Bitcoin for Beginners | #AskTheAdvisor 51 - Duration: 4:26.hey everybody I'm Mike Desepoli and this is episode 51 of the ask the
advisor show. Today we're going to talk about Bitcoin for beginners, you know
it's been a lot of hype in the news and media recently around Bitcoin which is a
digital currency or a cryptocurrency, so as you know you ask and we answer, so we want to
talk about a couple things here today whether you're somebody that's looking
to invest in Bitcoin or somebody that's never heard of it before we've got some
information that you're gonna want to know so first what is Bitcoin well other
than being a crypto or a digital currency is often referred to in the
media Bitcoin is basically a digital network that allows two people to
exchange value back and forth without a middleman if that sounds confusing think
of it as digital or online cash okay you're able to move in and out of
different currencies different countries without paying that exchange for aid
that middleman costs and also it keeps people with their transactions a little
bit more discreet if that's something that may be important to you now will
Bitcoin become something mainstream something that's accepted both here in
the US and worldwide and that largely remains to be seen one little known fact
about Bitcoin it's actually been around for nine years already but you really
didn't hear much about it until this year 2017 now the longer that it stays
around the longer that it gone there's people's attention the more viable
people think it will become and that's attributed to the large price increases
that we've seen this year in 2017 all right current price of a Bitcoin is
around seventeen or eighteen thousand US dollars per Bitcoin so whether or not
that price actually will continue to rise or fall we really have no idea but
it's something that we've definitely had our eye on as 2017
plays out now why is Bitcoin so volatile meaning why are there such large swings
both up and down in the price on a daily weekly or monthly basis and the answer
for that is it's it's very highly speculative okay just because it's been
around for nine years we don't know if it'll be around nine years from now and
obviously the movement and the price has attracted in a lot of traders as well as
early investors that think that it has staying power and will be around for a
long time and it's caused people to move into
investing in these cryptocurrencies now anytime you buy something an extremely
high price there's always the risk that it will go down in value and you
couldn't lose money so that's something to consider before buying Bitcoin at
these levels another thing to consider it is a highly unregulated trading
market for bitcoins okay it's not nearly the size as the US stock or bond market
and therefore it's largely unregulated so these are all things that you need to
consider before investing in Bitcoin now if you've done all your checks and
balances and you've done your due diligence how do you buy Bitcoin well
there's only one fund in the United States right now that helps you or
allows you to buy Bitcoin through them some of the other options are pricey
hedge funds so basically what you're gonna have to do if you want to invest
in Bitcoin you're gonna have to do so directly through it coin based exchange
you'll set up a Bitcoin wallet you'll load onto an exchange you'll put in a
buy order and your wait for that buy order to be filled now again it's a
smaller market when you're trading bitcoins versus US stocks so there is a
lot of price movement and there's no guarantee that the price that you pay
for that Bitcoin will be the value that you get in return when you try to sell
it a couple other fun facts about Bitcoin number one they do not look like
those shiny coins that you see in every picture on the news media there's in
fact there is no coin physical coin of a Bitcoin okay it's all done digitally
it's tracked through a Bitcoin wallet and obviously inundated or indexed
rather on a computer so there is no shiny fancy coin that you will get and
obviously because it's highly unregulated we do not know the US
government if they'll ever take a role in either supporting or outlawing
Bitcoin and that's always a risk that you need to consider so use a couple
facts about Bitcoin for beginners if you have any additional questions feel free
to reach out to me on social media any questions that you have pertaining to
this topic or anything else would be happy to answer that for you thanks guys
happy holidays we'll see you back next week

Margolin Minute: Year-end tax planning tips for businesses - Duration: 2:10.(upbeat music)
- It's important this time of year
when we're entering the beginning
of the fall period that we start turning
our attention toward year-end planning
for individuals and businesses.
Each year it's important that we identify
what the potential transactions are
and where the taxpayer is with respect
to their earnings to determine whether
there are transactions that should be contemplated
and executed before year-end versus
possibly deferring those transactions.
There can be considerable differences
in the amount of tax dollars that result
since tax savings that can be gained
with respect to planning transactions.
However, if businesses are looking
at acquisitions or selling assets,
then certainly it is important to determine
whether it's better off to do those
transactions in 2017 or 2018.
What's important at this time of year is to gather
the information with respect to your earnings to date,
take a look at what transactions might be pending
because there are in all likelihood
considerable items that you have in the queue
in terms of acquisitions or additional marketing efforts
or perhaps selling some assets.
This time of year it's important to get
the information together so that we can start making
some planning decisions and doing comparables
and what-ifs to determine what
the tax consequences might be if
the different alternatives are actually executed.
It is not too late to do year-end planning
until the very end of the year.
Oftentimes those final numbers for November
and early December are the most useful
because they're the most current
and we only are required to project
a couple of weeks of earnings.
So it's never too late to do year-end planning
until we'll say the very last week of the year
when you know businesses are generally not doing much
towards year-end.

