Greeting, my friends! I'm Argyris from Heroes For A Day.
You're tuned in to the new Transformers: Armada video
and now the moment you've all been waiting for:
Combiners! Combiners! Combiners!
Alright, we have Jetfire, Optimus Prime and Overload and they're all going to start transforming!
To do it properly, we're going to show them in order of appearance in the episodes.
At first, we'll leave Overload on the side.
Now, to make it easy, I'm not going to convert Optimus back and forth all the time.
I'll leave him like this and I'll put aside the base, because we don't need it for now either.
We'll come to Jetfire, because he's the one who changes the most.
Take off his gun.
Take off his shield.
Collapse the head, collapse the shuttle nose and lift it upwards.
It would be like transforming him half-way back to vehicle.
Rotate the fist in order to line it up better.
See, the back of the palm is flatter.
Now, because Jetfire becomes the legs, I don't care if the back is split.
Slide up the lower legs and rotate the knees like this.
Take the wings, rotate them down,
But don't leave them front.
Place them on the side of the leg, right about there.
Same on the other side.
On the nose, take this panel and slide it down. It just rests there.
And open up the side pieces.
This is the waist of the robot.
Take Optimus, take Jetfire's shield, which has these hinges
that click onto Optimus' torso. And the whole thing pegs on the waist
to form Jet Optimus!
The super form that Optimus used the most in Transformers: Armada
was Jet Optimus or Jet Convoy as he named himself in his debut.
It was probably due to the original Japanese dub.
He was named Jet Convoy originally.
In general, there were some issues in the dubbing from Japanese to English.
It definitely looks better. The legs are separate, even though they lack mobility.
Only the lower part turns and they move a little to the side.
He hasn't got leg articulation like Omega Prime, but he retains arm articulation.
Yet the smokestacks still hinder it.
See it from all sides.
Now, Jet Optimus was Optimus' combined form used the most,
since Jetfire debuted in the series.
It is not the only one though!
He has another one, and to show it, I'm going to split them up again.
Take off Jetfire's weapon, take off Jet Optimus' chestplate,
move Jetfire to the side
and bring back the base, making him Super Optimus Prime again.
Before I make him Super Optimus, I'll remove the smokestacks.
I'm afraid of breaking them and not being able to peg them back.
Now, to peg him back on.
In the series it never happens, but you can join the halves and create a small blaster for Optimus in his normal mode.
Take Overload, remove the head,
clip these pieces back to place
and right here they line up with the legs.
Slide the lower legs sideways, open this panel,
line up the barrel.
Do the same on this side. Slide it, open up the panel,
(the missiles are loose because the spring looks like it's busted)
Now, rotate the thighs upwards and turn them.
Bring down this piece; line up this piece and its ready.
I'll try to show it up close.
Go overhead, line him up a bit and it slides in there.
And this is Magna Cannon Optimus, who uses Overload as shoulder cannons.
(still can't use the missiles)
The first time Optimus used him in cannon mode was in Overload's debut,
where a black version of Optimus Prime was created,
something like Nemesis Prime, whom they were fighting.
Optimus showed Overload without explaining where he came from,
who is he, if he had a personality or if he was a drone.
But we got to see this amazing mode!
Now, what I showed you before, about Overload's gun,
the gun mode that Overload's head has.
You can place it in Optimus' hand; it fits like a glove.
But they haven't actually shown this, so I'll leave it like this to be more show accurate.
And of course he launches powerful blasts from his cannons.
It's not his ultimate final mode, though!
Unfortunately, Magna Cannon Optimus appeared only twice.
At least, these two times he showed us some badassery!
The actual problem was with the ultimate mode.
I'm putting aside Optimus, I'm putting aside the base, I'm bringing back Jetfire,
I'm pegging Optimus on top again, I'm putting on the chestplate
And now I'm connecting Overload on top once again!
Magna Jet Optimus!
The ultimate combining mode. Perhaps it's the only case where Optimus
powerlinks with two robots at the same time!
He had two combiner partners too in the sequel series,
but he didn't link up with them at the same time.
The downside of this form is that he transformed only twice
and he did absolutely nothing with it!
Nothing as in NOTHING!
The first time he transformed, he went on to face Galvatron and did nothing.
The next time he transformed, he went on to face Unicron, along with Galvatron,
and he still did nothing!
No lasers, no battle, no fighting.
He just transformed and that was it! Because reasons… I don't know what they were thinking.
Anyway…
And with this we conclude Optimus Prime's transformations from Transformers: Armada.
Before we wrap up the video, let me give you a 360 view.
My bad; I should have thought of it earlier.
To show you how this figure looks as a whole.
Look at him! He's absolutely massive, he's taller than Omega Prime.
He looks incredible! He has everything; you can do whatever you want with him!
Really beautiful!
But I still have another video for you.
It's not as massive as this one, but still from Transformers: Armada.
Something teeny-tiny, we'll see it next time.
Farewell!
