A pair of bloggers from india fell off an 800 foot cliff at Yosemite national park,
and reports are saying they may have been taking a selfie.
I'm going to tell you everything you need to know, right now on IO.
Welcome back to inform overload I'm charlotte dobre.
If this is your first time here, subscribe for daily news updates on everything that's
happening in your world.
We live in a time where everyone is always trying to chase the perfect photo.
Photographers on instagram are constantly putting themselves and their subjects in dangerous
scenarios, all for the sake of getting that epic photo.
Taking dangerous selfies does have some benefit, the more dangerous it is to take a picture,
the more response you will get.
Unfortunately, taking epic photos does have its dangers, and an indian couple found that
out the hard way.
Vishnu Viswanath and Meenashi Moorthy were married travel bloggers that loved adventure.
Born in india, they moved to new york and then California, where Vishnu worked as a
software engineer for Cisco Systems in san jose.
They were high school sweethearts who married in 2014 who caught the travel bug, and they
ran a travel blog called Holidays and Happily ever afters.
They would regularily share their journeys with their 20 thousand instagram followers.
They went everywhere from the Maldives, to Florence.
They had recently been to the white sands national monument in new mexico, the Brooklyn
botanic garden in new york, and lived the dream travelling around the united states
in a red mustang convertible.
They were also known to always spread messages of positivity.
So when word spread that the couple plunged to their deaths at Yosemite National Park,
people were devastated.
Their blogging adventures took them to Yosemite National Park, known for its cliffs and waterfalls.
Last week, it was reported that two people had died at Taft Point, a popular outlook
spot for tourists and their photos.
The point overlooks Yosemite valley and towers 3500 feet above.
Park officials identified the couple on Monday as the two people who had fallen.
They fell 800 feet to their deaths onto an area with very steep terrain, which made recovering
their bodies that much more difficult for park employees.
Park rangers had to use technical climbing and rapelling techniques as well as a helicopter
to get to them.
As of right now, its unclear how they could have fallen, but two people who knew the couple
suggested that they were trying to take a photo.
Their tripod was set up near one of the ledges, according to Vishnu's brother Jishnu.
But the incident is still being investigated.
He was not present during the incident so its not certain how he could have known that.
Raj Katta, another friend of the couple, told the Washington post during a phone interview
that the couple could have been taking a photo.
Its possible one of them fell off the cliff, and the other tried to save them, but also
fell.
The couple ended up in the background of photos from other tourists that were in the same
spot.
A tourist named Sean matteson is believed to have taken the last photos of the couple
alive.
Moorthy was in the backround of one of his selfies, she had bright pink hair and was
easy to spot.
According to Matteson, she looked like she was having a good time and wasn't in distress.
Several photos show Moorthy posing at the edge of the cliffs, but there are no guardrails
that would have protected them.
I find it extremely surprising with all the selfie deaths that have happened in recent
years that there was nothing preventing this couple from falling.
Apparently there is a safety railing installed at the point, but there are areas without
protection.
Still though, the couple regularly took photos in dangerous places.
There are photos of them posing at the edges of canyons, mountains and tall buildings.
The ironic thing is, Moorthy also told her followers on instagram in the captions of
at least two of her photos to be careful when taking these kinds of pictures.
Wind gusts can be extremely dangerous, and they would wait until the wind subsided before
taking photos.
One caption said, did you know that wind gusts can be fatal?
Is our life worth one photo?
People have flooded their instagram page Holidays and happilyeverafter with positive messages
and words of support.
Over the last 6 years, there have been 250 reported deaths related to people taking selfies,
according to a study published in the journal of family medicine and primary care.
One of the top causes of selfie related deaths is falling from heights.
We normally respond to comments at the end of our videos, but out of respect for the
couple, we didn't think it would be appropriate.
On behalf of IO, our hearts go out to the victims families.
Let this story be a lesson to everyone.
One photo is not worth losing your life over.
That is all for now, and thank you for watching IO.

💸 How to budget for your web design project pt. 3 💸 - Web Design is Broken e07 - Duration: 8:13.
