Lenovo has pushed past the traditional laptop market and introduced their latest tablet-laptop

hybrid - the Yoga Book.

Now, I'd already seen quite a few reviews of the Windows 10 version of this tablet,

but those seem to kinda miss the mark - the interesting part of this product, in my opinion,

was the idea that this could also be a laptop-tablet running Android.

So here's my take on the Lenovo Yoga Book with the Android ecosystem.

today with a review of a pretty cool little product.

The Lenovo Yoga Book is a 10.1" 2-in-1 tablet-laptop combo with Lenovo's fantastic watchband

hinge.

This is the same style of hinge that was on the Lenovo Yoga 900 laptop I reviewed last

year.

It keeps the screen from bouncing too much or adjusting the angle on its own, but is

easy to open and shut.

And it just looks cool.

The screen is a very nice-looking 1920x1200 IPS display.

Pretty damn good for a tablet.

For a fully specc'd out unit, inside is an Intel Atom x5-Z8550 processor, up to 4GB

of RAM, and up to 64GB of internal storage.

Dolby Atmos speakers are also present, along with an 8500 mAh battery.

In my month or so of use, I only had to charge it twice and I rarely had it powered down.

I was impressed.

Opposing the screen is their new "Halo" keyboard.

No, not that kind of Halo.

This is a capacitive touch keyboard where there are no physical keys - just a large

solid surface with backlighting to outline where keys would be.

I wrote a couple video scripts on this.

It was a very different experience that took some getting used to, but by like half an

hour in I was typing pretty fast and comfortably.

That was… until the Google Docs app randomly stopped accepting letter inputs or the keyboard

would randomly switch to French.

More on that in a minute.

I certainly wouldn't use this as a daily driver for typing and writing, but for quick

notes in a classroom or just casually responding to quick emails and social media posts - this

is totally viable.

This keyboard also houses an emulated trackpad, which works fairly well, though it is quite

small.

And if capacitive typing isn't your thing, you can also hand-write with this!

By holding down the pencil button at the top of the keyboard and using the included stylus

pen, you can use real ink to write on real paper while having it save in the notes app

digitally, as well.

I was very, very impressed with how natural this felt and with the quality of the results

from doing so.

Writing was detected through even the thick notepad Lenovo provides - but you have to

use their pen, which I found uncomfortable to use.

A trade-off, I guess.

I'm excited to see where this technology goes in the future.

Finishing off the physical build of the Yoga Book, it comes in Champagne Gold, Gunmetal

Grey, and Carbon Black colors and looks and feels very similar to the Yoga 900.

A nice, cool metal feeling, and completely sturdy - no flex whatsoever.

Given that the folding aspect doesn't allow for any rubber feet or gripping on the bottom,

however, it can slip quite easily on just about any surface and scratching would be

an issue to its look.

On one side you get a MicroUSB port, which is what you'd use to charge the tablet,

a MicroSD slot - which can be loaded up to 128GB - in the iPhone SIM slot style, not

sure I'm a fan, a micro HDMI output which can go up to 4K 30hz, and a speaker grill.

Microphones line the front bezel edge.

The other side features another speaker grill, headphone combo jack, volume rocker and lock

and power button.

The 2 megapixel 1080p front camera is located on the bezel above the screen, and the 8 megapixel

1080p rear camera is actually located on the keyboard, so that when it's folded like

a tablet it's actually on the rear.

Here's a couple samples:

This is a video in selfie mode test with the Lenovo Yoga Book in my normal studio lighting

setup.

So what you normally see in the A-Roll of videos.

And this is what it looks like in a standard room with basic CFL lighting, as if I was

having a late-night Skype call or something.

Obviously this is an unflattering angle down here on my lap, but up a bit more it's not

too bad.

The color is a little bit weird and it's quite noisy, but it's passable for a Skype camera.

Now this is the rear camera.

Again, still fairly noisy under normal conditions, but under studio lighting everything gets

super over-exposed.

Looks like that's just the general limitation of the camera.

It also has a huge crop factor.

We don't really get much touch to focus action.

Just a basic camera.

This brings us to the software - what is using this device actually like?

