Umu: Wait is that right (Nope XD)

Hugo: Are you looking at the same word we're looking at

Hugo: Oh AKMU, AKMU, Got it Umu: Oh Akdong

Hugo: I was like that doesn't look, I mean I know I don't know this language but

Umu: I believe it's Akdong Musicians

Hugo: Akdong Musicians

*Ash explaining pronunciation*

Gwen: Ok well I'm gonna just say AKMU

*Rossini's Semiramide Overture plays*

Gwen: Some mathematicians say that 200% is mathematically impossible

Umu: So this is AKMU

This is Kevin's favorite group because he's heard one song

Kevin: Two

Kevin: Or three Umu: Two, wait which ones

Kevin: I forget

Umu: Re-bye

Kevin: I don't remember songs

Umu: Have you seen how people move

Kevin: That sounds familiar

Umu: This is brother and sister

Hugo: Oh Gwen: Aaaww

Umu: They became a kpop group by auditioning at show Gwen: We're really close enough we could be a kpop group

Umu: Ok I think it was a show called kpop star it's kinda like the voice. So if you win that you get taken up by that company

Umu: Ok so the brother does all of the-

Yunyi: Omg what the-

Umu: the brother is the one who composes the music, who produces the music

Kevin: Thanks mom

Hugo: It's one of their first ones? Umu: Yup

Yunyi: Kevin get your life together man

Gwen: Three

Hugo: Woah woah Woah woah Woah woah Woah woah Woah woah Woah woah Woah woah

Gwen: Three

Wait you get to say it

Fiona: Five Henry: Four

Hugo: *very extra* Three, Two, One

Yunyi: What a nice color palette

Gwen: Tag yourself I'm the chair

Gwen: Aw a heart

Gwen: Oh she's adorable

Lindsey: Oh she's cute

Davis: Oh I already like the music

Like it just started and I already like it

Davis: guitar is nice Lindsey: It's like mammals vibes

Davis: Yeah dude

Davis: This beat is so good

Hugo: Cowbell Gwen: Aren't they-

Davis: I like that gun sounds when he said soldier

Shimon: Oh baseball (Shimon did you not see the cake)

Hugo: No cuz those are the actors Umu: brother and sister

Hugo: The other two are- Umu: Actors

Davis: Oh yeah

Lindsey: I'm so into this

Davis: Oh yeah

This music is really good like Lindsey: yeah

Gwen: She has such a pretty voice

Hugo: Yeah I really like her voice

Lindsey: I agree it is very simple, but it just works. It just sounds so good

Henry: She has a really American accent

Gwen: Dat head voice doe

Davis: that's some nice horn samples there

Shimon: This is a Korean group?

Hugo: I feel like the brother is my spirit animal

Yunyi: I think that's like the typical bouncy, happy go-lucky vibe Kevin: (Best vibes?)

it's just like...like major 7ths

Davis: that is really a nice subtle use of the horns

It just fits into it so nice like you just glide along and listen to this omg

Gwen: Waah

Davis: Yeah, it's cool Lindsey: I like everything about this because it's just very simple especially in comparison to everything else that we've ever watched

Lindsey: It's very, very lighthearted

Davis: Yeah no, but it's almost kinda quirky you know Lindsey: Yeah

Fiona: I like their harmonies a lot. It's really simple in a way compared to other kpop

Henry: This is like aesthetically so pleasing and the music is so good. It's just a bunch of seventh chords

Hugo: I don't understand

Lindsey: Omg haha Davis: What is she- XD

Yunyi: I like how they just put sporadic

Gwen: Ha they're so far apart

Yunyi: scatting in there

I'm not a jazz major

Both: Aaawww

Umu: What do you think of her voice

Hugo: That bus driver doe Gwen That bus driver says f*** that

Shimon: Really good

Henry: I love the brother

I like them both

Yunyi: Oh nice harmonization Kevin: Mhm

Fiona: She is precious

Yunyi: It's like playing with the vocalizations and the rap. That's really great

Leah: They should slam their ice cream in each other's face

Henry: I love him, I love his whole vibe

Fiona: I love her voice it's so clear, such a clear quality too Henry: Her shirt just says liberals all over it

Hugo: Oh she's got a really good voice

Gwen: Yeah I'm in love with her, i'm in love with both of them

Gwen: Oh sh*t Hugo: Ooh f*** girl get it

Fiona: Oh, she's-

Yunyi: There hasn't been a fixed melody right?

