4 Tips For Empaths - Duration: 4:13.

4 Tips For Empaths

By Dylan Harper

This article is specifically for those people who already know they are Empaths which

is far more involved than just having empathy. Most of you are not Empaths, lucky you, and

this will likely seem insignificant. Thats ok; Im writing this for those people who

read a previous article on the subject, and have been asking me to list the tips I referred

to in it. Im sorry it took so long for me to get around to it.

Im not going to give background on what an Empath is, other than to say its a specific

form of psychism and one that is particularly unpleasant to deal with on an ongoing basis.

There are, however, some tricks that can help one cope with it. They will seem simple and

obvious, but things that are simple and obvious often go unutilized, for some reason. Using

a smudge stick, for example. These can be used for prevention, but are mostly being

listed as a kind of cure, if you will, for when it all starts to really weigh you down.

There are ways to prevent yourself from being overwhelmed by this sort of thing, but if

youve only just learned that youre an Empath, its best to start here (energy

clearing). Ill try to get round to an article on preventing and blocking out negative energy

in the near future.

Take a Clary Sage bath.

This is the single most effective thing you can do to clear all that emotional funk away.

And I do mean bath a shower doesnt permeate in the same manner. You dont need

candles or anything else, just a nice hot bath and some privacy. Give it a good 15 minutes

and you will feel much, much better. I recommend it before going to bed, as you can carry all

that crap through your sleep and still wake up with it, otherwise. If you cant find

sage bubble bath, its ok, anything will work, I just really love the sage.

Breathe.

Wherever you are, stop what youre doing for 5 minutes and just breathe. You should

be inhaling through the nose and from the diaphragm. Slowly. And then you should be

exhaling slowly, through the lips dont just open your mouth and blow it all out.

Pretend youre blowing on a cup of hot coffee; thats the kind of blowing you want. Slow

and steady. Imagine that each time you inhale you are drawing all that crap up to the surface,

and then expelling it when you exhale. If you practice, that will be precisely what

you learn to do, eventually. Do not overdo it initially deep breathing can release

all kinds of emotional junk you werent previously cognizant of, and that will just

make you feel worse. Really, really worse. So take it slow until youre more skilled

at it. A few deep breaths is enough when youre just learning.

Smudge sticks.

Purifying your environment with a sage smudge stick is pretty good stuff. It stinks, in

my opinion, but a lot of people seem to like the smell. Regardless, its not the smell

that matters, but the way the sage clears the air. An Empath should be able to really

feel it as they walk around, its fairly tangible, really. Its good in a pinch,

when you dont have time to take a sage bath.

Drink something hot.

Tea, coffee, hot chocolate these will help you feel cleansed from the inside. Do

not, however, use soup or something of that nature for this purpose. Soups will have the

opposite effect, due to the additives, oil, and whatever else they contain

Accessibility for the 100% - Paul Zimmerman's keynote at Intranet Now - Duration: 19:07.

My name's Paul Zimmerman, I'm COO of a company called

Invotra. Invotra powers a lot of intranets

for UK Gov large departments, many

with tens of thousands of employees or

civil servants, and this is a

subject to us that that's kind of hit us

hard in the last year, and I'm going to tell you little bit

about why. So we're talking about user

experience for the hundred percent, or

another way to look at it is making your

intranet accessible to everyone. And

before I begin and feel free to correct

me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone

has actually mentioned the word

accessibility yet this morning so...

where's Lisa I'm looking for Lisa, but it's

quite possible you did okay great

I thought you did I thought I

there was one, it was you

sir thank you very much so I think

that's really interesting because with

the exception of that gentleman over

there in the corner on the left,

we're not really talking about this as a

subject and this is a... this is something to

deal with.

Ok. So user experience for the hundred

percent.

What does accessibility mean to you? Ok.

We talk about our intranets being

accessible but are they?

We say that they're compliant with the

double-a standards or maybe even triple

a standards...

