500 Indispensable Websites "FOR MEN" (from the early 00's) | Nostalgia Nerd - Duration: 11:10.I don't know about you, but when I browse the internet, I like to make sure my precious
time isn't wasted.
There's nothing more infuriating than jumping from site to site, aimlessly, without direction
or reason.
That's then why I have this 2002 publication from Lagoon Books, entitled, 500 Indispensable
Web Sites FOR MEN......
Ultimate Web Guide...
Ohhhh yeahhhhhh.
"A Must for all men, this internet address book will give you access to 500 essential
sites to add to your favourites.
Whether you use it for work or leisure, you'll soon wonder how you ever lived without it.
Stay one step ahead with this cool cyber guide".
I imagine, if a woman did ever try and access a website in this book - heaven forbid - her
fingers would simply snap under the manly keywords, or her eyeballs would simply explode
at the raw, unleashed images bursting from the screen, unable to be digested by her double
X chromosome.
Of course..
I'm being facetious.
A woman would clearly just die upon picking up the book.
But 2002 was a different time.
You could probably buy this book in an actual bookstore, rather than a corner of a garden
centre.
So given it's a different time, I thought we could look through some of these websites
and find out if they still exist, and exactly what state they find themselves in, some 15
years later.
Firstly, I love the fact that most of the people involved in creating this book are
actually women...
It's a TRAP... there's actually a website for the book.
Lagoongames.com... which still seems to exist.. or at least redirects to thelagoongroup.com.
Maybe they've even expanded since 2002.
Still selling gifty type things.
Wow!
Make your Own Speakers!
They seem to have discontinued this dinosaur of a book however.
And here's what lagoongames.com looked like back in 2002.
This is what I'm talking about.
Strange that this book isn't listed under the "Internet Books" section.
But then even reading the book's introduction, you realise this is a hurried affair, as this
intro seems to be entirely lifted from the 500 Essential Sites for Smart Surfers book,
telling us this book is for surfers of all ages and abilities... yeah, probably not.
Anyway, let's dive in with the LifeStyle section and....
"The Love Doctor" at drkiss.net.
Ahhh man, how the hell am I going to cope with rejection now?
Thankfully askmen.com is still up and running, offering, pfffft, things.
Again the 2002 site looks much more appealing.
We've got Man of the Week: Justin Timberlake....
Fitness Babes: Part II.... oh, jesus god, what the hell have I got myself into.
Still their site of the day...
Drobnjacks Manjaks is interesting.
The official site of Seattle Sonics' center Peja Drobnjak.
You can even make this site your HOME PAGE.
Why the hell would you want to do that?!
One more thing to do....
I'll tell you what, let's move onto the MONEY section.
(MONEY, MONEY, MONEY)
Remember a world when you had to type in lengthy URLs like this, rather than just searching,
because search engines could be so easily manipulated?
Good times.
College for Cash or Personal Finance101 is one site which seems to still work, or at
least redirects to the .org, with the last update in May 2010.
To be honest this looks like some kind of holding page, and isn't a patch on the former
glory of 2002 site edition!
Look at this thing.
We've got a completely different URL here.
A bookstore, Directory... flipping tremendous.
Some of this might actually be useful information.
But it's far from inviting.
Best fill out the guest book...
How did we get here... errrr, yeah, we'll go with "by some other method".
This book did say Indispensable, right?...
Seriously, most of these sites are more than dispensible, even if they were to work.
This site was so indispensible that from July 2002 is was re-directed to a different site
and by 2004 had been obliterated entirely.
Something tells me most of these web sites were derived using the typing topics into
Alta Vista and selecting the first option approach, which back in 2002 was far from
a safe method of finding "quality" content.
Here's a URL which no longer works, but even in 2002, was it really indispensable to take
this "Could You Be a Millionaire?"
test?
It looks like something that's fallen out of the ass of a high school web intern.
I would try and complete it, but it doesn't even load past the first page anymore.
Allow me then, if you will, to move onto the "Gadgets and Gizmos" section.
This is more like it...
The Advanced Intelligence Spy Shop, and even today, it still looks like a 2002 site.
In fact, it looks like it's from the mid 90s.
Maybe this is some kind of cover to shield the amazing spy devices stocked within.
Although, judging by the Motorola handset shown... probably not.
You can buy those voice changers as seen in the movie SCREAM, and even a eavesdropping
device that will apparently capture sounds from an infinite distance.
Useful for listening into the sounds of hell then in parallel dimensions.
CLUE Spray!
What the hell is that?
This detection powder is simply sprayed on any surface leaving an invisible film which,
when touched is immediately transferred to the hand, clothing, etc.
Will remain on hands up to five days in spite of repeated washings.
What is this stuff?
More like creepy tracking - potentially toxic - spray than clue spray.
You may be interested to know that in 2002, this site, DID actually look different...
I mean, it hasn't exactly evolved much in 15 years has it?
Same products.
Ohhh, look, even a spinning "New Products" logo.
Wow, look at this stuff.
The X-Relect camera, that can see through objects, even clothes!
Wait... what?
This doesn't even exist now, does it?
"The act of invading someone else's privacy should be avoided"....
Isn't that EXACTLY what the purpose of this is?
To invade the privacy of others?
To SPY on them?
Alright, before I get carried away with this crazy spy-tech, lets take a peek at...
Excuses.co.uk
Currently just a holding page, but back in 2002 excuses.co.uk offered "An excuse for
every occasion", because We all need excuses.
Under Law & Order we have a variety of circumstances... caught speeding, caught stealing...
READING pornography...
Reading?
I guess it's 2002.
Under which we have.
"I read it for the articles"
"All those fit bodies inspire me to keep working out"
and "I'm against this kind of stuff, but I feel I need to experience it before I can
criticize it"...aahhhhh
i-ching.com offers us an Oracle experience with promises of "clicking over the sacred
pool"...
Today, the site has mered with Tarot.com, and in fact we can see this happened way back
in late 2002.
But if we go back just a little further to 2001... well... we don't get a pool, but we
do get a book to click on... all I have to do is wait to discover my fortune.
Sounds about right.
Now, this wouldn't be a "MAN'S" book without a "Virtual babe" would it?
And today ananova.com simply provides us with a selection of hosting providers.
BUT BACK IN August 2002....
Wait...
Orange?
Cheney stresses need to oust Saddam...
What the hell is this?
We have to go all the way back to 2000, to find out what this is about... annnd apparently
she's a virtual newscaster.
Damn click bait...
BOOK, click bait.
Alright, onto the Entertainment section of the book.
And look!
Amazon.com!
Here's a site we know!
Back then, it looked like this... not that much different really.
Apart from this enticing gold box.
I could spend ages going through all these sites, but chipsworld.co.uk immediately stands
out.
It's still open, offering a variety of retro stuff... not priced too badly actually.
But back in 2002 you could grab yourself a brand new Dreamcast Ultimate Pack for £99.99,
complete with Jet Set Radio, MSR and Virtua Fighter 3.
Awesome.
And I think we'll wrap it up there.
This book is clearly packed with many more masculine websites, including SPORTS and OIL,
and BRICKS and all those manly things, so I think we might pay a sneaky revisit at some
point in the not so distant future.
But for now, thanks for watching, subscribe for more, click this video, or support me
through Patreon for exclusive rewards and mucho gratitudio.
In any case, have a great evening.
See ya!

Twitter Roasts Black Coffee For Not Choosing A Black Author For His Bio - Duration: 2:32.Twitter Roasts Black Coffee For Not Choosing A Black Author For His Bio
Looks like Black Coffee is ready to tell his story and wants world-class Brazilian lyricist and novelist Paulo Coelho de Souza to do the honours.
Consequently, the acclaimed record producer and DJ took the liberty of tweeting Paulo to ask if he would be willing to write the story of his life.
"My entire life has been like something from a Book… I'm ready to tell that story…. How many Rt's @paulocoelho Sir to write my Story (sic)," he wrote on Twitter on Monday night.
Paulo responded saying; "I am currently working on a book to be published by the end of 2018 but I will follow you and we can chat about it.
Sounds amazing right? Well, you can try telling that to black Twitter which was thrown into a fit following the news. DJ Black faced strong criticism after Twitter woke up to his request for the award-winning Brazilian author to write his biography.
Black Coffee quickly made it to the Twitter trends list as tweeps took aim at him for not asking a "black author" to write his book.
Nevertheless, Black Coffee's fans got his back and they wasted no time in taking shots at his haters. They maintained that since it's his story, it should be up to him to choose whoever he wanted to write it.
The award-winning DJ has a lot going on in his career this year and has just launched his own international radio show among other milestones.
The house music Maestro's show on Apple's Beats 1 radio show debuted on Friday, July 28 at 8PM SA time. Also, DJ Black Coffee was recently recognised for the great work he's doing in the industry in the 2017 DJ Awards.
Hopefully, he will soon join other celebrities like Bonang Matheba and Somizi to launch his own book.

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say rejoice."
"Let your moderation," one translation says let your sweet
reasonableness, "be known to all men.
The Lord is at hand."
Keep going.
"Be careful for nothing," now the word "care" here means
"anxiousness," "anxiety."
We would probably say, "Don't be anxious about anything."
Should we take the Word of God seriously?
Is it possible to go day in and day out and not be anxious or
worried or fearful about anything?
Do we just ignore this?
We act like it can't be done?
Or is it possible?
Here's some advice, friends.
Let the Word of God be your standard.
Nothing else.
Nothing else.
Every vision, every dream, every experience, every prophecy,
good, bad, in between, examine it against the written Word.
Is that right?
And let it be your standard.
And if you'll be honest, then you will be coming across
things in the Word that's above where you are living.
I said, frequently, commonly, frequently, you will come across
things in the Word that's up here and you are living here.
Then you have a choice.
