Waching daily Dec 12 2017

What's up guys, Frazier here for Complex News and we're ending the year on a very

strong new development: Atlanta season 2 is WRAPPED.

When season 1 ended its magnificent run last fall it was bittersweet, because it also signaled

the beginning of a prolonged hiatus since Donald Glover is busy taking over the world.

Indeed, season 2 didn't start filming until this past September.

And yet, production is already complete on season 2, as many of the cast and crew confirmed

in a dope IG shot over the weekend.

Now the only question is, when are we getting it?

Well, it seems one of the insiders may have let the date slip.

LaKeith Stanfield, who of course routinely steals the show as spaced-out sidekick Darius,

also included Feb 2018 in his initial caption.

That kind of turnaround is usually unheard of but, in tandem with Black Panther dropping

in FEB, it'd set us up for the illest Black History Month ever.

But then Lakeith changed his caption.

And changed it again.

And again.

It went from Feb to April to December and, the last time I checked, Jan 2019.

Anyone who follows Lakeith on social knows he's an accomplished troll who routinely

satirizes the banality of daily Hollywood media coverage.

My guess on what happened here: he wasn't supposed to let the date fly but instead of

copping a plea he just trolled us all with new dates to expose how thirsty for info we

all are.

So which date was real?

Granted, Atlanta isn't Game of Thrones...it doesn't require heavy post-production.

But still wrapping in December to meet a February date seems very fast by normal TV standards.

FX would barely have a month to promote it.

April seems much more realistic.

But as I mentioned, premiering in Black History Month would be a power move.

It's quite possible the Glover brothers have their editors working OT to get the early

eps squared away.

And the show's been bodying awards and still going strong in word of mouth.

Maybe FX isn't worried about traditional marketing.

Anyway, the takeaway here is new ATLANTA very soon.

Definitely sooner than I expected.

Next to nothing is known about the season but Glover teased they're not about to give

us more of the same shit.

"I don't want to go into season 2 [with the mindset of], 'Enough people liked it so

just keep those people.'

Because then you begin to give your audience a methadone drip of bullshit that keeps them

happy as opposed to, 'We did something controversial and more people were interested.'"

And Lakeith told me we should definitely expect the new scripts to incorporate the country's

current climate and other topical cultural events in an organic way.

Hopefully we'll get more concrete news soon.

James Franco is brilliantly funny in The Disaster Artist

Weve got an exclusive look at The Disaster Artist - James Francos film about the worst movie ever made.

The Room was an utterly terrible film that has gone down in history for all the wrong reasons.

The movie is out in selected cinemas in the UK today and nationwide on Wednesday.

Franco, who also directs, has transformed the tragicomic true-story of aspiring filmmaker and infamous Hollywood outsider Tommy Wiseau into a celebration of friendship, artistic expression, and dreams pursued against insurmountable odds.

James Franco is Tommy Wiseau.

Based on Greg Sestero's best-selling tell-all about the making of Tommy's cult-classic "disasterpiece" The Room ("The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made"), The Disaster Artist is a hilarious and welcome reminder that there is more than one way to become a legend—and no limit to what you can achieve when you have absolutely no idea what you're doing.

The Disaster Artist tells the story of the worst movie ever.

Directed by James Franco, The Disaster Artist stars Dave Franco as Greg Sestero, James Franco as Tommy Wiseau, Seth Rogen as Sandy Schklair, Alison Brie as Amber, Ari Graynor as Juliette Danielle, Josh Hutcherson as Philip Haldiman and Academy Award nominee Jacki Weaver as Carolyn Minnott.

The screenplay was written by Scott Neustadter & Michael H.

Weber based on the book The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside the Room, The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made by Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell.
