Fans of Ivanka Trump's clothing line were shocked when the first daughter announced
on July 24th, 2018 that her eponymous fashion brand would be shutting down for good.
Since 2011, the brand purported to provide relatively affordable professional-wear options
for women.
But for people paying close attention, the brand's downfall has been a long time coming.
From reportedly stolen shoe designs and flammable scarves, to deplorable working conditions
for employees, here's the inside scoop on why the ritzy fashion company is no more.
Down the escalator
Ivanka Trump's clothing line officially announced its closure in July 2018, but the start of
its slow decline began much earlier.
In fact, the beginning of the fashion brand's downfall may have commenced in June 2015,
when dad Donald Trump officially announced his bid for the presidency of the United States.
During a 2015 sit-down interview with Fortune, the eldest Trump daughter was asked if she
was happy her father was running for president.
Her response?
"Are you happy your father is running for President?
AH.. that's a complicated question."
Whether or not Ivanka thought her father would actually go on to win the election, there's
no question the future first daughter realized from the start the amount of scrutiny a Donald
Trump campaign would mean for her, her family, and her business.
Girl on fire
It wasn't just the optics that tore down the Ivanka Trump brand.
The products had some problems too.
In April 2016, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that the
Global Brands Group was recalling around 20,000 Ivanka Trump brand women's scarves due to
the scarves not meeting federal flammability standards, causing a burn risk.
The scarves in question were the blue and coral Beach Wave scarf, and the blue, green,
and red Brushstroke Oblong scarf so you may want to check your closet, to make sure you
don't throw kindling around your neck when it gets cold.
Footwear fiasco
The future first daughter found her company ankle-deep in hot water in June 2016 when
she was sued for allegedly copying the design of some luxury sandals.
As reported by Vanity Fair, the mega-popular Italian footwear designer Aquazzura filed
an official complaint in June 2016 accusing Ivanka and her clothing line's manufacturer,
Marc Fisher of "knocking off" the design of one of Aquazzura's best-selling, most popular
sandals.
The most noticeable difference in the sandals was the price tag Aquazzura's sandals were
listed for $785; Trump's retailed for $145.
According to the official complaint,
"Defendants have copied nearly every detail of Plaintiff's well-known and coveted Wild
Thing Shoe, from the shape and silhouette to the fringe covering the toes, to the tassel
on the heel."
Fisher's camp rebuked the claim, calling it "baseless," and Aquazzura dropped the lawsuit
in 2017.
Still, the legal drama wasn't a good look for the brand.
Business boycott
After the October 2016 release of an Access Hollywood tape featuring then-candidate Donald
Trump making some infamously unsavory remarks about women, activists Shannon Coulter and
Sue Atencio launched the "Grab Your Wallet" campaign on social media.
Aimed directly at Trump-owned businesses, the campaign targeted Ivanka Trump's clothing
line, as well as the stores that sold it, urging consumers to no longer buy from stores
who sell Trump-related products.
Among the stores to get boycotted was Nordstrom, which confirmed in February 2017 that it was
no longer carrying the Ivanka Trump line.
The brand added insult to injury by claiming the decision wasn't due to the boycott campaign,
but rather due to the brand's less-than-stellar performance in the market.
Talk about a lose-lose news cycle.
Maternity hypocrisy
Despite Ivanka's public support of paid family leave policies, she doesn't seem to practice
what she preaches.
On October 10th, 2016, the Ivanka Trump brand's former creative director Marissa Velez Kraxberger
took to Facebook to air some grievances regarding Donald Trump's newly-unveiled maternity leave
policy, which was reportedly crafted, in part, by Ivanka.
She wrote,
"When I first interviewed with Ivanka I was 2 months pregnant [...] When I asked about
maternity leave she said she would have to think about it.
[She said] that at Trump, they don't offer maternity leave and that she went back to
work just a week after having her first child."
Though Kraxberger went on to explain she was finally granted eight weeks of maternity leave
after a hard fight, her story caused many to see the first daughter in a new, hypocritical
light.
Exploiting labor
No matter how wholesome Ivanka Trump tried to make her brand look, the whole thing reeked
of worker exploitation.