Are we going to try to explain it away, are we going to say
that's passed away, that's not for us?
Are you going to try to water down the Word to fit your
experience?
Or, are you going to have the respect for the Word and have
the faith to say, "Lord, I'm not living there right now.
Elevate my life and experience to match this."
You'll have to make that choice every time you get there.
So humble yourself and be honest and go, "I haven't been living
there, but, if You say I can live there, I can live
there.
If You say it's for me, it's for me."
Right?
And then you set your face like flint towards it and you lay
hold of it in faith and refuse to back off and you stay on it
until you get there if it takes a week or ten years.
Everybody pray it out loud: "Lord (Congregation repeats)
help me not to water down the Word, explain away the Bible,
to match my experience.
But help me Lord to elevate my experience to match Your Word.
I ask it in Jesus' name."
Amen.
Thank You Lord.
Thank You Lord.
"Be careful for nothing,"
the Amplified says, "Do not fret or have any anxiety about
anything."
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything.
First Peter five, you don't have to turn there but we're going to
be going to John fourteen, but 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all
your care," how much of it?
All your care, "On Him," again that's that same word anxious,
worried, fearful, anxiety, casting all your anxiety on Him
because, "He cares for you," and doesn't want you troubled and
upset and fearful when He has already taken care of
everything.
Anybody with a child that cares about their child doesn't want
that son or daughter worried and upset and troubled.
They want them happy and without care and without fear.
But nobody ever loved their children more that our Father
loves us.
And He cares about us and doesn't want us anxious,
worried.
Many have thought the more you care, the more you worry.
The more you care about something, the more you take
care about it.
But that's a deception of the enemy and it's contrary to faith
and it actually gets in the way of the Lord doing something for
us.
We've already been over this in some detail, but when the enemy
comes and brings troubling thoughts and feelings to us to
cause us to - tempt us to worry and to fear and be upset all the
time, it's not just so he can say goody-goody, see there,
got you to do it.
The Bible tells us that the cares of life can choke out the
Word of God out of our heart.
Choke out the Word.
Now what kind of danger is that?
So we must, oh friend, we must stop this worrying, being
fearful and upset all the time.
It's a ploy of the enemy.
Check up on yourself.
If you don't watch him and if you yield to your flesh, you
will be upset about something most of the time.
Oh, you'll have brief times when you're happy and feel good, but
it won't be long, something will happen.
Somebody will do something or they didn't do something or it's
something the government did or didn't do.
Something somebody else did or didn't do.
And it will upset you and it will make you mad or it will
hurt you or it will bother you.
And of course you think you are thoroughly justified in feeling
that way, but not realizing this is robbing you of a day of peace
and joy you should be having.
And it's making you absolutely no fun to be around.
Sulking and mad and bitter and hurting, and just about time you
get past that and you think good, good, something else.
Come on, have you seen it?
Something else will come for you to get upset about.
And it's the ploy of the enemy to keep you and me upset about
something all the time.
And the reason being is to choke out the Word of God in our heart
and destroy our faith, and keep us in a place of perpetual
defeat and failure and hopelessness and anger and
bitter and resentment.
And friend, life is just too short to throw away days and
weeks being upset.
Being upset, being upset.
Somebody say: "Not me.
(Congregation repeats) Not me.
Not me.
I can live being anxious about nothing."
Anxious for nothing.
I can live that way.
The Lord told me I could.
Didn't just tell me I could, told me to do it.
Right?
"Casting all your care upon Him because He cares for you."
Well, if He told you to do it, can you do it?
Can I do it?
What do you do when you have some worries and cares and
something that bothers you?
Something that upsets you?
Don't let it sit on you.
Throw it off of you.
Put it on Him.
Say, "Here Lord, I can't fix this.
I can't take care of this.
Here.
Here.
I'm giving it to You and I'm trusting in You and I'm not
going to stay upset."
Just not going to do it.
John fourteen, go there please.
In John 14:1 it said, "Let not your heart be troubled," one of
the things that you will run smack dab into when you start
talking about this, is people will, many, many, including good
churchgoing people they'll hear this and whether they say it or
not they'll think to themselves, "Yeah, but if you have this
happen, you can't help it.
You can't help but be upset," or troubled or bothered or anxious
or fearful.
But that's contrary to this.
I said, that's contrary to this.
Jesus said what?
The understood subject is what?
Who?
You are not to let your heart be troubled.
Now there's a lot of revelation there.
If your heart is troubled, what do we know?
How did it get that way?
I let it.
And what else?
I didn't have to.
He told me not to let it.
So I can let it or not let it.
It's my choice.
Let's go over again this real slow.
If you or me, your spouse, your child, your coworker, anybody,
are upset, why are you upset?
Your heart is troubled, you're upset, bothered, scared,
anxious, worried, fearful, whatever, how did you get that
way?
How did you get that way?
Most people would disagree.
They would say, "No, I was doing fine until such and such
happened.
I was actually having a pretty good day.
I was making it pretty good until, boom, that thing dropped
on me and hey, I don't care who you are, if that happens to you,
you are not going to be happy anymore.
You're going to be sad.
You're going to be depressed.
You're going to be upset."
And if the devil can keep you believing that, you're stuck.
You will never enjoy this.
You'll just go from one crisis to another, from one episode of
being upset and scared to another, and it will wreak havoc
on you and your system.
It will cause you to age prematurely.
It will cause you physical problems, mental problems,
financial problems, marriage problems, family problems,
work problems.
No.
The truth is - we saw this in some detail, Paul said by the
Spirit of God in Corinthians, he said, "The care of the churches
come on me daily."
Well, you read these letters.
Was everybody acting right at the church at Corinth or Ephesus
or Galatia or Colossae or Romans?
We have two churches.
He had all these churches, and I can tell you with two churches,
Phyllis and I could stay upset about something.
Do you believe that?
Every day.
If we would take it the wrong way, we could stay bummed out,
upset, mad, hurt, and it would be a total waste of our
energies.
And if I let that happen to me and Phyllis lets that happen to
her and that continues on us, just say on me as a minister,
month after month, year after year, is that going to affect my
ministry?
Am I going to come in here... (Looking upset)
"You know, you try to help people. (Laughter)
And the Lord told us what to say and we said it plain as day and
they sat right there and acted like you didn't say one word.
And they did this, and just misrepresented the church,
and just went out and made a giant mess, and they did this."
Is that going to bless you for me to come in every time and go,
"What is wrong with you?
Are you listening?" (Laughter)
That's not going to bless you.
And that's how the church gets small. (Laughs)
So, you believe that I shouldn't and Phyllis shouldn't take it
to heart.
You believe that we should just cast our care on the Lord and
stay up and stay strong.
Well, what about you?
Right?
Is there a different set of rules?
These verses we read didn't say - they weren't prefaced by
"these are for preachers."
These are not preacher verses, minister verses, leader, pastor
verses, they are believer verses.
Child of God verses.
No, no, I don't claim that we've always done it perfectly but
that's part of maturing in faith is that more and more you learn,
a lot of this stuff is so trivial.
I know it seems like a big deal, but from God's perspective and
in the big scheme of things, it's very insignificant.
And if you let it get to you and you let it hurt you and make you
mad and upset you, you're being a baby.
You're being immature and faithless.
Do you remember what we talked about, about the two and three-
year-old dropping their ice cream cone?
Do you remember that?
Or their balloon, they're losing their balloon.
Have you ever heard wailing?
Huh?
You would've thought it was a national tragedy, is that right?
They'll wail like it's the end of the world.
Is it the end of the world that they dropped their ice cream?
So simple.
Go get another ice cream, right?
Well the things that fifty-year-olds get upset and
pout about for weeks, to the Lord are just as ridiculous as
wailing because you lost your balloon.
It's a matter of perspective and how much maturity you have
gained.
So, let's believe this good Word and not fight it and not try to
argue with it.
Look at it, verse one again.
What did he say?
John 14:1, what?
"Let not your heart be troubled," don't argue with the
Lord.
Don't tell Him you can't help it.
Don't tell Him you can't help it.
Say, "Sir, yes Sir.
Sir, yes Sir."
Do what?
Don't let your heart be troubled.
Sir, yes Sir.
"What are we going to do?"
We're not going to let our heart be troubled.
"How in the world are we going to do that?"
He's going to help us.
God will provide.
Verse twenty-seven, but you have to make up your mind to start
with that you're not going to argue with Him and try to tell
Him that you can't help it.
He said - here's one of the big things why we can do this.
What are we going to do instead of worry and be upset?
You don't just need a vacuum in the place of that, what fills
the place of worry?
Peace.
"Peace," Jesus said, "I leave with you, My peace," this is the
peace He walked in Himself when He was on the earth.
We talked last time about there's a storm on the sea and
Jesus is doing what in the back of the boat?
He's sleeping.
Did He have peace?
Is He walking in peace?
Somebody said, "That's amazing."
I said, somebody might say that's amazing. (Laughter)
I'm sure glad she read it, I'm so glad.
Somebody might say, "Man, I wish I had peace like that."
You do.
We do.
We been given not peace like that, that peace.
You can say this: the peace of Jesus is mine.
Come on, say it out loud: "I have (Congregation repeats)
the peace of the Christ."
Do you?
Do you?
That's how you can prevent your heart from being troubled.
Come on, read the rest of it.
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you: not as the
world gives, give I to you."
Then He said again, what?
"Let not your heart be troubled," and He added this,
"neither let it be afraid."
Would a lot of people try to tell you I can't help it?
Would a lot of people try - "I can't help it?
I'm afraid of what's going to happen in the country...
I'm afraid in my neighborhood...
I'm afraid...
I'm afraid the doctor's going to find this...
I'm afraid of the report...
I'm afraid...
I can't help it..."
Not true.
Not true.
We can't control the world around us and pressures and
cares are going to come, thoughts of fear and doubt,
feelings of anxiety, and they are real.