Lindsey: Woah!

Yunyi: They've just been kind of like singing

Both: *heavy gasp* (I feel you guys)

Yunyi: On top of the bass line

Fiona: Aw Henry: *gasp*

Hugo: Ohh No

Kevin: I like that effect. But Yunyi: Noo!

Yunyi: That's so upsetting

Yunyi: Aaww

But yeah that is so witty but

Fiona: Wow

Yunyi: That's so sad

Davis: See look at that, she's sitting by herself

Yunyi: Get out of here

Yunyi: you ain't cute enough *referring to the other girl*

Leah: Well that's kinda sad

Yunyi: You don't got the cheeks

Henry: Omg what

That was so sad

Kevin: What? That's it Yunyi: Aw what

Fiona: Ok I kinda wanna cry, that's relateable

Hugo: Why are you emotionally wrecking us ughh (don't let them watch kdramas then)

Umu: HAHAHHAHAHA

Gwen: Well we just got an ad to travel to Korea

Hugo: I mean I, Please I will do it

Davis: That music was so good

Umu: But what I love about their music is becuase there's only two of them

Umu: You can hear the harmonies so well Shimon: That's is true

Shimon: Because all the other ones are like 20, or 16 or 17

Hugo: What I really liked about it, it was super

Hugo: First of all her voice was hella dope Gwen: Oh it was beautiful

gwen: #clarity hugo: like ohmyogd

Hugo: Yeah no she's got vibrancy without being Wuugh

She's got that delicate thing, you can still hear it and it's resonate and her head voice game is so f***ing strong

When she did that riff up in the head part I was like ooh

Gwen: I said ooh

Hugo: And it's not like he can't sing either like he's also super, they did that harmonizing thing and that was just like ooh

Umu: I'm arranging a song for people to do a cover of a later song of theirs (Melted) and his arranging the harmonies that he writes- yeah Hugo: Can I?

Hugo: Can I please Gwen: Like who's singing

Gwen: I mean neither of us are as good as them haha

Hugo: and I am terrible at rapping but

Davis: Like 10/10, 11/10

Umu: It gets better

Davis: It was a really good use of percussion and all of the sampling was just really really nice

Very tasteful, very tasteful

Hugo: I really liked his rapping because it was kinda tinkering with the whole sing-songy rapping

I really enjoyed hearing his melodic line too because it wasn't just on one note the whole time, it did actually move around a little bit

and it followed the instrumentals in the background too

Gwen: It was like how you would if you're singing musical theater

Gwen: How you would start that Hugo: It fit into the song

Gwen: Yeah it was nice. I was into it I was super into it Hugo: Which is what I liked, it really fit into the song

Hugo: It was good

Yunyi: I mean It shows of their inventiveness because what they did was they just sang over a bass line and there wasn't like a

at least I didn't hear a standard hook chorus

I mean there kinda was but they took some tropes in there but mostly they were singing over it

So they didn't have like the definitive tune but i really appreciated that

Because it kept things really interesting and it just kept things really lighthearted

Ash: The next song that we're gonna listen to is the sequel to this music video

Fiona: Ok thank goodness because I can't Ash: Yeah

Yunyi: But first- Umu: The story line continues

Yunyi: But first we react to Olive Garden

Fiona: wait what if we did it in harmony

We'll just do one in harmony (Um i have a feeling of deja vu here)

You'll go one and I'll go one (I'm not kidding guys)

5, 4, 3, 2

Both: One

Fiona: Dangit Henry: We're musicians

Henry: I promise Fiona: I'm a music major

Henry: I was just looking at you very confused like

Shimon: *reads text on train* Tex-as

Keivn: Oh, oh familiar motifs

Gwen: Yeah do they have a thing with paper cranes *gasp* are they getting married

