(Oh!)

Oh sh*t!

GoPro it!

GoPro!

GoPro?

Oh, wow! It's a pike!

What!? Aw thanks,

right in the f*ing...

Ho ho ho! Nice!

Tip down, tip down!

Ho! Tip down! Tip down-dee-down-dee-down-dee-down!

[footsteps running]

((Erin) Stay on the pike? Alright!)

(Christian) Somewhere I've got, uh, pliers.

(Justin) Ooh, he's there!

(Brendon) Oh, got one!

Yuh!

(Erin) I still have a little fish on my line.

(Justin) You're missing out, Dad!

Yeah, tell him to come next time!

You gotta come next time!

Oh!

This week, our team is catching

Northern Pike through the ice.

We caught quite a few this day,

and we're going to show you how we caught them,

so stick around, and find out

what pike hunt for underwater

and how that can help you fishing.

Hi.

So, here's what we're doing.

We've got this...

GoPro cage

that we're going to put underwater

to see what's biting.

And, uh, I'm tying a little hook on it to see

anything try and attack it and

try and feed, just to see how they like to feed.

Alright, ready?

[sniffing]

Ok, ready?

We dropped our GoPro cage down...

it stirred up a lot of dust,

but as soon as that dust settled

a lot of little perch

came out from their hiding spots

to see what was going on.

Some eyed the minnow, but they were pretty skeptical.

Other perch couldn't resist.

But they didn't get hooked.

What we noticed was that as soon as the fish

started to bite the minnows

a lot of others came around to see

what they were going for.

After a few minutes,

we noticed that, while there were still perch

hanging out and checking out our bait,

there weren't nearly as many around as before.

We couldn't figure out why

until we saw this...

This pike is a predator fish,

and as such, it wasn't interested in our

measly little minnow, no no.

It was waiting there for another perch to swim by

so that it could ambush it!

However, the perch were too smart.

They stayed away,

and so the pike looked elsewhere.

And as soon as that pike left,

the perch came back

and we set up to catch it.

I just caught a small perch,

and, uh, Christian is now putting it on...

what is this called?

Tip up.

A tip up!

So basically, he's got the perch on the end of the line,

he's going to put it in a hole.

See? When a fish / pike will come along...

it'll just spike that

and you'll see that start spinning,

and that's when you know you have a fish.

Awesome.

And it didn't take long for Christian to hook up on a pike!

This is a bigger one...

Woah, ho.

Aw! It's off!

Took my bait, that was a bigger pike.

'Kay, I need another baby perch.

(Erin, you're on the mission again.)

And it seemed like

as soon as Christian put his line back in the water

he hooked up again!

Oh, wow, it's a pike!

Whoo! Another one!

Pike are usually known for having long, sharp teeth

but this pike doesn't

because he shed his teeth for the winter.

Some people believe that

pike are so aggressive

that it doesn't really matter what lure you use,

they'll attack anything that moves.

What do you think?

Comment below!

It seems like Christian is always the one catching fish.

Woah!

Woah!

Dude, that's a massive pike!

Whoo-hoo-hoo! We got one!

This was the biggest pike of the day for us,

but these are pretty young pike.

They can actually reach a weight of up to 30 lbs. or so.

Comment below and tell us if you've ever caught a pike,

how you caught it, and maybe where?

Or, comment below and tell us some other fish that you like to target.

Thanks for watching this episode, guys.

Don't forget to like and subscribe if you aren't already,

and we'll see you next week!

what does it mean to be salt?

What does it mean to be light,

Today's readings remind us that as baptized Christians,

we can't hide.

God, who is God of justice and mercy,

The Israelites weren't off the hook

regarding how they were to act,

and neither are the followers of Jesus.

God has expectations of us.

Just so, your light must shine before others,

that they may see your good deeds,

and glorify your heavenly father.

The gospel of the Lord.

- [Congregation] Praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ.

- Jesus chooses his words carefully,

including the ones we just listened to.

They are a part of his famous Sermon on the Mount,

which is almost like a highlight film of all of his sermons.

In this selection, he is explaining to his followers

what he expects of them.

He's almost like a coach talking

to his players right before a big game.

And Jesus, he's talking to them

about the game of life itself.

Another way to look at this is,

maybe he's like a general instructing his troops

before a big fight.

But, in the case of Jesus,

we're talking about the life of faith.

In a way, Jesus, he's giving us a mission statement,

and what is this mission?

To be salt and light for the world around us.

But, Jesus, what does that mean?

Well, salt, it had two functions in the ancient world.

It gave flavor to food,

but it was also the means

in which they were able to preserve it.

They didn't have refrigerators back then.

So, they would preserve their meats

by putting a layer of salt over it.

Light has the same function as it does now,

basically, to push away the darkness.

But, in the ancient world, before the advent of electricity,

darkness, it was a much more dramatic reality

than it is to us.

The ancients, they understood how helpless they were

without a lamp.

We, on the other hand, because of electric lightings

and television and things like this,

we rarely have to think about a light source.

So, salt and light,

these are the comparisons that Jesus uses

to explain our life's mission.

And, what is the common characteristics of salt and light?

They are both for something else.

Their purpose is not self-centered,

but rather other-centered,

and that's the point of our gospel passage today.

A Christian's mission in this world

is just like Christ's mission,

it's to make a positive difference for others,

by bringing them the power

and the illumination of the gospel.

A home fit for a caveman ► All 4 Adventure TV - Duration: 2:17.

Somewhere just in here it's like this, I don't know this awesome little sort of sheltered

lagoon.

Apparently there's an old guy that used to live here back in the early 90s.

He wasn't old then obviously, but he set up a pearling farm here.

It was one of the first pearling farms set up here in this region.

And the guy's name was Dick Morgan.

And as the story goes, he lived in a cave around here somewhere for nearly 3 years with

virtually nothing.

He was, from what I can gather, he was getting supplies and stuff off passing ships and boats

that would come to the area and fresh water.

Because there's no fresh water on these islands.

So we're going to see if we can find this cave where he was hanging out.

Let's go and check her out, hey?

Looks like A cave.

Is it THE cave though?

100% this would be it.

Pathways and everything.

Have a go at it.

Home sweet home.

It's a serious cave.

It's all-time.

Even comes with a window.

Room with a view.

Definitely protected from the sou'easters in here.

Can you see yourself spending 3 years in here though?

Home away from home.

Go fishing every day.

Well that's where he worked.

That's where the job was.

Instead of building a humpy, he lived in a cave.

Not a whole lot of firewood around here either.

You wouldn't want to have been sitting here. You would have had a really bad day.

I think that bit might have used to be attached to that bit.

Oh, that was the chandelier.

Yes, you wouldn't want to be sitting under that sucker.

Definitely a room with a view. Look at that.
