Waching daily Feb 3 2017

The other week I talked about some popular class ideas intrepid players created concepts

for.

To their credit, their popularity is understandable and I did not give these ideas the full attention

they deserve.

This's mostly because there are so many differences in the details that I couldn't

hope to express them all the same way these passionate and talented thinkers could.

It's their ideas, after all.

I can only speak for myself, on my own YouTube soapbox.

So now that you're here, I'm throwing my name in the hat.

Let's design a class.

Should be easy, right?

Hey it's Soul, bringing you the Word of Warcraft.

Today I'm going to have some fun - I'm going to mock up a concept of a new WoW class,

with some ideas for specs, a outline for a backstory and how to implement this class.

Throughout this piece we'll consider some design challenges Blizzard will face and by

the end, I won't have designed the greatest class ever ready for launch tomorrow.

I won't even have a complete idea.

There won't be much in the way of details at all because trying to go as far as create

abilities and rotations is a waste of time for any one individual.

but maybe, just maybe, we'll have a neat idea a designer can run with.

Let me repeat myself here - this is just a concept.

Design is a group process.

I have zero design experience, but if there's one thing I do know about being a designer,

it's that no matter how much passion and thought put in, and you think of your idea

as your own baby, there will be many times you've got to let that baby go.

And no, I don't mean that literally.

In our previous video I talked about how a new class has historically fit the theme of

the expansion it's introduced in.

Death Knights for Lich King, Monks for Mists, Demon Hunters for Legion.

There's an obviously strong connection between expansion and class.

Considering our historical references, two expansions after Legion might bring us a new

class, and maybe a new race.

Let's assume this is true.

What could the next-next expansion be?

Popular ideas include a trip to Argus, the South Seas, another continent in Azeroth,

The Emerald Dream (still), a Void Lord world, and well the list goes on.

This narrows our list of possible classes somewhat, but I want to challenge that restriction.

Does the class absolutely HAVE to fit the expansion's theme?

I'm going to throw a limb out there and say no.

Maybe not.

I'm going to try an approach of introducing a class that doesn't necessarily have to

be a part of the expansion it's launched in.

Now, this immediately brings up the question, "why have the class at all, then?

An expansion sets the stage for this kind of thing, right?"

To that, I'd like to tell a short story, because if an expansion isn't going to help

frame this new class, we need an effective story to explain how this class came to be.

Or if it was always there.

This is the story of one man who's lived throughout WoW's story thus far, but has

been overlooked until now.

We don't know his or her name but let's call him Bill.

Let's make bill Human and let's have the starting experience begin in Westfall.

And did I mention that this experience starts as a flashback, all the way back to the days

of classic WoW?

Well I just did.

Bill works for a group of scavengers.

This is no ordinary group though; it's more like a company that follows the exploits of

the latest happenings in Azeroth.

In fact this company is run by a goblin, who employs anyone looking for a buck.

Doesn't matter if they're Human, Orc, Forsaken, Dwarf, or even a fellow Goblin.

In Westfall, Bill's company is going through what's left in the Defias family's hidden

holding, otherwise known as the Deadmines.

The Defias' entire operation was just recently dismantled by five people!

With most everyone inside dead or scattered, Bill and his crew of bottom feeders move in

to clear the rest of the place out of loot and life.

Bill's good with a gun, even though he's never been in a war.

Bill's boss likes him enough and has him perform special tasks in the Deadmines.

Disarm this.

Deactivate that.

Haul some dangerous cargo.

Knock a few heads.

That sort of thing.

This company moves from place to place following wakes of destruction, looking for riches that

"adventurers" and "champions" leave behind.

It's their livelihood.

It's their job.

Bill's job takes him through the timeline of the World of Warcraft in the aftermath

of major and minor events.

And he has his own adventures.

Most notably during his company's travels, Bill befriends a wandering ogre, lost after

his clan was wiped out by adventurers down in Feralas.

After a born-again ogre experience, he's named Bob by Bill.

At another point his new friend and the company find some incredible contraption that for

plot-based reasons, only Bill's ogre friend can operate.

This is important later.

Bill and Bob have almost whimsical adventures together on the job.

