celebration of king Sunny Ade's 70th birthday, his Guitar is auctioned off at a

concert tagged "Sunny on Sunday" for 52.1 million naira. The buyer was

later identified as Tunde Folawiyo, Managing Director of the Yinka

Folawiyo Group. 2009 The Supreme Court orders the reinstatement of Forty-four(44) out

of the Forty-nine(49) University of Ilorin lecturers who had been sacked by the

University in 2001 for joining a nationwide strike action called for by

the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Five(5) of the lecturers had earlier

been reinstated also by the Supreme Court in June of the same year. The

University was also ordered to pay their salaries and entitlements from February

2001 to the date of the court ruling. Three(3) of the Forty-four(44) lecturers had died before the

ruling of the Supreme Court but were to be paid up to the time of their death.

1998 The Ijaw Youth Council is formed at Kaiama in Bayelsa State by Ijaw youths from

over 500 communities where a declaration later known as the "Kaiama Declaration"

was adopted. They declared that all mineral resources in Ijaw territory

belong to Ijaw communities and gave the military and all oil companies in