What does that even mean? Let's talk

about some definitions, I'll throw some

definitions on the wall and you can have

a look at them

ok so accessibility definition: One way

to describe what accessibility means is

that it is the quality or characteristic

of something that makes it possible to

approach, enter or use. Now many of us in

the audience who would say that we're ux

fans, we like wireframes we like designing we like

designing good intranets right? But then

thats interesting because actually

accessibility is using the word 'use'

so then we must be forced to look at the

definition of usability. Usability: the

fact of something being easy to use or

the degree to which it is easy to use

and again let's go to the standard so

these standards that people talk about

double-a and triple-a standards what are

they?

Well there's 4 key tenants of

compliance, which are that you should be,

your your internet or your site should

be perceivable, they should be operable

they should be understandable and they

should be robust. But that's all well and

good but what do we mean by that? Is it

for all uses? Is it for back end users as

well so your admins? Who manages

your your internet and do they have

accessibility challenges with the way that

your intranet is managed? Is it for most of

the people in the head office or is it

for everyone and what precisely do you

mean by that?

It's um it's kind of easy to tick the

box of compliance and we thought we were

doing pretty well ourselves at Invotra, right?

Until about last year we had one of our

larger customers with more than 85,000

users. They said to us, we believe you

we think and believe that you're

compliant to double-a, ok? But you know

what we'd like you to do? We would like you

to go meet our users who are partially

blind, fully blind and we'd like you to

sit down with them and actually

experience what they go through.

We did that we went to Preston we went

to York we went to Leeds and Blackpool and

London and we've met with users who got

accessibility challenges and we were

kind of shocked right? So our products we

were Double A and we're proud of

ourselves and then we realized actually

having had our butt kicked

basically by the customer

that actually we had a lot of work to do.

And now what we do is we basically

reinvented ourselves on the subject of

accessibility. We invited a W3C champion

into our business and she sat down with

us, she also is an advisor to GDS and she

sat down with us and she said you know

what you're doing great!

Nine out of 10 for effort (this is before

we made any changes) 6 out of 10 on your

product, but the good news is that

Sharepoint is about a 3 out of 10.

So we were pleased, but we've put a huge

amount of effort in the last six months

or so into embracing accessibility and

particularly to us what that means is

talking about an accessibility

experience so at the outset I said user

experience for the hundred percent.

That's what I mean by this... AX, creating

an accessible experience. We start

thinking about this differently.

This is not just accessibility over on

the far side we deal with it it's the

last thing that we deal with at the end

of the day... actually we've talked about a lot

of other stuff, we come to accessibility

at the very end... This is actually

designing at the very front end your

intranet or your digital workplace so

that it is accessible for everyone.

Ok so we'd like to do something here

we'd like to encourage you to put

yourself in the shoes of your users. So

this is the time in the presentation

we are going "What are those things in

middle of the table?"

These are night masks... we obviously got

them for today. We'd like to encourage

you to to put those on and just what

you're doing that the point is here that

we want to encourage you to use your

ears.

