Hey guys, Natalie here.
I wanted to switch up what I've been doing the last couple weeks and make it more of
a learning experience.
The reason for that is I've recently discovered that my main purpose in life is to revolutionize
learning and how we see ourselves and the world.
What I've been doing is reflecting on my life and what I've been experiencing is that there
are a lot of things that feed into how we interpret the world around us, the actions
we take, the beliefs that we carry that we don't really realize are even impacting us.
They're kind of invisible forces if you will.
One of these things is perspective.
So it's my theme for the week and what I'm going to be talking about - I'm actually going to
be making a video every single day this week.
Like I've done in my other videos, I'm going to start with just the basic definition.
If you look this word up, there are a few definitions but the one that I am really targeting
here is perspective is a view point, an attitude that you have towards something.
So it's a very basic definition in a lot of ways.
The reason why I'm talking about it is because, in a lot of ways, again, it touches and impacts
almost everything that we do in a lot ways.
Let me give you an example.
If I came up to you on the street or you saw me in the grocery store and if I was wearing
a nice blazer a fancy outfit, looked very business, the way you would interact with
me would be very different than if I was in flannel, like I am today, and say, wearing
a beanie.
So for perspective, I'll put a beanie on.
If you saw me like this and you knew I was from Colorado, you would probably interact
with me very differently.
Now the reason for me saying this is, the way you're interpreting the way that I look
and the way that I dress doesn't change who I am, I'm still the same person before and
after when I put the beanie on.
I'm still the same person, I have all the same history, all the same intelligence, all
the same perspectives of the world, however when someone else sees me, they may see and
interpret this in a lot of different ways.
The way they interpret the way that I look is going to impact the way that they talk
to me, the assumptions they make about me and my life and my choices, how intelligent
I am, if they speak to me or not speak to me.
All of these things are impacted just by the way that I look and the way that someone puts
in perspective how I look in their mind.
The filters they use, the way they interpret the world.
As you can see, with this filter that we're constantly carrying, our brains are very naturally
wired to take this step and to label and to interpret what is going on around us.
It's a natural process.
It's very healthy for us to do.
The problem with it is that if we don't realize that it's happening, and we don't understand
how our perspectives are changing the way that we behave, and we're not in control of
it on any level, chances are that a lot of your behaviors are not going to be in line
with the way that you want to see the world.
They're not actually helping yourself move forward, they're not helping others move forward, and
they're limiting the experiences that we have.
That is why I am talking about this topic this week.
It is a huge, huge piece of our life and again, a lot of us don't really understand the way
that our mind works enough to impact our behavior.
And that's what I want to bring to your awareness this week.
I'm very excited to talk about this topic.
It's something that I have a lot of passion about and so I'm going to be releasing 5 videos
throughout the week.
They're not going to be very long but each one's going to have a different lesson or
different technique that we can use to start being in control of our perspectives, start
checking ourselves, making sure that, again, those automatic filters that are going on
in our minds are what we want them to be, not just what is automatically happening.
Stay tuned, I'm very excited to be releasing these and sharing these with your this week.
Let me know what you think.
Let me know what your thoughts are - I'd love to hear from you.
I'll talk to you guys soon.
Have a great week.
