Your name is Daniel Sturridge and you were once part of the most feared attacking trident
in the Premier League, but not anymore.
You've always had bags of talent and that's why Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool
have all had you on their books – but times are changing, along with your importance to
the team.
Because the mighty always fall, but nobody thought Sturridge would fall this much.
Nevermind second choice, the striker is now fourth choice.
A youngster with no Premier League goals and a once-promising-but-injury-prone attacker
who hasn't played a league game all season are chosen ahead of you for one of the most
important games of the season.
What do you start thinking?
Sturridge has been injury prone, but not this season.
He's also scored goals when given the chance, but those are few and far between under manager
Jurgen Klopp.
But he's also 28-years-old and needs first team football if he is going to make the World
Cup squad.
And so this fourth choice attacker, who has 64 goals in 133 Liverpool games, must leave
the club in the January transfer window.
It's been looking increasingly likely over the past few months, but the Sunday snub just
confirms what we already knew.
There will be plenty of sides who are willing to take a punt on a man with just 431 minutes
of league football, spread across nine appearances, this season.
In the January silly season, Liverpool could probably get a good price for him too.
It's a sad way to end a career that had so much promise and sparkle, but Sturridge
will always be remembered for that season.