WEB DESIGN IS BROKEN Cue the music Today is the culmination of this journey
into budget. I hope you have enjoyed it thank you so much for joining me on this
journey. I'm really excited to actually open up this final piece of the puzzle
which is how you can figure out a reasonable budget for your website that
is sane, and that doesn't give you things like buyer's remorse afterwards and that
you can actually go back to in several months time and be like 'well actually I
can see exactly why I spend what I did on that project' Up until this point you
would have been aware of your biases as a human including loss aversion, wherever
you're coming from a pain or a gain perspective. You also were mapped out
where your project sets on a graph of risk versus complexity; high risk low
risk high complexity low complexity. And you'll have start to have a feel for
what size of investment you should make. Now this last bit what we're tackling is
actually what is it worth to you in Pounds Sterling:
let's do this. Let's talk about ROI: return on investment. This is gonna be
one of the key bases upon which you place your web design budget. You're not
doing this for your health - well at least most people aren't doing this for their
health. If you're a commercial organization even if you're a charity
there is some metric by which we will judge the success of any project that
you undertake. Websites are no different. I'm gonna use money because that's the
world that I live in, most of my clients commercial organizations at some point
it boils down to how much money we gonna make out of it. Let's use that. The key
things to remember when we're exploring what something is worth to you what this
website project is worth to you is to think about the tangible and the
intangibles. So the tangibles are
all things that this website might be worth to you might be the new
capabilities it gives you it might give you the ability to serve your customers
better. It might give you the ability to ship products to new markets
internationally or something like that. It might give you the ability to reduce
your administration. These are all very tangible things things that you can look
at maybe on a balance sheet go 'well hey look we've got this capability now
that's provided to us by the website and it's worth exactly X we can measure that'
But there's also the intangible aspects of it as well brand recognition, thought
leadership, social influence things like this though. They also have a value to
your business and can affect the way that you do business to a greater or
lesser extent so those things have to be considered jointly. Let's jump into a
more concrete in example. Let's take consultancy for example let's say you're
a brand new consultant. You've got to a fantastic place in your
corporate career but you want to take that next step you want to reach further
shores. Let's say you think that in your first year as a consultant you'll work
your existing networks, you'll do some extra networking you think you could
land say five clients in your first year and let's say that those clients pay you
about ten thousand pounds each year fifty thousand pounds at, I don't know, twenty
percent profit. So you've got ten grand profit. Fantastic. Great business. Nice. Now
you also see the value that other consultants before you have got out of
having a good website you've seen how it made them look a lot more credible.
You've seen how they've used it as a platform for their thought leadership
you've seen how they've been able to share their content more easily around
social networks and you've seen how they've been able to charge a premium. So
you think maybe if you had a decent website that made you look good and
professional help people understand who you are why you do what you do and why
you're better than the competition and also gave you a platform for sharing
your thoughts and ideas about your industry you, think that that could not
only help you sell out say a 10% premium but you could probably land one or two
extra clients as a result of the increased reach and influence that the
website will help you to achieve that year one starts to look a lot different
So our first five clients instead of them spending ten thousand each they're
spending eleven thousand. So that's five thousand extra pounds and that's just
pure profit because you've sold out a premium
You've not delivered anything different you've just sold at higher price plus
the extra one to two clients that you think you'll make on the back of it. That
year starts to look like 66 to 77,000 in revenue and 18 to 21,000 in profit. Those
are significant numbers. What we've got to do now is take our do-nothing
scenario and compare it against our website scenario in a do-nothing
scenario we thought we'd make 10,000 pounds of profit in our website scenario
we think will make 18 to 21 thousand pounds of profit. If you take those two
numbers away from each other then you're left with the core of what a
website is worth to you. This is the upside that you hope to gain by
investing in a website. So now we've got this figure this extra 8 to 11 thousand
pounds what do we do with that now this is where it's over to you, because the
reality is is that unlike regular equities unlike normal
investments websites typically don't hold a huge amount of value to anyone else
outside of that business. Yes it is possible to sell an e-commerce and sell
that but for the types of businesses that I know I deal with on a daily basis
most most of their web sites are only valueable
and only really work in the context of that business. If you were selling the
business then yeah the website would definitely be an asset. But what we're
looking for with websites is generally a good rate of return. You can actually
spend more money than you will ever get back out of it you can end up in
negative equity. So if we're taking this eight to eleven thousand pounds there's
no point in spending 12 because you'll spend 12 you'll get 11 back in the first
year and you'll have to wait two years to see an actual return. So you might
want to start by thinking 'what am I willing what am I prepared to risk
money-wise in order to see that kind of return' go back to the Risk vs.
