CFA Exam Level 3 Essay: Overview and Prep Tips - Duration: 4:53.
Hello, this is Stephanie from FinanceResume.net.
Today we'll go over the CFA Level 3 essay tips.
There are two parts in the Level 3 exam: the structured response exam in the morning, and
item-set multiple choice questions in the afternoon.
You can check out this video on the item-set section of the CFA exam.
This video focuses on the structured response section, on the format, grading, preparation
tips and exam strategies.
Format Structured response is essentially essays.
In the 3-hour exam, there are 10-15 questions, each divided into two or more parts.
The points for each question and part are given in the exam.
Exam content Here is a summary of allocated points in essays
in the past few years. There is no guarantee, but you can expect
to see private wealth, institutional investors, economic analysis, fixed income and risk management
in the form of essay questions.
Ethics will most likely be in item sets.
Grading The full mark is 180.
Answers are graded on content only.
They are not graded for language, style and certainly not for length.
The examiners will indicate the number of factors in each question.
For example, if three factors are required, you don't need to list more than three.
Any further points, no matter how good they are,
will be considered irrelevant and not graded.
Also, if you list four factors, and the second one is incorrect, the examiners will count
the first three and ignore the fourth even if it is correct.
On a similar note, no points are awarded for general knowledge that is not a direct response
to the question.
Preparation tips The essay section is a headache for many candidates,
but for those well prepared, it is pretty doable.
First, practice using past papers The best and simplest way is to write out
the answers of past essay questions.
Some may be tempted to read the standard answers without working through the questions.
Big mistake.
You need lots of practice to get the hang of it.
There are past papers from CFA Institute website for free download.
Answer them to the best of your abilities.
Then, check your answers against the guideline.
It helps to track how your performance improves from essay to essay.
Second, keep your answers short, clean and concise
Often times, the official answer from the guideline is
much shorter than candidates' version.
Again, this can be learned through practice.
Answer the questions directly and not try to show off how much you know.
It takes practice to tune into this style of writing.
Third, pay attention to command words Words, such as "formulate" and "calculate",
can mean different things.
They are called command words and they determine how you should answer the questions.
Make sure you check them out on the CFAI website.
Fourth, write in bullet points Bullet points are great ways to present your
ideas in the CFA essay exam.
As mentioned, examiners will tell you how many factors they are looking for in each
question.
You can present them with bullet points.
Fifth, time your session It's a good habit to practice on time management.
Having said that, if you type at average speed, time shouldn't be a factor.
Readers' Questions Should I use pen or pencil for the L3 essay?
How do we approach calculation questions?
It's the last 10 days before the exam and I am running out of prep time.
Should I focus on essays or more multiple choice questions?
For answer to these questions, as well as additional test taking tips, and advice from
a former CFA exam grader, please check out our post on the same topic.
I hope this video shows you some of the tips for your Level 3 essay preparation.

Thanks for watching, and see you in the next video.

American accent for Vietnamese - bài học tiếng anh - Duration: 4:32.
Xin chào tôi là Professor T! This
lesson is about American pronunciation
and you notice I didn't say American I
said American and that "uh" sound is very
common in the way that educated and less
educated Americans speak.
It's the way that we pronounce certain
vowels if there's a vowel in a word with
two or three syllables the "uh" sound is
used and this is different than other
forms of English spoken in the rest of
the native English-speaking countries so
let's review those. If you want to have
an American accent these are words you
can practice. The first one is woman
woman it's spelled "woman" but in
American English its woman - "That woman is
very beautiful!"
Another is another - another -"Another
beautiful woman walked by" Another one is
problem
It looks like problem when you see it
written but problem another sound
American- "Another American woman" - you can
string these together in a sentence and
remember this pronunciation- every - every
- after - after - even - even - become - become and
family - family - If you want to know the
grammar word it's called the "schwa" sound -
this is what they teach us in grammar
class at university. This "schwa" sound is
the "uh" in woman - American
and it's very different than other
countries. If you listen carefully to
American movies or TV shows you'll hear
this type of pronunciation being used
for vowels that are in words that have
two or three syllables. If you can
imitate those sounds and the
pronunciation then you'll sound more
like an American. In my opinion, as an
American, the American accent is easier
to understand than accents from other
countries that are native English
speakers so if you're a Vietnamese student
or business person or traveler and you
imitate the American accent most people
be able to understand you and you'll be
able to understand someone else from
another country for whom
English is a second language - it's just
easier - there's less variability or pitch
change than other types of English from
other countries, in my opinion, as an
American, that's what I find to be true
so study these videos and you can learn
more on how to speak like an American. I've
written a book all about the challenges
and most common difficulties for native
Asian speakers. It's written for you and
I have a link in the description below -
it will help you go from high school
English or university English to high
class English - eliminating errors and
helping you with pronunciation and usage
and knowing what to say and what not to
say in English. I'm doing a series of
videos on this for Vietnamese students
so please subscribe and thank you so
much for being so nice to me when I was
in Vietnam.
Thank you
"cam ơn- mập" says thank you very much see
you next time!