Labor abuses in the brand's Chinese factories reportedly ran rampant, with people attempting
to investigate the working conditions ending up arrested for their efforts.
And according to a report by The Guardian, the working conditions in the brand's Indonesian
factories were so bad that, in the United States, they'd be illegal.
The Indonesian factory workers complained of incredibly low wages, being paid the lowest
wage allowable in Indonesia.
The compensation was so low and hours so hard, that working parents claimed they were almost
never able to see their children.
When Ivanka came out with her book Women Who Work, she probably wasn't thinking about the
people grinding away in sweatshops on behalf of her vanity brand.
Playing to lose
In her official statement about the decision to shutter her namesake fashion line, Ivanka
described the brand's closure as being part of her continuing efforts to pivot to politics.
Though existing products from the Ivanka Trump brand will continue to be sold, a spokesperson
for the company stated that no new products would be manufactured, putting the brand in
a open-ended clearance sale state..

WHY DJ KHALED'S CONTENT IS SO ADDICTING - Duration: 7:22.
[clips of DJ Khaled on Snapchat]
On this episode, we're talking branding
and why is DJ Khaled so addicting on Snapchat?
Welcome to episode two of the Dopamine Effect.
[intro music]
So almost three years ago now, my friend asked me if I was watching DJ Khaled on Snapchat
- I wasn't, I said no.
And he told me the type of content that he posts, I thought it sounded pretty stupid,
I thought it sounded pretty stupid but I went on watched it and then I watched it again
and again and it seemed like I was hooked.
Why was I hooked to this guy telling "we the best," and "they don't want me to win," and
"bless up."
What makes his content so addicting?
That's what this episode is about - what makes addicting content and how you can make addicting
content and help your branding.
In episode one, I called about this concept called social currency.
Drake uses it to make people feel cool when they make Drake memes of GIFs.
DJ Khaled uses it also but in another way - he makes people seem like, feel like, insiders.
You know, you feel cool when you know about DJ Khaled because it was kind of a secret
at first the type of content he was posting.
So for example, my friend could say "bless up."
I wouldn't know what he was talking about if I wasn't watching DJ Khaled but maybe someone
else would and they have that connection then.
So it's this type of insider feeling, this type of you're part of the cool kids almost,
that brings someone social currency.
And that's the type that DJ Khaled provides his fans with.
[Clips of DJ Khaled's snapchat]
Number two, DJ Khaled's Snapchat consists of reappearing themes and characters.
You have Chef Dee, Lion, Hammock talk, watering the plants - he created a story and like any
good story, their's a common enemy - "they."
[DJ Khaled snapchat]
These reoccurring words, phrases, and themes give everyone a point of connection - a way
to communicate with each other and so celebrities started using this language and brands started
using this language.
Brands would tweet out bless up, or major key.
Same with celebrities.
It became a point of connection for everyone.
This language, and these themes and characters, it's all wrapped in being part of a group
of insiders.
Everyone felt cool talking like that - or maybe still does, I don't know.
But he made it accessible for everyone.
Everyone had this common point of connection and that's what made his content even more
addicting.
You wanted to know what he's up to so you're in the know and could talk to people about
it.
Finally, scarcity.
Scarcity has been a big reason why Snapchat was such a big success and by way of this
DJ Khaled's success.
Think about it - when a company has two products, identical products, but one is labeled limited
edition or label, it seems like it has more value to it.
Scarcity creates perceived value.
That's what Snapchat did, that's what DJ Khaled did.
DJ Khaled basically created a bite-size 24/7 TV show but then content disappears every
24 hours so you want to be kept up to date, you want to continue watching so you're in
the know.
Ok, so just like we talked about how powerful user-generated content is in the Drake episode,
in episode one.
Let's talk about how powerful branding is for DJ Khaled and for any company or artist.
I apologize, I'm going to read off my computer, I think these stats are pretty mind-blowing.
So, although posting on Snapchat doesn't seem like it has a clear ROI, listen to this.
Pre-Snapchat, the highest DJ Khaled reached on the Billboard Charts with one of his albums
was number twelve with his album I Changed A Lot in 2015.
Post-Snapchat, he landed two number one albums with Major Key in 2016 and Grateful in 2017.