What we'd like you to do is now to think

and firstly for those of you who do not

experience this, you're suddenly your

senses are heightened... obviously aside

from the sight you're probably picking up

a lot of other things that you wouldn't

normally pick up on. We'd like to

encourage you now to think about trying

to navigate online to buy a gift for

somebody and maybe you go to

a well-known e-commerce site and you're

looking for a gift And Ed I hope we're ready,

and I'm going to now give you the

experience of somebody who uses a screen

reader on a regular basis. The more my

people with the movement with the arrow

key ever imaginable cheap electronics

car especially collectibles compartment

morning little relegated electronicscar

session collectibles compounded more

political party they called

electronicscar specimens collected

search box and hope that silently a trap

then we'd have telling Pat moneypak

expect notifications ship at that

following plastics and secondly tactics

transaction that publicly shipshape

action-packed you pachi pachi pachi

pachi pachi pachi patra patra

essentially pack first button back to

look at japan's people that are pH maybe

it wasn't a copy editor is but. Ok now

keep them on now what you've heard there

is somebody going to Google, looking up a

card, a birthday card and then navigating

to again a well-known website which I

probably won't name we may have been

able to discern what it was, navigating

through categories tabbing through

categories. And that's a screen reader

experience and by the way that's a

pretty average speed and the reason I've

asked you to keep your masks on for a

second is because actually you need to

think about not being fluent, you're not

fluent in this language, okay? This is I

want you to think about being really

truly fluent in this language and I'm

going to call it a language because when

I first experiences I thought oh ok ok

this is this is actually somebody is

very fluent and this is a probably around

300 words four hundred words per minute vs

a hundred... 250 words per minute on the last

one. That that really work like that

full frontal

until these particles will be better and

only political party political

commentator Michael particle completely

that the contract little political

that's a little protective legislation

that protects our key that's better

There you go thank you very much you can

take your masks off now, and thank you very much for

participating. And I want to tell you

that when I first heard that I was

incredulous, I was like no way... there's no

way that somebody actually listens to a

screen reader that quickly and our

expert said to us

"oh yes we do" and the more I thought

about it the more I was like, okay

actually when I look at an intranet or

look at a website how many nanoseconds

it take for my eyes to render what's

happening on that website in no time at all.

You look at a website, for those of you

who have sight right you look at a

website and you can discern it within

seconds nanoseconds... you can discern

where you are and if you have to use a

screen reader then you are usually going

to be that fluent as well and so it

takes a lot to adjust your attitude in

terms of where you are with this as a

intranet manager, knowledge manager or

content person okay. And I would

encourage you to think like this: How

many words does it take to hear a page

right? And so that's an interesting subject

we suddenly are thinking

differently about how our content is

created right? And if you don't want to

believe us go talk to users who do, right?

Ask them to demonstrate it to you... go

talk to somebody.

We've got some some very big companies

here I've heard this morning household

names like PWC, Shell, Skanska... large

corporations and you will definitely

have throughout any size of organization

be it big or small you have users who are

who got accessibility challenges. So go

ask them, sit down with them talk to them

about their experiences right

and they will show you demonstrate to

you what they go through. The question of

responsibility is an interesting one... We

debated about this in in our company

in our office the other day.

Whose responsibility is it anyway? This

subject of affecting this, changing this

attitude, in fact actually meeting the

accessibility challenges. You could argue

that actually it is somebody else's job,

that this is the intranet provider, it

could be Microsoft's job if you're

SharePoint. And by the way I'm not

SharePoint so I don't really care about

them but a lot of you guys are right? Is

it Microsoft's responsibility? And the

answer is the way we think about this is

actually imagine you've got an old woman

who's going about to cross the streets, you

need help crossing the street there's no

one else around you see her she sees you.

And you are the one who's going to help

her across the street, the reality is

that it is you who can make your content

better.

Okay? You've got that responsibility, you

can do that you can make your content

better. We talked about this content is

king that is very true but also context

is very important too, right? Now imagine a

colleague who's in a wheelchair and you

come, he/she comes into your

building and you direct them to the

hallway down the end where the stairs

are ok? And in reality what you needed to do

was direct them in the exact opposite way

down the hallway to where the lift was.

That's context based on who that is.

Based on who's coming to your intranet

and using it and why.

Ok let's play a quick interactive game...

We've got a picture on the screen of

George Washington we've got some content

here underneath that and we'd like to

describe or talk about basically what

is the alt text you should use for this

image?

Firstly real quickly I'll read out the

content it says because of his role as

the commander-in-chief American forces

in the Revolutionary War and later the

first president of the United States

George Washington is often called the

father of his country and so the

question is what's the alt text that we

should put there. Right

is it a) an image of George Washington or

b)George Washington, the first

president of the United States; C) an

empty alt attribute, nothing you don't

need to put anything in there or D)

George Washington. Hands up if you think it's a)

great, hands up if you think it's b) good

c) an empty alt attribute a few... good,

excellent and d) George Washington.

Fairly even split and the reality is

it's probably D: George Washington for

a couple of reasons. You don't need to

say to somebody with accessibility

challenges that that actually is a picture

they'll be able to figure that out

ok. Now if it is actually a portrait like

a painting or something like that then

there's context there and you probably

want to say that.

Ok? But for right now you don't

necessarily need to say that but there

are other things here about that content

that you just heard or read that

actually are not in here, right? Things

like it doesn't describe the fact that

there is actually a photo of George

Washington right adjacent to the article

ok so that's what we mean by context and

and also let me just point out that

actually this is the respondents in

our company so fifty-seven percent of

the people got it wrong in our company

when we asked the same question. But

actually, let me leave you with this...