Lenovo brags about their custom Android ROM, capable of windowed Android apps and better

productivity - and I'm hyped for the future iterations of this idea - but I'm not a

huge fan at the moment.

The typical bottom bar on Android has been modified to act as a taskbar of sorts - with

the back, home, task switcher, and app drawer buttons hugging the left, then open window

indicators for the rest.

On the far right is a button to switch to the real pen writing mode.

This is alright, and a good bridge between expected Android and desktop experiences.

The clock and notifications still occupy a small panel at the top, and integrates quite

well.

I'm satisfied with this.

The home screen is fluid and responsive, and easy enough to navigate.

What Lenovo has done to desktop-ify the Android operating system on the whole is fine - the

problem lies in using traditional Android apps.

Lenovo's file manager, Google Chrome, Google Docs and so on all work wonderfully on this

device.

Maximized or in Windowed mode, I feel like I'm on a normal laptop using them.

It was a welcome surprise.

Other apps from the Play Store, however, not so much.

With most apps - games, Snapchat, Instagram, etc. - you have the choice of a pretty tiny,

vertical windowed mode or full-screen mode.

This wouldn't be a problem, of course, except most of the apps I've tried only do Windowed

mode in the vertical orientation.

To make matters worse, they don't scale properly.

The 16:10 aspect ratio of the screen means when displayed vertically, many apps stretch

out to fill the width of the screen and wind up looking super distorted.

And you're just stuck with that.

So whenever I'm using the Yoga Book in laptop mode and Instagram opens maximized, the entire

experience turns sideways until I switch to something else.

This isn't a problem for all apps - Google apps, YouTube, Facebook and Facebook messenger

do just fine staying in landscape orientation when maximized - but the elements are scaled

so largely that they're still not easy to use.

Android as a desktop operating system just….

Isn't there yet.

Again, I'm super stoked to see where this idea takes us - and I will be closely following

this project, along with Remix OS (another take on the Android for PC idea), and Google's

Fuschia OS, which is rumored to be a combination of their Android and Chrome operating systems

for a more unified environment.

And overall, the custom ROM just felt like it really lacked polish.

HDMI output seems to be finnicky about whether it wanted to work with my capture device (not

a problem I've had with other devices), and customizing certain settings just felt…

off.

Not to mention the serious keyboard problems I had while writing scripts.

They were hard to capture since they were completely random as far as I could tell - but

while typing in Google Docs, sometimes it would just stop accepting letter inputs.

I could delete text, type numbers, and so on, but it just would not accept letters.

Other times, the keyboard kept randomly switching to French.

After the second time, I went in and manually disabled all other languages myself, and it

still managed to re-enable the French keyboard and start screwing with word acceptance.

Both of these issues seemed to be tied to the auto-fill and auto-correct tools built

into their Android keyboard - that's the only way I can really figure out how to explain

it.

It was incredibly frustrating when the keyboard kept freaking out like 5 times during one

script, however.

So this is a really, really neat product concept.

I've loved hybrid laptops for as long as they've been a thing, and I will keep an

eye on future iterations of these ideas for years to come - but this is not a device I

would use as my daily driver for anything but a super lightweight casual travel device.

If I'm someone who regularly moves between an office and a home office, only needing

something basic to engage on social media and email at the occasional coffee shop stop

or something, absolutely.

But to replace my laptop with this?

Not so much.

Then again, the Windows 10 version seems to be a bit more polished.

Transformer Testing – Open circuit or No Load Test of Transformer - Duration: 3:34.

A power transformer is usually employed for the purpose of converting power, at a fixed

frequency, from one voltage to another.

If it is used for converting power from a high voltage to a low voltage, it is called

a step-down transformer.

The conversion efficiency of a power transformer is extremely high and almost all of the input

power is supplied as output power at the secondary winding.

For confirming the specifications and performances of an electrical power transformer it has

to go through Open Circuit Test (No load test) on Transformer.

In this video we will learn about Open circuit test and their procedure.

Objectives of Open circuit test.

To conduct standard open circuit tests in order to find the parameters of the equivalent

circuit of a transformer.

Evaluate the regulation and efficiency of the transformer at a given load.

Check the excitation characteristics of the transformer.

