We were delighted to invite Francis Gouten to Montrichard to introduce him to
the FINS solution for the watch industry. As the former CEO of Richmond
asia-pacific he has over 35 years of experience in the watches and luxury
goods business. After the visit we took a moment to ask him about the recent
changes and challenges facing the watch industry today and why he believes FINS
can help watch brands navigate an uncertain future.
We come from 10-12 years of a golden era which was mainly driven by
the Chinese market and the majority of the big brands did not realize that this
could have an end and were completely blind. They did not understand that the
market changed. At the same time all the major groups created new products every
year, which was a disaster because it was the race after the orders and then the
problem was to produce afterwards. So this was was pointing out the fact that
there was a lack of control of the production.
If we analyze what Zara is doing in the fashion world; they could manage to control the stock
of their retail stores and on a monthly basis replenish the models.
The great thing with FINS is that it's not only a fantastic improvement in terms of cost
and lead delivery time. FINS also allows the customizations to answer to
any different requests from clients including the very limited series.
So I think FINS is a fantastic new idea for certain category of watches.
This will help tremendously to control the stock to control the cost