They are real, and they can be powerful.
But here's the thing.
Just because it comes on you, just because it comes against
you and it tries to squeeze you and oppress you, you do not have
to let it in you.
On you, against you is not at all the same as in you.
In you.
Just because the wind is blowing against your house doesn't mean
the wind is blowing through your kitchen.
Is that right?
Just because it's ninety degrees on top of your house doesn't
mean it's ninety degrees in your bedroom, thank the Lord.
Is that right?
Or if it's twenty below.
How many believe it can be totally different inside than
outside?
And that's what He's talking about, didn't He say it?
Don't let it in.
It's going to come, and that sometimes what's confusing to
people.
They say, "It came, the thoughts, the feelings, they're
real."
I know, I know.
I didn't say it was all easy.
But just because it comes against you does not mean you
just have to throw up your hands and let it inside you, and let
it torment your heart and your mind.
You need to rise up and resist it and say, "No, I'm not letting
this upset me.
I'm not letting this trouble me.
I'm not letting my heart be afraid."
And with His peace and His help we can do that.
Hallelujah.
Somebody say hallelujah or thank You Lord.
Go with me please to Isaiah the fifty third chapter.
Isaiah 53:3, it's talking about Jesus, every one of these
verses is talking about Jesus the Master.
"He is despised and rejected of men," was He rejected of men and
despised?
"A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we
hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we
esteemed Him not.
Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows," and if
you look these words up there are other places translated in
the same King James Bible, sicknesses and pains.
"Yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised
for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was
upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed."
Verse six, "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned
every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the
iniquity of us all."
Verse seven, "He was," what?
"Oppressed, and He was afflicted," isn't that what
we've been talking about this whole series about the
oppression of the enemy and the affliction which causes the - if
you respond incorrectly the torments, the worry, the
anxiety, the pressure.
"Yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the
slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He
openeth not His mouth."
Listen to the NIV on this in verse five, let's back up to
verse five and this is the NIV.
"He was pierced for our transgressions," centuries
before Jesus hung on the cross, this was seen and written.
It's amazing how accurate, perfect.
"He was crushed for our iniquities," now notice this
next phrase, "the punishment that brought us peace was upon
Him."
When He says, "My peace I give you," it's redemptive language
because He also gave us His righteousness.
Didn't He?
He gave us His holiness.
He gave us His mind.
We have the mind of Christ.
I mean, the list goes on and on and on.
Jesus redeemed us completely.
He went to the cross spirit, soul and body.
And He redeemed us spirit, soul and body.

"There arose a great storm of wind, and the waves
beat into the ship, so that it was now full."
You're in a little boat, it's pitch dark, the storm is raging,
the lightning is crashing.
The waves are coming in the boat.
It's time to get scared.
Anybody with good sense is going to get upset and shaken.
Am I right?
I see people answering me, yeah.
You haven't been paying attention the whole time.
Well, let's see if it's right or not.
"Jesus is in the hinder part of the ship," praying intensely?
Because this is a very dangerous situation they're in.
He's, "Asleep on a pillow," in the middle of the storm, in the
middle of the night.
On the dark, black sea.
"And they awake Him," and what's the first thing they say?
What's the first thing they say?
They, "Say, Master," King James says, "carest Thou not that we
perish?"
We don't talk like that.
You understand, they're not on a stage doing a play.
They're out here in a boat and they are scared.
What are they saying?
They come back and they shook Him.
"Master!
Master!
Don't You care?
We're all about to drown out here!
We're all about to be destroyed.
Don't You care?
Don't You care?"
Scared and don't you care go together.
Faith works by love.
Are they scared?
They are scared.
Did they have to be scared?
Are you sure?
"Master, don't You care?"
What are they asking?
They didn't say what do we do.
What's their big deal?
Don't you care that we're going to drown out here?
We're going to go down out here.
Why would they say that?
Because that's the thoughts the enemy has brought to them.
"If God cared about you, you wouldn't be going through this.
Where is your God?"
Why?
Because he knows love is the foundation of faith and if he
can take that out then you get to questioning if God even is
there or cares about you, you can no way have faith in this
situation.
He knows that.
Now the thing that - let's kind of kind of pause this right
here, put up - Isaiah.
Yeah, Isaiah 54:14, put that up on the screen please.
He said, "In righteousness you shall be established: you shall
be far from oppression," why?
"For you shall not fear."
Now oppression, if you take away the "o", what do you have?
Press.
Pression.
This is how the enemy works.
He is the oppressor or the one who brings the pressure.
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth, went about doing good
and healing all who were what?
Oppressed of the devil.
Sickness brings pressure, lack brings pressure, unpaid bills,
unresolved marriage problems, problems with your body,
symptoms, what comes with that?
If it was just the physical thing, you wouldn't be upset and
couldn't sleep over it.
You would just be dealing with the discomfort.
But it's much more than that.
So many times the worst part of the financial crisis was not the
lack of money or dealing with the issues, it was the anxiety,
it was the vexation.
Is that right?
It wasn't just the discomfort or the pain in your body though
that can be bad, it's the fear of dying and not recovering.
It's that stuff that can hang on to you.
But here's the great truth.
The devil can bring it, he can push on you with it, but only
you let it in.
It cannot get in you unless you receive it.
Unless you let it in.
The Bible said, "God didn't give us the spirit of fear but of
power and of love and a sound mind."
And Romans eight says, "We have not received the spirit of fear
again to bondage."
Didn't Jesus say, "Take no thought," didn't He say it
repeatedly, "Take no thought?
Don't take it.
Don't take it.
Don't take it.
It will come, but don't take it.
Don't let it in.
It will come on you, don't let it stay."
How can you be far from the pressure?
Read it again.
Isaiah 54:14.
"In righteousness shall you be established," now you have to
have this because if you don't believe you're right with God,
you're going to have guilt and shame and condemnation, and that
will undermine your faith.
But no matter how much we've messed up, the Blood of the Lamb
is stronger.
Is that right?
I've had people look at me and say, "Yeah, but preacher, you
don't know what I have done."
And I said yeah, you don't know how powerful the Blood is.
It doesn't matter what you've done.
If you're willing to repent and receive it, the Blood can
cleanse from all sin.
The vilest things.
And if you are washed in the Blood and have received His
righteousness, then you are right with God.
And if you are established in that, then you can be far from
oppression, why?
For you shall not fear.
When you don't yield to the fear, it can't squeeze you on
the inside.
It can't press you.
Where does the pressure come from?
That gnawing night and day, "Will we make it?
We're not going to have enough...
We're not going to have enough...
It's not getting better, it's getting worse...
We're not going to make it...
We're not going to make it..."
That fear.
And if you don't fear that, it loses its power and it can't
squeeze you on the inside anymore.
Back in Mark four, why are they yielding to fear?
Why is it squeezing their insides?
Yeah, they let it in, but through what?
How did the enemy deceive them into letting it in?
Why may they all die out here tonight in the water, in the
storm?
Because God may not care whether they make it or not.
He may not even be aware of them or care.
The Master is sleeping, sure looks like He doesn't care.
What should you do?
You look at the Master.
If He's not worried, I'm not worried.
Your head will say, "You sure are worried."
You say shut up.
If He's cool, I'm cool.
If He doesn't care about it, why should I care about it?
"Yeah, but what if all y'all die?"
What is death?
It ain't the end, slipping out of your body.
And if we have more to do, is God big enough to get us through
this and help us finish what we're supposed to do?
And Jesus got up and spoke and has demonstrated this isn't
anything, just like that, it's over.
It's done.
Then He looks at them and what does He say?
Why didn't y'all wake me up earlier?
Y'all let this thing gets so bad.
What's the question?
"Why were you so fearful?
How is it that you have no faith?"
They did not get a gold star for how they handled this.
And we should learn from this.
Should we learn from this saints?
We should learn from this.
Now go with me to the Book of Luke.
One of the reasons why believers, Christians, stay
upset so much and all of us have made mistakes in these areas, is
wrong priorities.
Not having His values and His priorities.
Thinking something is important when it's not.
Thinking something is a big deal when it's not.
Remember we talked about this earlier - what did the Scripture
say?
"When I was a child, I thought like a child."
We talked about little ones how upset a two-year-old can get, a
three-year-old, when they drop their ice cream cone.
I mean, I've seen kids that had a balloon and lost it and it
floated away and they wailed and screamed like it was the end of
the world.
Are they genuinely upset?
Why?
Why are they upset?
"That was my balloon.
It was the bestest balloon in the whole world.
It was the greatest balloon."
Well, no, they make how many of them every day?
How easily replaced is it?
So they're upset because they think something is important,
that's not.
That's not even a deal.
And adults see it as a nonissue.
The same thing is happening with fifty-year-olds.
People pitching a fit, getting upset over something - if you
ask the Lord, He doesn't care about it.
And every time we start getting worked up about something, we
should pause and ask the Lord, Lord, You care about this?
Come on, are y'all with me?
Lord, does this matter to You?
Do You care about this?
And I'm telling you again and again and again, He doesn't care
about it.
Now there are some things He cares about, but there's a whole
lot of stuff - let me read the scripture that talks about that,
that He just doesn't care about.
Luke 16:14 in the Wuest says, "That which is among men
considered to be of an exalted nature is in the sight of God
object of moral and religious nausea and loathing."
Wow.
Luke 16:15 in Today's English says, "For the things that are
considered of great value by people are worth nothing in
God's sight."
He has a different value system than the world.
And you and I need our minds renewed so that we begin to
think like He thinks.
How many think we need to look at Jesus in the back of the boat
and see if He is upset or not?
Is that right?
And if He's not upset - I've had people fly with me before that
have never flown much.
And they made it pretty good, and we were in some weather and
it shook us some.
And they were pretty cool and I was surprised about how cool
they were.