He wrote an autobiography called The Keys and sells out of his We The Best merchandise
line, quite frequently.
All of these things leverage his brand.
Grateful has his son on it who he features a lot in his Snapchat.
Major Key album had, I believe, the lion on it.
Same with his auto-biography.
They all leverage the branding that he created in Snapchat.
So although there's not a clear ROI in Snapchat when you're posting a video to it, if you
continue to develop your brand, and continue to have these elements that you bring it and
create a storyline - it becomes a part of your image and then there's an ROI, long term.
Ok, ready?
It's time for Actionable Takeaways.
One - create consistent branding in all your marketing materials.
Whether it's themes, colors, characters, slang terms - whatever it is, whatever you want
to use.
Just be consistent and have a very clear brand image.
Two - wrap your content in a larger narrative.
Really think about what's your story - what's the story you're trying to tell your audience.
Think about it very long term and wrap your content in that larger narrative and use the
branding materials we talked about it in tip one to do so.
Three - I'm a big fan of this one, find avenues of attention with less noise.
So yes, everyone should be on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, but maybe there's an app
out there that's trending, that's starting to gain traction, but hasn't fully hit peak
potential yet.
Check the App Store once a week and just keep an eye on it - the next Snapchat and Musical.ly
are out there somewhere and if you're able to get on those platforms before they blow
up - that's huge for you.
DJ Khaled did something similar with Snapchat - it was still pretty big but I think him,
along with other celebrities, helped make it bigger.
Fourth - and finally - make some of your content scarce.
Wait, am I pronouncing that right?
Scarce or scarce?
How do you pronounce it?
Either way, make some of your content, or features, limited edition, or rare, or maybe
make it some content only accessible for 24 hours or more or less, or maybe make some
content that people couldn't get otherwise only accessible if they give you an email
address, or like your page on Facebook, or follow you on Spotify.
Play around with it - see what your fanbase gravitates toward.
But, make things more valuable by making them not there all the time.
Ok guys, that wraps up episode three, thank you very much for watching I hope you enjoyed.
And I hope you came away with every tangible tips that you can implement today into your
marketing today.
Maybe get that unreleased song and make it available for 24 hours in exchange for an
email address or a follow on Spotify.
Think about your branding.
Think about your storyline - your characters, your colors, yours themes, the way you talk.
And when I say characters, it could be anything.
It really - it doesn't have to be a person, it could be a - I was looking around - it
can be a water bottle.
You have water bottles in lots of your post and you perform with water bottles and then
it becomes a thing and you can sell merch - like water bottle merch.
And it becomes a thing.
Whatever it is - find it, experiment, have fun, and I hope to see you in Episode Three.
Peace! [outro music]

Teaching – A Divine Flower is growing in the souls of people (ENG subtitles) - Duration: 7:56.
TEACHING – A DIVINE FLOWER IS GROWING IN THE SOULS OF PEOPLE
Today, we have a significant Skype call.
We will be summing up the results Today, we have a significant Skype call.
We will be summing up the results
of all my activities as a Messenger of the Great White Brotherhood,
and the whole mission that was implemented by the Brotherhood for 14 years in Russia.
I would like to compare the Teaching given by the Lords of Wisdom and the whole mission that was implemented by the Brotherhood for 14 years in Russia.
Therefore, today we are having a very important Skype meeting. I would like to compare the Teaching given by the Lords of Wisdom
I would like to compare the Teaching given by the Lords of Wisdom
with a Divine flower
that grows in people's souls.
The Masters sowed the seeds
of this Divine Teaching in the souls
of a sufficiently large number of people, called light-bearers.
And like any plant,
the seeds of this Divine flower are threatened
by various dangers.
For a plant it could be drought,
different weeds or insect-pests.
Similarly, there are difficulties
for this Teaching just like for the Divine flower.
The main difficulties or dangers
for the Teaching are:
forgetfulness of the Teaching,
distortion of the Teaching
and slander.
Slander of the Doctrine itself
and of the Messenger or the Teacher as the carrier of the Teaching.
Oblivion can be compared to a drought,
because in order not to be oblivious we must constantly water
this Teaching with the help of
the Divine Energy of those people
who follow this Teaching,
as well as the Divine energy of the Lords of Wisdom.