Open Circuit Test on Transformer.

The connection diagram for open circuit test on transformer is shown in the figure.

A voltmeter, wattmeter, and an ammeter are connected in Low Voltage side of the transformer

as shown.

The voltage at rated frequency is applied to that LV side with the help of a variac

of variable ratio auto transformer.

The High Voltage side of the transformer is kept open.

Now with the help of variac, applied voltage gets slowly increased until the voltmeter

gives reading equal to the rated voltage of the Low Voltage side.

After reaching at rated Low Voltage side voltage, all three instruments reading (Voltmeter,

Ammeter and Wattmeter readings) are recorded.

The ammeter reading gives the no load current Ie.

As no load current Ie is quite small compared to rated current of the transformer, the voltage

drops due to this current that can be taken as negligible.

Since, voltmeter reading V1 can be considered equal to secondary induced voltage of the

transformer, the input power during test is indicated by watt-meter reading.

As the transformer is open circuited, there is no output, hence the input power here consists

of core losses in transformer and copper loss in transformer during no load condition.

But as said earlier, the no load current in the transformer is quite small compared to

full load current, so copper loss due to the small no load current can be neglected.

Hence, the wattmeter reading can be taken as equal to core losses in transformer.

Let us consider wattmeter reading is P0.

Where Rm is shunt branch resistance of transformer.

If, Zm is shunt branch impedance of transformer.

Therefore, if shunt branch reactance of transformer is Xm, These values are referred to the Low

Voltage side of transformer as because the test is conducted on Low Voltage side of transformer.

These values could easily be referred to High Voltage side by multiplying these values with

square of transformation ratio.

Therefore it is seen that the open circuit test on transformer is used to determine core

losses in transformer and parameters of shunt branch of the equivalent circuit of transformer.

'Sonic Boom' Of Light Captured For The First Time Ever - Duration: 1:56.

Hey everyone, Trace here for a DNews short.

For the first time ever, scientists have captured the "sonic boom" - for light.

Normally sonic booms are created when an object moves faster than the speed of sound.

But you shouldn't be able to create a 'sonic boom' for light when nothing can travel

faster than light.

Unless, of course, you are a bit more specific.

Nothing can move faster than the speed of light - in a vacuum.

You can, however, slow down the speed of a beam of light by shining it through a medium

like water or glass.

By leveraging this quality, you can make some light travel faster than other light!

Scientists accomplished just that in this experiment by sandwiching a tunnel filled

with dry ice fog between two plates made of a mixture of silicone rubber and aluminum

oxide powder.

Then, they pulsed a green laser through the tunnel.

Now, light moves slower through the plate material than it does in the tunnel.

So, as light scatters into the plates, it can't keep up with the light in the dry

ice fog.

When this happens a cone-shaped wavefront of light forms behind the laser pulse, just

like a sonic boom shockwave created by a supersonic aircraft.

In this case, the beam is the airplane.

While this wasn't the first time a photonic boom had been created - it was the first time

one had been captured in real time.

That's thanks to a new superfast camera that can capture images at 100 billion frames

per second.

They call it the Streak Camera and it's so fast that researchers ultimately hope to

use it to image more than just laser pulses.

Eventually, they want to apply it to biomedical imaging and watch neurons fire in the brain.

Woah.

When a camera can keep up with light and neurons - you know it's gotta be good.

So wait, if we can make light slower, does that mean Einstein was wrong about the speed

of light in his theorems?

I'm on tour right now, and it has been amazing.

How do you stay in contact with him?

>> You know, technology is, like, my best friend.

Being able to FaceTime him and have direct numbers to his doctors,

his technicians, people who are taking care of him on a regular.

>> Yeah.

>> That it can be overwhelming for one person.

>> Yes.

We get to a place where a lot of the times

we think we're the only people that can do the job.

I found out that you don't necessarily have to have

as much family as I have. 'Cause a lot of people don't.

You can learn so much online if you would just spend an hour or two.

Everywhere I looked, I mean, there was some place

I could turn to get understanding of how to deal with legal aspects,

the medical aspects, the emotional instability,

you know, when you feel like you're cracking up.

I mean, there was just something for everything

that I was going through right at the moment while I was going through it.