How do you...for intranet users... how do you

describe from an alt text standpoint what

a pie chart is and the results okay so

I'll leave you with that because

actually a photograph of George

Washington or a painting is fairly simple.

Try using something that you use every

day in your lives in your corporate

world right?

What's the experience for your

colleagues? I'll give you an example of

something that is a real sort of bug

bear. You're compliant? Sure... you've ticked the

box if you've got drop downs and

you've got them able to be read by a

screen reader but once you've got a

thousand items in your drop-down (this is

not unheard of by the way) if you've ever seen

a really bad internet hands up?

Yeah okay something you've got more than

more than an easy number of tabs or

faceting on the left-hand side to go

through.

Suddenly that becomes cumbersome so yes

you're compliant but your accessibility

experience is rubbish right? I'm gonna skip

over this because we'll talk about this

in our workshop later this afternoon but

will come at you with some, we will bring to

you some tools you can use and we'll

talk about that later.

One thing I want to point out is style

over substance... we talk about this,

everyone wants a beautifully designed

intranet. Really we all do. We want

something that's beautiful... gorgeous to

use friendly, easy etcetera.

Well first thing turn off your CSS, ok? Try using

your intranet from a code standpoint

alone, alright?

Accessibility is for everyone that's the

key message for us today.

Ok, so what are some of the things that

you can do? When you make your site or

your intranet accessible you're talking

about tabbing getting easier, images

becoming more contextual, links becoming

easier to describe and decipher so it's

a win for you as much as those who've got

accessibility challenges.

Ok so a fun list to do what else can you

do? You can unplug your mouse only use a

keyboard.

Have you tried that using your intranet?

Okay try navigating using the arrow keys

only that will be fun. You can disable all

styles to see the path of a screen reader.

Screen readers do care about HTML.

Shout out to Simon from Barclays try

wearing boxing gloves or swimming

goggles.

Ok shout out to our very own Lisa

Riemers who said try it after a glass

of wine.

Not sure about that particularly if your wine's near

your keyboard so watch that one.

Perhaps the most interesting one is ask

your internet provider awkward questions,

right? Like have you used it yourself?

Ok what does that mean how do you how do

you use your own intranet product that

you're you're giving me basically how do

you use it?

Ok? So what are we doing?

We at Invotra, we changed our entire

approach as I said we kind of got an

awakening when we actually sat with

users who get accessibility challenges,

and I think the first thing I recommend

is that you change your culture from the

top okay? And that is something that I

would think it's really easy to do.

Ok? Now some people say erm, but it's not

I can't get time with the CEO and COO

it's very difficult or the GM or the SVP or

whatever, but accessibility actually when

you start talking about the subject of

accessibility most people sit up and

take notice.

Ok it has got to change from the top

your culture's gotta change within

yourselves to accept that this is

something you actually put front and

center.

This is not something you leave on the

end and talk about at the end of the

day, this is something actually you build at

the beginning of your experience so when

you're talking about UX it's not just

about your mobile experience. It's your

accessibility experience right think

about that, so that's what we did. We

started to change a lot about how we

thought of this ourselves and give an

example what we do. Every single release

that we've got is, we're a SaaS model so we

release every two weeks enhancements,

bug fixes, security patches etc ,all

that good stuff and we've added to that

accessibility enhancements so every

single release that we have every two

weeks,

there's something in there that is going

to be in an improvement or enhancement

from an accessibility standpoint. Want to

know more? We're around, we've got the workshop later the

stands out there our guys Billy and

Andrew are going to be leading the workshop so

feel free to come see us afterwards and

that's it.

I know you're starving so thank you very

much for listening and I hope you have a

wonderful afternoon!

Russian Navy Gets A New Icebreaker For The First Time in 50 Years - Duration: 5:39.

Events began this week in Moscow honoring

the 350th anniversary of boat and shipbuilding in Russia.

They are being held by the Russian Historical Society and chaired by Sergey Naryshkin.