What Healthy People Really Eat For Dinner - Duration: 5:06.Most experts agree that a healthy meal is one that provides a balance of nutrients and
consists of whole, minimally-processed foods.
"Hey guys…"
"Hey"
"Wow that looks healthy."
"Yeah, it's kale, Quinoa, and black beans, it's full of calcium, protein, and fiber for
bone tissue and digestive health."
But while it's easy to imagine filling half your plate with veggies, a quarter with protein
and a quarter with carbs — what should you...actually be eating?
We're dishing up the specifics on what wellness-winners really serve up for dinner.
Master that meal prep
Amanda Field, of Field Nutrition, aims for a balance of protein, veggies, carbs, and
healthy fat at dinnertime.
She says,
"My go-to dinner is some farro or barley that I prepped earlier in the week, mixed with
pesto, topped with baked tofu or cast iron skillet salmon."
As far as those veggies on her plate, she likes "roasted broccoli, zucchini, bell peppers,
and tomatoes" — and maybe a little avocado or sauerkraut too.
Throw it together
Dietitian Kelly Jones of Kelly Jones Performance Nutrition says that when she doesn't have
time to deal with meal prep, she likes veggie omelets, avocado toast, or a salmon burger
on greens.
And she always keeps veggies in the freezer, to add to any dish, in a pinch.
Find your balance
Rebecca Clyde, owner of Nourish Nutrition Co., is all about a balanced, flexible approach
that works with the ebbs and flows of day to day life — without any dreaded deprivation.
She advises asking yourself what feels nourishing to your body, and admits,
"Sometimes I'm organized and have some sort of week-long meal plan that I follow, other
times it's not at all organized, and I scrounge through my pantry for pasta or grab some eggs."
Throw in some veggies and dinner is served!
Don't cook
Don't have hours to spend sweating over the stove at night?
Get your oven in the game.
Dietitian Kristina Todini, of Fork In The Road, says her favorite meal is a sheet pan
full of roasted veggies.
Toss everything with a little oil and spice, add a protein, and you're ready to eat!
Take it easy
Think you need to go all out for a seriously healthy meal?
You don't.
Christy Brissette, President of 80 Twenty Nutrition, takes it easy.
She says,
My go-to dinner is lemon chicken and quinoa with greek salad and homemade tzatziki.
"I meal prep the chicken and quinoa, and the other items take less than five minutes."
New Jersey-based dietitian Therese Bonanni also takes a trip down easy street with a
spinach-and-cheese omelette and a piece of avocado toast.
She says,
"I usually have a bag of pre-washed spinach in the fridge, and it's easy to throw a handful
into eggs while cooking.
My secret ingredient is a dash of garlic powder in my omelettes for extra flavor without added
salt."
Indulge in your favorite
Amy Gorin, owner of Amy Gorin Nutrition knows that simple tweaks let you indulge in a healthier
way.
She packs her pizza with protein, when she makes what she calls:
"My Sweet Potato Cauliflower Pizza.
I use a 'sauce' of pureed sweet potato so that I get extra fiber and vitamins.
Then I top that with cheese, roasted cauliflower, shallots, and fresh herbs."
To keep it light, she uses a thin, pizza-style flatbread, and serves up a salad with beans,
for extra protein and fiber.
Get tossed
Dietitian Meredith Harper loves to throw together a salad for dinner.
She says,
"I often skip the lettuce and just chop up any other veggies I have on hand.
I add chickpeas or a veggie burger to the mix for some protein, and dress with olive
oil and lemon juice."
Make a snack
Dietitian Elena Paravantes Hargitt loves the evening dinner ritual she shares with her
husband.
After their kids hit the sack, the pair grabs a glass of wine, and they make a plate of
cheese, carrots, cherry tomatoes, and zucchini strips.
She says,
"And then we always have a salad with plenty of greens and nuts with an olive oil-balsamic
vinegar dressing.
It is satisfying but not heavy."
Make it mindful
Tracee Yablon Brenner of Triad to Wellness encourages enjoying dinner as an opportunity
to connect with friends and family.
She says,
"It is important to sit down and eat either as a family or with friends, if possible,
on a regular basis.
Dinner time is a good time to reflect on the day…
Have the phones off during dinner… and really engage in conversation."
Brenner loves a slow-cooker ancient grain chili, served with cilantro cream, for a well
balanced meal — any night of the week.
Find your go-to
You don't have to reinvent the wheel every night.
Life gets busy and messy, and having a few easy entree options in your back pocket can
keep you sane and satisfied.
Dr. Jenn Bowers says,
"My go-to dinner is Tilapia Tacos.
Everyone likes it.
Ingredients are always on hand.
Only takes 15 minutes...It covers protein, veggies and grains.
Win-win!"
Dietitian Georgia Rounder goes for easy enchiladas.
She does them up with refried beans, sauteed veggies — and of course, a little cheese
— all wrapped up in tortillas, and topped with Greek yogurt, and avocado.
Whatever your favorites, with these tips and a little mindful prep, you'll be nailing that
healthy dinner menu in no time!