So I just want to encourage everybody, anybody, you know,

to just reach out, don't try to do this by yourself.

The hardest part was seeing him down.

The greatest part is seeing a comeback

from what you thought was a dire situation,

and you know that you were a part of that.

To love somebody back to …

[sighs]

>> So is that the greatest reward?

>> That is. >> Caregiving?

>> That is, that I didn't leave my brother,

that I didn't abandon ship.

I'm sorry, I'm a mess.

You know how much I love this man.

But to know that I didn't give up,

that I didn't, um,

that I didn't think it was so hard that I couldn't do it.

Because I would never be able to forgive myself.

But to see him fighting every day,

I'm grateful and I'm so thankful to be there through this whole process.

>> When he wrote "God is Good" for me,

I just thought there was no simpler way to say it.

God is good.

Even on stage, I carry my brother everywhere.

So there's a piece of him that goes with me on tour,

you know. There's a piece of him that's on the radio.

You know, every time you hear this song,

it's a piece of me and my brother together somewhere. So that's the beauty.

And not even his sickness can take that away, how about that?

Ladies & Gentlemen today i'm going to take you to the kitchen

we are going to smack up with a breakfast for champions

When I wake up I can't wait to get some of this, it's healthy

and it is nutritious as i should be!

So stay tuned and look how i make a breakfast for champions!

So what I like the most about this breakfast is

It takes no time at all, what we have in front of us are ingredients we are going need to make up this wonderful breakfast

within 5 min you'll have a meal that will go with you untill 9 or 10 hours when you are going to have another snack

So stay with us as we move to the kitchen and we show you how to make it

what do we got here, we got protein powder, you can take any kind of variation of protein powder you want

we got unprocessed oatmeal

we got stevia for extra sweetening, you can add honey

or whatever you like, but i rather not because I don't like the

extra sugar and calories maybe on a high carb day so

You can add other things too it like peanut butter or chocolate if you want to...

it's up to you!

It's you who is going to eat it, or your sweet lifting girlfriend!

So alright first we need a bowl we take this bowl right here,

something you can put in the microwave people, next you will have to add water from the tap, I've got it in this container right here, so right you put the water in, make sure it's enough

some may like to add milk or almond milk whatever your preferance is

so i do add water, as much as needed to keep it smooth because

after the microwave we are going to add the protein

I said after because I don't have a clue what heat does to protein

I have heard whispers it's not a good idea so yeah let's prevent damage than I guess

So okay the water is added now we take the oatmeal put it right in, take a spoon give it a stir

take it to the microwave and put it in at about 3 min on 600 watts, don't go running away from a microwave

but don't stay to close either.

Keep an eye on what's happening in the bowl, if there is life in the thing

get it out, if there's not much happening, let it go!

You should get it going, you should let it go! :)

Once you have done what you need to do with it, take it out.

okay i took it out as you can see it's a bit to dry, so what can you do, you add a little more water, give it a stir

okay so it's more moist now, im a sugar tooth as you can see i put the stevia in

the protein powder together give it a good old stiiiiiiirrrr

add the protein powder, oh i'm getting messy here, if you want to add something like berries

or perhaps even an EGG give it a go!

Why not ! :) I never tried an egg in protein powder, maybe it's an experiment

If you are done stirring dig in!

Dig in!

mmmm this is really healthy, if you have a craving

fix this up for yourself it's fills you up, it's really good for you

and you don't need much You can get really creative with it.

Welcome to the ElfQuest Collector's Guide! good morning guys! it's New Comic Book Day,

and it's the release of Final Quest #18, and i've decided i'm going to vlog the day! so,

here we go, guys, have a good day and i hope you enjoy mine! ok, so first of all, i always

get the new issues of Final Quest digitally on Dark Horse Digital-dot-com, so i haven't

actually gotten my new copy yet.