*excited Hugo*

henry: oh no it's not

Fiona: Wait who's that dude

Davis: What haha just out of nowhere Lindsey: What Hahaha

Davis: That was really funny

Fioan: What

Henry: I'm so confused Fiona: I- ok

henry: she's sleeping with leeks! xD

Lindsey: Omg he's adorable I love the brother

Kevin: don't abuse the- what haha

Davis: What is he- Lindsey: His dancing reminds me of Hugo

Umu: HHAHAHA

Kevin: They're clearly more comfortable with being in video

I can tell

They're like more expressive

Yunyi: I'm sorry I've definitely heard this song before and I'm 90% sure it was at a Korean supernarket (you should be 200% sure :D)

Kevin: I think I've heard the audio but I thought it was a bit more conventional compared to their other stuff

Lindsey: Good thing we go to music school and don't have to worry about math ever again

Davis: Dude i'm just waiting for the quadratic formula

Lindsey: Yeah me too

Kevin: A and B

Kevin: C- Oh Yunyi: Oh is she the hypotenuse (So much math. Why)

hugo: why is itah why is it...algebra xD

Gwen: The Pythagorean theorem

Kevin: Woah

Hugo: ooh get it boy spit those lyrics

Henry: Trying to mathematically figure out how to make someone fall in love with you

Hugo: Oh god I love her voice so much

Gwen: Oh he was about to miss that layup Hugo: He really was about to miss that layup

Yunyi: Oh I'm gonna listen to this whenever I feel sad

Kevin: How tall is the guy. Because he looks, because of how light he is he looks like he's 6'8

Umu: I will look this up for you (She thought he meant the brother)

Kevin: Ok

Gwen: It's a little creepy that she's just following him around though I'm gonna be honest

Henry: I love this

Leah: No but it's at like a general we should- Shimon: No they are filming in Japan I knew it I knew it

Yunyi: This is like

Shimon: I knew it, I knew it

Yunyi: My favorite rapping

umu: wait are they japanese?

Yunyi: Out of all the stuff we've seen so far

Shimon: I don't think they're Japanese, but they're filming in Japan

Yunyi: The dude rapping is so good

Shimon: Because the bus

and then the vending ma- like everything about it I was like that just looks so familiar

Yunyi: it just does it they're delivering such a great song

Shimon: I knew it

Kevin: It's got some tone-

Leah: hah Shimon: See those birds (omg XD)

Shimon: They're Japanese birds (I can't) Ash: XDXD

Kevin: Some pitches sort of Yunyi: Yeah like the vocalizations Both: yeah

Umu: *dying*

Henry: I know someone who looks stupid similar to the girl in this video

leah: she just took a picture of him xDD

Fiona: They're so good

Hugo: Oh Oh Gwen: Omg She did it back

Shimon: See that's Japanese, it says drink menu

Gwen: Oh she's flirtin

Fiona: Plus, times

Both: Divided by

*Proud high five*

David: Not, does not equal two

Leah: I love giraffes!!

Shimon: That's a Japanese giraffe (I'm so done)

Fiona: Did you know giraffes tongues are Both: Purple

Henry: Yes I fed giraffes before

Kevin: Is he a player

Yunyi: where's that meme of the woman(isnt it a guy) with the calculus symbol surrounding her

Yunyi: Me trying to figure out this video Kevin: Oh no I don't understand the Korean

Kevin: I bet that was-

Fiona: haha yeah

Aw they're bonding

Shimon: Oh

Henry: They're fighting

Yunyi: Oh it's Shrek

Umu: What XD

Kevin: What

Fiona: Oh wait

I'm confused

Yunyi: you know that one scene in Shrek where Shrek pushes Fiona and they push each other back

Fiona: Did she steal

Fiona: Wait Henry: Did she do it

Davis:What is he doing Lindsey: HAHAHA

Lindsey: He's like

Kevin: Man, so post modern

Yunyi: Hahaha

Kevin: Post modern love triangle

Shimon: That was cute

shimon: that's solid!

