Waching daily Feb 16 2017

About three years ago I became the national coach of the United States International Math

Olympian Team.

I was very happy for a day thinking this is very interesting.

But the next day I started to think that maybe I should do something with this.

And I decided that I wanted to focus not only on training an elite group of students but

trying to do as much as I could to boost the baseline mathematics capability in this entire

country.

Unfortunately I had no money, no connections and only one person.

So the only thing I knew was mathematics, algorithms and this probability and network

theory.

So after thinking for some time I actually came to an idea which was based on using these

core mathematical areas that I'd been working with to actually build a solution for education

that could be delivered for free on every smart phone.

This is actually the project I'm working on right now called Expii.

Our principle is that actually you could turn that smart phone into a virtual tutor which

automates what a person would get if they hired a tutor.

It wouldn't be as good as a tutor, but it could get very close.

And if you could deliver a free almost tutor on every smart phone in the United States

you might solve equity problems, you might be able to allow everyone, even if they live

in a different ZIP Code, to be able to access this tutor, which previously had only been

accessible to people who are quite wealthy.

Because today the cost of a tutor is in the $30 an hour, $20 an hour, $50 an hour depending

on how you look at it.

If you can reduce that to zero dollars an hour you would actually open up this accessibility

to everyone.

If we realize that what we're trying to build is this virtual tutor then you actually, again,

can start to conceptualize well knowledge happens to be all of these concepts linked

together in this network.

Then the problem becomes if you have this network how do you mathematically analyze

where a person should go next?

That can be done by using probability and statistics to find new ways to measure how

much each person understands about each concept.

Statistics, because the way that one would measure this is by asking them questions.

The experience someone has is they indicate what they want to learn and then the system

starts to pitch questions at them, questions that they would need to know how to answer

in order to understand what they claim they want to understand.

As the questions come, based on people's responses to the questions, the system adjusts the difficulty

of the questions and where the next questions come from in the same way that a human tutor

adjusts their line of questioning based on whether a person is successful or not successful

at the previous question.

If the student reaches a point where they are hopelessly confused, meaning they don't

know how to do this question at all, then the system suggests that maybe they could

read some explanations.

As you can see it turns the lesson flow upside down.

It's not that the class comes first and then the homework and then the exam, the first

thing that comes is the exam essentially followed by these practice problems, which adapt to

you, followed by the class for anything that you don't know.

The idea is that this should cure boredom at the high end and also cure confusion at

the struggling end.

I actually started this with a brilliant Carnegie Mellon undergraduate student and then the

two of us built this system together.

But when you start with no resources you need to think of ways to actually generate all

of this content in a way which doesn't cost enormous amount of resources.

And we took inspiration from Wikipedia.

Our system aggregates all of the questions and explanations that anyone in the world

might want to contribute, uses voting like a website called Quora in order to find out

which content is strong, and uses statistics, the algorithms, to figure out what questions

are easy and difficult.

So actually in the end it turns out that it sucks in all of this content, it licenses

it all with the creative commons license like Wikipedia and then puts it all across on a

platform that anyone with a smart phone can use.

So as we keep developing these mathematics and algorithms our goal is actually to deliver

free education to all of the world using a system that self-organizes in the same way

that mathematics self-organizes from its basic assumptions.

ESRB Description For Persona 5 Revealed - Duration: 2:42.

Salutations!

Mojo from Censored Gaming here!

Persona 5, the latest instalment in Atlus's hit RPG franchise, is quickly approaching

its Western release date of April 4th, 2017.

In the game, you and your band of vigilante's fight various dark forces with Personas, manifestations

of your psyche, while balancing school and social life.

With its release not far away, the ESRB has at last revealed the title's rating summary,

detailing what exactly earned the game its Mature rating.

It should be mentioned that previously, Censored Gaming contacted John Hardin, Atlus's PR manager,

and asked if any content would be censored.

Hardin said that there were no content edits within the game, outside of the scope of the

usual text localization.

So, as well as gaining insight into how the ESRB views certain content, we can now take

a look at the summary and see the sort of things that Western fans will be able to experience

completely uncensored.

One aspect detailed in the summary is the game's violence.

Several cutscenes depict characters ripping off facial masks as blood sprays and one scene

has a character shooting another at close range, with the camera showing the victim's

blood pouring out of their body and onto the floor.

Also detailed are examples of sexuality.

It mentions that some of the female characters and personas expose their breasts.

