As a Celtics fan, I was so disappointed when I find out that we traded number one pic to
Philly.
I mean wtf man, what is wrong with dany angde?
Markel Fultz was so hyped at that time, and I didnt realize what Dany Age want to accomplish
with trading no.1 pick.
We waited years for this to happen, and now we letting go, that cant be a smart move,
right?
Next day, I saw a Facebook post from Paup Pierce saying: "When I'm watching him, he
looks like a mature version of my game, like sixth, seventh, eighth year.
He sees the defense.
He knows what's going to happen before it happens.
He understands his position, footwork, his step-back (jumper) is there.
His offensive repertoire seems complete.
The sky is the limit for that kid."
Well if Paul Pierce saying this, that must be true right.
I mean he is already the truth, right?
I watched every Celtics game in summer league and I was impressed.
Jason definitely has future, but no one expected to get soo many minutes on the floor.
We all know how Celtics start this season, with losing their best investments since big
3, a big disappointment and many what happen faces.
Now, when Gordon is gone for the whole season, Boston must trust their prospect.
In that game, Jason recorded a double double.
The other rookie who does that in Celtics history was no one else than Lary Bird.
And this is not a coincidence.
Tatum now has played 28 games, and I will do stats comparison with other 2 big Celtics,
a Paul Pierce and Larry Bird.
Lary in his first season recorded 21.3 points per game, with 47%s shooting and 40% shooting
behind 3 point line.
Additional he recorded 4.5 assist, 10 rebounds, and 3,2 turnovers in 36 minutes per game.
Pretty impressive numbers for a rookie.
Paul pierce numbers are 16.5 points per game, with 44% shooting and 41% behind 3 point line.
Additionally, he recorded 2.4 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.4 turnovers in 34 minutes
per game.
Jason numbers are very close to pierce numbers.
In 28 games he scored 14 points per game, 5.5 rebound and 1.4 assists in 30 minutes
per game.
The real difference here is shot selection, he shot extremely well with 50%, and 52% behind
3 point lane.
In fact, he leading the whole league in field goal 3 point percentage.
He shooting better than Klay Tomson.
His stats are very promising.
No surprise why Paul Pierce compared Jason with him.
Only stats when he lacking is assists per game, but Boston has other guys for that job.
If I compared Jason with Markel Fults and Lonzo ball, first and second pick in NBA draft,
Jason will look like an absolute beast behind those 2 guys.
Apparently, Markele is injured, he only played 4 games and he recorded 6 points per game
with 33% shooting, 50% from free throw line and he didnt make a single 3 point shot.
Lonzo on the other side is completely fine, but thanks to his dad, he had a hard time
with any defensive guards in the league.
He average 8 points per game, with 31% shooting, 50% from free throw line and 25% behind 3
point line.
Only bright side in his game assists, he average 7 assist per game.
So basically he is a very similar player to Rondo, and a player like Rondo in today NBA
are big no, no.
Jason has everything that these players didnt have, and that is mid-range game, 3 point
shooting, free throw shooting, he can play isolation, he can use height advantage and
overall he has better offensive vision.
For now, the only thing that Jason is lacking is defense, but still, he is a decent defender
and he playing in the best defensive team in NBA, so he can easy improved this aspect
of his game.
Jason playing very smart, he choosing his shout very wisely and that is a reason why
he shoots are very good.
He never bullies the ball like some players do.
Many fans are little worried what will happen with Jason when Gordon will be back.
Im not worried.
Here is why.
Jason can play in 3 positions, shooting guard, small forward and big forward.
The last position is when I see him on Celtics roster.
He already has a hight and he only needs a muscles.
He is already very good in rebounding and he shooting extremely well.
Imagine a roster with Kyrie on point guard, Jallen brown on shooting guard, Gordon Hayward
on small forward, Jason Tatum on power forward and Horford like a center.
I giving this roster best chances to compete with Golden State Warriors because they can
do everything.
Every single player on this roster is very good 3point shooter, good defender, can attack
the basket and can rebound.
That Celtic need to compete with golden state warriors, and Im sure Jason will have a
big part in that deal.
