Prince Philip's huge sacrifice for the Queen REVEALED: Secret of great Royal romance - Duration: 5:17.

Prince Philip's huge sacrifice for the Queen REVEALED: Secret of great Royal romance

The Duke of Edinburgh vowed to act as Queen Elizabeth's "eyes and ears" when he married the soon-to-be-monarch 70 years ago on November 20, 1947.

But Philip had in fact hoped to enjoy a life overseas in high command for the Royal Navy before his royal duties got in the way, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliam.

Speaking ahead of the couple's 70th wedding anniversary later this month, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliam told Express. uk: "Philip would have far preferred a naval career than to be in a supporting role.

"  Prince Philip joined the Navy from school in 1939 aged 18 and went on to serve with distinction in the Mediterranean.

He has managed it with panache and partly because of 'dontopedalogy, which helps him keep sane with so many royal duties Richard Fitzwilliams, royal commentator.

He also saw battle in the Second World War and many royal insiders tipped him to go all the way in the senior service and become its chief or First Sea Lord.

But the Duke resigned as a commander in 1951 when it became clear his father-in-law King George VI was in ill health.

He was formally made a British prince in 1957 by his wife, after he became the Baron Greenwich, Earl of Merioneth and Duke of Edinburgh just before his wedding to the Queen.

Peter Morgan, creator of drama series The Crown told royal central: "Philip, I think, had made the mental calculation that he would enjoy 20 years of married life before this dreadful Crown business would happen.

Indeed, the Prince had to wait until his 90th birthday in 2011 before becoming the titular head of the Royal Navy.

And it was then that the Queen appointed him to the symbolic title of Lord High Admiral, which dates back to the 14th century, as thanks for his lifetime of dedication and in recognition of how he had sacrificed his naval career.

But after the death of his father-in-law, the Duke threw himself into royal life to overome the disappointment of the premature loss of his professional career.  Dynamic and impatient, Philip had a temperament not suited to life in a a secondary role, Mr Fitzwilliams says.   .

But after more than 65 years by the side of his wife Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip certainly made his mark, only retiring at the grand old age of 96 this year.  Mr Fitzwilliams said: "He has managed it with panache and partly because of 'dontopedalogy, which helps him keep sane with so many royal duties.

"Their marriage of 70 years is indeed a remarkable partnership. The Queen is a person of equable temperament, the Duke is far more impatient and dynamic.  "She is conservative by nature and a countrywoman at heart, he is essentially a moderniser."  .

Dontopedalogy is a term coined by Prince Philip, meaning the art of putting one's foot in one's mouth.  The Duke is known for his hilarious quips and in the months leading up to his retirement he was full of jokes, even telling celebrity cook Prue Leith at a Palace event Im discovering what its like to be on your last legs.

Mr Fitzwilliams added: "When the Duke decided to retire it was a personal decision to leave whilst he was able to carry out his duties when he was still at the top of his game.  "He can now choose what he wants to attend.

No one can dispute that he has earned it at 96 after a lifetime of engagements and speeches.  "It it is impossible not to appreciate the scale of his achievements."   .

Two for Book Review | Down the Rabbit Hole & Stolen - Duration: 8:25.

[Music]

Hi, My name is

A-U-D-R-E-I

Audrei and

Welcome to my channel CharisseAudrei. Today, I'm going to

do a

two

for book review and the first book is

Down the Rabbit Hole by Holly Madison this book is about

335 pages and it's a memoir. Holly used to be

Mr.. Hefner's

girlfriend the founder of Playboy and

she used to be and

the show Three Girls Next Door on E! I used to watch that show all the time.

I love

my favorite one was Kendra, and I read Kendra's memoir the second one last year and

I really wanted to get to

this one to see what it's all about because

Kendra and Holly have a little beef about it.

So I wanted to read it for myself and know more about Holly.

In the show you could tell that she was somewhat in a daze and loved Hef. I

Didn't know the backstories and reading this book I've learned a lot about

what went on in the Playboy Mansion.

When I was reading it it felt like, it felt like she wanted to be the "good girl",

and I know there's different sides to every story.

But when I was reading in this I felt like

Mr.. Hefner was

always being used by all these women to get at the top and

It felt like he didn't know who to trust, So

when it came to him and Holly's relationship it really is stuck out

the most and gave it really strained their relationship. The one thing about Holly a story is that she chose

to live at the Playboy Mansion and at anytime she could have

walked out and

left but she didn't. she talks about the Mean Girls

And how she dealt with them. It's a mansion full of girls

so I would think that it would be drama in the house,

But I am happy that she moved away from that

now, I like how Holly changed her last name to protect her family from

all the exposure, that bad things that Fame could do to a family she learned and became a

playmate editor

Playboy, and she really enjoyed the job. I like how she

found

something that she really liked to do at the Playboy. and

what Hef had an investigation to break down this an escort ring

out of the mansion, I mean you would figured that would happen, but it did and I'm happy that they

buckled down. Holly had been for been at that Playboy Mansion for a lot of years, and I'm happy that she

stepped out of that and

branch into her own thing. And I had one question for her, Why didn't she change

her hair to her original hair color then blonde? two: I wanted to

See like a reading less of books that she likes because she said that she enjoyed reading, and I would love to

have seen

that I rated this book a three stars

and I really wanted to continue on with her second memoir and see

If I get to know her a little bit more because this book was mainly

focusing on

her going down the rabbit hole of living in the Playboy Mansion and

Trying to get out of it. The second book I'm going to talk about is

Stolen. Is a YA.

