When is the Queen and Prince Philip's wedding anniversary? After tying the knot in Westminster Abbey back in 1947, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip will celebrate 70 years of marriage this month.

The celebration falls on November 20 and will mark the royal couple's platinum wedding anniversary - a milestone not reached by any other British monarch.

Despite its unprecedented nature, the occasion is expected to be a low-key affair, with the couple choosing to host a small dinner party for their closest friends and family. .

A royal source said: "Any celebration will be a private, family affair.

There will be no public event."  A friend of the royal couple told the Daily Mail, after losing so many loved-ones in recent years, they cannot face celebrating the milestone publicly.

The friend said: "They feel they can't top the golden and diamond wedding anniversaries and don't particularly want to.

"They also don't want to be reminded of the many missing faces, as over the past 12 months the Queen has lost two life-long friends, Elizabeth Longman and her cousin Margaret Rhodes, as well as Prince Philip's cousin Countess Mountbatten.".

These will include a set of double-headed platinum coins, a new biography of the couple, and a charity single to raise money for one of their organisations.

  Following her decision not to celebrate the anniversary publicly, Queen Elizabeth will not lead the nation in honouring Britain's war dead at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.

  She will instead join her husband on the Foreign Office balcony, while next in line to the throne Prince Charles lays a wreath on her behalf.

The Queen is Britain's longest-serving monarch and Prince Philip, who retired from public duties earlier this year, has stood steadfastly at her side throughout her reign.  On their golden wedding anniversary in 1997, the Queen paid tribute to her Philip.

She said: He has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years. And Philip is more than happy to support his wife. He once said: "My job first, second and last is never to let the Queen down."  .

She believes that social media and that internet in general break down the walls between culture, languages, and people, bringing them all together.

She explained how K-Pop breaking into the mainstream music scene in America is something that needs to be celebrated.

"…I feel like, with everything that's gone on this year and also with groups like K-pop groups performing on American award shows and making their way into the mainstream American industry, I just feel like there's a lot of just breaking barriers.
