So, how much do you charge?
Um… Four… Twelve?
You all want to know this.
In this video, we're going to talk about how to find the right price in a brand deal
and we're going to share our process that you can copy and apply to your own channel.
When working with brands, and especially if money is involved
things can go wrong.
Certainly happened to us, and in hindsight, it could've been avoided
if we knew some of the tips we're about to share with you.
The first rule of the brand deal is
don't be random.
It is difficult to justify a price
if you don't know why you're asking for that price.
Second rule of the brand deal
don't underprice yourself.
If a brand promises you future work in order for you to lower your prices
or give them a discount, be careful.
But let's get specific.
The price of a brand deal consists of three different parts.
Part one is the creative.
That is basically your time and production costs to produce the video.
Media is a fee spent by a brand in order to reach an audience.
It can be paid to a TV station to get them to run the brand's ad during Super Bowl.
Or it can be spent on YouTube
to get them to run the brand's ad in front of other videos.
But it can also be spent to you
in order for you to include the brand's message
in one of your videos and reach your audience.
If a brand wants to use your video for their website
or uploading on their YouTube channel
or another one of their platforms
don't forget to charge a buyout.
A buyout is a fee that you charge when a brand wants to use your face
on any other platform but your own.
So, just as a reference, in Germany
we would change one day-rate extra for one year online
and three day-rates extra for one year on television.
In negotiations, stand your ground.
Be confident.
And you can be, after all, you know why you charged this price.
It's not random, it's not a weird number that you pulled out of a hat.
You know why you need this money to produce this video.
Bottom line: be sustainable and scalable.
Overall, try to figure out
how many videos you can do realistically in one year
and then think about how much money you need in one year
in order to cover all of your expenses and be profitable.
Now you have the ballpark of how much money you need to charge.

over and over again
and that we wish would've been answered for us when we started working with brands.

Gonzalo Higuain's agent set for Juventus talks over striker's future
Gonzalo Higuain's brother and agent Nicolas is set to meet with Juventus executives to talk about the striker's future, according to Sky in Italy.
It is understood that Higuain wants to establish exit terms with Juventus before seeking an agreement with other clubs this summer.
Sky in Italy are reporting that while there has been no direct contact from Chelsea with Higuain, Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have shown an interest.
AC Milan have also been linked with Higuain and it is understood he would be open to moving to the San Siro.
However, that might not be possible financially as the 30-year-old does not want to lower his current salary of 7.5m euros a year.
Juventus and AC Milan are also in talks over a potential swap involving Leonardo Bonucci and Mattia Caldara, while a deal to take Higuain to Milan on a two-year loan could be included as part of the swap.
A potential deal which would see Alvaro Morata move from Chelsea to AC Milan is also dependent on the outcome of the Higuain situation as the Stamford Bridge club want 65-70m euros for the striker, which is too much for the Rossoneri.

American singer-songwriter Demi Lovato was rushed to a hospital on July 24 after an apparent
heroin overdose, according to reports from TMZ.
The media outlet confirmed the overdose happened at Lovato'sHollywood Hills home just days
after performing her new single, "Sober."
Lovato, 25, has been candid about her love affair with drugs.
She first tried cocaine at 17, she has said, and was immediately hooked.
"I loved it," Lovato said in her recently released YouTube documentary "Simply Complicated."
"I felt out of control with the coke the first time that I did it."
Lovato has since battled drug addiction, which she revealed has plagued her family.
Lovato's mother desperately tried to keep her daughter away from drugs after watching
firsthand how drugs destroyed her own family.
"My dad was an addict and an alcoholic," said Lovato.
"I guess I always searched for what he found in drugs and alcohol because it fulfilled
him and he chose that over a family."
Lovato had been 6 years sober from alcohol, cocaine and Oxycontin.
But she had relapsed, and even wrote about it in her newly released single, "Sober."
In the song, Lovato apologized to her parents and fans for not being sober anymore.
She had just performed the single on July 22 at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso
Robles with entertainer Iggy Azalea.
Lovato was slated to perform this weekend in Atlantic City.
Friends and fans have been expressing their distress for the ailing star on social media.
"I love u," Ariana Grande said to Lovato on Twitter.
Others have written to wish Lovato a full recovery, lamenting over the disaster that
drugs bring upon entire families and communities.
Lovato was reportedly given Narcan at her home before being transported to the hospital.
As of now, no statement has been issued regarding her condition.