They help break ground in Area 52 over in Outland, and try to loot the tombs of Uldum.

They try to mine a rare form of Saronite right under the new Lich King's nose and get in

lots of trouble for drinking on the job while helping the Stormstouts.

Basically, players will jump forward in time as these two undergo one assignment after

another until they reach our present, or somewhere close to that.

A fateful encounter leaves Bill and Bob, or you and your ogre companion, left to choose

between the Horde and Alliance to further their need to just get by in this crazy world.

Bill and Bob make the new class.

Both of them.

Together.

Obviously I don't have a name for this class, and that's intentional.

Bill is just a guy with a job and a gun.

Bob is just an ogre with an amazing and dangerous weapon.

The name of this class doesn't necessarily have to be based on some iconic theme or ability.

Maybe the name is based on them.

Maybe they're just Buddies.

Well that's an awful name.

Moving on.

Bill and Bob's story will let players revisit parts of WoW's iconic adventures from a

very different perspective.

They'll lean away from the pressures of world ending threats like Deathwing and the

Lich King and see the aftermath of what Azeroth's champions left behind.

What happened to the Underhold, that huge labyrinth under Orgrimmar?

And did anything happen in Azeroth while our champions were in an unshattered Draenor?

Introducing a class in this way, where it involves elements of WoW that were already

experienced by players is bound to result in some retroactive continuity, or retcons.

We've seen this as recently as with Demon Hunters where the details behind Illidan's

demise were changed somewhat.

Part of the premise of this class isn't just to bring in something new, but to give

additional narrative and nuance to the WoW that was left behind.

An approach like this is basically immune to the concern that a new class should fit

the design of the expansion it's introduced in.

In this case, Bill and Bob were always just a step behind or in the background, picking

up after the adventurers who laid waste to the enemies of the world.

Because of that, they can be introduced at any time.

12 years of WoW allows for this kind of idea.

So both Bill and Bob make up this new class.

Essentially it's a race of the player's choosing with an ogre companion.

Under the context of the narrative I built, we're restricted to a handful of the races

that were available in classic WoW.

And Goblins.

This class will have three specs with obvious differences but I'm going to leave the flavor

and theme out of it.

This class has no name so we can keep things open; the only hard requirement is that Bill

and Bob work together.

In terms of gear, Bill will wear mail gear.

Bob will unfortunately not wear a matching set, but that's what glyphs are for.

The first spec is what players will first experience when starting out as this class.

Bob uses a ranged weapon and regardless of the active spec, a ranged weapon will be the

only weapon of this class.

As players progress through an abridged, almost episodic leveling experience, Bob will join

him and almost act like a hunter pet, but not quite.

For the most part Bob, or your ogre, will stand closely at the player's side and also

perform ranged attacks using a special weapon designed for it that was picked up during

the introductory experience.

As for what that could be, use your imagination.

It could be a titan artifact, some goblin rocket launcher, whatever suits your fantasy.

What these weapons and abilities end up being will define the name of the class, so yes,

a Tinker-like class is possible.

To fit the fantasy and illusion of controlling two characters, maybe abilities can be split

among man and ogre, and each could have their own separate global cooldown.

The second spec will be a healer, but I never said Bill was a good healer.

Maybe Bill can perform first aid techniques while Bob uses his magical technological mary

sue weapon to heal.

It'd be neat if players could assign their ogre companion to follow an assigned ally

around and throw heals at other nearby allies while the other character used, I don't

know, long range bandage technology or a healing spray cannon.

I don't know.

The third spec will be a melee spec, and it wouldn't be right if Bill was clubbing enemies

with his ranged weapon while Bob played cheerleader.

Instead Bob - that is, your ogre - will be the controllable character and Bill is now

a sort of companion that follows him.

Bob will inherit the same stats as Bill even though Bill is wearing all the gear, including

whatever weapon he uses unless an artifact-like weapon system will be used in the future.

Imagine finally playing as an ogre in a power suit or Titan-made pneumatic fists, letting

you wail on enemies with phenomenal cosmic power.

Meanwhile Bill supports you with suppression fire to slow enemies, tosses you a bandage

or paints a target for additional damage.

