factor,
if people are checking you out and wanna know more
about you, they're interested in doing something with you,
but they're not quite sure,
they're not only gonna check out your website now,
they're gonna check out your Facebook page.
So if you haven't got anything there except for a post about
a cat from two years ago, it might not present
your business as well as it could be.

Hi, my name is Mike Bazinet and I'm a product support specialist at Medtronic (Canada).
I've been working for Medtronic for about a year and a half now
and in product support my job is, I'm the voice ant the end of the telephone that you call
when you've got questions about your (insulin) pump
or if you're having problems calibrating your sensor
or if you're finding you have some difficulty uploading your pump (data) to CareLink.
So my job is to troubleshoot these types of things
and I find it quite energizing because what I like most about my job is
every day I have an impact on somebody's life, whether it be explaining how calibration works
and you get that little eureka moment and you're able to use your sensors
or just being able to help you to upload your pump to CareLink so that
your doctor can see the settings in your pump and all the readings that they've gotten from
your sensor
or if I get a call from say a mother whose daughter 's pump stopped functioning and she
doesn't know what to do
I had a case like that not too long ago, I got a call from a lady who was in Cape Breton Island
she was hiking with her daughter and about half way into their hike she suddenly noticed
that the pump wasn't working.
She had a button error which means that you can't control the pump so the pump needs to
be replaced
so I quickly explained to her that the pump was still under warranty and would be replaced
and that she would get the (new) pump that same day
well, she was amazed by that, she even called me Superman, she said that was so fast
and I explained to her, Medtronic has depots all over the country that allows us to give
you that fast service
and we had a depot in Dartmouth and that's why we were able to get a pump to her within
8 hours
She wrote a letter and actually an article for her local newspaper, so I'd like to quote
a little bit of what she wrote
"The calm voice on the other end of the phone quickly took control and told me not to worry
and that we would a pump in our hands later that evening, and we did.
8 hours after our teary, panic filled phone call for help
we had a replacement pump inour hands
I'm sure he would just say he was doing his job, and that may very well be true
but he did his job with kindness
and a soothing voice and he made the whole experience manageable and less fearful
I would hope this message finds him and he know how grateful my daughter and I are
and I wish him well and thank him for being extraordinary in his ordinary going about
business day"

But the feeling that I got from this letter I can get when I'm talking to people on the phone

I have been with Medtronic for the last 6 years and they have been 6 wonderful years.
The heart of what I do every day is listen to our customers, empathize, resolve issues
and to ensure that customers know that we are on this journey along with them, each and every day.
There are times when customers might be in a situation where they are short on supplies
it might be a last minute thing and we will do our best to get our customer their supplies.
As an individual or as a team we pull together to insure our customers are never left without
as this is so important for their daily lives.
A situation that arose earlier last year in May, our friends in Fort Mac Murray, Alberta
suffered the devastating effects of the forest fires,
we immediately reached out to our customers to let them know
that we are here to help them in any way we can
that we are here in the good times and the not so good times, the challenging times,
if they needed supplies, anything to do with their (insulin) pumps we're here just a phone

Hello, my name is Kary Cupples. I'm a Medtronic inside sales diabetes consultant.
I've been with the company for over 10 years now
One of my roles with the company is I speak with individuals and families
that are looking at insulin pump therapy for the first time and address any questions or
concerns they may have
and assist them with the full process.
We also talk about the various government funding programs that are available
and financial assistance programs that are offered
I also do insurance verification and assist with the insurance companies, I deal with
the insurance carriers directly
and help access available coverage for patients.
One of our roles is to work with the field team, the territory manager and the clinical
specialist
along with the patient's health care provider to insure that
the patient's needs have been addressed
before they start on insulin pump therapy and also to make sure their proper training
has been arranged
and we do a follow-up to make sure that everything is to their satisfaction.
One of the example when working with insurance companies, I had a patient call me up,
she had received a denial letter for her insulin pump purchase and she was quite concerned,
she asked if I could look into it for her
so with the assistance of her health care provider I sent the information to the insurance carrier
and I'm happy to say after the appeal she ended up with full coverage for the insulin
pump and the supplies
she is doing very well on her pump and very happy everything worked out.
This is not always the case but I'm so glad that this worked out for the patient,
we do work as hard as we can to insure a good success rate but sometimes it doesn't always work out.

TO OFFSET THE GAS TAX INCREASE,
THE GOVERNOR'S PLAN
CALLS FOR A DECREASE IN THE TAX
ON GROCERIES.