BOMBSHELL! DECLASSIFIED CIA MEMO REVEALS PENTAGON HAD ZERO JUSTIFICATION FOR IRAQ WAR - Duration: 2:43.
BOMBSHELL!
DECLASSIFIED CIA MEMO REVEALS PENTAGON HAD ZERO JUSTIFICATION FOR IRAQ WAR
When the then president of the united states, George W. Bush, began the invasion of Iraq,
he supported it with a more than 90-page long document detailing why Saddam Hussein needed
to be dethroned.
Now that the document has entered the public arena some discrepancies have been noticed
between its contents and Bushes comments.
SECRET REPORT CASTS DOUBT OVER REASONS FOR IRAQ WAR A major reason for invading Iraq
was because they had developed nuclear weapons and were concealing them.
The evidence of these claims was meant to be contained in the reports.
After the truth had been revealed and the Government was accused by Congress of over
estimating the threat Hussein posed as there was not enough evidence to justify their actions.
The document, titled the National Intelligence Estimate or NIE, was made available to the
public to some extent in 2004 but it was heavily redacted.
Eventually, transparency of government activists was able to obtain a full version Another
claim that had been made was that Iraq's government had strong ties with the terror group Al Qaeda.
However, CIA reports show that this was based on questionable sources of information and
was a shaky accusation at best.
Other claims leveled against the middle eastern nation before these revelations included the
sending of anthrax poisoned envelopes to US government officials, but these are now also
heavily questionable.
Critics say there should have been a higher level of skepticism from the public at the
time however this can be easily explained by the panicked state that existed after the
terror attacks of 9/11.
Those now denouncing the initial move to invade Iraq include ex-CIA employees such as analyst
Paul Pillar.
The war in Iraq still continues to this day, and it has come at a great cost with many
lives lost and a bill to the US taxpayer of more than $800 Billion.

He Cares - Duration: 5:14.
I've been down this road before, I know that you've been too.
The sun doesn't shine like it once did, And you don't know what to do.
The rain it keeps on pouring, Through a window that just won't close.
You feel as if no one is there, And you wonder if anyone cares.
But I know – a way, To the One who cares.
And in your times of testing, You - may not understand.
But I know – a way, To the One who cares.
And with what you're going through, You need a helping hand.
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
Shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus the Lord."
"Casting all your care on Him; for He careth for you."
Oh yes! Jesus careth for you.
Now there's a sunrise in the morning, But you don't see it slip away.
Overshadowed by the burdens That comes into your day.
And when the evening comes Having done all that you can do.