299 pages. If you like "You".

You're gonna like this, but "You" is in the perspective of

the stalker talking to you, but this is in the perspective of the

victim and

on the back it says" written as a letter from a

Victim to her capture" it doesn't have any chapters because it's a letter.

And so if you're

someone like me that likes to look to see how many pages until the chapter is left. You're not gonna get that.

They do have in the book little little dents. Like this and that's how I stopped when I got to a certain point that

I wanted to pause. Gemma was

kidnapped from an airport and

we see throughout the book that

this guy Ty has been planning this for years and

been following her for years. In this book has some animal cruelty in it

some sorts, so if you're a little cringy about that then there's a warning for you.

There was a scene in here that just made me it

it was a little disgusting but

It happened in the book. What I like about the character of Gemma is that as soon as she realized that she was kidnapped that

she

needed to always think and to escape and to never stop

And if she knew if she stopped planning to try to escape that she would never

escape. She's really motivated and

escaping

and getting out. If you don't like snakes scene in here with snakes some of you don't like snakes

there's a warning. For the cover. I don't think this is a butterfly

I think as a moth

Because some moths can look like butterflies, and I searched up the spiritual meaning of moth. It says:

"Receiving good news and healing and seeing positive in

any situation" and I think once she once you see the moth scene

things change in the story, and I like how I as a reader

Because I'm very spiritual. Once I searched that up. I saw how the story started changing,

Changing for the better for Gemma. The word that people

call this book that she gets kidnapped and she gets Stockholm Syndrome and

That is one reasons why she wrote him a letter.

Getting everything out on a paper and learning to let go I like how that message of the book .I

Rated this a four stars. I just felt like there was something missing, but yet again. I know it was a letter

to the capture from

Gemma and it's her story and what she wants to say and what she

Wants to tell her capture

So both the books. I read it was great Down the Rabbit Hole. I read it in November for a Nonfiction November.

I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to walk read Holly Madison second memoir. For Lucy Christopher I

Want to read up on more of her

books because I really enjoyed this and I think you guys will enjoy this too. I think it's good for a read-a-thon.

That is it for my two for a book review.

I hope you guys have a nice day and keep reading.

I hope you guys like and subscribe and follow

Me on all my social medias because I'm active on there and I'll see you guys later. Bye.

World War 3: Taiwan 'ready for WAR' with China after quick military response to threats - Duration: 5:49.

World War 3: Taiwan 'ready for WAR' with China after quick military response to threats

GETTY.

On Monday, Chinese jets carried out island encirclement patrols around Taiwan, with state media showing pictures of bombers armed with cruise missiles.

Taiwan presidential spokesman Alex Huang said the defence ministry kept a close watch on the patrols and responded immediately and properly. Mr Huang said: "Taiwan can ensure there are no concerns at all about national security, and people can rest assured.

Such a raised military posture that may impact upon and harm regional peace and stability and cross-strait ties does not give a feeling of responsibility, and the international community does not look favourably upon this.".

He added that both sides of the narrow Taiwan Strait, which separates Taiwan from its giant neighbour, have a responsibility to protect peace and stability. Taiwan denounced the rise in Chinas military deployments as irresponsible.

China considers self-ruled and democratic Taiwan to be its sacred territory and has never renounced the use of force to bring what it views as a wayward province under Chinese control.

Relations have soured considerably since Tsai Ing-wen, who leads Taiwans independence-leaning Democratic Progressive Party, won presidential elections last year.

China suspects Tsai wants to declare the islands formal independence, a red line for Beijing. Tsai says she wants to maintain peace with China but will defend Taiwans security.

Taiwan is well equipped with mostly US weapons but has been pressing for more advanced equipment to deal with what it sees as rising threat from China.

Although the United States has no formal ties with Taiwan it is bound by law to help it defend itself and is its main source of arms.

On Tuesday US President Donald Trump signed into law the National Defence Authorisation Act for the 2018 fiscal year, which authorises the possibility of mutual visits by navy vessels between Taiwan and the United States.

Such visits would be the first since the United States ended formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan in 1979 and established ties with Beijing.

It comes after a senior Chinese diplomat threatened to invade Taiwan if the state tries to gain independence or if a US warship visits the island.

Diplomat Li Kexin said at a Chinese embassy event in Washington on Friday that China would activate its Anti-Secession Law if the US sent navy ships to Taiwan.

According to Chinese media, Li said: "The day that a US Navy vessel arrives in Kaohsiung is the day that our People's Liberation Army unifies Taiwan with military force.".

The Anti-Secession law allows it to use force on Taiwan if deemed necessary to prevent the island from gaining independence.

Influential Chinese tabloid the Global Times, published by the ruling Communist Party's official People's Daily, said China would never back down over Taiwan.

In an editorial, the paper said: "The Chinese mainland has never given up the option of Taiwan reunification by force, which is clear to people across the Taiwan Strait.

"Li's words have sent a warning to Taiwan and drew a clear red line.

If Taiwan attempts to hold an independence referendum or other activities in pursuit of de jure 'Taiwan independence', the PLA will undoubtedly take action." Earlier this year, the US issued a stark warning that it would not accept China's militarisation of man-made islands in the South China Sea.

Chinas territorial claims in the South China Sea – through which about £3.9trillion in ship-borne trade passes each year – are contested by Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.
