The BBC is preparing for the possibility three of the biggest names on its shortlist for sports personality of the year, including Lewis Hamilton, are likely to miss the awards ceremony.

Froome, who was nominated in recognition of his fourth Tour de France victory, has told the BBC he is almost certain to miss the ceremony because he will be on a warm weather training camp in Mallorca.
To fly over would disrupt his preparation for the Giro d'Italia next year. It had been hoped Farah would be at the ceremony after relocating to Britain from the west coast of America to concentrate on training for the London Marathon.
The Farah family are still in the process of moving and it is thought family commitments may prevent the four-times Olympic champion from attending.

A group of former top intelligence and cybersecurity officials warned Tuesday that President Donald
Trump�s voter fraud probe was creating a database of voters� personal information
that was a ripe target for hackers and could contain serious security vulnerabilities.
Over the summer, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, the Republican who is leading
the probe, sent a letter to election officials in all 50 states requesting all publicly available
voter information, including, if possible, the last four digits of social security numbers.
It�s not entirely clear yet what the commission plans to do with the information, but officials
have expressed interest in comparing the voter information against various federal databases
? such as a Department of Homeland Security list of non-citizens ? to try to identify
people who are on the rolls illegally.
Experts are skeptical that that would be a reliable way to find voter fraud, which several
studies have shown is not a widespread problem.
Most of the signers of the brief were former Obama administration officials, including
James Clapper, the former director of national intelligence.
They filed the brief in a lawsuit against the commission warning that compiling a vast
set of personal information on all Americans was extremely dangerous and would create a
�treasure trove� for hackers and likely be targeted by hostile nations.
DHS has determined Russian hackers scanned voting systems in 21 states during the 2016
election.
�A database that contains large volumes of [personally identifiable information] is
an extremely attractive target for cyberattacks.
Hackers seek to exploit this type of information for a number of reasons, ranging from ordinary
criminal profiteering (e.g., to commit identity theft or to sell the information on the black
market for others to commit identity theft) to intelligence collection by hostile nation
states or non-state actors.
The bigger the database, the greater the payoff from a potential breach,� they wrote in
the brief.
The commission has not been consistent in saying how it plans to store the information.
It initially said it would store the data on a secure Department of Defense server,
but after that raised legal questions, it reversed course and said only the White House
would handle the information and store the data.
The intelligence officials said it was unclear what safeguards were in place to protect the
data in the White House system.
�This new platform is effectively being tested for the first time through the ingestion
of millions of data points about American voters.
Additionally, the White House�s Information Technology staff does not have the same technical
resources at its disposal to maintain large-scale databases as the Department of Defense,�
the brief says.
Charles Christopher Herndon, the director for White House information technology, has
said only a limited number of staff would have contact with the server, but the security
experts said vast resources were needed to work on a system that is frequently the subject
of cyberattacks.
�There is no indication that the Commission has taken the appropriate additional measures,
and allocated the necessary additional resources, to fortify its database against these risks,�
the brief says.
�Given that attempted attacks against White House unclassified networks are regularly
reported in the media (and therefore should be well known to the Commission), this suggests
an overall lack of attentiveness to the magnitude and gravity of the cybersecurity risks posed.�
In addition to Clapper, the former officials who signed the brief included Andrew Grotto,
a former senior director of cybersecurity policy at the White House from 2016 until
2017; Nancy Libin, the chief privacy officer at the Department of Justice from 2009 until
2012; and Paul Rosenzweig, a former deputy assistant secretary for policy at DHS from
2006 to 2009.
In an October court filing, the commission disclosed it had received data from 19 states.
Andrew Kossack, a federal official charged with running the operations of the commission,
said in a different legal filing that the commission�s staff wasn�t currently doing
anything with the data because it faced multiple lawsuits.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation, which is run by J. Christian Adams, a member of
the probe who is close to Kobach, suggested in a tweet the security concerns in the brief
were overblown.
The brief was filed in support of a lawsuit brought by Common Cause, a left-leaning watchdog
group.
The suit argues the commission violated the 1974 Privacy Act, which says agencies can
�maintain no record describing how any individual exercises rights guaranteed by the First Amendment
unless expressly authorized by statute or by the individual about whom the record is
maintained or unless pertinent to and within the scope of an authorized law enforcement
activity.� In August, a federal judge denied a request by Common Cause to halt the commission�s
work while the litigation was pending.

