Born Cheryl Gates McFadden on March 2, 1949,
she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University before moving
to Paris where she acquired her theatre skills from actor Jacques Lecoq at his school of
physical theatre.
In her early days, she worked behind the scenes at The Jim Henson Company as a director of
choreography and puppet movements and acted in various movies. And as a way of distinguishing
her acting works from choreography, she is mostly credited as "Gates McFadden" as an
actress and "Cheryl McFadden" as a choreographer.
Career in Movies, TV Shows and Plays
Prior to becoming a household name through
Star Trek franchise, she had appeared in a number of critically acclaimed movies such
as "Taking Care of Business" in 1990, "When Nature Calls" in 1985 and
"The Hunt for Red October" also in 1990.
She has also demonstrated her acting talents in several TV series, most notably,
"The Wizard in 1986," "Mad About You" in 1995 and 96 and "Franklin & Bash" from 2011 to 2013.
McFadden is also known as a badass choreographer and has worked for plays such as "Medea,"
"Bumps and Knots" and "Yesterday Is Over."

decent net worth of approximately $3 million mainly through her works in the Star Trek
franchise. She currently lives in her luxurious home in Los Angeles, California.

Gates has been married to John Talbot for
several decades now, and they have a son named James Cleveland McFadden-Talbot. And here's

by carefully testifying that he only spoke with Obama alone twice during his tenure as

Comey told the Senate he only spoke with Obama alone in 2015 about a law enforcement matter
and their last conversation occurred in 2016 before Obama left office and it was only about
saying goodbye.
We now know that was misleading because it allowed him to conceal the existence of the
January 5th meeting.
Now the FBI is trying to hide any documents about the meeting.

sutra 20,
śraddhā-vīrya-smŗti-samādhi-prajñā-pūrvaka itareșām
we find the word Samādhi prajñā there.
Is sthita prajñā the same as samādhi prajñā?
In the Yogasūtrā,
Samādhi leads to prajñā.
The same thing is mentioned here,
if you look into the previous verse itself,
through Samādhi, there is a niścala buddhi.
That is prajñā means unchanging knowledge.
Correct. jñā is
to know something, prajñā means very well.
To know something so well,
an experiential unchanging knowledge.
The knowledge
that does not waver,
the knowledge that does not change.
We have spoken about it in great detail in the
videos on the Yogasūtrā about prajñā.
Samādhi leads to that prajñā
and when that prajñā becomes
extremely deep rooted and
stays very firm, that is sthita prajñā.
Becomes a sthita prajñā.
So, Arjuna is asking how can such a person
who has reached that state, move about and then
do various worldly activities.
The word
jñānam also is used in the ancient Upaniṣads
to refer to prajñā.
The word jñānam is usually translated as 'knowledge'.
The Yogasūtrā is very careful in using the words.
For example, Patanjali uses the word mostly
khyati -
Viveka khyati,
which is not a sense of discrimination
a knowledge of the sense of discrimination. No.
A experiential knowledge that arises out of
samādhi is what is
spoken there as prajñā.
That's why it doesn't change.

It is a knowledge
that the prakṛtī, or the outside world,
is ever changing,

'the yogi realises that there is always duhkha..
in the past, present, and future
because of the changing nature of the prakṛtī.'

in experiential knowledge prajñā
that comes about. So, therefore,
Bhagavad Gita also says
a yogi who has reached that state,
'vitaragabhaya… '
he says, the one who has thrown away completely,
ragā - desire,
bhayā - fear, krodhā
the hatred or dislike.
This is what is spoken by Patanjali as
'ragā dvesa abhiniveśa..'
these 3 klesas, a yogi who has completely uprooted this,
he is in the sthita prajñā.