And we landed and I said, "Did you make it?
That was pretty rough."
They said, "Yeah."
I said, "Yeah."
They said, "I just kept looking at you and you looked like you
were okay.
You weren't upset about it so I'm thinking well, it must be
okay."
And they were.
And we were.
How much pain and anguish we could save ourselves if we would
just look at the Captain.
Just look at the Author and Finisher of our faith and say,
"Lord, You okay with this?
You okay?
Does this bother You?
Do You care about this?"
And if He says no then you go, "Okay.
Well then me either."
And your flesh will go, "We care.
We care."
You say, "Shut up.
Shut up.
If He doesn't care..."
We need mind renewal so that were not like the three-year-old
having a hissy fit over an ice cream cone.
In Luke sixteen - no, no, no.
What did I say?
Luke ten is right.
Luke 10:38 it says, "Now it came to pass, as they went,
that Jesus entered into a certain village: and a certain
woman named Martha received Him into her house.
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus'
feet, and heard His Word.
But Martha was cumbered about much serving," cumbered about.
"Cumbered" means "draw" or "dragged all around,"
"distracted."
We live in a distracted world where people live in a
perpetually interrupted, distracted state trying to keep
up with all their texts and all their emails and all their
favorite programs.
And folks are just bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, they're
like a pinball.
They are all over the place.
And these people have no peace.
They have no peace and you'll find as this progresses,
they lose their joy and they are always tired.
They're always tired.
And it does not occur to them and all of us have made mistakes
along this line, but it doesn't occur to them that all this
stuff that I think I have to do, I didn't ask the Lord about it,
He didn't tell me to do it, and most of this I would be better
off not doing.
But you can get used to a certain kind of lifestyle, and
you actually can get addicted to busyness.
Just like somebody that smokes and they quit, I've seen people
that quit smoking - I mean, for the next several years they just
reach for their pocket.
Because what did you do when you had nothing going on?
You smoked.
You just did it without thinking about it.
And people can be so addicted to something going on all the time,
looking at something, hearing something, interacting with
something, answering something all the time that if you just
shut everything off and absolutely nothing is going on,
they immediately start having withdrawals.
They're like, "Where's my phone?
Where's my phone?
Uh.
Uh.
Uh.
It's too quiet around here."
I've had people tell me, "It's too quiet.
It's too still.
I need to be..."
You need to relax.
The Bible said, "Be still and know that I am God."
Martha, I believe she's a good woman.
We're going to see her one of these days.
She's asked Jesus and His company over to her house,
but she is what?
Cumbered about.
She is distracted.
She's pulled all around about.
And she came to the Lord and the Lord is in there in the room
ministering, so she had to interrupt Him.
And she said Lord - what did she say?
Does that sound familiar?
What did she say?
"Don't You care that my sister has left me to serve alone?
Bid her therefore that she help me."
That's King James.
We wouldn't say it that way.
Lord, don't You care?
I'm in here doing all this by myself.
Would you tell that lazy heifer sister of mine to get up off of
her behind and get in here and help me?
I can't do this by myself.
Why did I say that?
Because she's upset.
Is her heart troubled?
Is she upset?
She's upset.
Who is she upset with?
Who?
Not just her sister.
She is upset with the Lord because He didn't care enough to
notice and send her in there to help her, and she's in there by
herself.
And they have a house full of company, and she's got all these
preparations to make.
And she knows He knows things.
You say, "The Lord didn't notice."
No, He sharper than that.
He notices thing.
He knows things.
So she figures, well, He knows and He just doesn't care.
The Lord doesn't care.
This is one of the devil's favorite lies and you would
think we know better enough to not receive it, but I'm telling
you, people are falling right and left with this same old lie.
Where is the Lord?
"If He would have cared, He would've done this.
If He would have cared He wouldn't have let that happen...
If He would've cared...
If He would have cared...
If He would have cared...
You don't care."
And if you agree with that in any degree what you just did is
open up and let this inside you and now it squeezes you.
It squeezes you.
It could press against you, but you didn't have to let it in.
But if you believe that - is it squeezing her?
Is she upset?
Interrupts Jesus.
What was He saying?
He was sharing the Word.
She figures she's so right and Him and her are so wrong, she is
justified.
I believe she's a good woman.
I believe she's a hard worker.
But that doesn't justify this.
I think she was sure that Jesus is going to go that's right, get
up and go help your sister.
That's right.
Get on in there.
Why are you still here?
But, He didn't.
I said, He didn't.
He didn't.
What did He do?
"Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha,"
like we've said before the Lord calls your name twice like that,
just go ahead and kneel down and get ready to repent because
you've messed up.
"You are careful," isn't that what the Lord told us not to do?
You are careful, same word too, "And troubled about many
things."
The NIV says, "... you are worried and upset about many
things."
The Message says, "Martha, dear Martha, you're fussing far too
much and getting yourself worked up over nothing."
But was it over nothing to her?
Now we've already been over this.
What should Martha have done?
Let's get back to the boat.
What should you do?
You are tempted to get shaken, but you have to remember,
compared to the Lord I'm a two-year-old.
I think my balloon flying away is a big, big deal, but I need
to have enough sense to realize it may not be as big a deal as I
thought it was.
Let's check with the big boss.
What should she have done?
She should have checked with the Master.
Shouldn't she?
She should've checked with Him instead of getting all worked up
and all upset.
How do you do it?
First of all you can notice He's not upset about it.
That should tell you something right there.
Does He know things, yes He knows things.
If it was the plan and will of God for her sister to be in the
kitchen working away, and the Father had spoken it to Jesus He
said, "I just say what the Father says.
I do what I see the Father do."
It would've come up.
And the fact that it hasn't come up could begin to reveal to you,
this could not be as important as I'm thinking it is.
At the very least be considerate, show some humility
and ask.
Pride assumes.
Pride presumes.
Didn't she presume we have all this to be done?
I need some help.
Everybody knows.
Why doesn't the Lord know?
But just you being worked up and upset shows you are wrong.
Just you being upset and all worked up shows you are wrong.
And at the very least you go ask.
Lord, should she come in here and help me?
Very likely He would've said no, you just sit down right here
too.
Because of what He said.
Look at what He said.
He said, "Martha, Martha.
You are full of care trouble about all these many things.
One thing," one thing, "is needful."
Was it what was going on in the kitchen?
Was the one thing the meal?
She's upset about that because she's just sure that's the most
important thing because all these people are going to need
to eat here in a little bit and it's not going to magically
appear by itself.
Or...
could it?
It did.
I said, it did.
A few loaves and fishes fed thousands of people with twelve
baskets left over and nobody slaved in the kitchen.
Nobody even turned the stove on.
She didn't check with the Lord.
She assumed this is the most important thing and when it
wasn't going the way that she was just sure it needed to go
and had to go, she starts getting worked up, worked up,
worked up, upset, troubled.
Angry at her sister, upset with the Lord.
But who's in the wrong here?
She is.
Not her sister.
According to Jesus her sister is right where she needs to be
right now.
Is the Lord in the wrong?
The Lord's not in the wrong.
Who needs to repent?
"Martha, Martha."
Dear.
"Mary has chosen that good part which shall not be taken away
from her."

James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be
given him."
Let's take this seriously.
If you don't know how to deal with something, you don't know
what's going on, ask for the wisdom of God and what did He
say?
He'll give it to you.
What that means is you will be clueless one minute and then
you'll just know, you'll just know what's going on and you
will just know what to do.
The wisdom of God is wonderful.
Verse six, "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.
For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the
wind and tossed.
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of
the Lord."
For, "A double minded man is," what?
"Unstable in all his ways."
And here is the revelation of why people are unstable, whether
it's me or you.
Read the verse.
"Double minded."
Duo is the Greek word.
We're not supposed to vacillate between thinking the problem and
what the Lord said.
We're supposed to fixate on what the Lord said and not let
ourselves be troubled and put into fear by these other things.
If we don't - if we say, "The Lord said this, but look at
this, oh, man.
Yeah, but...."
It's going to result in instability.
Instability.
You don't want to be unstable, you want to be stable.
You want to be solid.
How do you get there?
With the mind on these things.
Think on these things.
It's a choice.
Any time you feel your soul bouncing around and you just
feel insecure and you just feel like you don't know what to do
what's going to happen, how this thing is going to turn out,
you know right away you have been thinking on the wrong
thing.
You been looking at the wrong thing, thinking on the wrong
thing, talking on the wrong thing.
How can I get stable?
Christians have just tried to pray and beg God continually and
hope that He will just fix everything.
Only to find out it didn't work out that way.
God is not going to control our mind.
He told us to do it.
Jesus gave us His peace, right?
To do it with.
But if we don't control our minds, we will be perpetually
unstable.
"Yeah, I think we will...
I don't know if we can...
I hope so...
Yeah, we will...
I don't know..."
Unstable.
I said, unstable.
The devil is a master at deception.
And the only thing we can do, we can't try to match wits and
reason with all the stuff he could bring to your mind, what
we have to do is just change the channel.
Y'all with me?
Don't try to listen to two programs at once.
Let me give you some really good advice.
Really good advice.
Have you ever tried to talk on the phone and somebody is trying
to talk to you while you're talking on the phone?
How did that work out for you?
You didn't like that, did you?
It upsets and bothers people.
A lot of times people make the wrong decision when they are
doing that.
All you have to do is decide which is the more important
voice.
Just because you are on the phone doesn't mean you should
automatically ignore whoever is talking to you here.
But you have to ascertain which is the more important voice and
then pause the other one.
Oh, this is going over big, isn't it?
"Well, I'm on the phone."
Just because you're on the phone doesn't mean it's the most
important thing in the world.
And we live in a technological society where people are almost
hardwired to their device, that if it dings, you'll see a
physical response.
Gotta get that phone, gotta check that text, gotta, gotta.