touching on dodging and burning and photo retouching so let's dive into it
as you guys see here we have our beautiful model and let's talk a little
bit about dodging and burning now when photo retouching it's very important to
be able to bring out those deep shadows in those highlights in the face without
coming out with a blotchy a blotchy outcome which you know seems to be a big
issue with a lot of people when they're first starting out how to learn dodging
and burning so I'm gonna show you guys how to do it because there's several
ways to do it but the way that I'm gonna show you guys today is with using
opacity layers and different techniques that are going to get you to the point
of success so let's go ahead and dive into it let me go ahead and hold command
J duplicate it twice I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna make this invisible the layer
at the top invisible and I'm gonna go down here now we want to go ahead and
really bring out the highlight of the skin you see how we have all this white
area over here that can really look good if we if we blend it well so what we're
gonna do is we're gonna go ahead and find the we're gonna go ahead and put
this on screen to really make those on those exposed areas pop so you see what
now her skin is just glowing so what we want to do here is we want to go ahead
and hit hit the layer mask and we want to go ahead and apply this screen layer
to the layer below now we're gonna go over to image and I'm going to go to
apply image I'm gonna keep it on normal but we also want to make sure that we
hit invert now what invert does is it applies the layer to the layer below
without OB being an overwhelming factor that makes sense so I'll show you them
I'm sure you what I'm talking about right here now it looks like it's soft
on the skin so if I take it off and put it back on you see the difference
there's it looks and it looks incredible if we wanted to we could leave it like
this but we're just gonna take it a step further and
really bring out those shadows and smooth the skin so what we're gonna do
next is we're gonna make this top layer active and then we're gonna desaturate
the image so we're gonna go over to adjustments desaturate boom now we have
a black-and-white we have a black-and-white image and this is what
we're going to use to bring out those deep shadows now we're gonna go over to
the we're gonna go over to the filter filter section go down to other and
high-pass and we're just gonna tweak this until we have something that we
like notice how whenever we move the radius these areas get a little darker
and it starts bringing out a little bit more details in her eyes and her
eyelashes are starting to pop the strands of hair starting to come out a
little bit more so I think we're gonna stay around around this area because I'm
really liking how this is looking right now I'm gonna hit okay and then what we
want to do is we want to take this and we're gonna set it to an overlay so it's
pretty much sitting on top of the layer below and I think I like that let's go
ahead and sift through some other options see if we have any other pasty
layers that are gonna bring out those deep those deep blacks the way that we
want to to do that we're gonna hold shift and we're gonna hit the plus sign
soft light that's actually like soft light we're actually going we're gonna
leave it on soft light that looks good when you take the El facil
this is just to give it a little bit more of a natural feel this is the
difference let's go ahead and go back to the beginning so yeah looking looking
really good so far take it down probably just a little bit
more and then next what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna show you guys it take me
smoothing out the skin so now that we have all this and I think we're gonna go
ahead I like I like the way this this is looking so far so what I'm gonna do is
I'm gonna hit command alt shift E and that pretty much brings all the effects
into one picture I'm gonna go ahead and make those make those not visible and
I'm gonna go ahead and duplicate this on this final drop layer at the top now
this is where the cool part this is where the magic happens what we're gonna
do next is we're gonna go ahead and invert this and they're gonna play oh it
looks like a horror movie so hope or a movie story horror movie picture excuse
me and that's not what we're going for so we need to go ahead and see if we can
get this fixed so after after you after you inverted the picture you're gonna go
down to pivot light and you're gonna hit this you're gonna get these weird colors
in this weird saturation and that's that's what you want so after that
you're gonna go up here and we're gonna go to a high pass eyes are glowing so
I'm gonna bring that down a little bit cuz that's not it's a little bit too
harsh so now we're getting to the now we're getting to the point where her
skin is really starting to pop and the the details and their eyes are really
starting to come out I think I think I like it around here leave it like that
you know what we're gonna do next is we're gonna go ahead and blur this high
pass filter so to give us more it was give us that smooth skin effect now this
is a quick there's a quick touch-up so this will get you to where you need to
be in order for it to look good but I definitely recommend that everyone
spends a little bit of on your photo retoucher just to make
sure that you're getting the most out of it
so after um after we've applied the filter excuse me I can't sleep the day
for whatever reason but after we've applied the filter we're gonna gonna go
to filter and we're gonna go down to blur we're gonna go to guys Chandler and
this is where we get that magical smooth skin effect you guys can see the
difference now her eyes now her eyes are really glowing and she just looks
freaking amazing now I would usually go into Camera Raw bring out some of them
bring out some of the saturation in her body and in her skin
and kind of smooth over just a little areas and really take the Dodge and burn
tool and really go into it but I'm not gonna do that with this session I just
wanted to kind of take the time to show you guys how to get a solid outcome

Hamas Calls For New Palestinian Uprising Against Israel After Trump�s Jerusalem Move.
The powerful Palestinian Islamist group Hamas called on Thursday for a new uprising against
Israel after U.S. President Donald Trump�s recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.
�We should call for and we should work on launching an intifada in the face of the Zionist
enemy,� Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said in a speech in Gaza.
Haniyeh, elected the group�s overall leader in May, urged Palestinians, Muslims and Arabs
to hold rallies against the U.S decision on Friday, calling it a �day of rage.�
�Let December 8 be the first day of the intifada against the occupier,� he said.
Israel and the United States consider Hamas, which has fought three wars with Israel since
2007, a terrorist organization.
It does not recognize Israel�s right to exist and its suicide bombings helped spearhead
the last intifada, from 2000 to 2005.
�We have given instruction to all Hamas members and to all its wings to be fully ready
for any new instructions or orders that may be given to confront this strategic danger
that threatens Jerusalemand threatens Palestine,� said Haniyeh.
�United Jerusalem is Arab and Muslim, and it is the capital of the state of Palestine,
all of Palestine,� he said, referring to territory including Israel as well as the
Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Haniyeh called on Western-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to withdraw from peacemaking
with Israel and on Arabs to boycott the Trump administration.
�It should be announced that the so-called peace agreement was buried, once and for all,
and that there is nothing called a partner for the Palestinians in peace,� he said.
Trump reversed decades of U.S. policy to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, upsetting
the Arab world and Western allies alike.