Or is a cheerleader

There's a question I still haven't quite answered.

Why make a new class anyway?

There're some valid arguments to counter the idea, such as the expected bloat when

it comes to balancing the additional specs that this class will bring.

There's the expected opinion that this or any new class just wouldn't be very attractive

for a lot of players.

But let's assume that Blizzard would be happy with the specs that this class would

bring.

It behooves them to deal with balance challenges.

It's not for fans like you and I to feel sorry for Blizzard and be like "there there

it's okay, you don't have to do it if it's too hard."

In conversations about class balance Blizzard has repeatedly reminded us that there are

over 30 specs to juggle around, but I don't think that the purpose behind that statement

is for us to sympathize with how difficult their work is, but just to have a bit of empathy

for the work they do regardless of the difficulty.

If Blizzard wants to give us a new class and it feels right to deliver it, they'll do

it with full understanding of their newfound burdens.

Anyway, this class will answer a few concerns for players:

We'll get the first added ranged spec into the game, significant now that Survival Hunters

are now a melee spec.

We'll get the second healing spec after Mistweaver Monks.

Players can play as Ogres.

A certain desire for a technology-based class can be fulfilled, depending on the theme.

A new class as opposed to adding specs to existing classes allows for wild interpretations

of class fantasy as well as a chance for designers to stretch their imaginations, create new

tech and not feel limited by the already existing class.

The idea of say, a Shadow Hunter or a Dark Ranger sounds neat as a spec for Hunters,

Rogues or even Demon Hunters.

But how much of a departure would that spec be from the inner core of those classes?

This is just an example, of course, but my point is that a new class, especially one

unencumbered by expansion themes, is a blank slate designers can use to think up all sorts

of crazy ideas.

Hey I was absent last week

Did you guys do anything?

Did we do anything in class the past week?

Did we do anything in class the past week? No.

No. No can't say we did.

No. I thought about it.

But I saw you weren't here

I figure what's the point in moving on with the curriculum you know?

The first few days I showed a movie,

but then everyone grew depressed thinking you may not return

so I took the students to the fair on Wednesday

tried to cheer them up, rode many rides ate lots of

fried foods but still couldn't fill that void that was left in our hearts

I contacted the county on Thursday, tried to get them to push back the curriculum

you know, maybe extend the school year so we could cover everything when you return

but they were extremely busy mourning your unavailability

some considering cancelling the school year altogether

Friday, Friday, Friday...

it was a complete wash, everyone was taking part in the massive search party

the students searched the woods but I thought more highly of you

i searched the nearby library confident I would find you buried in a book

desperately trying to bring up your failing grade

so you don't fall through the cracks of society

find yourself confined to a life of minimum wage jobs

binge watching Honey Boo Boo episodes on a borrowed Hulu password

living off 7-11 ketchup packets and shopping mall bourbon chicken samples

wondering where your life went wrong.

you know, since you've made such stellar life choices up to this point in time.

but alas, we were both wrong. You never showed up

thus the whole week was scrapped and I only hope

that your grade doesn't suffer nearly as much as we did in your absence

so no, nothing

ok, cool thanks

Russia reveals export ambitions for MiG-35 to friendly countries including India - Duration: 3:25.

Russia has rolled out its first RAC MiG-35 fighter and announced its intention to offer the multirole type to a host of potential export customers, including India.

Staged at the airframer's Lukhovitsy site near Moscow on 27 January, the milestone event was attended by officials including Russian air force chief Col Gen Victor Bondarev and delegations from more than 30 countries.

United Aircraft identifies these as having including representatives from nations including China, India, Peru and Vietnam.

Flight testing of the MiG-35 has also begun, with RAC MiG test pilots reporting a first sortie as having shown that "all systems worked normally".

To be capable of performing air-to-air, air-to-surface and anti-ship strike missions, the new model features a reduced radar cross section and an enhanced self-protection suite, according to its developer.

Russia's air force has previously expressed interest in acquiring an initial batch of up to 37 MiG-35s, with deliveries expected from around 2018, but Bondarev says: "Within some time we shall replace all light fighter aircraft with this type." Flight Fleets Analyzer records the service as today operating 258 earlier-generation MiG-29s.