Complexity quadrant that we were talking about in the last video: is this high
risk high complexity? Yeah well then you want to be investing 50
percent maybe even more than that. Is this a low risk low complexity thing?
Well then invest as little as you can to get a reasonable job done. Only you are
gonna know what the answer is. I hope you've understood that it's not a cut and dry,
one-size-fits-all answer and at the end of the day it's your business. It's your
responsibility so you've ultimately got to make the calls on it. I'm just hoping
that what I've done in these videos has been enough to help you make that
informed decision and help you feel that you're making the right choice when
you're buying a website. My name is Aaron Taylor: I'm helping you have better
conversations and make better decisions when you are buying a website. Till next
time

Voices for change through the Yerington Paiute tribe in Nevada - Duration: 1:02.
It's very important for our Native people to vote because then we have a say in the political system
Our people are spread out far and wide through the state of Nevada
and a lot of times they gotta travel a long ways in order for them to vote.
People don't have a voting conscience because a lot of times people are
more worried about whether they can keep their electricity on, their water on.
We need more people to come to the polls so that
we can have a stronger voice in the political system.

FT857D for sale in UK - Duration: 8:39.
Hi so here I am again selling another radio. for those of you that know me
or for those of you that look at my QRZ.com page you'll see that I do have a
tendency to swap and change radios quite frequently but also hopefully, if you've
bought a radio off before before you'll also know that I only sell good quality
equipment and this is another good example. So this is my third 857. At 1 stage, I
had three of them all at the same time and I've currently got two, this is one
that I used to have in my wife's car but because I wasn't driving it very often
it didn't really warrant having an expensive radio in there so I took it
out and you'll be able to see from the photos and also do you some close-ups on
the video in a minute but you'll be able to see that it's in absolutely mint
condition just to show it working I'm using this SLA battery you'll see that
it's already fitted with PowerPole connectors so nice and useful you'll
also see that it is double fused so it's fused both on the positive and also on
the negative. It also comes with the DTMF microphone this is this is an extra
which I bought I think it was around about 50 pounds
this is called an MH 59 Yaesu MH 59 and this allows you to control the radio
basically from the microphone so you can change frequencies you can dial
in the particular frequency you can change the band I think you can also
change the mode yes you can so you can basically do virtually everything that
you would normally do on the radio but from the microphone so I'm including
this as well by the way you'll hear the parrot. This is the parrot he has to
occupy at least a percentage of a video that I do so here we go
hopefully you can see there's no marks there's no scratches there's no
dings it works perfectly it's been into a local amateurs workshop to test it out
in terms of power and in terms of frequency and it's absolutely spot-on
this is the back so this is an 857D and
as you're probably know if you know anything about this radio it's an all
band all mode radio it comes with with the instructions as well which I'm sure
as a as an amateur you'll never ever flick through. The mode button number
five and then up and we can change the band number eight okay again that's the
power going crazy. ......goes over to memory mode and then we've got an up and down
on the top so you can see it changing as I press that so anyway that's enough
about the microphone. so yeah as I say it's all mode and all band so let's
just change the should show you the modes
and the bands
okay the VFO I'll just move the camera a
little bit basically you'll see that you've got
buttons around the edge here okay so you can also you've got a lock button down
here so if I press this you'll see that the little key has come up so that means
that we've in the vfo won't change the frequency and lets unlock it pressing this
button here you see the little running man in the corner let's just zoom into
that for you okay the little running man that shows that it's now in fast mode so
turning the vfo will change the frequency a lot lot quicker than if
using standard mode okay what else to show you DSP you can you've got because
it's the 857D model and not the standard you've got various
things that you can do with the digital signal processing one of the the
additional things that that could be available if you're interested is this
which is let me just zoom out a little bit okay so this is also available as an
extra this is a BlueCAT
Bluetooth dongle now this is not just any
bluetooth dongle this will work with the Repeaterbook application on your mobile
phone okay so in menu 20 needs to be set to Cat and in menu 19 the Cat rate
