Brainy Dose Presents:

The 10 Struggles Only Highly Intelligent People Have

Being smart isn't always easy.

If you are a highly intelligent person, these challenges can leave you feeling lonely and

isolated.

Here are some of your most common struggles…

#1

You Don't like Small Talk

It can be really challenging for you to engage in small talk about ordinary things.

This is because your brain is flooded with tons of great ideas!

Topics that interest you likely include science, art, or philosophy.

Thus, small talk makes you feel like you are wasting your time.

What you really want is a like-minded individual to bounce ideas around with - about the important

stuff.

#2

You Think More Than You Speak

Your brain is wired to look for all possible solutions and answers to a problem.

It may take you more time than a person of average intelligence to give your opinion

or draw a conclusion.

Plus, if you are not completely sure you've got the right answer or a brilliant idea,

you won't speak at all.

Most people around you are not familiar with the way your thought process works.

They get confused and may even regard you as weird, introverted, or uninterested.

#3

You Get Bored Easily at Work

You are most likely to have a day-to-day struggle to finish your tasks.

Your brain needs to be constantly challenged with new ideas and projects.

Your once exciting job turns into ordinary and boring as you exhaust all possibilities

to be creative with it.

In addition, your boss probably isn't too concerned about your brain's need for constant

stimulation, and just wants the job done.

#4

You Suffer Paralysis by Analysis

You like to be aware of all the pros and cons before making a decision.

This can often stop you from making a decision altogether!

That's because you tend to over-analyze and let potential "what if" scenarios

get the better of you.

This may also be because you are a perfectionist, and just want to make sure you get the best

possible result.

Unfortunately, people tend to mistaken this trait as laziness - leaving you feeling underappreciated.

#5

You are Socially Awkward

This struggle comes as a result of all the ones just mentioned.

If you feel uncomfortable during small talk, refrain from speaking if you are unsure, don't

get inspired by exhausted ideas, or if you feel more comfortable with ideas than execution

- people tend to characterize you as "socially awkward".

However, this only puts more pressure on you, and makes you feel more self-conscious about

your social conduct.

#6

You Find It Hard to Make Friends

Making friends is hard for you.

Simply because you don't like small talk or spontaneous adventures.

You really don't mind spending time alone.

But, if you don't have like-minded people to call friends, life can get very lonely,

and you will risk developing depression.

On the flip side however, you tend to find solace in your work and dedicating more time to making

breakthroughs in your field.

#7

It's Hard for You to Find Love

You are much more cautious, analytical and independent than the rest.

Because of that, you often tend to get mistaken for cold and high maintenance.

Additionally, you can lack spontaneity at times, which makes your love interest quickly

lose interest.

#8

You Don't Have Much Fun

You can't bravely explore or try something new just because you feel like it.

Analyzing comes into play here again.

You will think about something until you literally talk yourself out of it.

If something is slightly dangerous, but still could be super fun, you won't even consider

it.

In your mind, the danger will outweigh the fun.

#9

Everyone Notices Your Mistakes

You wish you didn't have to prove your intelligence to people all the time.

But, because of your gift, it's pretty much expected.

And, people notice every tiny mistake you make!

This is hard on a smart person like you, as it increases your fear of failure and drives

perfectionism even more.

You tend to base your self-worth on your intelligence, so making mistakes can hit you hard.

#10

You are Under Pressure to Succeed

You tend to feel superior to other people.

You can see and understand things that people around you can't perceive.

You are aware of the direction your life is headed, and it should head in a different

direction than everyone elses!

These things include having a better career, more money and better relationships.

But, if your life doesn't take the path you think it deserves, you end up criticizing

and attacking yourself.

Which of these struggles do YOU resonate with the most?

David Wright, out of view of fans and media, puts his arm to the test for first time since neck s... - Duration: 3:44.

PORT ST. LUCIE - David Wright said he felt good after throwing for the first time since June neck surgery on Sunday.

The Mets third baseman made 30 throws at 60 to 70 feet, according to Terry Collins.

"It was fun," Wright said. "There is still a little ways to go before I feel really comfortable. It was very easy today.

Just kind of going through the motions.

Hopefully it gets better each day.

It's something you've got to find.

"You don't do something for so long, something you've done every day, you take that amount of time off, it's going to take a little bit to get it back."

Wright made his first throws with only the physical therapy and the training staff watching, tucked away from where the media could see. College teams have taken over two of the fields at the complex this week and Wright said that was the reason he did not throw in front of the crowds that were here.

"It's like a bit of a process and with our lack of space right now with some of the college games going I don't want to take up a whole half field doing the prep work to get ready and stuff when other guys have to take grounders," Wright said. "I think more than anything it had to do with half our fields are being taken with the college games so we were trying to find time and space where we could go through the whole routine and not feel rushed because somebody else needs a field."

Wright said the program will depend on how he feels the day after throwing, but he expects at the beginning of this program he will throw every other day. Throwing is the final step in Wright's return from surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck. He has been fielding ground balls, hitting and running for weeks.