RAC MiG had proposed the MiG-35 during India's medium multirole combat aircraft competition, before the type was ruled out of contention for the potentially 126-unit deal. New Delhi ultimately acquired 36 Dassault Rafales, but has identified a new requirement for an additional light fighter, with the Lockheed Martin F-16 and Saab Gripen E as likely candidates.

Russia's deputy prime minister, Dmitry Rogozin, says Moscow is ready to again offer the MiG-35 to New Delhi, under the terms of its "Make in India" industrial strategy. A bilateral industry conference is to be held in the potential customer nation early this year, he reveals, to cover aspects including joint ventures, production and maintenance.

Fleets Analyzer shows India's air force as already operating 66 MiG-29s, with another 507 of the type in current use with 24 other export customers.

Meanwhile, Rogozin used the roll-out event to announce that United Aircraft will perform the first flight of the developmental Ilyushin Il-112 military transport around mid-2017. The twin-turboprop design will have a cargo capacity of about 5t.

Ultimate Lance Guide - Tips and Tricks (Brawlhalla) - Duration: 12:46.

Here is the frame data for all the Lance attacks including start up frames, active frames,

recovery frames, total frames and I even included the damages.

I've highlighted certain data that I've found to be worth mentioning in the video

so keep them in mind if you want to.

Neutral light is a great move against short to mid ranged weapons from unarmed to sword

and axe.

Feel free to use this move whenever enemies with those weapons are on the ground at decent

range from you because this move outranges them and has very low recovery time so when

used correctly, it is rarely punished by short to mid range weapons.

I personally use this move the most versus enemies that are using short to mid ranged

weapons and are more grounded.

Side light is a great punish move against any types of weapons.

It has slightly shorter range than the neutral light but the lance user pushes the attack

forward letting it reach twice the distance of neutral light.

It will still outrange most short to mid-range attacks but it's much riskier than neutral

light because after it finishes, the user will still move forward a little bit during

it's recovery time which is 80% longer than the side light recovery is.

This makes side light very easy to punish when you miss.

That's why I only use this if the enemy has just missed an attack or I predict an

obvious dodge.

Sometimes I'll just dodge forward into a side light against enemies who have a tendency

to wait and then back dodge when they see you make a move, especially the sword and

hammer back dodge into down light players.

Side light can combo into side air, recovery, down air and neutral air for a lot of damage

so if you think you can land an easy side light then it is always preferable to the

other attacks because of it's high combo damage potential.

Down light is probably the safest lance attack.

It moves the user backwards and has the same range as side light at the end.

It also has a crazy amount of hitboxes that last just about as long as a dodge is.

Which is why it is really good as a dodge in or spot dodge punish.

It can also instantly counter and punish attacks with narrow downward range such as hammer,

gauntlet, katar and spear down airs.

If an enemy with one of these weapons like to engage from above like this then you can

down light to quickly move out of the range while putting out hitboxes where you were

meant to be, making it so the enemy will get hit once they miss the down air and fall into

the down light.

Neutral air is a very flexible move because of its wide range of hitboxes and being the

only lance attack that lets you steer left and right as you see fit.

So against any weapons, you can throw it out and back off safely if you miss.

This is usually good if you think the enemy will dodge or jump forward above you as many

try to do in order to avoid the long reach of side air and down air.

I run into this the most against katars, sword and axe users where they try to double jump

above the side air or down air.

This doesn't work too well against long range weapons like guns, spear and bow though

because they try to get higher than the neutral air can reach since they have longer range.

Even though the neutral air hitboxes extends all the way to the back, you mostly want to

aim for the front hitboxes to hit because they come out first and therefore the hardest

to react to.

But the back hitboxes can be very useful for protecting you.

If you start the neutral air when the enemy is in front of you, you can steer backwards

to create distance in case you miss.

But if you start the neutral air right next to or even below the enemy then moving back

doesn't help much but moving forward will create more hitboxes between you and the enemy.

So even if the enemy manages to get behind you when you start neutral air, they can still

be hit by it if you move forward.

If not then they will be less likely to follow and punish you because the hitboxes will be

in the way.