I'm about to buy it and i'm about to read it.

i usually get to read it the day before, 'cause i know the "trick," um, but for some reason

it wasn't working this time, so i had to wait just like everybody else until the ACTUAL

release day to read this issue.

so, i haven't read it yet, i'm about to read it, and i'm going to record my reactions,

so here we go, guys! well guys, i was going to try to read it on

my Kindle, but it's taking forever to download, so i already have it pulled up here on my

computer, and here we go! i'm about to read Final Quest issue number 18... *inhales* let's see

what happens! i won't say anything, guys, just don't worry, i'm not going to let any

spoilers out or anything like that.

happens in it!

i'm just going to show you what i'm doing as i read it.

my eyes, guys! this is beautiful! *sniffles* oh that was awesome! now i do usually try

to read the ElfQuotes.

i will do that once i'm off-camera so i can actually pay attention to what everybody's

saying.

uh... i want to see what else is here, if it's just ElfQuotes.

'cause sometimes they like to add little fun things at the end...

and they did add some fun little things, not just the ElfQuotes... again i'm not going

to say what it is, because you guys can just wait and get you own issue! *giggles* but

uh, yeah! so there we go, guys, that was my reactions to reading the new Final Quest issue.

it's a GREAT one! i highly recommend reading it!

i mean come on, it's ElfQuest: Final Quest, so i'm sure you guys already know it should

be read! but um, really good one! you guys can probably tell from my reactions, lots

of, uh, roller coaster emotions in this one.

lots of happy moments, lots of sad moments, lots of like, "WHOA! what the heck's going on?!"

Wendy, once again, you outdid yourself, this is beautiful and i love it! and i hope everybody

else loves it!

alright so, now for the rest of the vlog, it's going to be my trip to the comic book

shop! it's going to be my day, it's going to be-- i'll do a small uh, introduction to

my family.

you guys got to meet Tam just a few minutes ago on my camera, and previously, in one of

my other videos, you got to meet my daughter, Lori, so i'll do another full introduction.

Lori is at school right now, so once she gets out of school, that's when we will be leaving

to go to the comic book shop! now, some of you that follow me on Facebook and Twitter

know that i live, literally, in the middle of the woods, on the side of a mountain! therefore

it takes me about an hour and a half just to drive to my nearest comic book shop! and

i'm going to vlog that trip for you guys, just to show you exactly how long it takes,

but ElfQuest is well worth it, isn't it guys? we all know that! we love our ElfQuest! these

elves are WAY worth that much time to just go get a new issue of it! even though i've

already read the issue?

i don't care, i'm going to make the drive to go get it.

i have to have it! uh, so yeah, i'll see you guys in a bit, later on in the vlog, and i

hope you guys enjoyed the reaction video! *clicks tongue*

also guys, we are coming up on a HUGE milestone for me on YouTube! we are at 97 Subscribers,

as of right now! that means we're only 3 away from 100! that is HUGE, that is SO exciting

for me, guys! um, i want to thank all of my Subscribers, all of my viewers, uh, all of

my friends and Tribemates on Facebook and Twitter- Thank you guys SO much for the support!

it's REALLY encouraging to me, it really inspires me to, just, keep pushing, to keep making

um-- as i just said, we are almost to 100 Subscribers, we're at 97 right now, if we

hey guys! we're about to head out the door, on the way to the comic book shop! thought

i'd introduce my husband, my Lifemate, and my Nasty-Bad Editor-Thing, Adam!

Hi everybody!

*voice-over of a menacing evil laugh* MWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAAAA!!!

alright guys, as part of the vlog, i figured i would show our drive there, and how long

it actually takes to get to the comic book shop! so, i'm going to set my camera in my

car, and i'm going to strap it down, and i'm going to show you the drive! so, first-of-all,

here i am, annnnd there's my car!

*catchy upbeat tune plays*

so we'll see you there, guys! *clicks tongue*

here we are in the car, folks, and we actually have to go pick-up my daughter, Lori from

school, first, so we'll be doing that before we stop in town, and then we'll be heading

off to the comic book shop! and there's Tam in the background! hi Tam!

and there's Adam! he's driving, so he can't look!

on the road again, and now, we have Lori in the car! hi Lori! and there's Tam still!

my cute kiddos!

and that was just the drive to Cave Junction, the closest town where we do our grocery shopping!

we still haven't gotten to the town where the comic book shop is yet!