But the reason I'm saying this, this is a problem.
What that means is you are easily distracted and that you
are too easily interrupted.
Now if what was coming on the text is the most important thing
right now, well okay.
But it's not going to be every time it dings that that's the
most important thing.
And we cannot take in all of the inputs and be stable.
You will be double minded, back and forth.
A lot of people pride themselves on what multitaskers they are.
But you really cannot truly multitask.
Flying a jet airplane in bad weather, low approach,
difficult, you would think you're multitasking because
buddy you are scanning about twenty instruments.
You are talking on the radio, you are descending, you are
controlling speed, you have a lot of stuff going on.
What I have noticed you cannot look at two gauges at the same
time.
So what people call multitasking is just going back and forth
between things quickly, and when you look at this, you're missing
something here.
And when you're checking your text while you're driving down
the road, ain't nobody that good.
As long as nothing is really going on, you may think you're a
great driver, but if something comes up and your attention is
here instead of here, those split seconds you would've had
are lost and gone.
Anybody know what I'm talking about?
And the reason I'm bringing these things up is because we
must learn and develop discipline to shut things out,
shut things off.
And when I say shut them out, I mean not kind of, I mean out.
And if you don't learn how to do that, you will not be successful
fighting the good fight of faith because this is how it's waged.
You have to decide - thoughts will come.
We talked about this last time.
Paul said the care of all the churches came on him daily.
He didn't say he let them stay.
He is the one that penned, "Be careful for nothing."
How many believe he practiced what he preached?
Well then he didn't go around anxious and worried about the
churches all the time.
The Lord showed him what to do.
And thoughts will come.
You're not going to live in this world and no thoughts and
feelings come to you.
They are going to come.
You are going to be tempted to worry, to be anxious, to fear.
But what we have to learn how to do is the moment they come,
stand up on the inside and say no.
I'm not thinking this.
No.
I am not dwelling on this.
I'm not looking at this.
I'm not thinking about this, and then have enough discipline and
control in your mind that you don't do it.
Now if it comes back to you five hundred times before the day is
out, you resist it five hundred times.
But you don't just sit there and let it loop.
"What are we going to do?
What are we going to do?
What are we going to do?
They said this about you...
I thought they were our friend...
I thought they were our friend...
I thought they were our friend..."
That's just supposed to needle you until you are enraged and
we're acting a fool if we sit there and let it loop like that.
You have to recognize it and grab a hold of it and say no.
No.
No.
I'm not - this thought did not come from God.
These feelings do not come from God.
So I am not letting them stay in my mind.
Go to 2 Corinthians please.
Corinthians 10:3, "Though we walk in the flesh, we do not war
after the flesh."
There's been a whole lot of talk about Spiritual warfare.
And some folks have gotten some strange ideas about it.
But when it comes to personal spiritual conflict, this is a
detailed description of how it works.
Verse five, "Casting down," what?
"Imaginations," that's thoughts, and these thoughts come with
video, audio and feelings.
You talk about - it's beyond the 3-D experience.
If you sit there, you can get immersed in these thoughts until
you are reliving some tragic thing that happened to you over
and over and over again or some terrible thing that you are
expecting is going to happen to you.
You are living it in living color.
You have to get a hold of yourself and say quit it!
Quit thinking about this!
Grab it and throw it down.
This is not God.
The Lord didn't tell me this.
This is not right.
Fear, I resist you.
Depression, get out of here.
We're not supposed to just sit there and let it loop.
We're supposed to resist it and cast down these imaginations,
"And every high thing that exalts itself against the
knowledge of God," now what that is is exactly what the devil did
out of the tree of knowledge of good and evil with Adam and Eve.
That's what Paul said in 2 Corinthians, I don't want your
minds to be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
You can get a Word from the Lord and the enemy will come and try
to contradict it.
"Don't eat of the fruit of the tree because if you do, you'll
die."
And he said, "No, no.
You won't die."
Lying devil.
Well, isn't that something?
He is exalting this thought over what God said.
He is saying, "No, what God said is wrong."
The Lord told you He's going to take care of you.
You have sown, it's coming back to you, good measure, pressed
down, shaken together, running over.
He's going to meet all your needs and the devil will come
and say, "No.
You're not going to make it.
You're not going to make it.
You're not going to make it.
Look at this, does that look like you're going to make it?
What about this?"
I mean, these thoughts come with feelings.
They are real and they can be powerful.
You will feel like you're not going to make it, and if we're
not smart, what will we do?
Pull the shades, tell everybody don't disturb me.
Get out an extra box of Kleenex.
Sit down in your most comfortable chair in the bed.
Maybe take your eye thing and put it on because you know a
headache is coming.
And just let it loop and feel sorry for yourself.
That's how you can be destroyed.
That's how everything can just completely go wrong in your life
and you not get God's help.
And it's sad because a lot of folks don't know the Word
enough, they just beg God, beg God, "Oh please God, please God.
Please God, make this stop.
Please God make this stop.
Please God, do something about this."
And He told us to do something, and a lot of times if you tell
people what the Lord said they'll argue and say, "You
don't know what I'm going through.
If you were in this mess, you wouldn't say just cheer up.
I can't help it.
I've tried."
This is not true.
No matter what you may be experiencing, it is possible to
say I'm not thinking about that.
I am thinking about this.
Hallelujah.
And if I am spiritually minded, what have I just connected
myself to?
Life and peace.
There will be a flow, hallelujah, out of God's
thoughts into my heart and mind that will quicken me.
The Book of Psalms is full of them.
So many of the Psalms was when the psalmist was going through a
difficult time and he or they said I'm going to remember the
Lord my God and they began to talk about what He did when He
split the Red Sea, and when He fed the children of Israel with
manna, and He did this and He did that, and got stirred up
until they are giving hallelujahs, that's right.
Praising Yah.
Well, is there any victory in this?
Is this a coincidence that Philippians four started off
with rejoice in the Lord always and be careful for nothing?
This all goes together.
You get to thinking about what God has said and what God has
done and how good He is, how much He loves you, what a good
plan He has for you, how powerful He is, you quit being
depressed and you begin to rejoice, and that joy is your
strength.
You get a quickening, you get a surge.
Oh, somebody say: "I believe it.
(Congregation repeats) I believe it."
If you do, hallelujah.
Oh, somebody say hallelujah.
Go with me over to 1 Samuel the thirtieth chapter.
Now some people would say, "Well, that's just not - that's
just not reality.
If it's a bad enough situation, you're going to - bad enough
situation, anybody will lose it.
It's just going to get to you, and you're not going to be able
to help it."
Well, if you believe that, you believe you are helpless to
whatever thoughts and feelings are going to come your way and
you will be unstable.
I don't want to be unstable.
How about you?
Are there a lot of unstable people around?
Oh, brother.
I mean, they are up and down and in and out from day to day you
don't half know who you're talking to.
And it's because of this: whatever thoughts and feelings
come to them that day, that's where they are.
And they're just along for the ride.
But people of God don't have to be along for the ride.
"Greater is He that's in us than he that is in the world."
First Samuel thirty, David and his men and their families lived
in this town called the Ziklag and they had been out on a
military campaign and while they were gone the enemy came and
took everybody.
Took everybody's spouse, their wives, their kids, their
livestock, their silver and gold, their animals, everything,
and torched the rest.
Burned everything to the ground.
Now this would be a trial of a situation: can you overcome the
emotional feelings?
Your babies are gone.
Your spouse - and for all you know they are dead somewhere, or
you will never see them again.
Sold into slavery.
Your wealth that you have accumulated, your savings,
your retirement, gone.
Your house that you just got paid off, burnt to the ground.
Nothing left.
Well, the Bible said these men who are some of the most
courageous warriors on the earth at this time, said they cried
until they had no more power to cry.
Because what are they thinking about?
My kids.
My wife.
My livelihood.
My whole life.
And they got so distraught until some of them started talking
about killing David.
Why?
I mean days ago they thought he was the greatest thing around.
Well, they were out with him doing something when this
happened.
You know, when people are hurting, they want to blame
somebody.
It's an ugly thing.
It's one of the reasons we have so many frivolous lawsuits.
Y'all listening?
People don't want to take any responsibility for anything that
happens to them.
And if there's a chance to get some money, all the better.
No, we should take responsibility.
Should you have even been there?
Should you have even done business with them?
You understand what I'm saying?
Should you have even been involved with them?
Take some responsibility for not hearing the Lord, for not
praying, for not doing what we should do.
But anyway, they're hurting, they want to blame somebody
else, take it out on somebody else.
This is devilish, this is evil wanting to take it out on
somebody else when you're hurting.
Watch about that.
Not only should you not take it out on them, you should get out
from under this pressure yourself.
And David knew how to do it.
Come on, are you reading?
Verse six, "David was greatly distressed; for the people spake
of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved,
every man for his sons and for his daughters," well, you could
understand that, but, but, "but David," did what?
"Encouraged himself in the Lord his God."

"He took up our infirmities, He carried our sorrows," look
at verse five.
"He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed
for our iniquities.
The punishment that brought us peace was on Him and by His
wounds we are healed."
This is covering different areas.
Can you see that friend?
I want you to say this out loud: "The punishment (Congregation
repeats) that brought me peace was on Him."
What was on Him?
Congregation: The punishment.
Now that's another word for "chastisement."
Chastisement.
Now the word "chastise," we don't use that word all that
much today, we would probably use the word "whipping," or
"beating."
It means "to inflict punishment on," it means, "to whip or to
beat with blows like with a stick or a reed, " something
hard.
We'd say a stick or a rod, being beat with it.
So, the beating brought us peace and the stripes brought us
healing.
We have to watch about lumping all of this together and not
seeing what was covered.
These are not resulting in the same thing.
People talk about redemption, the Blood of the Lamb has saved
us, yes.
