As if my previous videos or even the title didn't make it obvious already for my subscribers,
I'm liking how Sonic Forces is shaping up to be.
With how solid both Classic and Modern Sonic's gameplay is, plus the Custom Hero's, I've
been fascinated by some of what we've seen in the coverage from E3.
The gameplay looks sharper and sharper the more we see it and similar to Mario + Rabbids
Kingdom Battle, it's a case of wait until we see more information.
Looking at Modern Sonic's gameplay, Sonic seems to steer and control a lot better and
more firmly than in Generations.
You could stop him when running, you can turn him around and move around more easily than
before, he has his double jump from Sonic Colors back.
There is a hint of Unleashed/Adventure Sonic, however you wanna depict it, with the way
he moves and turns.
Classic Sonic's gameplay looks slightly better than before as well.
We've all seen his drop dash, his typical moveset, and his physics are aligned to his
games more so than what we saw in April.
The Avatar's as well is interesting, with how he has different Wispon Gadgets, because
I originally thought it was just that one gadget.
But it seems each Wispon you find is based on the arm cannon you got there.
It's reassuring seeing the Wisps be limited to this custom hero as well as be used quickly
and efficient enough to keep the pacing going and provide options for going through a level.
I like how Sonic's friend provide dialogue mid-gameplay.
It gives that Sonic Heroes vibe where characters would speak and say what their plans are,
what to do, what to watch out for, and any other little dialogue between them.
People for some reason don't like it because it's as obvious and shoehorned as it was
in the Generations final boss fight, but I don't believe in that.
The lines aren't always in your face, it's not "Be careful Sonic!
Win Sonic!
Watch out Sonic!" it's actual writing between each other than them hand-holding
and being paranoid for Sonic.
Also, the writing so far seems pretty decent.
Warren Graff is writing the script, so at least the story is unaffected.
None of the lines made me cringe or anything so I'm feeling a little more optimistic
about the writing.
And can I say quickly, thank you Sonic Team for giving us a legit ranking system!
One of my problems with Generations was the low difficulty level and how the stages are
mostly ranked on time.
Now it's like how ranks work in Sonic Adventure 2, Heroes, 06, Unleashed and Colors.
Beat a bunch of enemies, get rings, get to the end quick enough and that's roughly
it.
Now we can work more for getting better at the game the way it judges us.
But I've stated multiple times before, over and over how I feel Sonic Forces is a good
Sonic game, why it is, what issues it could have, what Sonic needs for his future, yaddy
yadda yadda.
Most of you know I like Sonic Forces and it's getting and looking better and better.
Really the only things that rub me the wrong way is all we've seen are Park Avenue and
Green Hill Zone, which is almost entirely 2D for the custom character, and the amount
of springs and hand-holding in some areas, mostly Classic Sonic's stage.
I'm over them using Green Hill.
It's also confirmed the three characters will get stages specific to them, not all
of them getting really the same stage like Generations so that's a plus.
Even though 2 characters may get the same stage, Sonic Adventure and Heroes did the
same exact thing and I doubt it'd be that big of a problem if the layout had more variety
and differences between each other.
Honestly, the gameplay all around still looks as solid as a boost-formulated Modern Sonic
game.
With the "from the creators of Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations" as well as Classic
Sonic being there, it's obvious it'd play like Generations.
With Sonic's controls being easier and freer to manage though, I wonder just what other
stages we'll get and how much more open they could potentially be seeing how Sonic
controls and how Park Avenue is more open than expected, albeit not much.
And let me talk about the story.
Eggman brought Classic Sonic here in the present, but apparently, Classic is a part of another
dimension, I don't know what's up with that.
But the reason I bring up the story is because of the most recent trailer.
Metal Sonic, Chaos, Shadow and Zavok are all on the dark side and villains in the game,
as well as a brand new one with the name Infinite, obviously fitting the logo.
To be honest, this game got a lot more fanfiction-y than I thought but this could turn out pretty
good as it looks pretty cool.
