New Nissan Micra sharpens up for 2017 - Duration: 2:52.
New Nissan Micra sharpens up for 2017
The current Nissan Micra isn't so much off the pace as several laps behind the supermini class leaders. CAR's GBU guide describes it as 'alluring as a dentist's waiting room, and just as noisy.'.
Maybe its 2017 replacement, spied here being benchmarked against a VW Polo in southern Europe, can put Nissan back on the small hatch map? .
Our spies have caught it out on test ahead of its expected debut at the 2016 Paris motor show on 29 September 2016. Looks a bit sharper than the current one….
The Nissan Sway concept, first shown at the 2015 Geneva motor show, was touted as a glimpse of how future small Nissans could look – and there is a hint or two of the Sway's pointy styling in the new car's styling, particularly in the headlight treatment.
It's a longer, lower-looking and altogether less blobby affair than the Micra's current incarnation, too, which is no bad thing. Check out the roof spoiler and hidden rear door handles as well. Sporty. What's the 2017 Nissan Micra made of?.
A blend of Nissan and Renault bits. It will be built around the joint Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform (also earmarked for the next Nissan Juke) and use a range of three- and four-cylinder engines.
The new Nissan Micra is expected to make its first official appearance at the Paris motor show in autumn 2016, before wading into the supermini battleground in 2017 against the old-but-great Ford Fiesta, improving-with-every-update Peugeot 208, the Renault Clio, Suzuki Swift, VW Polo, the upcoming new Seat Ibiza and many, many more.
It's got a bit on its plate. Good job it's already looking like a big step forward from the current model….

Accessibility in the Portal Part 6: Closed Captioning for Videos - Duration: 2:17.
Closed captioning for videos
If you are linking out to videos or uploading videos to your course,
ensure that they are closed captioned or have a transcript of
the content available to users.
When uploading your own video and transcript to the Portal,
ensure that the transcript you provide
has the necessary information describing visual content in the video.
You may wish to point students to additional resources as well as to descriptions
of the media elements contained in your video.
If you are searching in YouTube, you can filter results to closed captioned only by adding
", cc" (comma-space-cc) after the search terms. Keep in mind, however, that sometimes captions
are added via the automatic captioning service and there may be errors in the text.
Watch the clip all the way to the end to ensure that captions are accurate.
So - let's take a minute to recap what we've talked about. There are five simple
and quick ways to make your Portal course more accessible.
1. By adding alternative text for images
2. By crafting meaningful hyperlinks
3. By making judicious use of color
4. By creating structured pages and documents, and
5. By adding closed captioning for videos.
Remember: designing with student accessibility in mind
means planning ahead and building in time for accessibility
during the course design and setup process.
Thanks for watching another installment of our Portal training series. We encourage you to look at the
resources in the video description for more information on web accessibility
and to learn more about how you can leverage the portals features to deliver
a more inclusive learning experience for all your students.

Accessibility in the Portal Part 2: Alternative Text for Images - Duration: 1:31.
Alternative text for images
When adding images you must add alternative text,
often referred to as alt-text or alt-tag. Alt-text is a text that you
associate with the image describing what the images, enabling software programs
to read out the text to users. To add alt-text navigate to the area of the course
where you're uploading the image. In the content editor, select the
"Insert/ edit image" icon. Browse to your computer and select the image.
Type the alt-text of the image in the image description box.
For example, for this image I could add the text "Planet Earth;" however please keep in mind that a
user should be able to understand the contents of the image based solely on
the text. So the more information I add that is relevant to the course, the better.
So I'm going to say "NASA weather satellite image of Planet Earth."
When you're satisfied with the image in the text, select "Submit." Lastly, keep in mind
that some images may require much lengthier descriptions. For example, if
your image consists of a table, infographic or other complex graphic
your alt-text will need to include much more detailed information and likely
longer descriptions of the content