Amen.
When did He pay for our sins?
"Well, when He went to the cross."
Well, why did He go to the scourging post?
"Well, that paid for our sins."
I thought going to the cross did that.
And then He was mocked, and He was ridiculed, He was smitten
with blows.
A crown of thorns was made and jammed on His head and then they
took sticks - we're going to read it in just a minute, and
they beat on that crown of thorns on His head.
That's another thing from Him being tied to the whipping post
and taking the stripes.
Was it all just redundant, repetitive for no reason,
unnecessary?
What's happening in these things?
Well, we are told right here.
Back up again to verse four.
"He took our infirmities, He carried our sorrows."
Verse five, "He was pierced for our transgressions," those
spikes pierced Him, didn't they?
"He was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment," and
again that is being beat like with a rod, brought us peace,
and by His stripes," that brought us healing.
I hear gears turning.
Go with me to - well, you go to Matthew the twenty seventh
chapter and we're going to put up some other verses on the
screen on our way to that.
John 10:17 Jesus said, "My Father loves Me, because I lay
down My life, that I might take it again.
No man takes it from Me, I lay it down of Myself.
I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
This commandment have I received of My Father."
The Father God told Him that, gave Him that Word.
And it was demonstrated when they came to take Him in the
Garden - do you remember that?
And He said, "Who are you looking for?"
And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth."
And He said, "I Am," and man, they all hit the ground.
Do you remember that?
What is that demonstrating?
Ain't nobody taking Him unless He lets them take Him.
Didn't He say, "Don't you know I could call on the Father and
legions of angels," is that right, would come and would
deliver Him.
But aren't we thankful He didn't?
Because if He had been delivered, we would be lost.
But I'm just emphasizing the point that nothing happened of
any of these things because Jesus was powerless to do
anything about it.
Every one of these things had been prophesied just like this
passage in Isaiah centuries before.
Have you ever read Psalm twenty-two?
I mean, it is word for word what's happening on the cross,
details of what happened and how.
Not a bone of Him will be broken.
Anybody remember all this?
They looked upon Him Whom they had pierced.
I mean thing after thing after thing.
This is not just something that happened, every one of these
things is redemptive.
Him being our sacrifice, the Lamb of God sacrificed for us.
John nineteen don't turn there, but the chief priests were
yelling, "Crucify Him!
Crucify Him!"
And in verse eleven Jesus boldly told Pilate.
He said, "You could have no power at all against Me, except
it were given you from above," that's one of the things that
shocked Pilate is this guy is not even scared of him.
And you remember with Herod, and some of those other guys, He
wouldn't even answer them.
He would not even respond to them.
Most people would be, in that day and age, they would've been
begging for their life, begging, begging, please, spare my life,
don't crucify me.
Don't kill me.
He didn't do any of that.
And it's obvious that it's not happening beyond the plan of
God.
All of this was planned.
Can you see this friends?
And what was happening - think about the scourging.
You could die just from the scourging, from that alone.
And the reason why He was even scourged to begin with according
to Pilate, He kept saying in
Luke 23:16, "I will chastise Him, and release Him."
He thought that would be enough, and he had to release one anyway
that day, and he thought he had it figured out.
He said again in verse twenty-four, they kept saying,
"Crucify Him!
Crucify Him!"
And he said, "Why, what evil has He done?
I have found no cause of death in Him: I will chastise Him,
and let Him go."
But, he didn't let Him go.
So He not only got crucified, He also got scourged and all the
other things.
None of this was normal and none of it was necessary if you're
going to just execute somebody.
In fact, they probably preferred Him in better shape so they
would hang on the cross longer.
But every one of these things was not for Him, it was for me,
it was for you, because something was happening on the
outside you could see, but something else was happening on
the inside you couldn't see, represented by what was
happening on the outside.
Now Matthew twenty-seven, are you there?
Matthew twenty-seven.
Oh, get ready to shout.
Get ready to get free.
What will the truth do for you?
What will it do for you?
Matthew 27:26, "Then released he Barabbas to them: and when he
had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.
Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the
common hall, and gathered unto Him the whole band of soldiers.
And they stripped Him, and put on Him a scarlet robe."
Why?
Because they had said that He had said and others had said He
was a King.
This was His big offense, that He is a King.
How many understand He's not just a King?
He's the King of kings.
Was and is and always will be.
But that was the terrible thing that He should die for.
Even the religious leaders stood up there and shouted, "We don't
have any ruler except Caesar."
So they then, "Platted a crown of thorns, they put it," where?
"Upon His head," now I want you remember the prophecy.
The chastisement which means beating, whipping of our what?
Our peace was on Him.
They put it on His head, "And a reed in His right hand: and they
bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, Hail, King
of the Jews!
And they spit on Him," hail King of the Jews, "and took the
reed," a reed is a stick, "and smote Him," where?
"On the head."
Well when you hit somebody on the head with thorns on their
head, what's that going to do?
It drives the thorns into the scalp, and blood.
Was this necessary?
Then He goes on to the cross and He is nailed there.
Why is all this necessary?
Why wouldn't our sins be laid on Him at the cross and that's the
end of it?
Everything is paying for something that we need.
What's being paid for here?
Thorns are jamming down into your skull and whack!
Whack!
Jammed down in.
The Bible tells us what that was for.
For our peace.
For our peace.
Not just that we can have peace, our peace has been bought and
paid for with a terrible price.
For me to act like I can't have peace in this life is to
disrespect what He did to get it for me.
That's why in the same breath that He says, "Don't let your
heart be troubled, don't let your heart be afraid," what did
He say?
"My peace I am giving to you."
Not like the world, you can't find this in the world, you
can't find it in a bottle or a pill, you can't find it in
anything.
But I'm giving you My peace.
What would give Him the right to do that?
We didn't earn it, we didn't deserve it.
Because He took the place of our mental anguish, our depression,
and torment.
And you're going to see more evidence of it as we keep going.
What are they doing?
They're spitting on Him.
They are hitting Him.
They are whacking Him.
These thorns - this is before He's on the cross.
Unnecessary?
Beyond His control?
No.
And no.
Part of the plan of God.
Part of redemption price paid.
And why did He take our sins?
So we can have His righteousness.
Why were our sicknesses and pains laid on Him?
So we could be healed.
Why was the beating of our peace on Him?
So we could have the peace that passes understanding.
When everything is going wrong all around us, we can be like
calm on the inside and have peace on our hearts and minds no
matter what's going on.
Is it normal?
Not according to the world.
It's not even natural.
It's supernatural, hallelujah, and it's bought and paid for by
your Savior.
Do you believe it saints?
Do you believe it?
And they took the robe off of Him they mocked Him, and then
finally they took the robe off of Him and put His own clothes
and led Him away to crucify Him.
Verse forty-one the chief priests they're at the cross,
they're mocking Him.
And the scribes and the elders and they said, "He saved others;
Himself He cannot save."
Come down from the cross and we'll believe you, King of
Israel.
Mocking Him.
"He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now, if He will have
Him: for He said, I am the Son of God.
The thieves which were crucified with Him, cast the same in His
teeth.
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land
unto the ninth hour.
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,
Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?
That is to say," what?
"My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"
Now, is the Master troubled?
Yes.
Well, listen to the words.
"My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?"
Is He troubled?
Is He vexed?
Is something pressing Him?
Yes.
Yes.
You know why?
Is He experiencing pressure, oppression, anxiety?
The chastisement of our peace was on Him so we could have
this.
Now not to say He got out of faith, because what was the last
words that He said?
"Father, into Your hands I commend My spirit and then He
breathed His last and gave up the Ghost."
But why is He experiencing this obvious vexation?
It's part of the curse for breaking God's law.
Go to Deuteronomy twenty-eight, I have just a couple of
Scriptures for you.
Anybody believe in redemption?
Anybody believe Jesus was our Substitute?
You believe that?
Did He take your place?
Just in a couple areas?
Did He miss some areas?
Did He take your place spirit, soul and body?
Did He do it?
Did He do it?
Then am I redeemed?
Are you redeemed spirit, soul and body?
Every part of us.
That includes your mind.
Deuteronomy twenty-eight, anybody know what's in
Deuteronomy twenty-eight?
The blessings and the curses of either keeping or not keeping
God's law.
If you did what the Lord said and obeyed Him and lived for
Him, you would be blessed when you went out, blessed when you
came back in, blessed in your basket and your store,
everything you set your hand to, your enemies would run away
several different ways, is that right?
I mean, your crops would be blessed, your basket, your
store.
First half of the chapter sounds mighty good.
But the last half of the chapter sounds terrible.
And it was the result of if you don't - if you decide I don't
care about God, I'm not living for God, I don't care what He
said, I'm not doing anything He said, and you ignore Him and you
rebel against Him, then He said, "All these curses are going to
come on you."
You will be cursed when you go out and when you come back in.
Your basket, fruit of your body, your flocks and herds, cursed,
cursed.
You will go out against your enemy and he'll run over you and
you will run away seven different ways.
Just the opposite of the blessing.
It's all turned on its head.
But I want you to notice what is part of the curse of the law.
Deuteronomy 28:27, "The Lord will smite you with the botch of
Egypt," now you don't have to know what that is to know you
don't want it.
"And with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch,
whereof you cannot not be healed.
And the Lord will smite you with madness and blindness and
astonishment of heart.
And you will grope in the new day as the blind gropes and you
will not prosper in your ways and you will be," what?
"Oppressed and spoiled ever more and no man will save you."
Now skip down to sixty-five.
It continues to go on that you will be driven out of your land
and have to be forced to serve other gods in a foreign land and
verse sixty-five, "Among these nations you shall find no ease,
neither shall the sole of your foot have rest: but the Lord
will give you here a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and
sorrow of mind," is this being upset?
Is this being scared and worried?
It is.
