Hello, I'm Donald Matthews and this is Donald Vlogsifys Woodshop.

Today we're going to talk about joinery and what does it mean.

Joinery is exactly what the name implies.

The act of joining things.

In woodwork....

it's joining boards and what ever parts of your project is.

Same thing in metal work, if...

if you weld two pieces of metal together, you've....

done metal joinery. It's....

joining things together.

I'm just gonna... here in a few minutes I'm going to show you some uhhhh.....

little 3d models that I made.

That just goes over some of the basic stuff....

that is in woodworking joinery.

There is... far more.....

forms of joinery than this.

You've got Japanese joinery....

you've got hidden dovetails....

(stumbling for words)

The possibilities are just about endless.

Of how you join your boards.

But... no matter what; Joinery is the act of joining,

in wood working....

wood joinery.....

is the act of joining those two boards together.

Or those two parts of your project together.

This is what joinery is.

Now following this,

like I said, I made some 3d....

animation things, cause I enjoy playing with that 3d modeling.

I've been having fun.

These are just some of the most basic forms of joinery.

And.... ya know, a little bit about them. You can look them up online and....

if you want to learn more about them and how to do them, there's plenty of videos on youtube

on how to do dovetails and how to do mortise and tenon and all that good stuff.

So... check this out.

Some people are more experienced and already know what these terms mean, but I kinda figure that.....

somebody that's starting out new....

in woodworking. Some of these terms can get a little bit confusing so I'm....

just trying to throw this out there.... to help em out.