Alien breakthrough as NASA discovers molecules on moon PERFECT for life
The space agency is probing the moon of Titan orbiting Saturn in its hunt for life in our solar system. Researchers have now made stunning new revelations about the frozen world, which is 50% larger than our moon.
Dubbed Earth's "toxic twin", scientists said they have found the chemical acrylonitrile – used to manufacture plastics on Earth. ALIENS: Life could exist on Saturns moon of Titan believes NASA.
They believe under the harsh conditions of Saturn's largest moon, the chemical could form stable, flexible structures similar to cell membranes.
"We found convincing evidence that acrylonitrile is present in Titan's atmosphere, and we think a significant supply of this raw material reaches the surface," said Maureen Palmer, a researcher with the Goddard Center for Astrobiology at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, and lead author of a paper in Science Advances.
SATURN: The ringed planets moons are prime contenders for alien life.
TITAN: Saturns moons surface is covered in chemical lakes. The detections were made using Cassini's plasma spectrometer as it flew through Titan's upper atmosphere, 950–1300 km above the surface.
"We have made the first unambiguous identification of carbon chain anions in a planet-like atmosphere, which we believe are a vital stepping-stone in the production line of growing bigger, and more complex organic molecules, such as the moon's large haze particles," said Ravi Desai of University College London and lead author of the study.
"This is a known process in the interstellar medium, but now we've seen it in a completely different environment, meaning it could represent a universal process for producing complex organic molecules.
"The question is, could it also be happening within other nitrogen-methane atmospheres like at Pluto or Triton, or at exoplanets with similar properties?".
Space experts have long believed Titan is a prime candidate for life and has an atmosphere "consistent" with one supported by methane breathing aliens.
So far, Titan is one of the only objects in space other than Earth to have evidence of surface liquid, which is thought to be vital for sustaining alien life.
The cells of Earth's plants and animals would not hold up well on Titan, where surface temperatures average minus 290 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 179 degrees Celsius), and lakes brim with liquid methane.
The discovery comes as NASA offered an up-close look at the Trappist-1 exoplanets – believed to be key in the hunt for life.
They are also considering launching the Titan Mare Explorer, which would probe the world in a bid to find aliens.
It would take seven years to reach the moon of Saturn and spend six months on the surface looking for proof of life.

Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocket full of rye.
Four and twenty blackbirds,
Baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened,
The birds began to sing,
Wasn't that a dainty dish?
To set before the king?
The king was in his counting house,
Counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlour,
Eating bread and honey.
The maid was in the garden,
Hanging out the clothes,
When down came a blackbird
And pecked off her nose.

He played knick-knack on my thumb
With a knick-knack paddy whack,
Give the dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played two,
He played knick-knack on my shoe
With a knick-knack paddy whack,
Give the dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played three,
He played knick-knack on my knee,
With a knick-knack paddy whack,
Give the dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played four,
He played knick-knack on my door;
With a knick-knack paddy whack,
Give the dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played five,
He played knick-knack on my hive;
With a knick-knack paddy whack,
Give the dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.

The Astronaut and the alien,
Were fighting for the airplane,
The Astronaut beat the alien,
And won the airplane.
Some gave them apples,

Some gave them acorns,

Cock a doodle doo,
My dame has lost her shoe,
My master's lost his fiddlestick,
And knows not what to do.
Cock a doodle do,
What is my dame to do?
Till master's found his fiddling stick,
She'll dance without her shoe.
Cock a doodle doo,
My dame has found her shoe,
And master's found his fiddling stick,
Sing cock a doodle do.
Cock a doodle doo,
My dame will dance with you,
While master fiddles his fiddle stick,
And knows not what to do.
Rainbows in the sky,
Rainbows way up high,
Made up of light,
Shining bright, Red, Orange,
yellow, green, blue,
Indigo and Violet too,
What a pretty sight!
Thank you sunlight!

Miss Polly had a dolly
who was sick, sick, sick,
So she called for the Doctor
To come quick, quick, quick,
The Doctor came
with her bag and her hat,
And she knocked on the door
with a rat-a-tat-tat,
She looked at the dolly and he
shook his head,
And she said, "Miss Polly,
put her straight to bed!"
She wrote on a paper for some
pills, pills, pills,
"I'll be back in the morning with "
the bill, bill, bill.