"And your life will hang in doubt before you; and you shall
fear day and night, and shall have none assurance of your
life: In the morning you will say, Would God it were even!
And at even you shall say, Would God it were morning!
For the fear of your heart wherewith you shall fear, and
for the sight of your eyes which you shall see."
Is this mental anguish and soulical anguish?
Anybody know Galatians 3:13?
Put Galatians 3:13 on the screen, please.
Somebody said, "Why in the world would you read such terrible
things?"
Because we have been, "Redeemed from the curse of the law,"
we were just reading in the curse of the law.
Part of the curse of the law is mental anguish and mental and
soulical and emotional torment.
And the Scripture says, the New Testament says in Galatians
3:13, "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law; being
made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one
that hangs on a tree."
Did He hang on a tree?
Did the curse come on Him?
In the mocking, the spitting, the beating, the being stripped,
the thorns on the head, the scourging on the whipping post,
and hanging on the cross, did Jesus - He never sinned, but did
our sins come on Him?
Did He become sin with our sin?
And what's the wages of sin?
Death in every realm.
And the cause of every sickness, of every disease, of every pain
came on Him.
Every kind of mental anguish and torment came on Him.
Did He know what it was like to experience hopelessness and
desperation?
Where is God?
People say, "Nobody knows."
He not only knows what you have ever felt like, He knows what
all of us have ever felt like.
It came on Him with the full force of death.
Why?
He never sinned.
Why?
Why is He letting this happen to Him?
Why did He let them jam those thorns into His scalp?
Why did He let them beat Him with these reeds and spit on Him
and mock Him?
Why?
Why?
For you.
For me.
So I never have to go a day and night where I am tormented and
vexed.
I never have to go thirty minutes in desperation and fear
because He took that for me and He gave me His peace.
Hallelujah.
Am I reading Bible saints?
Am I reading the Bible?
Come on, somebody say: "Christ (Congregation repeats)
has redeemed me from the curse of the law."
Hallelujah.
Say it again, say it further: "The chastisement (Congregation
repeats) of my peace was on Him and by His stripes I am healed."
Hallelujah.
That's got nothing to do with what you've heard or thought or
experienced or felt.
It happened centuries ago.
In fact, in God's mind, it happened before the foundation
of the world.
It was bought, it was paid for, it's been given.
Hallelujah.
And now all those that will believe it and receive it can
enjoy it, and all those that ignore the Word and it has no
place and they don't respect it, they'll continue to mop along
and grieve and worry and fear and waste most of their life.
And even if they are good Christians, they'll get out of
this life and they'll look back and go, "I was so dumb.
I did not have to go through all of that," and you'll see the
Master and you will love Him and you will melt at His feet and
you'll go, "Lord, I didn't have to go through all that."
And He'll say, "I told you.
I told you.
I told you, I took it for you.
You didn't have to have it."
Stand on your feet everybody.

In 2 Corinthians the first chapter, you're going to
Luke, right?
He talked about how God comforted him and in verse eight
he said, "For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of
our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out
of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even
of life," did pressure come on him?
Came on him in such a degree that he thought that if it was
just up to him to handle it, he would die.
"But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we
should not trust in ourselves," this is a perfect description of
casting the care off of you, deciding I can't fix this so I'm
not going to hold on to this like I can, I'm going to give it
to God.
I'm not trusting that I can do anything about this, I'm
trusting in God Who, "Raises the dead," if He could raise the
dead He can get our bills paid.
If He can raise the dead He can help us with these kids and
grandkids.
If He can raise the dead and the Bible said He, "Delivered us
from so great a death, and does deliver: in Whom we trust that
He will yet deliver us."
Paul by the Spirit of God in the midst of a situation where he
was pressed to the point of death, got it off of himself,
quit depending on himself to do it, trusted in God and God
brought him through.
Delivered him.
How do you deal with this pressure?
Well, in Luke there, Luke twenty-one, you see why the
enemy does this.
The Scripture says, "With the heart man believes," and
Proverbs said, "Guard your heart with all diligence for out of
it," out of your heart, "are the issues of life."
Not just talking about your physical blood pump, but talking
about the core of your being.
The spiritual part of you.
The hidden man of the heart.
Where is the life coming from that keeps your heart beating
and your lungs working?
Where is it coming from?
People say, some folks will try to tell us, "There are regions
in the brain where these impulses come from."
Fine, fine.
Where does it come from to get to there?
They can't tell you.
It can't be seen under a microscope.
It's life.
They would call it the mystery of life.
But the reason life is flowing to these parts of our body,
along our nerves and in our brain, is because we are a
living spirit.
Hallelujah.
When the spirit leaves the body, all that life flow is gone so
the body can't continue.
But, out of our heart flows the issues of life.
So the enemy wants to attack, not just your mind and your
body, he wants to attack your heart and choke off the flow of
life.
And as we studied last week, care, anxious care and worry has
the ability to choke the Word of God in your heart and life.
Worrying is not an innocent thing.
Worry is not a non-issue, no deal.
It's a very big deal.
It hurts you.
It chokes you.
Read this.
"And take heed to yourselves," Luke 21:34, "lest at any time
your hearts be," what?
"overcharged.."
The Young's Literal says, "... lest your hearts may be
weighed down with surfeiting,
drunkenness, anxieties of life..."
What does it do to your heart?
It weighs down.
Well, what does weight do if it's on you?
It pushes, it presses, weighs you down.
The Amplified says, "Take heed to yourselves and be on your
guard, lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed
(weighed down) with the giddiness and headache and
nausea of self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries
and cares pertaining to [the business of] this life..."
All of this is us allowing pressure to choke us, to squeeze
us.
And people think it's unavoidable if it's happening
round about you, how can you get out of it?
Wrong.
I said, wrong.
Just because it's on the outside doesn't mean you have to let it
on the inside.
Oh, somebody say, "Hallelujah.
(Congregation repeats) I don't have to be full of worry.
I don't have to be full of care.
I don't have to be upset."
Now you're going to have to make a quality decision because
you're going to have all kind of opportunities to get upset and
to worry.
But you're just going to have to keep passing them and say no,
I'll pass.
Get upset.
No, I'll pass.
And here's the thing and you have to get ready for this,
including your loved ones, including your bestest friends.
If people are under pressure themselves, they will try to
pressure you and even get upset when you don't get just as upset
as they are, because, "You don't care.
I'm so upset, I'm so upset.
If you care about me you'll get upset with me."
Nope, I'll pass.
Doesn't mean I don't care about you, I care enough about you to
want to do something that actually helps the situation.
That means I 'gots' to stay in faith. (Laughter)
Right?
I've got to enter in to that rest.
Because that's how God moves in the earth is in connection with
our faith.
And me getting upset with you or anybody else is not going to
help.
In fact, it can make it worse.
And if I let that care and anxiety and fear and worry in
me, it's going to sit on me, it's going to sit on my heart
like an elephant.
It's going to squeeze and choke the Word out of my heart.
No, thanks.
I'll pass.
How about you?
Second Corinthians four.
We've all made mistakes in these areas, we've already said that
several times.
But I'm convinced you don't have to live that way.
I'm convinced no matter what happens, you can still have the
peace of God that passes understanding on the inside of
you.
Second Corinthians 4:8 he said, "We are troubled on every side,"
is Paul a man of faith?
Now see, some folks that don't understand it they would've
wrote him back and said, "Now Paul, don't make that bad
confession.
Where'd you learn about faith from?"
This is faith.
The faith is the rest of the sentence.
Faith is not denying that there are issues, faith is what we
believe anyhow in the face of these circumstances.
"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed."
Oh, somebody help me preach this now.
The word 'troubled' literally means 'to crowd', 'to squeeze'.
The RV says, "We are pressed on every side, but we're not
distressed."
And the Greek literally means 'cramped'.
Pressed but not cramped.
Pressed but not squeezed.
It's pushing on me, but it's not squeezing me on the inside.
It's trying to push against me, trying to get me to worry,
trying to get me to get mad, trying to get me to be hurt,
trying to get me to be upset, but I'll pass.
I'm just not going to do it.
No.
No, no, no, no.
"Did you hear what they said about you?
Did you hear what they did?
Oh, did you know they did this?
Surely you'll get mad about this."
I better not.
I just better not.
No.
I like being healed, I'll pass.
I like having all my bills paid.
I'll pass.
It's just a better quality of life.
Being upset all the time gets old.
Wears you down.
And fewer and fewer people want to be around you.
Come on now.
You like being around people that are upset and fuming and
half fussing and cussing all the time?
You like being around all that?
Well then people don't like being around you if you're being
like that.
You know who people like being around?
Folks that are happy.
All the time.
All the time happy.
That's a witness.
That's a witness to the other believers, the other members of
your family.
Will there be opportunities to be upset?
Oh, don't sit there and look so sanctified.
Come on now.
Act like you've never been to a dinner or a family gathering.
Will there be opportunities to get your little feelings hurt?
To get rubbed the wrong way?
To get agitated, to get slightly upset?
"Now I'm not going to say anything, but you know, they
shouldn't have done that.
They shouldn't have said that."
And so you sit over there with your fake and phony smile for
the next two hours, the rest of the day.
And as well as you might do it, folks back in the kitchen are
going, "What's wrong with her?
What's wrong with him?
Do you know?"
Well, they are being un-Christian.
What we get upset about and how upset we get reveals a lot about
us.
If you get upset over any little thing, you're a baby.
Baby, baby Christian.
Don't care how much you talk in tongues, how may Scriptures you
quote, you're a baby.
Have not developed, have not matured.
Oh, but friend, when big stuff happens that shakes everybody
around you and you felt it and you thought - boy, you feel so
pulled, getting mad or yell or do something and you go, "I'll
pass.
Somebody needs to believe God around here."
Is that right?
What we need to do is trust God and now is not time to lose it.
