The dog the left is Donna and the dog the right is cookie.
Donna is usually excited to hop out of bed but Cookie… not so much :P
Welcome to Mutt Vlog. Today we're going to conquer Fort Canning before Breakfast!
We're joining Misty, Easter and Tinsel on their regular Monday outings.
Roll call and inspections are done, Misty says let's just go!
It wasn't too long before we met with our first excitement of the day – roosters!
I couldn't really get a close shot of the roosters from my handphone.
But trust me, if you expand the video you may just spot the rooster darting to the trees.
And that's exactly what got Easter's attention.
And it's not just in one field, the roosters seemed to be everywhere!
Leave it. No, no.
I thought you ask me to catch my dinner?
I give you, I give you. (Laughter)
(Gives directions to dogs.)
Eventually we seemed to have left the roosters behind.
The archaeological dig site we walked past was of minimal interest to the dogs.
But Donna and Easter took the time to leave their mark on the patch of flowering shrubs that we walked by.
OK, Donna took her time like the lady of leisure that she was so we had to run a bit to catch up.
(Cheers dog on)
(She jumped over Cookies leash.)
And then she was leisurely posing again on a leaf bench, and then a log.
This girl, really, does she have to take that many selfies???
(Walks away, dog follows) Good job, Donna! Good girl.
But finally, we approached the spot where we were destined to become the conquerors of Fort Canning.
Tada! Look ma! I've confiscated the canon!
And that's when we got the heart attack.
Because first one of them jumped on the wall and disappeared!
It was a steep drop down to the other side and it seemed like she had just dropped down!
But thank goodness she suddenly appeared again.
She had wriggled underneath the canon to get to the other side of the ledge.
Her mom got her off it safely and then Donna, decided she wanted to jump too.
Whut….??? Donna usually is too lazy to jump on walls… so I don't know what got into her.
Maybe all that fuss just got her over-excited.
So, if you do bring your dogs there, be mindful that sometimes dogs just
suddenly take it into their heads to jump on high walls and shock you. Be careful there.
Otherwise it was all fun and games after all we have just conquered Fort Canning Park!
It's our cannon now!
Photographs are mandatory.
Ah dog playground...
I was thinking the same thing! (in Chinese)
Oh, careful!
Tinsel come! Donna go up!
Overcrowding.
Look at Cookie. (in Chinese)
Cookie don't you want to join them?
Noooooo.....
He's so funny....
... balancing act. Her legs are shivering.
Silly girl, good!
(Teasing dog) Yeah, you stay there we go home already. Bye bye!
With Fort Canning conquered, our tummies are rumbling so our next stop was breakfast.
But first we needed to get out of Fort Canning Park.
It's really nice to just stroll down these green pathways.
I wasn't very familiar with the park so I was just following along, but I guess we couldn't go fast enough.
So somepawdy got all excited about catching a squirrel.
Squirrel!! Look squirrel!!
It looks like the dogs couldn't wait for breakfast! :P
They got a quick snack (and that's not squirrel by the way. They don't really eat squirrels. :P)
Hey, you took one from me already, you cannot take that.
She's trying her luck.
Are we going down to the road?
Yah, along Singapore River.
and it's a race down the hill.
We then crossed the road and walked along Clark Quay.
You would think it's a quiet Monday morning stroll, but there's a bit of pedestrian traffic,
some on wheels so watch out for those.
Clark Quay is lined with many al fresco eating places along the river,
so Easter was always wondering which one we are gonna stop at.
And Donna was just following Easter along.
We actually have quite a ways to go.
I mean, we're here. And our destinations all the way over here.
And you know when Google says it takes 41min by foot,
you know it takes longer when you're walking with dogs, don't you? :P
Please don't be tricked by her since she already rejected the water.
(Donna drinks the water offered to her, contrary to what mom is saying.)
So patience, Easter. And it's not that bad,
time seemed to fly much faster though when you're fooling around taking pictures of the doggos.
Cookie keeps veering away to the left, keeping a chaste distance from the girls on the right. (in Chinese)
OH I SEE! (I found the classic Chinese saying about morality funny in this context)
Now don't we make a fine pack. :)
To be honest even I zoned out after a while so the rest of the walk wasn't recorded until
Yay! We're here at Tiong Bahru Bakery!!!
Dogs can't go indoors so while these dogs wait outside, let's go take a look inside.
We ordered a mix of baked goods. I got myself a salmon and spinach quiche that I enjoyed.
And I did accidentally drop some of it so *ahem* somepawdy got to enjoy a bite of it as well.
Anyway, the meal passed peacefully after that, once the dogs settled down.
Look, Cookie's not even bothering to lift his head anymore. (in Chinese)
He is... (in Chinese)
(Resting her chin on you is part of Donna's begging behaviour. )
Relax!!
Donna!
(I wanted her to repeat the behaviour but she settled into a down-stay instead :P
And that was how we conquered Fort Canning Park before breakfast!
If you are planning to visit Fort Canning, wear long pants.
The very first thing that struck us about Fort Canning were the mosquitoes.
I sprayed myself with mosquito repellant before I left the house but that did not stop them from biting!
And it didn't help that I and the other ladies were in shorts.
Donna was wearing her bandana with Insect Shield technology so I certainly hope that helped!
If you want to see more Insect Shield products I've got a few links in the caption box below
pointing to Amazon so you can go there and check those out.
Heartworm is spread by mosquitos, so do make sure that your dog gets regular heartworm prevention
like Heartgard or Interceptor.