Hugo: I do like this song Gwen: I love both of them but this one is very chill and the other one is just like, my heart

Hugo: Although I will say, he was spittin some rhymes in this one. He was like really *snapsnap*

Shimon: I love the scenery (Because it's Japan) Leah: It's just really cute

Leah: and when they're walking across- Umu: Gee I wonder why Shimon: XDXD

Leah: and when they walk- Shimon: I wanna go back (to Japan)

Leah: The bridge is really cute. It's like a really cute, happy innocent music video you know

Lindsey: I enjoyed them both Davis: I'm so invested. I enjoyed them both. I like the music in their first one hands down, more Umu: Ok

Yunyi: They're like a breath of spring air

Kevin: In this cold cold cold Yunyi: Yeah it's so cold, and so dark here

Yunyi: Like both the Rochester climate and the political climate Kevin: and my heart (guys that made me laugh too hard XDXD)

Yunyi: This is, this is really nice

Brand Elements - What Do I Need For A Strong Brand - Duration: 4:56.

you may have heard of the phrase brand

elements before but you're not quite

sure what that means. when you hear the

word "elements" you shudder with

flashbacks of having to memorize the

dreaded periodic table in your high

school chemistry class.

well, don't worry because brand

elements are way less stress inducing!

keep watching because in this video I'll

be talking all about brand elements and

what you need for strong brand. (intro music)

hey there! I'm Holly Meyer, brand designer

and creative director behind Holly Meyer

Design. on this channel I share brand

tips and tutorials that empower online

business owners like yourself to define,

design and develop their brand so they can

captivate their dream audience and stand

out in their industry. so what are the

elements you need for a strong brand? I'm

going to break it down into the top six

brand elements. the first element is a

memorable brand name. it can be your

personal name, it can be a made-up name

or a name that relates specifically to

what you do. whatever your brand name is

make sure that it's easy to pronounce,

easy to spell, and that it's concise. the

second element is brand personality. in

order to set yourself apart from other

brands in your industry, you need to

bring personality into your own brand.

people buy from people and people also

by with their emotions. when your

personality draws in your audience and

they feel more connected with you, they

are more likely to buy from you over the

other brands in your industry that they

don't feel as connected with. the third

brand element is an attractive logo.

having an aesthetically pleasing logo is

the best way to immediately build trust

with your audience. think about when

you're buying groceries. you're more

likely to stop at a grocery store that

you actually trust. you're probably not

going to go to your small-town grocery

store that has dim lighting, cracked

linoleum floors and flies swarming all

around your head.

given a choice you're most likely going

to go to a place like Whole Foods

Trader Joe's or Kroger because

there's no doubt in your mind that these

stories are clean, they're bright and they

have a pleasant environment.

likewise, your audience is going to trust

you more when you have a polished and

professional visual logo as opposed to

one that looks amateur or something

that a hobbyist put together. the fourth

brand element is a good use of colors.

the same deal as a number three, your color

palette needs to be aesthetically

pleasing.

that means no harsh colors on the eyes

and make sure that all of your colors

actually go well together. you can use

two different dominant colors in your

brand with a couple of accent colors if

needed, but the more concise your color palette

the stronger it will be for your

brand. this fifth brand element is appropriate

typography. you want to make sure

that your brand typography reflects your

brand personality. if your

personality is bold and fun than the

more classic and traditional fonts aren't

going to reflect that in your brand

visuals and vice versa. make sure

that you don't use more than two or

three different font styles otherwise

your brand will look chaotic and

unorganized. and the goal here is to have

a refined and professional brand! the

final brand element is cohesive supporting

graphics. the more cohesive your brand

visuals are the stronger your brand will

be. this means that no matter what

content you create whether its web

graphics or social media graphics or

marketing materials, you need to continue

using the brand elements we just went over

like a good use of colors, appropriate

typography and so on and so forth. that

covers it for the top elements that make

up a strong visual brand! to recap, that

was a memorable brand name, brand

personality, an attractive logo, a good use

of color, appropriate typography and

cohesive supporting graphics. now I want

to hear from you! do you have anymore

questions about brand elements? leave

Independent counsel files for 30-day investigative extension - Duration: 2:10.