grabbed some lunch and we're back on-the-go! we also had to switch cameras, because our

actual camera's battery juice is kind-of running low, and we wanted to save some for when we

actually get to the comic shop, so, we had to switch cameras so the footage might be

a little bit different-looking from here-on-out, but we're doing what we can, guys!

we're almost there, guys! it's been about 25 minutes, i think, since my last comment,

and we're getting there! we're getting there...

well, we finally got to Grants Pass, the city that has the comic shop, now we just have

to get through the city to the comic shop itself...

and that was the tallest flagpole in all of Oregon!

alright guys, i'm here! this is my Comic Shop, this is Iguana Comics, i LOVE this place!

this is where i come to get my Final Quest comics EVERY single time! the owner's really,

alright guys, so, here i am, got my new issues, and i'm excited!

*whispers* i found Red Sonja!

*to camera* so my comic shop has a LOT of Pops! *sing-songy* Po-o-o-o-o-ops! lots of

Pops! lots and lots of Pops! there's Pops! on this side, there's Pops! on that side!

alright, back in the car, done at the comic book shop, and on our way home!

*whispers and stutters* i... am so... scared! guys! i got lost in the woods!

*normal voice* no i'm just joking, my house

is right over here! there's my house, right back there, there's my house!

FOOF! and we're back! oh my gosh, guys! ok, so, when i left, it was only quarter-after-two

in the afternoon.

we JUST walked back in the door, and it is now 6:35! so, that's about standard, we stopped

at one other place, took about 20 minutes, and uh-- the rest of it was the trip to the

comic book shop! so that's about standard, it takes me about 4 hours to go to my comic

shop, get my new Final Quest issues, head on home! so that's about standard, i hope

you guys enjoyed the video! it was a lot of fun to make, it was a bit of a-of an adventure today!

so, uh, we had a lot of fun, uh, you guys got to meet my family, you got to see where

i go to pick up my ElfQuest comics every time, and i hope you enjoyed it!

um-- make sure you keep watching, uh--- i hope to do more vlogs like this in the future.

family, you got to see the area i live in, which i don't think many people have really gotten

to see much of... and uh--- it was a lot of fun, i'm hoping to do more vlogs like this

uh-- i heard some great news from my Comic Book Shop guy; uh-- first of all, they got

a new location for their store, a bigger location, so next time i go to my comic book shop it's

going to be exciting because it'll be in a whole new place! bigger location, more stuff

to check out!

um-- he also told me, while i was there, that there are at least 2 or 3 other ElfQuest fans

in the area, because they have also started coming in for Final Quest! so, i wanna know

where you guys are, where are the other-- uh-- ElfQuest fans in my area?

i'd love to meet you guys, and let's hang out and geek-out sometime!

Game Day Scotch Eggs | Scotch Eggs On The Charcoal Grill - Duration: 4:36.

hey everyone welcome back to another

episode of Baum Grillin'z on today's

episode I'm going to show you how to

make grilled scotched eggs

oh these things are good my friend Peter

told me about these and ever since then

I've been hooked so whether it's just a

snack or a side dish

this is a treat you're not gonna want to

miss

alright let's look at some of the

ingredients are going to need you're

going to need some bacon some sausage

some breadcrumbs i have original an

italian-style and you're gonna need

eggs

all right now that our eggs are cooked

Lets peel them! Thank you!

thats how you take an egg out of the shell

right now that your eggs are peeled

we're going to take our suffrage ball it

up into a little ball now you don't want

to play around with the too much of a

good too sticky

you also don't want too much because

it'll be too thick not too thin sausage

patty here just get in your hands and

keep pressing it out take your egg in

the middle of the pack it in there

ok take it over to the egg wash put it

in your egg wash and you go over to your

breadcrumbs get it all crummy then

you're going to set it aside

alright so now for the next one can be a

little bit different

we're going to use our baking this time

let's make our little patty take your

eggs

right-center do the same thing we're

going to do our breadcrumbs first and

then the bacon now grab akin to lay that

on there

and secure it right through

well done

go on the grill just like that iraq now

that those are ready let's take them to

the grill and I've had the girl up to

about 350 400 degrees set them right on

the center there for my grill those for

about 35 to 40 minutes we're sure you

check regularly and also rotate them