At one time the anniversary was the only thing to celebrate,

because it seemed that the industry was dying. But today we have entered a new era.

Our correspondent Dmitry Khrustalev visited the most modern shipyards in St. Petersburg

and the original homeland of Russian shipbuilding, which is located in the Moscow Region.

Electronic jamming equipment,

anti-aircraft weapons with below deck launchers,

and mounted guns, which are unique for Russia and the world for now.

The newest frigate, Admiral Gorshkov, is the most modern stealth warship in Russia.

Among the main advantages is its ability to travel long distances.

Final testing will begin at the end of this month,

and in summer, the frigate will go to join its fleet.

Dedinovo village near Kolomna in the Moscow Region.

Yes, Peter the Great created the first Russian fleet,

but it was during Aleksey Mikhailovich's reign, Peter I's father,

who started the shipbuilding industry.

By decree of Aleksey, the construction of a 22-gun frigate began here 350 years ago.

To construct the European class ships, the wood needed to first be dried for 1 to 3 years.

Boards and metal bars were taken from local farmers.

Some wood used was left over from the construction of a Moscow River bridge.

The construction site was not chosen randomly.

The oldest shipyard was once located near where today stands a memorial and the Trinity Church.

Dedinovo was famous for their domestic shipbuilders and carpenters.

Dutch craftsmen were invited to supervise the work.

The first domestic ship, Oryol, built using European technology, had a very unique feature.

This marine ship was able to pass across the Oka's shallow river waters

and travel up the Volga river to Astrakhan.

This was due to the draft of this sea ship only being half a meter.

However, the first voyage turned out to be the last one.

The ship came to the same place where the Stenka Razin uprising broke out and was abandoned.

Today it seems that domestic shipbuilding has all but been abandoned.

Let's go back to St. Petersburg.

A domestic know-how of the XXI century.

A sea trawler. A mine defense ship with the world's largest monolithic fiberglass hull.

This technology is being used in Russia for the first time.

This is the Baltiysky Zavod factory.

At the beginning of the last century, the first Russian combat submarine was built here.

Now, they build the most modern icebreakers here.

Today, the once world's most powerful Arctic icebreaker Krasin,

which is as old as the Russian revolution,

looks very humble next to the Arctic, the world's biggest,

most modern and most powerful two-reactor nuclear icebreaker.

Innovative design allows to adjust the depth of the ice-breaker's immersion in the water.

This means that it can lead ships not only through Arctic ice, but also into the mouths of rivers.

Length is nearly 200 meters, width 34 meters, and height is the same as a nine storey building.

Two reactors produce 175 megawatts each, enough to provide power to a major city for years.

The icebreaker can function in stand-alone mode without having to enter any port for years.

Of all the new nuclear icebreakers, the Arctic will be the main one,

which will allow Russia to rule the high latitudes.

According to experts, in the world today there is no comparison.

Due to its power and thickness of the hull, which reaches up to 40 millimeters,

the icebreaker is able to go through ice as thick as three meters.

No ship in the world can break through such ice.

On the other side of the Neva River, stands the old Admiralty Shipyards.

And there stands something else to be proud of, the icebreaker "Ilya Muromets".

It is both a tugboat and a patrol ship.

On board, it has equipment for containing oil spills and extinguishing fires at needed emergency facilities.

The new icebreaker will join the Navy for the first time in half a century.

As part of Russia's import substitution program, we were able to maximize the use

of domestic equipment to build this icebreaker, such as the power system and ship control systems.

A huge number of pumps, devices, and accessories were all made in Russia.

In general, the overall trend in recent years has been

choosing domestic suppliers of equipment and on board systems.

We have created a plan on the development of the shipbuilding industry until 2030,

which will require all relevant enterprises to work at their capacities.

First of all, we will put an emphasis on developing marine equipment.

The Northern Shipyard in St. Petersburg is impressive.

The Shipbuilding Corporation will launch their first pilot project there.

They will use all possible advanced technologies that exist in the world of shipbuilding.

It will be the northern point of building of heavy-tonnage vessels

both for military and domestic ships. It will also be the best in blank hull manufacturing.

It will allow us to move large sections regarding the building of megablocks.