So, we were talking about an analogy between
a plant and the Divine flower of the Teaching,
growing inside souls of the people.
We were saying, that
alike the plant, We were saying, that
alike the plant,
which has such dangers as
draught, weeds and insects-pests,
the Teaching also has its dangers.
One of the dangers is oblivion
when the Teaching is forgotten.
Another danger is the distortion of the Teaching.
And the third danger is a slander
Distortion of the Doctrine can be compared with weeds,
and slander can be compared
with pests-insects and various rodents.
The Lords planted the seeds of the Teaching
in the souls of a fairly large number of people - light bearers,
and they produced their first shoots.
But now the Doctrine is threatened
by these three major dangers:
forgetfulness of the Teaching,
its distortion or slander.
Of course, if we consider oblivion, the great role here played by the Lords. its distortion or slander.
Of course, if we consider oblivion, the great role here played by the Lords.
When they take away the Divine energy from the Teaching,
only with help of memories
of the people who read it
can the Teaching be supported,
and its effect prolonged in the minds and hearts of people.
Concerning the distortion of the Teaching:
this has always happened
throughout the 1,000's of years of the history of mankind.
We already know what happened to Christianity.
First, Reincarnation was withdrawn from it,
then The Law of Karma. Now, the Moral Law is trying to be withdrawn.
This is a permanent process.
And the only thing that can prevent
the Teaching from distortion is the presence of an embodied Teacher
who is the current bearer of this Teaching.
Slander and lies are the next attack that threaten the Teaching
and the source of it - the Teacher itself.
Because if the source
(in this case we are talking about me as a Messenger) is slandered,
then all the Teaching collapses and it loses its power.
To protect the Messenger from slander
is the task of the Community.
The Teaching
given by the Lords of Wisdom for 1,000,000's of years
is based on three main pillars:
Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
Buddha is the carrier of the Teaching,
Dharma is the Divine Law or the Teaching itself,
and Sangha is the Community.
If any one of these three elements is missing
then the Teaching cannot be
adopted by the people.
It cannot be saved.
It cannot be transferred.
It cannot be spread.
We received a very big blow
in 2007
when Lord Maitreya asked
the community at a meeting in Moscow to take care of the Messenger.
After 12 or so years, nothing happened.
This is almost a complete cosmic cycle.
And everything that happened since then was just a consequence of this choice.
Because without protecting
the Teacher, without creating safe conditions for her,
without honoring the Teacher, respecting the Teacher and obeying the Teacher,
no Teaching can take root in any country of the world.
And now we are faced with the consequences
of a choice that took place 12 years ago.
Here I have to say
(and the Lords said it themselves)
that the mission in Russia is completed.
And now the Lords are asking to stop all activities in Russia.

What is a Minotaur? Greek Mythology Story - Duration: 5:57.
In this video you shall discover What is a Minotaur, Minotaur Facts and his story in
Greek mythology.
The term Minotaur derives from the name "Minos" and the noun "bull", translated as "(the)
Bull of Minos".
In Crete, the Minotaur was known by the name Asterion, a name shared with the foster father
of king Minos.
The yet to be king Minos, prayed to Poseidon, the sea god, to send him a snow-white bull,
as a sign of support.
This animal would be the famous Cretan Bull.
Prince Minos was to kill the bull to show honor to the deity, but decided to keep it
instead because of its beauty.
He thought Poseidon would not care if he kept the white bull and sacrificed one of his own.
The god took offence....
To punish Minos, Poseidon made Pasiphaë, the wife of Minos, fall deeply in love with
the bull.
Pasiphaë had craftsman Daedalus make a hollow wooden cow, and climbed inside it in order
to mate with the white bull.
The offspring was the monstrous Minotaur.
Disturbing yet ingenious...
Pasiphaë nursed him, but he grew and became ferocious, being the unnatural offspring of
a woman and a beast; he had no natural source of nourishment and thus devoured humans for
sustenance.
Minos, after getting advice from the oracle at Delphi, had Daedalus construct a gigantic
labyrinth to hold the Minotaur.
Daedalus may have truly studied the child of his own accord and predicted that he would
grow up to be so powerful that he could rip through any cage.