It also mentions that a handful of monsters and personas have phallic shaped heads, torsos,

and appendages.

One such example of a persona with a phallic design is Mara, the giant green penis shaped

monster that rides on a golden chariot.

In addition to their appearance, certain persona's descriptions also make references to sexuality,

such as the persona Succubus, whose description details that she visits sleeping men and women

and has sex with them.

There's also sexual references in dialogue.

One such example is when the game mentions that a political character forced women to

sleep with him to "move up in the ranks".

A side quest which discussing drug smuggling in the mafia is also mentioned and, lastly,

there's the game's strong language and that various swear words, including "Fuck", are

used in dialogue.

The Shin Megami Tensei franchise is no stranger to receiving Mature ratings in the US.

All versions of Persona 3 and 4, for example, also received Mature ratings for similar reasons

of sexuality and violence.

Persona 5 will release worldwide on April 4th this year on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation

4 consoles.

This has been Mojo and I hope you have a spectacular night.

First you're going to want to shake the

bottle really well then you're going to

hang the clean wet or dry garment up.

Spray 5 - 10 inches from the garment in a

well ventilated area. Make sure you apply

a lot to high wear areas like the shoulders

and the cuffs. Then you're going to

tumble dry on medium heat until dry or

you can also air dry for 48 hours and

walah! Your item is now waterproofed!

MoneyCoach for Partners Walkthrough - Duration: 10:04.

Hello there.

I'm Paul Zakin CEO of MoneyCoach, and today, I'm going to give you a quick walkthrough

of the MoneyCoach for Partners system.

So, assuming you've give us your organizational info, which you can do on our partners page.

you should be now getting an email which contains the email and password for your admin account.

Let's go find that email.

So this is the email.

As you can see, it contains all the information you need to log on to your account.

Let's log on now.

This is the MoneyCoach login page, and as you can see, it's actually already been co-branded

to a fictional university, called State University, with its own colors and logos.

Of course, if this was your organization, these would be your colors and your logos.

So let's login.

I'm literally just going to copy and paste the information from the email to this page.

Perfect.

Here is the admin page.

As you can see, it's a lot to take in, so let's go through it step-by-step.

First is the admin panel.

It contains four numbers: total students, percent complete, module finished, and hours

spent, and you can hover over the question mark on each one to see exactly what each

number means.

On a high-level, the admin panel simply aggregates all the numbers your students generate while

using the site.

Right now all these numbers are 0, which makes sense.

After all, you currently don't have any users.

However, as more users are added, these numbers will go up.

Let's now turn our attention to the manage users tab, specifically the add user button

and the table.

When you click on the add user button, a modal is spawned.

This modal contains instructions and a specialized registration link.

Anyone who registers through this registration link will be automatically added to your organization.

Thus, adding users actually is really easy.

You just give the link to whomever you want to join your organization, they go through

the usual account creation process, and then, they're added to your organization

Let's now go to the table.

This table, while empty now because you have no students, will fill up progressively as

more and more students join.

For example, it will say Paul Zakin has completed twenty percent of modules and spent two hours

on the site.

Speaking of completing modules, it's probably time now that we cover how to

assign modules, which you can do on the modules tab.

Let's go there now.

MoneyCoach has 18 modules covering everything from taxes to student loans to investing.

Each module is made up of animated videos and the associated quizzes.

Let's click on the add module button now.

This contains all the modules; taxes, loans, spending plans, etc.

Let's add the taxes module.

Great.

That means that for all new users, as well as all existing users, the taxes module has

now been assigned to them.

If of course you want to delete this module, you can simply click the black button in the

top right hand corner.

Also you can add as many or as little modules that you want, it's totally up to you.

Let's now go to the message users tab.

This is a bit complicated, so it's helpful to break it down step by step.

All organization accounts start with the general thread.

This thread is special.

It can't be renamed, it can't be deleted, and users can't post on this thread.

However all users are automatically subscribed to this thread, which makes it a great place

to post announcements.

In fact, let's do that now.

Perfect, your first announcement.

In addition, you can also create other threads outside the general thread.

Let's do that now.

We called this thread mortgage, but you can call it whatever you want.

Unlike the general thread, this thread can be deleted, renamed, and most importantly,

all users can post on the thread.

This makes it much more flexible than the general thread.

So perfect.

That's most of the admin functionality.

Let's now go see what things are like from a user perspective.

So we're going to go back to the manage users tab, grab the registration link, logout, and

log back in as a user.