So using neutral air whenever the enemy is above you in general is very safe and often

rewarding to do.

Side air is a great anti jump move because it covers so much space above the enemy.

So if you think the enemy is about to jump then jump first into side air so that they'll

jump into your side air.

Also has great range that can outrange anything except gun side light and side air.

It also moves forward and reaches as far as side light so you can contest almost anything

horizontally with side air from quite a distance away.

I like to use side air to contest against light attacks on the ground a lot.

It's also great for punishing missed attacks or back dodges just like side light.

It's not all fun and games with this move though because it's probably the most easy

to punish move on lance.

The hitboxes are very skinny so as long as the enemy is above or below it a decent amount

then it'll miss.

On top of that, you move forward during the recovery time similar to side light but by

a bit more.

You end up just a tiny bit behind the farthest range of the side air.

So any weapon can punish you from any direction easily.

It also has pretty slow start up and recovery frames as well so it's easy to see coming

and easy to punish.

So this move should be used with a purpose in mind rather than for simple spacing.

Down air is very similar to the side air in terms of range, hitboxes and reach.

The only difference is that it angles downward a bit more and hits stacked, which means on

top of you, unlike the side air.

So you can use this very similar to side air in terms of using it as an anti jump move

and a long range punish.

Down air has decent start up time for an air attack while being able to hit stacked so

it's much more reliable when you're fighting up close, like if the enemy dodges very close

to you then you can use down air to possibly catch them.

Another benefit of this is that you will move away from them at a diagonal angle so it'll

be harder for them to punish when you miss.

Same thing if you want to engage with it in the cases that the enemy is jumping slightly

out of your range hoping to catch you missing.

You can speed dodge on top of them and then use down air to catch them at the top of the

jump or as they are falling backwards.

And overall downair is a lot safer to use than side air because it goes at an angle

that most weapons can't counter against.

The ones that can counter it though, you shouldn't use down air against much.

They include axe, katars and bow because they all have strong upward diagonal attacks.

Recovery is a great move to contest or engage with against anyone that's diagonally above

you because it has great range that can beat any attack diagonally except for bow down

air.

It's also a lot safer than the other attacks that moves the user forward because it has

decent recovery frames and instead of moving forward constantly during the recovery, you're

going to be falling downwards away from the direction you attacked, which makes it harder

to punish if the enemy was diagonally above you.

That's why I use this move very often against enemies who tends to jump above me a lot and

I almost never get punished for it.

In fact it's so hard to punish that sometimes I throw it out randomly just so the enemy

will try to punish me but then I hit them with another attack instead.

In general this move should be used quite a lot whenever the enemy is diagonally above

you.

The lance ground pound is one of the best ground pounds in the game.

It has one of the best downward speeds right behind sword and katars ground pound speed.

A decent hitbox and (skip first one) good force so using it for edge guarding is great.

When using it, there's two big things to keep in mind.

The hitboxes covers half your hitboxes and a bit in front of you so you want to face

your enemy when groundpounding.

For example, the enemy is hugging the wall, so you can either jump slightly off the edge

of the platform and then ground pound or jump a decent distance off the edge and then turn

around into ground pound to hit the side wall.

The second thing is that its so fast that just by using ground pound, you're going

to move very far downwards without even holding down the attack button.

Simply jumping off the edge into ground pound without holding down will cover the whole

side wall in every 1 v 1 map except kings pass which it still covers most of.

So be careful about holding it for too long.

Also because of this, you almost never want to use this on top of the main platform because

unless you're at three jumps height then you will hit the ground which increases recovery

time and makes it easy to punish.

So stick to using this for edge guarding for the most part.

Now I'm going to be going over some useful tips and tricks for Lance that can help your

overall Lance gameplay.

At higher ranks, people tend to wait for lance to attack from far away because the moves

are easy to see coming and easy to punish so you'll often see people jump constantly

slightly backwards like this and even dodge if you recklessly do an attack.

During these cases its best to just jump forward into their attack zone and then hit where

you think they'll jump or dodge to.

This is safe against those players because they have the mindset that you'll attack

from far away and then they just move out of the way to punish you instead of attacking

you first.

