ABANDONED WAL-MART REOPENING AS A SHELTER FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS (PAID FOR BY TAXPAYERS,
OF COURSE)
An abandoned Walmart in Brownsville, Texas will soon be home to 100s of illegal immigrant
minors, many of them late in their teen years, thanks to your federal tax dollars.
According to a report from a local ABC affiliate in Brownsville, the facility is currently
being converted into a shelter by a nonprofit organization called Southwest Key, which receives
the majority of its funding from federal tax dollars via the Office of Refugees Resettlement.
A Southwest Key spokeswoman confirmed the facility is set to open on March.
They said itll be to welcome unaccompanied minors who crossed into the U.S. illegally.
It will be the 4th facility in Brownsville to shelter children, under the age of 17,
who have crossed into the U.S. without an adult.
Southwest Key is federally funded by the Office of Refugees Resettlement.
The groups mission is to provide a safe environment for unaccompanied children while
they wait to be reunited with a sponsor or relative in the U.S.
Southwest Key officials said children are supervised during their stay.
The program ensures youngsters have a safe place to sleep, are fed, educated and also
have access to healthcare and counseling services.
Of course, the report drew a lot of criticism from local Brownsville residents, many of
whom questioned whether the money shouldnt be redirected to fund a shelter for veterans
and/or the homeless.
Screenshot 2017-01-30 at 1.30.56 AM As background, according to WND, Southwest
Key has an annual budget of $150 million and operates 27 shelters for illegal immigrants
in Texas, Arizona and California.
Per the Southwest Key website: Southwest Key Programs is a private, nonprofit
organization founded in 1987 to keep young people out of institutions and empower them
with the skills, knowledge and tools they need to succeed.
Through an exceptionally competent and diverse staff, Southwest Key empowers youth and their
families to make positive changes in their lives including at our 27 immigrant childrens
shelters in Texas, Arizona and California.
Southwest Key Unaccompanied Minor shelters operate as a self-contained unit, delivering
shelter, food, healthcare, education, recreation, case management and legal services to the
children in our care.
We are required by the federal government to provide everything that a child needs in
order to thrive in a humane and homelike environment.
As a result, there is little interaction between the children in our services and the surrounding
community, save for those businesses and employees engaged in their care on-site.
Healthcare: The overwhelming majority of medical services are done on site by Southwest Keys
fully-staffed, licensed medical professionals who ensure the health of the children in our
shelters.
Every child receives a full, medical exam by a doctor within 24 to 48 hours of entering
our facilities, including receiving all the CDC recommended immunizations and being screened
for any infectious diseases.
Education: While in our care, all unaccompanied minors receive educational services.
Our presence in a community does not impact children in the local school system as our
kids receive all educational services separate and distinct from local children and they
never have an opportunity to interact with one another.
Screenshot 2017-01-30 at 1.28.55 AM If Southwest Key sounds familiar, its probably
because its the same Southwest Key that drew criticism from Senator Chuck Grassley
back in 2014 for using taxpayer money to provide a petting zoo and guitar lessons to their
illegal immigrant residents at a cost of over $300 per child per day.
Per the Washington Times: One of the contractors housing some of the
surge of illegal immigrant children from this summer offers them a petting zoo with miniature
ponies, a tilapia fish farm operation and guitar lessons, according to documents released
Thursday by a senator who questioned whether the plush accommodations were a good use of
taxpayers money.
Sen. Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Republican, said it seemed excessive to pay the $329 that
Southwest Key Programs, the contractor, charged per child per day at one of its California
facilities in Lemon Grove, California.
Another facility in El Cajon cost taxpayers $316 per child per day.

It's pretty juvenile if you ask me.
I mean, the street is named for a prominent old family.
I disagree.
The word "boner" is objectively hilarious.
The human penis has no skeletal material of any kind.
Wow, you really are overthinking this.
I mean, the kids, they steal street signs that sound

There's nothing humorous about nocturnal penile tumescence.

ATTREX Chapter 1: What is ATTREX? - Duration: 8:51.