And if people all around you are losing it and you abide in the
peace that passes understanding, they will not soon forget it.
And even if they call themselves agnostic, atheist, whatever,
they will remember it when they go back home.
It will make a lasting impression on them.
They didn't even know it was possible to act like that and be
like that.
That no matter what they say and do, you still have your peace,
you still have your joy, you still walk in love, you still
walk in faith.
How many would agree this is a powerful witness of a real
Jesus?
Isn't it?
Second Corinthians 4:8 Paul said, "We are troubled," that
means pressed, "On every side, yet not distressed."
Yet not cramped.
"We are perplexed," that literally means to be at a loss,
"but not in despair," not despondent.
Now here's something we have to get a revelation of.
Just because you don't know what's going on, just because
you don't know the answer, just because you don't know how to
deal with it, is no justification for being upset
and mad and frustrated.
"Well, if I knew, I could relax."
You can relax without knowing.
"If I just knew what to do, then I could relax."
No, there will be something else to get upset about right after
that.
You have to learn how to relax before you know.
Before you know why.
Before you know how.
You have to learn how to relax.
Years ago, one of the first ministry trips in the states I
went on, this has been decades ago, I had prayed and studied
the night before but just couldn't seem to get a handle on
what I'm supposed to speak.
And I'm young, and it was bothering me some.
So I thought well, I don't need it right now, so - then the day
came.
And then I'm on the plane, commercial airliner.
And I'm sitting in the seat and we're flying and I'm supposed to
speak that night, and it's late in the day.
I'm going to be there in a couple hours, they're going take
me to the church and then I'm going to speak.
And I don't know.
And it was beginning to bug me.
I was beginning to get agitated.
A little uneasy.
More than that.
And finally under my breath I said Lord, anytime would be
good.
And here's what He said.
He said, "Do you trust Me?"
I don't mean I heard a voice but inside me, "Do you trust Me?"
Anybody know the correct answer to that?
I said yes, yes.
He said, "Well, relax."
Oh, did you hear that phrase now?
"Do you trust Me?
Well, relax."
If you're not relaxing, what does that mean?
You don't trust Him.
"He might not come through.
I might not get it in time.
I might not have the money in time."
This is why folks can't rest.
It's simply lack of faith.
Lack of trust.
I sat there and I realized okay now it's either or.
So I said okay, fine.
I'll relax.
So I ordered me a ginger ale, just looked out the window.
I'm not saying it was easy because it was pressing against
me, it was pushing against me.
Two hours.
One hour.
Thirty minutes.
But I had a Word from the Lord.
What did He say?
"Do you trust Me?"
What's the word?
"Relax."
What does that mean?
He's going to take care of me.
It's going to be alright.
It's going to be fine.
Yeah, but I don't know.
Yeah, but you don't have to know to relax.
Is that what He said right here?
Isn't that what He said?
Perplexed, and I was perplexed as to what I was going to talk
about.
Perplexed but what?
Not in despair.
At a loss, but not despondent.
Not down over it.
"Yeah, but I don't know, yeah, but I don't know."
Yeah, but you don't have to be upset because you don't know.
You can have peace before you know.
You can rest before you know.
"Yeah, but I have to know.
I have to know."
You don't have to know to have faith.
You don't.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things - it ain't seen yet.
And if we're to live by faith and walk by faith and you can't
help but be upset until you see it and know it, well then you're
going to be upset all the time.
Got off the plane, they picked me up, they're taking me to the
church, took me in the back room, gave me the microphone,
took me up on the platform.
Introduced me real good.
And I'm sitting there telling myself relax.
Just relax.
The Lord said, I got a Word from the Lord.
What's the word?
Relax.
There are a lot of people there.
"What are you going to say?
What are you going to do?"
And that's what the enemy is.
He wants to push on you.
"What are you going to do?
What are you going to say?
What if you get up there and you have nothing to say?
What if you get up there and you don't know what to do?
People are going to look at you and say what is that dummy
doing?
He's up there doing nothing, why did they invite him?
Traveled all this way just to stand up there and look dumb?"
Just as I stepped up to the pulpit a word of knowledge came
to me.
A word of wisdom came to me.
Gifts of the Spirit.
It was that way for the whole service.
The reason He didn't give me a sermon, I didn't need a sermon.
We weren't going to do a sermon that night.
Now you might say well then why didn't He tell you that you
weren't going to need a sermon?
He didn't tell me on purpose.
He purposely didn't tell me.
Couldn't He just as easily told me you're not going to need a
sermon because I'm going to give you gifts of the Spirit when He
said relax?
He could've said that.
Somebody said, "Why didn't He say that?"
Well, you're not God.
And so you need to quit thinking you're some smarty and listen to
what He says because the problem is not you not knowing, the
problem is not trusting.
And that's not a head problem, that's a heart problem.
A heart problem that no amount of information can fix.
God can sit down with you with your scheduler and give you all
kinds of information about the next twenty years of your life
and you would still find something to worry about.
Because it's a heart problem that's not fixed.
Oh, but friend, when we get a hold of this and really start
living by rest and faith and trust, no matter what's going on
you refuse to worry about it.
No matter what has happened or didn't happen or what you
understand or what you don't understand, one thing you don't
do is get upset or be anxious or fearful or full of care about
it.
The answer to every situation is believe God.
No matter what happens, "What are we going to do?"
We're going to believe God.
We're going to be in faith and we'll stay in faith.
We're going to stay in rest.
What does that mean?
It can be so simple, so basic.
What are we going to believe?
We're going to believe that God is going to show us what to do,
He's going to come through for us, our needs are going to be
met, it's going to turn out for our good and His glory.
Somehow, someway.
I don't have to know all the details to be settled in that.
Right?
And I can believe that right now before I learn anything else or
see anything else.
Oh friend, it's possible for our scared, fearful, worried,
anxious, frustrated, mad, hurt days to be over and embark on a
whole new way of life.
Do you believe it?
Glory to God.
He said, "Troubled, but not distressed.
Perplexed, but not in despair.
Persecuted, but not forsaken," not deserted, "cast down, but
not destroyed."
One translation says knocked down but not knocked out.
That's why I said we need to learn how to take a punch from
the outside.
"Yeah, but it hit me...
Yeah, but it surprised me...
Yeah, but it startled me..."
Well so what, that was then, this is now.
"It just caught me so off guard."
That doesn't mean you have to live off guard the rest of your
life.
"What are we going to do?"
Let's do something that's going to help.
Let's trust God.
Verse sixteen, "For which cause we faint not; but though our
outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by
day."
He's talking about outward and inward.
Verse seventeen, "For our light affliction," that word
affliction is the word that means pressure.
Our light pressure.
Somebody says, "Man, you've really been going through it."
No, just light pressure.
The Bible said it's light pressure.
It's all light pressure.
And it's, "But for a moment," momentary light pressure.
With the Greater One inside you, can you deal with momentary
light pressure?
It's just for a moment but it, "Works for us a far more
exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the
things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen:
for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things
which are not seen are eternal."

An Audit of the Contract for the Family Maintenance Enforcement Program - Duration: 3:45.Thanks for joining us.
In this audit we looked at the Ministry of Justice's management of the contract for
the Family Maintenance Enforcement Program, or FMEP.
The FMEP collects and issues payments for child and spousal support.
The ministry first outsourced the program in 1988 to a private sector contractor.
29 years later, the same service provider still holds the contract.
Over the last ten years, government has paid them $160 million to deliver the program.
Our audit looked at the ministry's procurement and management of this contract, and whether
it did so in accordance with government policy and guidance.
We did not look at the quality of service that the program provides.
We found that, with a few exceptions, the ministry complied with government policy.
However, during the most recent procurement in 2006, we found that the ministry's choices
weren't consistent with guidance and good procurement practices.
The procurement didn't achieve competition for the contract.
We also noticed indications of challenges with the contract that should have triggered
stronger ministry oversight.
The Ministry of Justice renewed the original contract with the service provider several
times during the 1990s.
The ministry then opened the contract to new bidders in both 2000 and 2006.
Both times, it directly awarded the contract to the incumbent service provider.
When the contract was most recently up for tender in 2006, we found that the ministry's
procurement choices were not consistent with government guidance and good procurement practices.
The ministry chose a procurement strategy that is designed to identify and pre-qualify
a small number of vendors from a much larger pool, even though it had no evidence that
a large market of potential vendors existed for the contract.
And, in the end, only the incumbent applied.
To encourage competition, the ministry should have done more to ensure a level playing field
for all potential bidders.
Vendors that didn't have the service provider`s knowledge of the program could have seen the
opportunity as risky.
Despite awarding the contract to the same service provider, 10 years later, the ministry
still hasn't been able to negotiate a new contract with them.
During our audit, we also noticed several factors that indicated challenges with the
contract and should have triggered stronger ministry oversight.
These included things like:
1.
The service provider regularly requesting and receiving additional funding to cover
cost pressures 2.
Multiple external assessments of the program that offered recommendations for contract
improvements, most of which are still outstanding 3.
And, a history of procurements failing to achieve competition, resulting in direct awards
to the same service provider who has now had this contract for 29 years
We found evidence of ongoing oversight of the FMEP's program costs.
But, we did not see evidence that ministry executive received complete information about
financial, legal and program delivery risks.
This type of information is essential to effectively perform their oversight responsibilities.
Our audit shows that ministries have to do more than simply follow the requirements of
government's procurement policy.
Although the ministry's procurement choices were within policy, they did not generate
competition, and the design and management of the contract did not mitigate known risks.
We've made five recommendations to the ministry to support improved procurement and contract
management.
Although this audit only focused on one contract, the lessons learned may have broader application.
There is an opportunity for government to consider whether the audit findings may be
relevant to other contracts, and whether additional procurement guidance would help all ministries.
That's our summary for today.