It will be the first experience of building in the European part of Russia and on the Northern Shipyard.

During the 350th anniversary since the launching of Russia's first warship,

many people often speak about the importance of the domestic shipbuilding industry.

The landmark date will be here soon. It is June 29.

This was the day when Tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich issued the now famous decree.

The day, which has been repeatedly proposed to be made the official holiday of shipbuilders.

Dmitry Khrustalev, Ivan Utkin, Igor Vologdin, Stanislav Petrov,

Igor Belogurov, and Maria Bizyaeva, Vesti Saturday. Saint Petersburg, Moscow, and Dedinovo.

Gov't to invest US$ 47 mil. until 2021 for developing unmanned vehicles - Duration: 1:25.

To better aid efforts in developing technologies related to un-manned vehicles....

Korea's science ministry is increasing spending on projects dedicated to that purpose.

For details on the 5-year plan we turn to Oh Jung-hee.

The Korean government says it will inject over 47 million U.S. dollars through 2021...

to advance the local unmanned vehicle industry.

Having designated the sector as one of the country's key strategic industries,... the

Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning announced on Monday its finalized version

of a master plan... to develop drones, self-driving cars, unmanned ships and agricultural machines.

The plan is extended by two years from the initial plan set last year, and calls for

spending 12 million dollars more.

This will allow for more investment in developing a traffic management system for unmanned vehicles...

to monitor the movements of unmanned vehicles at altitudes of less than 150 meters.

Aside from that, the ministry's original plans stay the same.

Until 2019, the ministry is set to spend 18 million dollars on upgrading the performance

of small unmanned vehicles.

Nine million dollars will be spent to develop communication and operation technologies...

Visual theatre for brands : Justso.eu - Duration: 1:29.

We are Justso, we're a creative design agency.

We do a lot of projects for brands as brand guardianship in terms of

their brand image and identity.

So how do we transform who they are as a brand into what they can be.

We do a lot of different things, but it's very focused in terms of creative,

and looking after our brands and making them have an image

that the customer can be immersed in.

We're at Justso.eu, our website is the first point of contact with some clients.

I think we want to be connected with the rest of the world,

we want to be connected with Europe.

We don't want to just limit ourselves to the UK, when there's so much potential everywhere else.

So I think having that .eu just adds that edge to our company.

House of Fraser came to us with their Christmas TV commercial and, basically,

they wanted a window display which kind of took extracts from their commercial

and they wanted it realized and interpreted into their windows.

I think what we've really set out to do with this project,

was combine traditional methods of visual merchandise with digital new technology.

Just through this kind of beautiful visual theatre draw them into the store

so they can buy a little present for their little Johnny.

Thousands Sign New White House Petition to Arrest George Soros - Duration: 1:48.

Thousands Sign New White House Petition to Arrest George Soros

By Ryan Saavedra

A White House Petition has been created to Issue an International Arrest Warrant for

George Soros.

The Petition was created a couple of weeks ago and has already received over 5,500 signatures.

While this is a lot of signatures it is still well short of the 100,000 needed to get a

response from the White House.

The petition states:

George Soros is a menace to the free world and stands in the way of making America great

again.

He is guilty of the following crimes:

1) Financially supports open sedition in major American cities resulting in millions of dollars

of property damage as well as loss of life.

2) Attempts to manipulate democratic elections by donating millions of dollars to his preferred

candidates.

3) Seeks to curtail American sovereignty.

In his own words: The main obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United

States Changing [the]attitude and policies of the United States remains my top priority.

4) Is a currency manipulator.

Soros initiated a British financial crisis by dumping 10 billion sterling, forcing the

devaluation of the currency and gaining a billion-dollar profit.

I Told My Dad That I Am An Addict - And Have Been For Five Years - Duration: 1:36.

- When I first told my parents, it was hard. It was leading up to it.

I mean, I went to church with my mom about a week and a half before I really came

clean with everybody. And I nodded out in church, and I felt asleep.

And we were there for five seconds, and I was so doped up that,

you know, I passed out and I just kept nodding out. So she sat me down that day,

and she asked me. She said she was worried. You know,

was I having issues? Was I on a new medicine?