"I'm sure it's not going to be full-go, they are going to try to harness me a little bit to make it a let's see how you feel today, we'll come up with a plan for tomorrow or the next day, and imagine that in the beginning it might be every other day," Wright said of the program. "And then you gradually start going every day and then you increase the distance. It's going to get better with process but it's a long spring so I'm not worried about the time period of it."

Collins did not watch Wright throw, but he watched him do fielding drills and take batting practice on the field. The Mets manager said that in those areas Wright is ahead of where he was last spring, when he was coming off having missed 115 games because of spinal stenosis.

"That was the best batting practice I've seen," Collins said. "At this stage last year he couldn't have done what he did for batting practice. So positive signs all day."

Last year, Wright was not able to play in a game until March 18. Spring training has some extra games because of the World Baseball Classic, so Wright feels he will be able to get ready in time for the Mets Opening Day, April 3.

"I think so, you are never going to know what happens tomorrow or the next day," Wright said. "There might be some bumps that happen in the road, but yeah, that's the plan."

It is the second time Wright is working his way back from a major issue related to his spine surgery. Over the past two years, Wright has played in just 75 regular season games. He hit a career-low .226 with a surprising 55 strikeouts in 137 at-bats last season.

"It's kind of been the same story for me the last couple years. Just when you think get over one hurdle, you've got another one. That's life. That's baseball," Wright said.

"That's adversity.

For me, adversity has been injuries the last couple of years.

That's something that I am looking to overcome, I am working as hard as I can to put myself in the best position."

Sunday, Wright said he thinks he's taken a step in that direction.

Mets are 'all in' for title run, GM Sandy Alderson explains why he's so excited about 2017 club - Duration: 3:54.

PORT ST. LUCIE - In case the signing of Yoenis Cespedes didn't make it clear. And if the addition of Jerry Blevins and Fernando Salas right before spring training weren't big enough clues, Sandy Alderson just put it right out there Sunday.

"We're all in here," the Mets GM said after the first full-squad workout. "I think it's a credit to ownership that our payroll is as high as it is now given where we've been as recent as two years ago and where our budget might have been. We've had the fortune here recently of being able to take advantage of opportunities or not have to make moves on the basis primarily of payroll.

From that standpoint, I think we should all be pleased."

So a year after the Mets stumbled into the Wild Card game, where they lost in dramatic fashion to the Giants, there seems to be a more quiet confidence building around this team. Alderson said that even though the Mets were not able to move Jay Bruce and his $13 million salary, he is comfortable going into Opening Day with the current payroll, which is about $156 million. The Mets had originally targeted an Opening Day payroll of $140 million.

Alderson said even in that range, he would have money to make a move at the deadline if this team warrants it.

That still puts the Mets in the middle of MLB in terms of payroll, but it's a big improvement from just five years ago. This team has obviously been built to win now in a narrow window when their hard-throwing rotation is still young and affordable and they have their new superstar, Cespedes, signed through the 2020 season.

Sandy Alderson got a look at his full squad in action Sunday in Port St. Lucie.

(Howard Simmons/New York Daily News)

Besides being built to win, Alderson thinks this could be the best team they have put on the field in years. If the young rotation stays healthy, if David Wright comes back after two major spine issues and Cespedes continues to produce, Alderson is more excited about this team than he was heading into 2015.

"We played pretty well the last couple of years. We have roughly the same squad coming back, but I do think we have the capacity to improve whether that comes through injury or experience or growth of some of the young players. I really think that we have the potential to be better than we have been.

I think we're all excited.

I'm certainly as excited if not more so this spring than I have been since I've been here and that includes following a World Series appearance last year."

Coming off a loss in the World Series to the Royals last spring, the Mets players were loud and brash about their future. Pitchers who eventually ended the season on the disabled list were talking about being the best rotation in baseball, Cespedes was putting on a car show in the players' parking lot and then he and Noah Syndergaard played cowboy to troll the media.

This year, the players are quietly going about business and that confidence is building from the top down. Terry Collins reinforced that Sunday morning before the Mets' full squad of position players, pitchers and catchers went out to workout.

"What these guys did last year, persevered through the tough times, adversity, the injuries, all the doubters, all the things that happened, they better walk around with their heads up, they better have a little swagger, they better talk winning and better play like they are going to win, they better act like they are going to win," the Mets manager said. "Obviously when Jake (deGrom) got hurt and he was out and after (Steven) Matz was out and Matt (Harvey) was out, I remember saying how we're going to do this, they just rose up.

"They came into this camp knowing what they accomplished and they should be proud of what they accomplished," Collins continued. "The character on this team is second to none. They should come in here understanding they can challenge, they can challenge everybody."

David Wright, if healthy, can get the Mets another big bat in the lineup to join Yoenis Cespedes.

(Howard Simmons/New York Daily News)

Collins walked around the complex watching the players work out Sunday and was struck by the mix of proven, veteran players and young talent he will have.

"You are sitting there saying this is legit," Collins said of watching his team come together. "These guys are legit."