Turning to the massive corruption scandal in Korea...

The independent counsel requested a 30-day-extension for its investigation, saying it needs more

time to untangle the threads of the case.

Meanwhile, the fate of Samsung Group heir apparent Lee Jae-yong is hanging in the balance

as a court hears arguments on whether he should be arrested.

Hwang Hojun has the latest.

The independent counsel spokesperson said Thursday that the team has filed for a 30-day

extension of its original 90-day investigative mandate.

By law, the request for an extension must be made at least three days prior to the deadline

but can also be made earlier.

It will now be up to Hwang Kyo-ahn, the prime minister and the acting president, to decide

whether to grant the one-time extension.

"Unlike previous investigations, this one has so many more people and branches.

it won't be possible to complete the investigation by the 28th, and the acting president will

need time to review the request before making any decisions."

Shortly after the spokesperson had finished the briefing, the team came up against another

obstacle, after the Seoul Administrative Court rejected its request to override the presidential

office and let it search the premises.

The decision makes it impossible to force a search on the presidential office.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Central District Court is deliberating over whether to grant the

team's request for a second warrant to arrest Lee Jae-yong, the heir apparent of Samsung

Group

"Regarding the request for a second arrest warrant, I'm just going to say the independent

counsel has made sufficient preparations in advance."

In filing for the warrant on Tuesday, the counsel expanded the charges against Lee to

include diverting assets overseas and concealing the gains from a criminal act.

That's on top of the original charges of bribery, embezzlement and perjury the team filed against

Lee with its first arrest warrant request that was rejected last month.

"The fate of the Samsung chief -- whether he will return home as a free man or be forced

to remain in detention -- is expected to be decided on Thursday night or early Friday

morning.

Hwang Hojun, Arirang News."

Gov't lays out regulatory reforms to boost AI, VR and fintech sectors - Duration: 2:54.

The Korean government has laid out a set of regulatory reforms for the artificial intelligence,

virtual reality and fintech sectors.

The government is hoping this will create fresh growth momentum by encouraging businesses

to make full use of the new technologies.

Oh Jung-hee has the details.

The Korean government is easing regulations... to foster artificial intelligence as a new

growth engine for the country... and boost the related industries of virtual reality

and fintech.

Acting president Hwang Kyo-ahn endorsed the plans at a related ministers' meeting on Thursday.

"No matter how successful the research and development of cutting edge technologies,

it will be useless if the goods and services that use the technologies are blocked by regulations.

So it is essential to reform the related regulations to promote the commercialization of new technologies

and creative ideas and secure new growth engines for the future."

To that end, the Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning aims to formulate new

legal frameworks... to actively and safely use artificial intelligence.

The legal frameworks will seek to minimize errors caused by artificial intelligence...

and define a chain of responsibility for accidents.

Intellectual property rights for big data will also be acknowledged.

The ministry will also invest in the VR sector... to encourage research and development and

facilitate overseas expansion.

VR bang in Korean, or gaming centers where people can enjoy VR games,... will be expanded

with the addition of safe facilities.

Lastly, the ministry will invest in systems to make financial services more convenient

through the use of fintech, or financial technology.

New systems will be made to facilitate transparent trading of virtual currencies... and robo-advisers

will be implemented for use starting this year.

Through these measures, the government expects to generate business opportunities worth roughly

4-hundred-70 billion U.S. dollars... for over 50 VR companies and 300 fintech companies

by 2020.

"New technologies change industries and cause diverse social changes.

Today we talk about these three, but our ministry will also work to come up with innovation-friendly

regulations for the Internet of Things, cloud systems, big data and self-driving cars...

to allow Korea to become an intelligence information society."