So moving up to them instead of attacking and then attacking will catch them off guard

while being safe at the same time.

I often do this the most with speed dodge forward neutral air because it covers a lot

of area above which is where enemies tend be be when they're jumpy like that.

But it really depends on how the enemy reacts.

If the enemy tends to jump dodge backwards in the air then you can jump forward into

speed dodge side air to reach them.

If they back off and dodge on the ground then you can jump forward, speed dodge into down

air.

If they simply try to double jump away really high up then double jump forward as well while

moving under them into neutral air.

The idea is that Lance is a weapon that can force the enemy to attempt a dodge at very

far range where they can't even counter attack.

Which is why it's best to use that to your advantage by simply moving towards the enemy

without attacking to make them waste dodge because they expect an attack and then punish

them for it.

But if you do this too much then ofcourse they'll see it coming and just hit you when

you get too close since you'll just be running into their attack zone.

That's why it's really important to be able to switch between contesting and punishing

the enemy to predicting where they'll jump or dodge away so that you can push forward

and make them waste a dodge which will give you a huge advantage.

Mixing between these two tactics makes it much harder for the enemies to react to you.

Down light is the shortest start up attack on Lance so it's very good to follow up

a lot of attacks with down light since it also repositions the user making it harder

to punish.

It's especially good after using a neutral light because neutral light has very low recovery

frames so using neutral light into down light has very little opening from the front.

If you can, try to make use of the fact that side air and down air takes you forward by

using it right next to the enemy a lot.

Even though they can both reach very far, it's not good to always use them at max

range since it means that enemies can see it coming easier and therefore can punish

you easily.

But when you use the attacks up close then if it misses then the attacks will carry you

away from the enemy rather than closer to them making it more difficult to punish.

The best way to do this would be to just speed dodge close to them and then use side air

or down air.

And if you're able to speed dodge past them then do it into turn around side air or down

air.

This really messes with the enemy and could even make them attack in the wrong direction

because one second you're dodging behind them and the next you're side airing behind

them again.

I do this a lot against enemies who prioritizes jumping around waiting for you to mess up.

It makes them confused and try to punish you unsuccessful making it easier to catch them.

It can also force out a dodge as I mentioned earlier making it easier to punish as well.

When you're trying to recover to the platform, make sure you use side air frequently because

it moves you forward while not losing any height at all.

(ignore last one And if you're hit downwards and need even more height, then jump between

the side airs because you can't constantly side air since there's a cool down added

to the next time you can use the same move again.

So ideally you would use side air, jump, side air and then jump again.

If all that's not enough then use recovery.

A lot of you have probably seen how you can simply be blocked if the enemy sees your recovery

coming and then you're screwed.

But if the enemy does that then you will gain a speed dodge for hitting the enemy, so just

use that to close the distance while getting some free damage off.

I also recommend not charging the recovery for the whole second if you really don't

want to get blocked.

This makes it a lot harder to predict and give the enemy less time to get into position

to block.

If you do decide to charge it for the whole second though, consider charging it while

facing away from the side wall.

You will likely get dodge back since charging takes a second off the air dodge cool down

and from there you can simply dodge towards the platform or even straight up into side

air to get back easily.

If your dodge doesn't come off cool down and you're out of jumps, side air after

the recovery to buy more time for dodge.

Down light has very little force and a decent amount of recovery frames so it's always

a good idea to follow up with a down light.

There's two follow ups I like to use the most, one, is jump into side air in case the

enemy jumps or dodges upwards.

The other is chase dodge into side light which you can combo for more damage with, so it's

very rewarding in case the enemy dodges backwards.

And here is the 0 to death string on lance that is really popular.

It's side light into side air into chase dodge straight forward down air, into jump

side air into jump side air.

All of the actions should be done pretty quickly of each other with little delays in between.

It takes a lot of practicing to get used to and remember that it's only a string and

it practically never works against players who are more experienced against it.

This string could be avoided at any time with a dodge after the first side air, a jump during

the down air, or just not jumping during the last two side airs.

I do frequently get the down air part off on players around diamond level and once I

got the second side air off which was enough to gimp enemy.