So this is the MoneyCoach registration page.

There are three main ways to create an account.

You can log on with Facebook, you can log on with Google, or you can create an account

through our system

All three are treated equally by us.

However, login with Facebook or Google is much easier, as you don't need to create a

new account, you can simply rely on your existing credentials.

For simplicity purposes, let's log on with Google.

Perfect.

This is the profile page.

Like the admin page, it's a lot to take in, so let's go through step-by-step.

On the top-left hand corner we have our email, the link which we can put our profile, and

our profile picture.

I personally prefer the snail, so I'm going to change it right now.

On the top-right hand corner we have the financial health bar, which will rise or fall depending

on how well you are meeting your financial goals.

Finally, on the bottom, we have the tab bar.

This looks very similar to the admin bar and that's purposeful, as most of the

features are the same.

Let's now go to current modules tab, which we're on now.

As you can see, the taxes module has already been assigned, and you can see that from the

lock on the upper right hand corner.

However, if you want to add a module that hasn't been assigned yet, you're totally

able to.

Let's add bank accounts.

As you can see, the only difference between the taxes and the bank accounts module is

the icon.

For bank accounts, it's a black minus.

That simply means that you can delete the module whenever you want, whereas you can't

for taxes because it's assigned.

Let's delete the bank accounts module.

Perfect.

So we've talked a lot about how to add and delete modules, but we haven't really talked

about how the progress is recorded, so let's explain that through the taxes module.

First, we need to go to the taxes video page, which we'll do now.

Here, as you can see, are all three videos associated with the Taxes 101 module.

When you finish a video, a black screen will pop up, giving you two options, the ability

to watch the next video or to take a quiz.

When that black screen pops up, you know that your video progress has been recorded.

Let's see that right now.

There it is, the black screen.

Now we know that our video progress has been recorded.

Let's now click on the take quiz icon.

You'll see that that redirected us to a quiz associated with this video.

While we're not going to do this quiz right now, in the interest of time, if we were to

do the quiz and score highly enough, this progress

would also be recorded.

Let's now go back to the profile page and see what's changed.

As you can see, our tax video progress has been recorded.

We have finished one of three tax videos.

If we were to complete all three videos, as well as all three quizzes for this module,

this module will be considered complete, and that will be reflected in the admin panel

for this student.

Finally, let's go check out the announcement tab.

As you can see, we currently have one unread announcement, which makes total sense.

That is the announcement we posted earlier as an admin.

Let's click on the tab now.

You'll see that it looks very similar to the admin page.

We're currently on the general thread, and there's the message we posted earlier as an

admin.

If we were to try to post a message on the general thread, we would be unable to.

However, we can post on the mortgage thread, which we'll do now.

Perfect.

Everyone can see the message.

So that's basically the user profile functionality.

Now let's return to the admin page and see what's changed.

So great, we're back on the admin page.

As you can see, the admin panel now reflects this new reality.

We have one total student, who has completed 0% of his modules, and that is also reflected

in the table below.

Finally, I just want to draw your attention to the bright red button in the table.

If you were to click that button, you would delete the user, though, be careful, this

is permanent and if that the user was to rejoin later, they would have to redo all of their

progress.

Hopefully you've enjoyed our walkthrough of the MoneyCoach for Partners system.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us on our contact page.

Also, if you want to join the MoneyCoach for Partners platform, please feel free to reach

out to us on our partners page.

Reducing Image Size For Web with Pixlr - Duration: 2:00.

in this video we're going to show you

how to reduce the size of an image so go

to pixlr.com/editor open image

from computer double click on that image

go to image image size so you'll see

that this is an incredibly large image

so we want to reduce it pretty

significantly so this is fine for

printing something but for going on a

website it would take a really long

time to load this big of an image so

when deciding how large you want the

image to be just to take into

consideration what the purpose of it is

so if it's something that's going to go

across the entire screen or is it just

going to be something going inside the

content so for this example let's just

say we just want to kind of a smaller

image something's going inside the

content we're going to do 600 pixels

make sure this constraint proportions is

checked so this automatically enters the

height if you enter a width or let's say

well actually I know that I want the

image to be 450 pixels high it'll

automatically entered the width press ok

file save this is automatically going to

be 80 here which reduces the quality but

that's a good thing for websites we want

to have web quality so again this isn't

for printing press ok

save your image and now we can see if we

take a look at these two this has this

is 6.3 megabytes and this one is only

106.9 kilobytes so this one's

going to load a lot faster and the user

experience can be a lot better

Jeep Wrangler FOX 2.0 Performance Series IFP Steering Stabilizer (1997-2006 TJ) Review & Install - Duration: 6:53.