"By implementing the new measures, Korea is taking another step toward ensuring the country

is prepared for the fourth industrial revolution... so it can foster new industries and businesses...

that will hopefully improve people's quality of life.

Oh Jung-hee, Arirang News."

Speed Busters: Wesley Chapel woman 'running for her life' from speeders - Duration: 2:42.

Constitutional Court sets Feb. 24th as last hearing - Duration: 2:20.

The impeachment trial on President Park Geun-hye is finally heading toward a finish line.

The Constitutional Court set next Friday as the date for the last hearing.

For the updates we turn to Kim Ji-yeon.

The Constitutional Court has set the last hearing for Februrary 24th and asked the legal

teams of both sides to make their closing arguments that day.

That means the ruling on the impeachment motion on President Park Geun-hye could be decided

upon in early March... before interim Chief Justice Lee Jung-mi's term ends on March 13th.

Justice Lee said the current confusion and chaos due to the lack of a state leader should

not continue and said that as important as a fair ruling... is a prompt one,... which

is why the court has been holding two or three hearings a week for the past two months.

The two sides' legal teams had different responses to the setting of a final hearing.

"We highly respect the court's decision to make a prompt ruling on the impeachment motion."

"We think the court has made a hasty and dangerous decision,... and we think February 24th is

too soon for closing arguments."

The president's lawyers said they need more time for the closing arguments than the date

the court specified.

The lawyers also said that they will consult with President Park about whether she herself

will appear for the hearings now that the date for the last hearing has been set.

As for Thursday's testimony in court, former K-Sports Foundation chairman Jeong Dong-chun

testified that he was recommended for his post by President Park's longtime confidante

Choi Soon-sil, who allegedly ran the foundation.

He noted that Choi's former associate Ko Young-tae is now serving as acting chairman.

Jeong also said he seriously doubts that there is any substantial content on the tablet PC

found last October allegedly belonging to Choi.

He observed that it had been discarded by both Choi and Ko and was not protected in

any way, which to him indicated it would not be storing things like the president's speeches

or itineraries for overseas travel.

"On Monday, three more witnesses are scheduled to testify, including former presidential

chief of staff Kim Ki-choon."

LYOS.TV - Chapter 1 - The Dream... Subtitles Sp,En,Fr,Gr,Rs,It,Dt - Duration: 8:32.

An Island

LYOS

The Dream...

Well

after so many months

I don´t even know who I am

I don´t have a house

When you chose a homeless life

It´s difficult… it´s difficult to change, right?

I don´t know how to start

this

This island

has changed me

I have been

don´t know how long without a mirror

without toilet… without bed

I think this is the

stupidest idea I´ve ever had

Some nights ago

I had a dream

It was with

Paloma

My... love

when I was 5 years old

We were in kindergarten

and

she criticized me

She criticized me for all the nonsense I could think of

She criticized me

for all the things I had done for years

She started to complain when

I climbed

Iztaccihuatl

that Ron took me

What´s up?

Nothing, just here Wuey

Let´s go?

Let´s go

How do you feel?

Cool

I love you so much

She started to complain about

the bicycle trip to Cancun

She started to complain when I bought my motorcycle

and went to San Antonio, U.S.

She complained about everything

the Cave of Swallows

Is a f***ing shit

I think it´s the first time I prayed

3 "our fathers" in a row

Thank God

Is a f***ing shit... check that out

She complained about the Papantla Flyers

You and your f***ing friend Ron!

Always... inventing pure stupidity!

And now you are

in Asia

In Asia

crossing an island that you have no idea about

Doing stupid stuff again

stupid, stupid stuff

Your uncles don´t love you anymore

Your cousins don´t love you anymore

Your parents don´t love you anyore

No one love you anymore

You don´t give them news... don´t know anything about you

They think you are on drugs... When was

the last Christmas you were here?

Me: Well, well, is just that

with this life of... vagabond

well, it´s difficult

She says: You see?

Says: Now

Now few people love you

I don´t know how many months I have been on this island

but crossing it by land

2 thousand and so kilometers

It wasn´t, it wasn´t the smartest

now I know

I´m not having a good time

Not even in the detention centers

was I treated so bad, you see?