♪
>>Our planet is a living example of a delicate balance
a complex system that is constantly changing,
constantly evolving, constantly adapting.
How do these changes affect life on Earth?
How does everyday life affect our planet?
We have a great capability to absorb, interpret and comprehend
And an urge to understand the world we live in.
This is what defines us as human beings...
What makes us who we are.
With our technological advancements
we are now capable of exploring new worlds, new frontiers.
We're searching for answers that may lay in front of us...
Better yet... above us!
The field phase of the experiment is about to begin.
All the planning, sleepless nights, meetings and hard work
the team has invested in the mission are at stake.
My name is Jasna Pittman,
and I'm one of the many scientists working on
the Airborne Tropical Tropopause Experiment (ATTREX)
>>It is very natural for humans
to want to understand how the world around us works.
>>Why the atmosphere does what it does?
It's like solving a puzzle!
>>You just want to understand how it works.
>>We're trying to understand how we're affecting,
how humans are affecting the atmosphere.
>>Understanding how the stratosphere changes
very much reflects how our climate is changing.
>>I think that the work that is done in atmospheric science
is very important! But it's also a lot of fun!
>>It's like the best job possible!
♪
>>NASA has been doing airborne science investigations
for quite some time.
Some of the earliest investigations we were doing
was related to the early days of the Antarctic ozone hole.
>>In 2009 we started a new program called the Earth Venture Program.
It's got three parts; and the first of those parts
is what we call sub-orbital science.
this is science done not including a new satellite.
>>With some of these newer missions
we have let the community come up with their own ideas,
their own way of implementing the mission,
what their own science requirements are
and they bring their measurements to the table.
>>And ATTREX had very good science,
was very relevant to the kind of questions we wanted answered,
and its budget was reasonable and appropriate.
>>So ATTREX is an airborne campaign to try to understand
how stratospheric water vapor affects climate.
>>It causes perhaps, maybe, 15 to 20 percent
of the warming that we've had in the past 15 or 20 years.
>>It turns out that small changes in humidity in the stratosphere
are very important for climate and for surface temperature.
They are actually comparable to the importance
of greenhouse gases that everybody knows about.
>>So we know that carbon dioxide was less 30 years ago.
Methane was less 30 years ago.
Nitrous oxide was less 30 years ago.
So we know these gases are increasing with time.
>>Gases that affect the chemistry of the stratosphere
which is where the ozone layer exists
and protects us from ultraviolet radiation.
>>So understanding the rate at which this stuff
gets into the stratosphere and how it changes
is extremely important to looking at the climate
of the stratosphere and how the stratosphere climate affects
the lower atmosphere.
>>So we really need to understand
what controls the humidity of the stratosphere
and actually be able to predict that in the future
in order to improve the accuracy
of our predictions of future climate change.
And it turns out that the most important place to go sample
to understand that, is the tropical upper troposphere.
The top of the troposphere in the tropics is called
the "tropopause" which is actually at a very high-altitude
which is why we need a high altitude aircraft to study it.
>>So the tropical tropopause
is at about 55,000 feet in the tropics.
So if you go down to the equator you have to go up quite high
above 50,000 feet.
And the tropical tropopause is really important to the global atmosphere
because most of the gases that get into the stratosphere,
all the air that is circulating upward into the stratosphere,
goes through this tropical tropopause region.
>>So that is basically a gateway to the stratosphere.
General circulation transports air upward in the tropics,
goes into the stratosphere,
and then spread throughout the stratosphere
and comes down at the higher latitudes in the polar regions.
>>And this is what ATTREX is focused on,
to look at that motion of air into the stratosphere
and how the water is removed
from that air as it rises upward.
>>We know a lot about it, but there are some puzzles
about the details of how the clouds form,
and under what conditions they form.
So that's probably the most important thing
that we hope to gain from ATTREX.
>>ATTREX will address a number of really important issues.
It'll give us a better understanding of the exchange
between the troposphere and stratosphere
and how that impacts atmospheric composition.