10 Coolest Things for Students on Amazon That Will Blow Your Mind - Duration: 3:15.
1.
Digital microscope Very interesting and useful thing for students
which can be bought on Amazon is a USB microscope connecting to the computer.
You can see a lot of familiar things in great detail.
All that the microscope will see, you will see in the monitor.
You can even take pictures and record video directly from the microscope.
Of course, it is very far from the professional microscope, but it's worth the money paid
for it.
2.
Pocket microscope To impress all your classmates, you can bring
to the classroom such a pocket microscope.
It does not make so strong increase as the previous one does, but judging by the reviews
it is a worthy thing also.
3.
Magnetic levitation This pen, levitating in the air, will look
very cool on your desk.
It is floating in the air due to the repulsion from each other of two magnets, which create
the effect of levitation.
4.
Business card holder In order not to lose your school ID, bus pass
and other necessary documents you can purchase such a cute keychain-business card holder.
All your documents will be kept in one place.
5.
Bluetooth- tracker But if you suddenly drop somewhere your business
card holder, wallet or keys, this Bluetooth tracker will immediately inform you about
this with a signal.
To start you should connect it through the app to your smartphone.
Then attach it to your keys like a normal keychain, after that you will not be afraid
to lose them.
By the way, this key chain can be used as a remote control to take photos with smartphone,
and also for voice recording.
6.
Juicy umbrella An umbrella certainly can't hurt a student,
as well as all the others.
So why don't you buy a colorful umbrella-banana for yourself?
It is needed and funny thing at the same time.
You can choose green or yellow banana.
7.
Pens-bones Pens are a necessary attribute of any student.
So why don't you diversify them with these cool pens in the form of human bones?
There are 5 pens-bones in the set.
8.
Electric sharpener This handy electronic pencil sharpener is
especially for the laziest of students, or for those who are just too lazy to sharpen
their pencils.
It works from 2 batteries and can sharpen all your pencils at once, as well as your
neighbor's pencils.
9.
Pencil case - stand A pencil case, which can be used as a stand
for pencils and pens will also be very convenient and useful thing.
In fact, there is just a huge selection of pencil cases on Amazon.
These are pencil case-watermelon, pencil case-banana, pencil case-fish, pencil case-Sponge Bob,
pencil case-Pikachu, well, you understand me.
Everyone will certainly find something for his taste and color.
10.
Liquid metal (gallium) And finally, here is the reason of why many
people have started to watch this video.
This is amazing metal gallium, which melts right in your hands.
The temperature of melting is less than 86 F degree.
So if you put a solid piece of gallium on your palm and wait a bit, it will become liquid,
just like the Terminator.
Even though gallium has low toxicity, it is better not to play with it for a long time.
You will get grey spots on your palms and it will be too hard to wash them off, and
you can get irritation.
Anyway, you have to treat gallium carefully.
You can also buy gallium on Amazon, and not for the fabulous price.

American English For Vietnamese - Duration: 4:30.
Xin chào tôi là Professor T! I try to
speak a little bit of Vietnamese but I'm
more of an expert on American English. If
you want to really understand American
English you must listen for the way that
Americans shorten certain words. I'm
going to give you examples and you will
hear these in movies, in TED talks and TV
shows and it's the way that people speak
American English on a day-to-day basis.
I'm "gonna" teach you how to listen for
these shortened forms of words so "going
to" becomes "gonna" - "I'm gonna go to the
store!" Even a university educated person
will speak this quick way of expressing
a verb and you listen for it and learn
it then it'll make understanding
American conversation easier and you can
adopt these into your speech as well and
still be thought of as an intelligent and
educated person.
Other examples instead of "got to" we
often say "I gotta" - "I gotta go to the
store we are out of rice!" or "want to"
I wanna go to the store we're out of
fish sauce!" or "let me" becomes "Lemme" tell
you something
- there's no rice or fish sauce in the
house - I gotta go to the store!" or "out of"
becomes "outta"
"I gotta get out of this mess - I gotta
go to the store - I wanna buy some rice
and fish sauce!" Also "kind of" becomes
"kinda" - "I'm kinda of worried we have no
rice or fish sauce or chilis in the
house - I gotta go to the store!"
Another one is "hafta" from "have to" - "I hafta
to go to the store - we have no more fish
sauce, rice or chilis - I can make my
favorite Vietnamese food" and
lastly "don't know" becomes "dunno" - "What do
you think?" - "I dunno - I think we should
go to the store - we've got to get some fish
and fish sauce and rice and chilis so we
can make some Vietnamese food." I'm joking
around but you are Vietnamese - you know
how important it is to have rice and
fish sauce -
I don't have to tell you that - I don't
gotta tell you that but I want to tell
you that if you can master these
contractions in American English and
listen for them
it will be easier for you to understand what
you hear in American TV, American movies,
lectures, TED talks, the Voice of America
or however you listen to American
English. I've written a book all about the
most common challenges and problems that
native Asian speakers have in English
and you can see the link below it helps
people like you go from high school or
university English to a higher level of
English so you can travel in America or
pass the IELTS or TOEFL exam or do
business with people speaking English
around the world.