The one in Honduras

or the time of the photo in Iraq

Not even there

had I eaten so badly or slept so badly

And she was complaining about all that as well

Enough! How many more times you will be detained?

Eh!

Hey!

What´s up Bro!

Mexican!

They took me

in the police car everywhere

to the hotel, to the other hotel

It seems that I´m leaving now

I have no ID

No any ID?

Passport… Mexican?

Thanks for everything

Can... I see your passport please?

The camera?

Turn it off please

Off?

And... then she said

so

You have to give more news to your parents

You have to give more news

to the few people that love you

She hugged me

and... gave me a kiss

and I woke up

It was a really really

really good dream

Now that I look back

there are too many

I went running with bulls

so... I had car accidents

Motorcycle accidents

so… I... I

was trapped by an avalanche

I lost a finger

Climbing… to the top of the world

I bought... motorcycles in

Thailand

in Vietnam

in India

in Mexico

Just trying to

not forget

not forget their affection

Or not to loose the affection of the mexicans

who still love me

Well… I´m going to make some chapters, yeah?

I want to tell you

everything that has happened

since I left Mexico the last time

until now

For now, I´m not going to tell you where I am

it will be a surprise

I just know this is the biggest nonsense

the biggest I have ever done

And

I had, I had many… ok?

well

Take care Mom

Take care Dad

And… many kisses to

everybody there... ok?

Bye bye

LGBT Extra Care Scheme - Duration: 1:16.

So we've announced today the first LGBT extra care scheme in

the entire UK. What that means

is it's a scheme to support older people to live in the community

but with the majority of LGBT residents

meaning that LGBT people can feel safe

as they get older and be in a really

positive environment where they don't

need to worry about being themselves.

Manchester is an age-friendly city and part of being an age-friendly city

is that we create an

environment that is welcoming and

accessible to all older people in the city.

At the city council we've commissioned research with

the LGBT Foundation, Age Uk and other charities

around the needs experiences of older

lesbian gay bisexual and trans people in

the city and one of the things that came

out quite strongly

is that people, particularly those that fought discrimination

to be out and to be themselves

their entire lives are now starting to

worry that they might have to go back into the closet

or their needs might not be understood,

met or welcomed

So the idea of this new LGBT extra care scheme

Is that we're able to bring a community of people together.

It means of people get older

they can have the support they need but

in a positive and supportive

non-discriminatory environment.

Searching for Planet Nine - Duration: 6:27.

Have you heard, another major planet lurking in the distant shadows of our Solar System?

It's not out of the realm of possibility.

In fact, a couple of scientists think it's basically a certainty at this point.

Say hello to Planet Nine, or Planet X.

Well you can't really say hello to it, because we haven't seen it yet.

But two researchers at Caltech, Mike Brown and Konstantin Batygin, are convinced it's

out there based on the way objects are moving around at the edge of the Solar System.

And if it does exist, it's a pretty sizable planet.

The two estimate it's about 10 to 12 times the mass of Earth, so kind of like a smaller

Neptune.

And it orbits wayyyyy out there.

At its farthest from the Sun, the planet is somewhere between 500 and 1200 AUs.

For reference Pluto's farthest distance is less than 50 AUs from the Sun.

So it's possible that this planet takes up to 20,000 Earth years to complete just

one orbit.

Right now, this stranger is mostly going by the name of Planet Nine, but not everyone

is keen on that title.

Alan Stern: I don't like them calling it Planet 9.

The astronomer who discovered was named Clyde Tombaugh.

He did it in 1930.

He was 24 years old and people had looked for a generation.

And nobody could find the planet they were looking for.

So the reason I don't like the term Planet 9, when by count the next planet would be

about Planet 29, is that it diminishes Clyde Tombaugh's legacy.

What he did was an absolutely amazing feat for 20th century astronomy.

And I think it is insensitve, and a little bit rude to try to diminish that.

But, Planet Nine is the name that stuck, so I guess we'll go with it for now.