How that affects the chemistry in the upper atmosphere.
And, in the longer term,
how that will affect the climate.
>>And that will help us to understand as we go forward
trying to figure out what to do about climate change
to better predict it and make better decisions.
>>How does the interaction between the upper troposphere
and the lower stratosphere affects us down below?
How are we going to find out?
We have the questions.
Now, we'll be searching for the answers.

SPECIAL REPORT: Meth Contamination and Insurance - Duration: 7:34.
There's been a lot of talk of late in
relation to the contamination caused to
property by the use and production of
methamphetamine. Now while the testing of
properties for contamination might be
something quite new here in Australia.
You only need look at our
neighbours in New Zealand, who have been
actively testing properties for some time.
To see how things will likely progress moving forward
Now while testing the properties
will largely be focused on rental
properties. There is a growing trend for
houses to be tested when being sold as
part of the contract for sale.. being
subject to the passing of a meth test.
Luckily Steven from OCTIEF, a meth testing company,
reached out to help explain the process
and was kind enough to sit down on camera.
Enjoy! So contamination can come from
the tenants of a property operating an
illegal drug lab or it can come
from long-term exposure to people
smoking meth or ice the property as
well. Historically, I guess most people are
only aware of contamination coming from
drug labs so certainly there's a lot of
focus there and that's what we get
engaged quite often is where there's a
known contamination issue from a drug lab.
But certainly as people are becoming more aware of
the health risks with smoking meth in a
property and the residue left behind.
That's by and far a larger portion of
our testing these days. In our business
in New Zealand across our 5 branches there
we see over fifty percent of the tests
come back as positive to some level of
contamination now that's not all of them
above a safe or below a safe level that's
a presence in around fifty percent.
In Australia it's probably higher, because
it's probably around eighty percent
positive hits in Australia, now that's not
necessarily because there's more use in
Australia but probably from where our
inquiries are coming from, where people
are testing on suspicion of tenants or a
previous occupant using the drug in the
property.
Historically the positive rate was
much higher because it was done around
suspicion testing but as the market
it's adopted more of a proactive
screening approach, that's where we've seen
the positives come down around that fifty
percent at the moment. Of that fifty
percent, of the fifty percent around
fifty percent of those have exceeded
the safe guidelines. So approximately
twenty-five percent of what we tested
have come back at levels that exceed the
health base standards. Well the chemical can
be detected after a single use in the
property but it builds up over time. So
it's usually longer term exposure from
tenants or property tenants smoking meth
that creates a high level of
contamination. Given the nature of the
drug's high toxicity levels will leave
more residue than lower toxicity levels
and certainly exposure over time and
depending on how they've ventilated the property
and everything else.
So there's a lot of variables there as to
whether it's 1 or 10 or 20 or 100 times the requirement.
The Australian government has
released the clandestine drug lab
remediation guidelines which is a very
strict approach to remediating for both
methamphetamine residue as
well as other precursor chemicals that are
carcinogens in the property. So depending
on the level of contamination determines
the remediation method and there's no
one single approach to remediation. We
are talking about residue from smoking ICE on the
property, in lower levels of
contamination a detailed clean can often
remove the residue, in high levels
of contamination it needs a deconstruction
so we're talking about stripping out
interior fittings, but the residue binds itself to
soft furnishings so at a
minimum level we remove carpet or you'd advise
removal of carpets, fans, anything
that circulates air through the property
and then deal with other hard surfaces
depending on how they treated, so if their
more pores they might need to be removed
but if they well sealed it might mean
that we can do a surface clean. Under the
Australian clandestine laboratory
remediation guidelines, anything above point
five micrograms per hundred square
centimeters
needs to be remediated. When we're
talking about contamination from a
non-drug lab scenario which one's been
smoking meth in a property... We look to our
neighboring partners such as New
Zealand, have done studies and it's
usually anything around 1.5 to 2
micrograms per hundred square
centimeters anything, above that level is
deemed to be unsafe in New Zealand.