Now, Metal Sonic I thought wasn't going to be in Sonic Forces and he would in Sonic
Mania.
It's actually pretty cool seeing him come back after so long, not classic metal sonic,
and he could be a big boss fight.
Chaos I find super interesting and awesome to see again, and… dammit does he look so
good in HD.
We have not seen this guy since Sonic Adventure and I really hope his inclusion and boss fights
get really engaging.
Shadow's always looking cool and awesome and the big surprise apart from Chaos for
me was Zavok.
After Lost World's mediocre to mixed reception, you'd think Sonic Team and SEGA would try
to forget about Sonic Lost World.
Even though Lost World was really a mess, The Deadly Six were pretty undermined and
not used that well.
Zavok honestly is probably the best of the bunch and he is supposed to be one of Sonic's
more threatening foes as he was the first Sonic held a vengeful grudge against.
I can defend Zavok and say he was a pretty decent villain, with how he turned on Eggman,
how much grimmer he was, how he tormented and taunted Sonic by turning his best friend
into a robot slave, Zavok was honestly a decent Sonic villain.
Really, the only thing I want out of him, and potentially the rest of the Deadly Six
assuming they're in too, is make him a better villain and utilize him and the rest of the
Deadly Six better than in Lost World.
Like give us more than just these random 'Zeti' Eggman caught and enslaved, maybe a bit more
on their origin, why they're so twisted, and why come back?
It might be too much, but in some ways I feel the Deadly Six could've been used as better
villains than being part of the random shoehorns Lost World had.
And apparently there's this brand new villain, Infinite, who's speculated to be a bigger
threat than Eggman and even Zavok.
I wanna see how this villain will play, what's his story and why so serious.
The things that confuse me though is why Shadow's turned to the dark side?
Shadow's an anti hero and quit being a villain.
Same for Chaos, Chaos turned good at the end of Sonic Adventure after seeing Chao living
on and surviving.
But maybe how Eggman got Classic Sonic from a different dimension and did some time and
space crap, maybe this Shadow and Chaos could be of the past or are corrupted in some way.
Maybe these are the same guys as before but the big villain has some mind control power
going on, or they were lied to or something, I don't know.
I find it hard to believe in a game that's not celebrating Sonic's history, Shadow
and Chaos would just be shoved in there for fucksies.
Metal Sonic's always had a grudge on Sonic and Zavok's always hated sonic since, well,
the last modern Sonic game.
Maybe this new villain is causing an uprising on Eggman and was under him before like Zavok,
or Eggman's doing his own thing or is being manipulated by Infinite.
There's different routes the story and characters could go, but I think seeing Metal Sonic and
especially Shadow and Chaos got people hyped up.
I wanna know more about this game's story to be honest because the gameplay overall
is good.
Modern Sonic's boost gets slightly better each game, Classic Sonic's gameplay is still
good, avatar's entire inclusion is creative and smart as hell.
The graphics look amazing, even better than before, the characters are getting more spotlight,
the controls look better, it's just the overall story, direction, stages, music and
writing we need to see more of because we have a good idea of gameplay and it looks
solid.
I'm still anticipating this game as usual and will continue to look forward to knowing
more about Sonic Forces.
I have faith the other stages will be good, there will be more freedom and more 3D, I
have faith in the music, the story and the characters.
I have faith in Sonic Forces doing well, despite how often people complain about Sonic because
most who complain end up getting the game anyways
because it's Sonic.
Thanks to all who watched this and thank you to my subscribers for helping me reach 6000
subs in 3 weeks after reaching 5K!
You guys are way past cool, I'm not sorry, be sure to stick around for more Sonic content
as well as Mario and others.
Be sure to stay tuned for my Mario Odyssey video coming late tonight and maybe I'll
stream if it's not too late because I didn't see any demo or treehouse footage.
But Sonic Forces, looking sharp, excited for it more than before, can't wait.
Stay super!