Anyway, the search really gained steam in 2014, when Mike and Konstantin decided to

look at the outer Solar System a little bit more closely.

They were inspired by the discovery of a new object in the Kuiper Belt.

That's the cloud of icy bodies that orbits past Neptune.

The announcement of this new object called their attention to the most distant objects

in the Solar System, these are the ones that take more than 4,000 years to orbit the Sun.

They noticed a strange pattern with six of these far out objects, including the one that

had just been found.

They all had a common "argument of perihelion."

Don't worry, the Kuiper Belt objects aren't in a fight or anything.

The argument of perihelion is this really obscure orbital feature, and it basically

means whenever these objects make their closest approach to the Sun, they're all at the

same angle to a plane of reference.

That was immediately strange, because this parameter should be random for each object.

It was the first indication that their orbits had been manipulated, possibly by another

planet.

Then a closer look showed even more interesting similarities.

All of their orbits lie in the same plane, and they're all kind of tilted away from

the plane of the Solar System by about 20 degrees.

Plus they're all highly elliptical and swing out from the Sun in the same direction.

Normally, these objects would trace out randomly in a flower-like pattern.

It's as if some THING had arranged these objects so that they cluster in space together.

And that something had significant gravitational influence.

So the two researchers set out to figure out what was behind this strange pattern.

At first, they rejected the idea that a planet was the culprit.

You can't just be pulling planets out of thin air, I mean, the vacuum of space.

But after ruling out all the other mechanisms that could be causing these objects to cluster,

they decided there was no other explanation except for a planet.

It's not a totally crazy idea either.

Neptune was predicted purely through math in 1846.

Inspired by that process, Konstantin came up with a model of the Solar System as it

evolved over 4 billion years.

He threw planet nine into this model, and sure enough, it evolved beautifully into the

Solar System we see today.

And since this first discovery, even more objects have been found in the outer Kuiper

Belt that fit this pattern.

But there are extra clues that Planet Nine exists too.

For one: it may be responsible for why the Sun is tilted.

For many years now, we've know that the Sun's axis is tilted, or oblique, by about

6 degrees in relation to the rest of the Solar System.

Basically all of the planets orbit in the same flat plane around the Sun, but the Sun

looks like it's spinning at a slight angle in relation to everything else.

It's been a long-standing mystery for a while, but the Caltech researchers say Planet

Nine could be behind this.

The planet's gravity has torqued the solar system out of alignment with the sun, so basically

all of us are the ones that are tilted.

Then there's another clue: a bunch of objects right next to Neptune are orbiting the wrong

way in the Solar System.

One recently discovered object Niku is basically perpendicular to the rest of the Solar System,

and it's going in the opposite direction of most other objects.

Konstantin says Planet Nine is responsible for this too.

It's doing something called the Kozai effect.

It's actually tilting the orbits of objects on their sides, and with the help of Neptune,

they end up orbiting the Sun in the wrong direction.

Alright so we have all this evidence for Planet Nine, but we still don't have the smoking

gun: seeing the damn thing!

The Caltech researchers have been observing the night sky with Subaru, a huge telescope

located in Hawaii.

The goal is to completely map out the orbit of the planet, so they can eventually catch

it.

It's a process that may take a while, probably a couple years.

And it may be hampered if Planet Nine is orbiting against the backdrop of the Milky Way.

Since this planet is so far away, it's super faint, so it'd be much harder to see against

a bunch of really bright stars.

But it's not so ridiculous to think that this planet might exist.

One of the biggest findings from NASA's Kepler mission is that smaller Neptunes like

Planet Nine are very common throughout the galaxy.

So having one in our neighborhood actually makes us pretty normal.

Konstantin says he's confident we're gonna find it eventually, but we may just be waiting

a while.

So fun fact Mike Brown was actually referenced in another video that we did about "What makes

a planet a planet," because he is often credited with helping to demote Pluto to a dwarf planet.

So the irony here is that he got rid of one 9th planet and then replaced it with his own

9th planet.