needs to be 38,400 so you can see that the lights just zoom out a little bit
you can see that the light is flashing on and on and off so that shows it's
powered and then I've got an Android phone and it doesn't actually work on
the iPhone unfortunately which is a bit crazy but let's just alter that
polarization and it will fit so it looks a little turn there you go
so if I load up Repeaterbook so this is a free app actually so now let's
let's just look at this so these are my local repeaters and as I tap on on one
of these repeaters it will change the setup for the radio you see that
you know it's ideal if you're driving down the road because you don't need to
worry about the offsets and the tones and things like that
so literally as you're driving down the road and you go from the coverage of one
repeater for the next you just tap on your phone and in automatically sets it
up for that next repeater there you go there is no there's no aerial plugged
into it but obviously if anybody's gonna buy more than welcome to a test-drive of
it here or maybe even we meet halfway and I've got to show you it
working in the car. one last thing
so the radio is what's called a face off radio now the way I've just been showing
it is ideal if we can use it in the shack but if you use it in the car it
makes more sense to have the head unit mounted at the front of the car and to
have the main unit mounted at the back of the car which is exactly how I've got
mine fitted in the other car now I have got what's called the separation kit I
just need to take it out of the other car so that includes all the cables that
you need and also a bracket for this to mount on the dash and I'm going to be
including that in in the price I just can't show you because it's it's still
fitted in the wife's car okay sorry about the long video hopefully you've
got a good feel for what it is on the condition of it and thanks very much for
watching bye

How to Cook and Bake for the Holidays In Ready To Wear Hair! - Duration: 3:17.
Hi ladies, it's Lee at Woman in Disguise and today i want to talk to you about
cooking and your ready-to-wear hair. First of all we know that heat is a big
no-no on our synthetic wigs so we always talk
about hey, you don't want to put a curling iron in them - no flat irons no
blow dryers those things are all big nos so what about cooking and especially the
holiday season coming up and all the cooking activity we'll be doing what can
we and what shouldn't we do in our synthetic wig so here are some rules of
thumb that I go by and I think will help you make really great decisions about
how to cook in your wig so, first of all let's talk about the oven oven obviously
can get very warm and very hot so if you are going to be using your oven and you
want to wear your your hair what I recommend is every time you open that
oven you open it let that heat dissipate because we all know we've opened it and
gone in too quickly and almost wonder, like, oh my gosh do I
still have my eyelashes and so that heats not good for our skin or eyelashes
eyebrows or anything and it's not gonna be good for our synthetic wigs so when
you open that oven door let that rush of heat dissipate and then I always
recommend instead of keeping your item in the oven and checking the temperature
or whatever you're doing pull it out put it on the stovetop and again not have
your head in the oven and you should be just fine so let's talk about the
stovetop - stovetop in general is fine it's just not putting off enough heat
directly and you're not close enough to it where you really run the risk of
having any damage happen to your ,to your, ready-to-wear hair and so the one thing
that I will say is if you're doing something on the stovetop where you're
actually using an open flame and I don't know we may have banana fosters one time
and you know what the whole idea is to set on fire and have this open flame
come up that's when you definitely or you would just want to make sure you're
taking the right safety precautions anyways but you definitely I would
recommend that you not wear your wig if you're actually working with
an open flame just because again you don't want that heat to get too close
and damage the hair. Last thing I'll talk about is the grill because I love to
grill and the grill again can be a lot of intense heat and unlike the oven it
just doesn't seem to dissipate as much because it's really cranking all the
time to keep that heat coming out so I choose not to do any type of grilling in
my wig, so it'll be something where I will get that work done go in and clean
up afterwards and then put on my hair and be ready to enjoy the meal with my
family and friends so those are some tips that you can use so as this holiday
season comes up and you start to think about those cookies and the meals and
all that fun stuff you can kind of use those rules of thumb and know when you
can cook with your wig I hope that's helpful please share your comments your
experiences any great recipes and please subscribe to our Channel - YouTube channel
I would love to hear your comments and here's happiest regards to you.