You know, my parents never wanted to push me. They never wanted to push me into my

emotions because I had so many issues as a child. They would kind of tiptoe around me

and they'd ask me things in a certain way without directly coming at me because they

didn't want me to get angry. So they knew something was up, but I actually had to go

to my father. And I sat at my father's office the first time

that I came to them and let them know what was going on.

You know, I walked in, I worked with my dad at the time, I walked in.

I shut the door. He had no idea what was coming, and I just laid it all out.

I laid it all out on the line. You know, it just kind of smacked him across the

face. I told him I was an addict. I told him I'd been an addict for five years.

I told him the amount of drugs I was using. I told him that I was using at

work, the job that he allowed me. And he told me to...you know,

he just put me out on administrative leave right away. They were

going to get me help. And it really kind of

opened it up to the fact that I was very blessed to have that.

You know, I was appreciative in that moment that I had parents that were

willing to just drop everything and help me. So it was hard for me to come clean,

and it was hard for me to really let them know that their fears were true,

that I was using. But it was also a very big sense of relief realizing that they

were there for me.

MILD WINTER 6-INTRO

But not everyone appreciates the

above average temperatures and

rain..

First News reporter Alex George

joins us live in the studio to

explain how

businesses who RELY on the snow

are doing so far this season.

[B5]20170213 MILD WINTER 6-IN

The Valley saw some sunshine

this weekend and temperatures

nearly 15 degrees above average

on Saturday.. And although many

people enjoyed the

relatively mild weather - one

Valley business says things are

pretty slow for him.

[B6]20170213 MILD WINTER 6-VO

I talked with the owner of TMJ

home services who specializes

in snow removal..and he's

wishing for more snow.

So far this month we're already

nearly 2 inches behind in

snowfall..

This has been the second slow

winter in a row for his

business.. And he says he can't

rely on mother nature in the

winter time..

"STAY AS BUSY AS POSSIBLE IN OUR

MAIN SEASONS BECAUSE A LOT OF

GUYS WHO DO WHAT I DO ALSO DO

LANDSCAPING I ALSO DO HANDY

REPAIR WORKING FOR HOMES AND

GUTTERS."

Taylor primarily works with

elderly clients so even if

there is just a little bit of

snow, he'll

go out and make sure their

sidewalks are safe.

He explained that a snow filled

winter is great - but he tries

to plan financially and

stay busy during the spring and

summer.

I also talked with another

little girl this weekend who

said she's a little disappointed

in the lack of snow days - so

she too is not a fan of mild

temperatures.

For statistics about our winter

so far, and how it compares to

last year..

Korea's acting president guarantees safe business environment for foreign investors - Duration: 2:22.

South Korea's acting president sat down with a group of foreign investors.

The prime minister sought to offer them extra reassurance in the wake of North Korea's latest

missile launch.

Song Ji-sun shares with us his remarks.

Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn said Seoul is prepared to guarantee foreign investors a

safe business environment, with strong security and efforts to reinforce Seoul's economic

fundamentals.

He said that Seoul operates a 24-7 monitoring system against volatile market conditions...

and that the government's deregulation drive, with its advanced information and communications

technology assets, will help the economy regain momentum.

Prime Minister Hwang also condemned North Korea's latest missile test,... pledging close

coordination with the international community to counter Pyongyang's provocations.

"We promise to guarantee a safe business environment based on strong security conditions by adopting

a thorough system of countermeasures with our allies in case of a North Korean provocation."

Prime Minister Hwang encouraged foreign investors to have faith in the South Korean economy,

vowing further benefits and tax deductions, especially when they invest in new technology.

"The South Korean government will make all necessary efforts to develop a favorable environment

for business and help foreign companies bear greater fruit here so that they can contribute

to Seoul's economic growth through job creation."

South Korea's foreign investment topped 20-billion dollars for a second consecutive year last

year... and accounts for one-fifth of Seoul's exports.

Prime Minister Hwang also vowed to expand South Korea's free trade deals with ASEAN

and China... and to seal more pacts with Israel and Ecuador... so that foreign investors can

use South Korea as a bridge to enter the larger global market.