This string pretty much relies on good execution and the enemy not knowing how to dodge and

jump or fall out of it.

Improving Your Crochet Tension - Duration: 3:34.

Hello crochet fans! Tashia Butterfield here.

Alpaca ranch and crochet instructor with

Forever Bliss Crochet. Today we're

talking about how to improve your

tension in crochet. Now, the tension is

the job of your non-dominant hand. For

those of you who are right-handed, like

me, that's going to be our left hand.

Naturally, if you're left-handed, that's

going to be your right hand. The job of

your non-dominant hand is to control the

tension of the yarn as it goes to your hook.

What is tension? Tension is how tight or

how loose your yarn is. If you're having

trouble with your tension, there are a

couple of things that are likely going on.

First of all, don't get so caught up in

what your hook is doing that you are not

paying attention to your yarn hand. Your

yarn hand is just as important as your

hook hand. There are a number of things in

crochet in which there is no right or

wrong way to do something and how you

hold your yarn in your non-dominant hand

is one of those things. There is no right

or wrong way.

However you managed to find the solution

to maintain your tension is the way that

you should hold your yarn. So let's start

off with a hold that kind of right down

the middle. It's actually the way that I

hold it. And then, from there, I'll show

you how to tighten or how to loosen your

tension. So I start by taking my pinky

behind the yarn and I wrap my pinky

around it. If you know sign language,

think of the J letter. Wrap it around

your yarn. And then I take the part that

is going to my hook and I place in

between my index finger and my middle

finger. And lay that yarn right over the

index finger. As you can see the yarn

freely move through my hand. That is

essential for maintaining good tension.

If your yarn is not moving through your

hand, you're not making any stitches

because once you make a stitch there's

no new yarn for your hook to use.

If you find this method too tight, here is

something that you can do. You can wrap

your yarn around your index finger twice.

I would not recommend more than twice

because you run the risk of cutting off

circulation to your finger. For some people,

wrapping around the index finger is all

that's needed. Remember, all that needs to

happen is your yarn moving a

consistent way through your hand.

If you find the first hold to be too loose,

here's something that you can do. After

you wrapped your pinky, go ahead and

weave it through all of your fingers.

And then hold. So that's three different yarn

holds to get you started and experiment

with. Remember, any little alteration that

you do is going to be just fine as long

as you are maintaining your yarn control

through your hands. The yarn is able to

move freely yet you are controlling how

fast that yarn is actually getting to

move. If you'd like more crochet tips and

Dara, 18, the patch - Duration: 2:20.

my name is Dara I'm 18 and I'm using Xulane lane the patch method of birth control

you know i love to go to concerts and

paint and educate I'm a peer educator so

I'm just a teenager teaching other teens

about sti's and birth control methods

and healthy relationships when I was in

Middle School I actually went on the pill

just because I was having really

really bad periods and it was the only

thing that really helped me like control

my cycle once I like became sexually

active though the pill stopped working

for me just because you know you forget

to take it every single day and it just

got a little imbalanced with my life so

I switched over to the patch which is

awesome because you only have to change

it every week so it's a lot harder to

forget and it works better for me the

patch is just like this little adhesive

you can stick it like on your shoulders

your hips your butt your stomach

I love the patch it's the perfect level

of hormones for me which is awesome as

somebody who kind of uses it not just as a

contraceptive but it really does help me

have definitely recommend it to other

people my age because it's so easy to

use

I think one of the most common things

that I get about it is like are you

worried about people seeing it on you

like I've never had that though because

I kind of put it like right on my hip

even if I was wearing a bikini I want to

like show or anything

my parents are supportive now that they

know about it because at first like I

was getting it from my teen clinic and

they could pay for it but they dropped

it because it doesn't work for every

woman either like the patch it only

works for somebody up to a certain BMI

so that's definitely something to

consider when you're thinking about

switching right now I'm monogamous with

my partner so i don't really worry about

STIs i think condoms are really awesome

though and it's definitely something to

keep in mind when you're using birth

control is that it

doesn't cover you against everything I

think as a teenager I feel like not even

as a teenager people forget about that a

lot barrier methods are awesome
