Waching daily Jun 2 2018

President Trump announced Friday that his historic summit with Kim Jong Un is back on schedule, ending days of uncertainty and once again putting him on track to become the first American president to meet with a North Korean leader

The announcement came immediately after Trump held a highly unusual Oval Office meeting with vice chairman Kim Jong Chol, the former director of North Korea's spy agency and Kim Jong Un's current right-hand man

Advertisement "We'll be meeting on June 12 in Singapore," Trump told reporters after escorting Kim to his motorcade on the South Lawn of the White House

"It went very well. It's really a get-to-know-you kind of situation." Trump abruptly cancelled the Singapore sit-down last week after a North Korean official blasted Vice President Mike Pence as "stupid" and "ignorant" for suggesting the isolated Communist regime follow the "Libya model" and give up all its nuclear weapons

But almost immediately after scrapping the diplomatic date, Trump began entertaining the idea of reviving it

"I cancelled it in response to a very tough statement," Trump said Friday. "I think we're over that, totally over that, and now we're going to deal and we're going to really start a process

" Trump expressed unequivocal enthusiasm for the summit and said he's confident it will have a "very positive result

" He also said Kim Jong Chol gave him a "very nice letter" from Kim Jong Un, only to concede he hadn't opened it yet when asked about its contents moments later

"I may be in for a big surprise folks," Trump quipped. The White House didn't reveal the contents of the letter, but released a photo showing it was delivered in an unusually large envelope, which a beaming Trump posed with alongside Kim Yong Chol

Experts were skeptical of Trump's eagerness, voicing concern he might be rushing into a half baked summit

"I fear the President's reality TV experience is leading us to rush into a meeting before we're ready for it," Alexander Vershbow, the U

S. ambassador to South Korea between 2005-2008, told the Daily News. "If he had read his own 'Art of the Deal,' Trump would have known you have to be careful to not appear that you want something more than the other side

I'm scared the North Koreans are seeing that we are overeager and they're going to push a third-rate agreement

" Vershbow argued Trump should have stuck with his initial cancellation, and only agree to a summit once a concrete deal is on the table

"Agreeing to denuclearize as the ultimate goal is nothing new for North Korea," Vershbow said

"They've said that in many declarations going back to the 1990s, but there's never clarity on the timeline, conditions or verification

" Despite intelligence reports to the contrary, Trump said his two-hour long conversation with Kim Yong Chol left him convinced the North Koreans are open to total denuclearization

"I know they want to do that," Trump said, contradicting a leaked CIA assessment claiming the opposite

Vershbow disputed Trump's claim. "With 11 days to go, unless there's a major breakthrough on these negotiations, I don't see that happening," Vershbow said

Advertisement U.S. sanctions on North Korea will remain in place, but Trump said they shouldn't be considered part of the "maximum pressure" campaign he frequently touts

"I don't want to use the term maximum pressure anymore," Trump said. "I don't want to use that term

We're getting along. You see the relationship. It's not a question of maximum pressure

" Trump added he looks "forward to the day" when the sanctions can be lifted altogether

Kim Jong Un's iron-fisted regime has been found guilty of numerous human rights abuses and crimes against humanity, including public executions, arbitrary detentions, forced labor, enslavement and torture, according to the United Nations

But Trump said the topic of human rights didn't come up during his talk with Kim Yong Chol

The President said human rights "probably" will come up at the June 12 summit. The Friday announcement came on the heels of a series of meetings between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Kim Jong Chol in Manhattan

"They have a very good relationship with Mike Pomepo," Trump said. "It was actually very interesting because this was literally going to be the delivery of the letter and it ended up being a two-hour conversation with the second most powerful man in North Korea

Who Is 070 Shake?

One of many surprises on Kanye West's new album, YE, was the appearance of a little-known rapper and singer from New Jersey with a deep, raspy voice, named 070 Shake, on the track "Ghost Town." Twenty-year-old Shake, who signed to G.O.O.D.

music in mid-2016, only released her first solo EP in March of this year, so you'd be forgiven for not being familiar with her catalogue just yet.

But to get you started, we've compiled a brief guide to who she is, where she comes from, and how she got here.

Who is she?070 Shake is a 20-year old rapper and singer from North Bergen, New Jersey.

She and her 070 crew (named after the New Jersey zip code), began releasing tracks on SoundCloud in early 2016, and soon after caught the attention of YesJulz, the Miami-based promoter, social-media star, and "director of vibes" (her words).

After hearing the song "Proud," Julz reached out to Shake on Twitter — "she slid into the DMs," Shake said in an interview with RapRadar — and quickly signed on to be her manager.

Since then, Shake has released a series of singles on her own, a mixtape with her crew called the "070 project," featured on a track with Lil Yachty, and recently put out her first solo EP called Glitter, via G.O.O.D.

Music and Def Jam.

How did she connect with G.O.O.D.

music?Shake's music found its way into the G.O.O.D.

music camp through YesJulz, who is a close friend of Travis Scott and is connected with Kanye's crew.

According to Julz, she played some of 070 Shake's music during a Yeezy fitting, and sparked Pusha-T's interest.

In mid-2016, G.O.O.D.

Music began following 070 Shake on Twitter, sparking rumors that she had been signed, and in June, Pusha-T, Desiigner, and other G.O.O.D.

music members showed up to a YesJulz hosted party at SOBs to perform.

She released her first official single on the label, "Trust Nobody," in September of 2016.

What music has she put out?Since 2016, Shake has released around 20 loose tracks on Soundcloud, both on her own and with other members of the 070 crew.

Last year, the crew self-released the "070 project" mixtape, and in March of this year, she released her EP, Glitter.

Key tracks include "Proud," "Trust Nobody," "Honey," and "Sunday Night." Her debut album, Yellow Girl, is due out next year.

In January of this year, she told Billboardthat she "was kind of in a funk when I was writing Yellow Girl. I worked on Yellow Girl when I was in that phase where I was doing all the stuff that I talked about in Glitter that I wanted to break free form.

It's kind of backwards on how my life was really going.".

Where can I hear it?Several of her singles, along with her EP, are available on streaming services including Spotify and Apple Music.

Additional songs are posted to her SoundCloud page.