Australia doesn't have the same level of
regulations of screening for properties
for meth contamination from use that
New Zealand does. There are standards
around what the screening looks like...
And they're being developed at the moment
being workshopped into the market but
there is an expectation such as... same as
in Australia that landlords provide
properties in safe and habitable
conditions and that's being tested
through some court challenges in New
Zealand. In Australia we've seen a lot more
demand for the screening service that
we've been offering and I think that it
won't be dictated by the government so
much as the public will start to adopt
over time as they become more aware of
what chemical residue contamination
risks posed for their families. We
see issues such as children
exhibiting ADHD or attention ... or
problems with focusing attention. Longer
term exposure can cause damage to organs
such as kidneys and livers and
we also are aware that it can cause
reproductive issues such as birth
defects and miscarriages as well. Cleaners
quote from a couple thousand dollars
for a clean of a property at low levels
of contamination right through to where
there is deconstruction and reinstatement
required up to a hundred to two hundred
thousand dollars on more sophisticated
homes.
Typically we can offer a screening
service for around five hundred and fifty
dollars per property... and that's for a
standard three to four bedroom style home
which will establish if there is some
baseline residue left in the property. If
you talking about a more detailed
investigation for a clandestine laboratory
it starts at a few thousand
dollars given the scientific nature of
that testing as well. From the time we
arrive on site to getting laboratory
results back it's typically a five-day
turnaround
time. If your are interested in screening of a
property to determine say a baseline
level of contamination the best way to
do that is to jump onto our website
www.screenformeth.com.au where you can organise
a baseline test.
And that'll allow you to establish
whether there is or isn't any meth
contamination already in a property. If you're talking
about a known or suspected drug lab
scenario or known if there's been police
activity there... you're better off calling OCTIEF
directly to engage one of our
occupational scientists, because that
level of testing is far more detailed.

What is God's Will for my life? - Duration: 2:35.
Asking what is God's Will for my life? is one of the most important questions you can
ever ask.
Because nobody wants to waste their life!
We all want to actually make a difference in our lives.
To find deep meaning and tap into what makes us come alive, we want to solve those injustices
that we are so passionate about.
We all want our lives to count, to actually make an impact in the world.
Did you know the #1 Deathbed regret….is "I wish I didn't live the life others
expected of me".
In other words, I wish I lived a life that was true to my heart!
So don't do that, don't aimlessly live a life that others want you to, live the life
God has called you to live.
But How do you do that?
By making your life about something much bigger than yourself…By leaving a legacy.
See sometimes a destiny can be selfish and only about you but a legacy is always about
others and something bigger than just you.
As Erwin McManus says, "The greatest danger in your life is to pursue a destiny that leaves
no legacy."
So, don't do that, don't pursue a destiny that's only about your own glory, pursue
one that's about God's glory.
1 Corinthians 10 tells us whatever we do, that we are to do it to the glory of God,
for the GLORY of God.
Another thing to remember is God's Will for your life is more general than it is specific.
Because there are MANY things God has given you the opportunity to walk into.
Colossians 3 says "Whatever you do, (or whatever you choose to do), do everything
in the name of the Lord Jesus."
That means in a way that honors Christ or in a way that conveys you belong to Christ.
See God's primary calling for you is to belong to Christ and to participate in his redemptive
kingdom work in the world.
And that applies to everyone…farmers, accountants, janitors, pastors…
There is no distinction between the sacred and secular.
A humble janitor can bring more honor and glory to God than a prideful pastor.
It's all about your heart more so than your job title.
It's important to note though that sometimes you have to try out new things.
Revelation 3 says "I have placed before you an open door".
See there are a variety of open doors you can walk into but choose the open door where
"the adventure of yes seems more alive than the safety of no."
-John Ortberg
And for those of you who think you've missed it, you're too old, you're too far off,
you've sinned too much….You have not!
Think of a GPS in your car.
When you go off route, it tells you re-routing turn left here, turn around here.
And that's what God does, his mercy and grace always get us back on track to what
he has called us to do in our lives.