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the FOX 2.0

Performance Series IFP Steering Stabilizer, fitting all 1997-2006 TJs.

Today we're gonna talk through the installation of this steering stabilizer, which is a very

simple one out of three wrench installation.

You'll be able to get this bolted up to your Jeep in about an hour or less.

But we'll talk more about the install in just a second.

We're also going to talk through the construction and a few of the features of this steering

stabilizer.

Before purchasing a new steering stabilizer or more accurately a new steering dampener,

it's important to understand what this piece does.

What a steering stabilizer or dampener is designed to do, is to take the shock from

hitting a bump on the road or on the trail that would normally be transferred up the

steering linkage and into your steering wheel and dampen that down a little bit.

So, you feel a little bit less of that vibration.

That's all a steering stabilizer is designed to do.

Now, if you have a wobble, certainly if you have death wobble or if you have bump-steer,

you have other geometry issues going on in your steering linkage that need to be fixed.

A new steering stabilizer, especially an expensive one like this, will only cover up those issues

for a short period of time until you end up blowing out your new steering stabilizer and

you still have the same problems.

So, if you have a wobble or a death-wobble or a bump-steer, fix those problems, they

are diagnosable and they are fixable.

And then, if you need a new steering stabilizer, go ahead and get one.

Just because you've lifted your Jeep and/or put large tires on it, does not mean you need

to spend a bunch of money on a new steering stabilizer.

If you have a properly set up steering on your Jeep, a steering stabilizer is a luxury

and not a necessity, and it's not something that needs to be upgraded with a lift or big

heavy tires.

It's also not something that you need to spend a ton of money on.

For almost every application out there, an OEM steering stabilizer is going to be more

than enough, no matter what size tires or what sized lift you have.

So, if you are somebody who has a bent or broken steering stabilizer, and you're looking

to replace it, and you have FOX Performance 2.0 shocks on your Jeep, and you want your

steering stabilizer to match the rest of your shocks, then that's where this piece comes

in.

However, if you're just looking for something to function as your steering stabilizer, an

inexpensive OEM or OEM-style steering stabilizer is going to be more than enough.

Now, as far as steering stabilizers are concerned, this one is built very well, but again, there

are options out there that are still built well and are going to work, in my opinion,

even better than this one, and they are going to be drastically less expensive.

One hundred, $120 less than this steering stabilizer costs.

Now, why is this one so expensive?

Well, this is from FOX, which is a very well-known company who makes a really high-quality product.

And if we were talking about shocks, I would be recommending FOX.

I think they make a great product.

However, for a steering stabilizer, this is absolutely overkill.

Now, FOX does make a couple different series of their shocks, and this is the Performance

Series, which means the body of this steering stabilizer is going to be a 6061-T6 aluminum

that's covered in a clear anodized finish.

The shaft is going to be a steel alloy, this does have a Schrader valve on it so that you

can adjust the nitrogen charge inside of it.

It has really high-quality bushings.

This is a stabilizer that's going to last a long time.

It's going to hold up really well.

But the thing I don't like about this is that it is nitrogen-charged.

As you can see, on the table here, this is completely extended, and if I were to compress

the piston, it's gonna wanna work its way back out again, and that's because of the

nitrogen charge.

Now, if you picture where this goes on your Jeep, this is going to constantly be pushing

your steering in one direction or the other.

In this case, it'll be probably pushing your steering to the left all the time because

of that nitrogen charge.

A good steering stabilizer is simply a 5050-valve hydraulic shock, not a nitrogen charged one.

So, again, I don't like this because it has a nitrogen charge in it.

As far as the installation goes, as I mentioned before, a very simple one out of three wrench

install in about an hour.

All you'll need to do is unbolt your factory steering stabilizer from the drag link and

from its mount on the axle, and go ahead and reinstall your new one.

Now, the factory stabilizer is a press fit or a taper fit into your drag link.

So, that can be a little bit difficult to remove.

Now, hitting the drag link on the side is a good way to free up a taper fit.

You can also try using a pivot arm puller or a ball-joint press.

There are a few different methods for trying to remove that factory stabilizer from your

drag link.