Samsung heir apparent Lee Jae-yong returns home after 15 hour-long interrogation - Duration: 0:57.
After 15 hours of questioning by the independent counsel team investigating the huge corruption
scandal gripping Korea, Samsung heir apparent Lee Jae-yong left for home in the middle of
the night.
He remained tight-lipped as he left the special prosecutors' office at a little after 1am,
but he had pledged to tell the truth on his way in on Monday morning.
The business tycoon was facing his second grilling following his first last month,...
a session that lasted a marathon 22 hours.
The prosecutors then requested a warrant for his arrest on charges of bribery, embezzlement,
and perjury, but that was rejected.
With only about two weeks left for the independent counsel to wrap up its investigation... as
its initial mandate expires,... pundits say the counsel team might file for another arrest
warrant sometime this week.

NES30 Classic Edition Set by 8Bitdo | Wireless Controller Review - Duration: 5:44.
Back when a 20 inch TV was considered large, and we as kids sat 3 inches from the screen,
Nintendo gave us a cord that was nearly 8 feet long with the original Nintendo Entertainment
System (NES). Fast forward a little over 30 years, and Nintendo released the NES Classic
Edition with a cord so short, it won't reach across my desk. Thankfully, aftermarket suppliers
have provided us with two solutions to this problem: an extension cord for those of you
that don't mind wires, and a wireless controller by the company that makes the best wireless
replicas on the market, 8Bitdo. The links to buy either of these is in the description
below, but obviously this review is about the controller. We'll get into it, right after
this.
Most of you are here because the idea of the extension cord was either unpalatable, or
you simply didn't know there was an extension cord option. 8Bitdo makes some of the most
aestetically and texturally accurate wireless controllers available. The SNES30 bluetooth
controllers I reviewed felt like real Super Nintendo controllers with the cords cut off.
So when 8Bitdo announced they were releasing a solution for the ridiculously short wired
controller of the NES Classic Edition, I knew I had to have it.
The NES30 Classic Edition Set is a repackaged NES30 Game Controller with an included wireless
adapter to overcome the lack of bluetooth on the NES Mini. I'm guessing the NES30 Classic
Edition Set, which I will refer to as CES for the rest of this review, was rushed to
market as 8Bitdo saw the overwhelming demand of the NES Mini. I say that because of all
of the controllers I own by them, these have the cheapest packaging I've seen. However,
somehow they have still managed to hit the nail on the head when it comes to their amazing
execution of delivering a solid product.
The first thing you will notice about the NES30 CES is the controller design. Unfortunately,
8Bitdo does not make an exact replica of the original NES controller. The NES30 CES is
more of a SNES controller in a NES formfactor. It has a 4 button layout on the front, with
L and R buttons on the top. The front buttons all act as B & A replicated, and the L & R
buttons act as B & A turbo buttons. This is good for those moments when you need turbo,
but bad because your fingers are occasionally pressing L and R by accident resulting in
Mario falling in holes he hasn't fell through since your early childhood. Still, not being
tethered 5 inches from the console makes this wireless option a much better choice.
But what about that one last nagging question? Do I have to get up and walk across my room
and press reset every time I want to change games now? The answer, simply put, is no.
The wireless controllers have a built in reset function. To get back to the game select menu,
you simply press down and select at the same time, and the NES Mini will return you to
the home screen.
The NES Classic Edition console, in its own right, is a very affordable console, given
you didn't buy it from eBay, Craigslist or an Amazon reseller. With the love of the original
NES console, most gamers my age would have willingly paid more than the $60 Nintendo
is asking for it. And that's good, because buying two of these controllers will set you
back more than the cost of NES Mini itself. They definitely are not cheap, but you get
what you pay for. So while these controllers might not be quite as aestetically accurate
as the SNES30 controllers, in my opinion they are definitely the best choice for wireless.
So how do you feel about this controller? Do you want a pair for yourself? Using the
links in my description below to make your purchase helps me run this channel. Do you
already own this controller, or are you planning to buy it? Let me know what you think in the
comments below. Don't forget to like this video, my name is Elemino, and this is Tech-Know