However, he did not seem to be very intelligent.
Therefore, Daedalus decided to build a massive puzzle to trap the beast.
When it was finished, the Minotaur was placed in the center of the puzzle, where he had
no chance of finding his way out.Its location was near the royal palace in Knossos.
The ancient Greeks depicted the Minotaur as a creature with a man's body and a bull's
head.
His body was fully human, although his legs and arms were bulging with almost superhuman
muscles.
Beginning at his shoulders, he transformed into a bull with blue-black fur and sharp
horns that could easily gore any human challenger.
Sometimes, he was drawn with a bull's tail as well.
Over time, the Minotaur's image has become less human and more bullish.
Today, only his muscled stomach and arms remain human, although he does manage to walk upright
on his bull's legs.
The Minotaur has gone down in history as a bloodthirsty, mindless monster.
He killed innocent, unarmed victims and feasted on their bodies.
However, this description is given by the Athenians, who had a reason to hate the Minotaur,
they were forced to supply victims for him to eat.
Perhaps a metaphor for the tributary status of Athens towards the Minoans, perhaps not.
It's possible that the Minotaur was not so monstrous; he might even have been viewed
as a hero by the people in his native kingdom, Minoa.
Unfortunately, their records of the Minotaur were lost to time.

Is Coffee Good for You? How Much Should We Drink? - Duration: 6:07.
Is Coffee Good for You? How Much Should We Drink?
For many of us, coffee is that comforting elixir we drink every morning, whose intoxicating smell surrounds us and invigorates us.
Who doesn't love a good cup of coffee with breakfast or after a big meal? We all do, but I'm sure you have lots of questions about whether it's actually good for you, and how much of it you should drink per day.
So today, we're going to answer the big question: "Is coffee good for you?" Keep reading to find out!.
10 reasons why coffee is good for you.
1,Coffee has a lot of antioxidants.
Coffee is a treasure trove of antioxidants, and is also rich in potassium, magnesium, manganese, chromium, probiotics, vitamins, and tocopherols.
In fact, one of the surprising results of a study conducted in the US a few years ago was that we get more antioxidants from coffee than we do from fruits and vegetables.
Moreover, in general, we consume more coffee than fruits.
2,Coffee can help reduce stress.
Maybe this bit of information got your attention.
But according to a study by Seoul National University, coffee alters protein structures in the brain to reduce levels of stress.
Beware, however: this only works when drinking one or two cups per day.
Drinking more than that creates the opposite effect.
3,Coffee reduces the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
You've probably already heard about a study that was published in 2012 in Science Daily, whose findings were quite encouraging; they concluded that people who regularly drink caffeine are less likely to develop Parkinson's disease.
Moreover, it helps control the tremors in those who already suffer from it.
4,Coffee is good for the liver.
Coffee supports and protects good liver function, for example, by helping avoid fatty liver disease and even cirrhosis.
This is all because a mixture of different chemicals and substances acts as a protectant: carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, alkaloids and other bioactive components like caffeine, diterpenes, and chlorogenic acid work together to care for the liver.
5,Coffee raises our spirits.
No, this isn't a joke.
This dark, delicious beverage acts as a natural antidepressant by increasing the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine.
There's no better way to start the day.
How many cups should you drink a day?.
The most important thing to understand is that coffee affects people in different ways.
It keeps some people awake at night, while others' sleep patterns might not be altered at all.
At the same time, it can also cause acid production for some.
That's why it should be clear that we need to find out for ourselves how it makes us feel.
As a general rule, however, you shouldn't drink more than three cups per day.
According to various experts, medical specialists, and nutritionists, the maximum daily dose of caffeine per day shouldn't exceed 500 milligrams.
That means it's important to know what size mug we use and avoid excessively large ones, so you know how best to follow these guidelines:.
Decaffeinated instant coffee: 1 mg caffeine.
Instant coffee: 40 mg.
Drip coffee: 30-40 mg.
Espresso: 200-250 mg of caffeine.
Don't hesitate to enjoy your daily cup of coffee.
And also remember that in order to lose weight naturally, you can also make it a point to try the delicious extract from the green coffee bean.