Of course, you do want to be careful, you don't want to heat it up, you don't want to

bend the drag link, and you also don't want to flare the end of your factory stabilizer

so much that it won't fit through the drag link.

So, you do want to be a little bit careful.

Of course, spraying it with a good penetrating oil well before you've started will certainly

help out.

And once you do get that removed, again, it's very simple to bolt this one in place.

You're not gonna need any specialty tools, but do spray the factory stabilizer with a

good penetrating oil well before you get started, and have your hand tools handy.

As I said before, while this is a very well-built steering stabilizer, it, in my opinion, is

overbuilt for what it needs to be.

And, it's also nitrogen charged which adds to the cost and is not only not necessary,

but actually a detriment to a steering stabilizer.

So, if you're looking for a new steering stabilizer because yours is bent or broken, I would recommend

one that's more in the $50 range.

This steering stabilizer is $150.

I don't think it's necessarily not worth that cost because this does have the build quality.

It is an alloy, an aluminum alloy body, so I think that in some respects, it is deserving

of a higher price tag.

However, I don't think this is going to work as well as a less expensive steering stabilizer.

For most of you, this is really only going to be for those of you who have these Performance

2.0 shocks on your Jeep and you want a stabilizer that matches and you're okay having a lesser

performance from it.

So, again, if you have these FOX shocks on your Jeep, you want a stabilizer that matches,

this is going to be a good option for you.

If not, and you just have a broken or bent steering stabilizer, there are far less expensive

OEM or OEM-style stabilizers that I would recommend over this one.

So, that's my review of the FOX 2.0 Performance Series IFP Steering Stabilizer, fitting all

1997-2006 TJs, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Ask Howard Anything / February 2017 - Duration: 2:57.

For this month's Ask Howard Anything (AHA), we want to recognize that today is "A Day without Immigrants."

Many businesses in the US are closed today, February 16th, to show solidarity for immigrants who have

arrived here from other countries.

Immigrants work hard supporting such businesses and many businesses recognize that

their operations might not succeed without them.

To show the Government how crucial and important the immigrants are here in America, many businesses are

closed today to ask for more support and to welcome people from other countries here.

Right now, people who arrive here from other countries are facing difficult challenges by

the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE).

ICE is responsible for identifying and investigating people who do not have citizenship or residency papers.

Right now, there are many people who are afraid of ICE and not sure what to do.

Council de Manos produced great videos providing accessible content in American Sign Language

with information from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

The ACLU is a legal organization that protects the rights of many people in America, including immigrants.

Using ACLU's information,

Council de Manos translated them into ASL for the deaf and hard of hearing community.

The NAD is not well versed with immigration law but we have taken legal action against ICE in the past for not

providing access for deaf and hard of hearing people who have moved to America from other countries.

ICE is required by law to provide interpreters including CDIs, and other reasonable accommodations.

The NAD continues to remind ICE they must provide access.

If you or anyone you know has faced such situations, please let us know.

We will do our best to respond in a timely manner with the staff we have to help your situation.

If you require a lawyer who is an expert with immigration law, we can refer you to an appropriate

legal expert that is deaf friendly to advise you.

Providing referrals and connecting you with others are part of our services that the NAD offers.

We support people who have arrived here from other countries.

In honor of today's "A Day Without Immigrants," it is important that we support and welcome

deaf and hard of hearing immigrants from this time forward.

Thank you.

Story of the Day with Chris Hoeffel, CFO - Duration: 1:26.

Welcome to story of the day with Colony

American Finance, where we ask team

members to share their greatest

highlight or most memorable experience

working with real estate investors.

Today we've invited Christopher Hoeffel, CFO of

Colony American Finance to share his

unique perspective.

Chris has worked in the finance industry

since 1983 for companies like East Dill,

Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, and Investcorp.

Chris what's your most memorable story

at Colony American Finance? Chris: We were given

the opportunity to make a line of credit

to a couple in North Carolina, he was a

army veteran, retired, and she was a realtor,

but they didn't have a lot of

experience doing fix and flips. That's

what they wanted to do so we gave them

$500,000 line of credit. Their execution

on their business strategies have been

flawless. They've had tremendous success

buying and trading properties. They've come

back to us now, twice, increasing their

line from $500,000 to a million dollars,

and then recently we up'ed it to 2 million

dollars, so we're really happy that we've been

able to provide financing to this couple,

and they've been able to grow and create

a really interesting business for

themselves.

Colony American Finance is a
